Abstract
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. 10-20% of the patients present with bone marrow (BM) involvement which predicts a worse survival. This study aimed to determine the prognostic significance of serum miR-222-3p, miR-26b-5p, EBV-miR-BHRF1-2-5p, and EBV-miR-BHRF1-2-3p and correlate their levels to clinical and haematological markers in DLBCL with special emphasis on the lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR) and neutrophil-monocyte ratio. We also studied the role of BM BMI1 and PIM2 proteins in predicting BM infiltration. Serum miRNAs were studied on 40 DLBCL and 18 normal individuals using qRT-PCR. BMI1 and PIM2 proteins were studied on BM biopsies by immunohistochemistry. The results were correlated with clinical and follow-up data. All the studied miRNAs were dysregulated in DLBCL serum samples. BMI1 and PIM2 were expressed in 67% and 77.5% of BM samples, respectively. LMR was significantly associated with disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.022), miR-222-3P (P = 0.043), and miR-26b-5p (P = 0.043). EBV-miR-BHRF1-2-3p was significantly correlated to haemoglobin level (P = 0.027). MiR-222-3p, miR-26b-5p, and EBV-miR-BHRF1-2-5p expressions were significantly correlated to each other (P = 0.001). There was no significant correlation between the studied markers and follow-up data. LMR is a simple method for predicting survival in DLBCL. MiR-222-3p and miR-26b-5p may be implicated in an immunological mechanism affecting patients' immunity and accordingly influence LMR. The correlation between miR-222-3p, miR-26b-5p, and EBV-miR-BHRF1-2-5p may indicate a common mechanism among the 3 miRNAs that may explain DLBCL pathogenesis.

Abstract
Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive system. Its occurrence and development are the result of a combination of genetic, environmental, and microbial factors. Helicobacter pylori infection is a chronic infection that is closely related to the occurrence of gastric tumorigenesis. Non-coding RNA has been demonstrated to play a very important role in the organism, exerting a prominent role in the carcinogenesis, proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, metastasis, and chemoresistance of tumor progression. H. pylori infection affects the expression of non-coding RNA at multiple levels such as genetic polymorphisms and signaling pathways, thereby promoting or inhibiting tumor progression or chemoresistance. This paper mainly introduces the relationship between H. pylori-infected gastric cancer and non-coding RNA, providing a new perspective for gastric cancer treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancers in Iran. Knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease is essential in planning for prevention. So this study aimed to investigate the epidemiological aspects of gastric cancer including prevalence, incidence, mortality, and risk factors of Iran. METHODS This systematic review study was based on articles published in both English and Persian languages during the years of 1970-2020 in international databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus) and national databases (including SID, Magiran, and IranDoc). Papers related to epidemiological aspects of the disease including mortality, prevalence, incidence, and risk entered the final review. RESULTS According to the studies, the minimum and maximum prevalence of gastric cancer in northwestern Iran (Ardabil) is between 0.2 and 100 per 100,000. Also, the death rate per 100,000 people ranged from 10.6 to 15.72 and the ASMR ranged from 4.2 to 32.2%. On the other hand, the incidence of GC was higher in men than in women (74.9 vs 4.6%). The GC risk ratio was 8-times higher in the elderly than in the other age groups (HR=8.0, 2.7-23.5). The incidence of gastric cancer in patients with H. pylori infection was 18-times and that of smokers 2-times higher than other populations. Low level of economic situation and food insecurity increased the odds of GC by 2.42- and 2.57-times, respectively. It should be noted that there was a direct relationship between consumption of processed red meat, dairy products, fruit juice, smoked and salty fish and legumes, strong and hot tea, and consumption of salt and gastric cancer incidence. There was also an inverse relationship between citrus consumption, fresh fruit, garlic, and gastric cancer. In addition, the mRNA genes are the most GC-related genes. CONCLUSION Given the high incidence of GC in Iran, changing lifestyle and decreasing consumption of preservatives in food, increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables, and improving the lifestyle can be effective in reducing the incidence of this disease.

Abstract
Background Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide. Along with environmental factors, such as Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, genetic changes play important roles in gastric tumor formations. miR-584 is a less well-characterized microRNA (miRNA), with apparent activity in human cancers. However, miR-584 expression pattern in gastric cancer development has remained unclear. This study aims to analyze the expression of miR-584 in gastric cancer samples and investigates the associations between this miRNA and H. pylori infection and clinical characteristics. Methods The expression level of miR-584 was studied in primary gastric cancers versus healthy control gastric mucosa samples using the RT-qPCR method. The clinical data were analyzed statistically in terms of miR-584 expression. In silico studies were employed to study miR-584 more broadly in order to assess its expression and find new potential target genes. Results Both experimental and in silico studies showed up-regulation of miR-584 in patients with gastric cancer. This up-regulation seems to be induced by H. pylori infection since the infected samples showed increased levels of miR-584 expression. Deeper analyses revealed that miR-584 undergoes a dramatic down-regulation in late stages, invasive and lymph node-metastatic gastric tumors. Bioinformatics studies demonstrated that miR-584 has a substantial role in cancer pathways and has the potential to target STAT1 transcripts. Consistent with the inverse correlation between TCGA RNA-seq data of miR-584 and STAT1 transcripts, the qPCR analysis showed a significant negative correlation between these two RNAs in a set of clinical samples. Conclusion miR-584 undergoes up-regulation in the stage of primary tumor formation; however, becomes down-regulated upon the progression of gastric cancer. These findings suggest the potential of miR-584 as a diagnostic or prognostic biomarker in gastric cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Gastric cancer is a multifactorial disease. In addition to environmental factors, many genes are involved in this malignancy. One of the genes associated with gastric cancer is CD44 gene and its polymorphisms. CD44 gene plays role in regulating cell survival, growth and mobility. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs8193, located in the CD44 gene, has not been studied in gastric cancer patients of the Iranian population. The present study aims to study this polymorphism in 86 gastric cancer patients and 96 healthy individuals. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this cross-sectional case-control study, rs8193 polymorphism was genotyped by allele specific primer polymerase chain reaction (ASP-PCR) technique. The obtained data were statistically analyzed. To find the potential mechanism of action, rs8193 was bioinformatically investigated. RESULTS rs8193 C allele played a risk factor role for gastric cancer. Patients carrying this allele were more susceptible to have gastric cancer, with lymph node spread. On the other hand, rs8193 T allele, a protective factor, was associated with a higher chance of accumulation in the lower stages of cancer. C allele might impose its effect via destabilizing CD44 and miR-570 interaction. CONCLUSION rs8193 is statistically associated with the risk of malignancy, lymph node spread and stage of gastric cancer in Iranian population.

Abstract
A genetic variant may alter a gene expression level and as a result be associated with pathological characteristics in breast cancer. In this research, the frequency and association of the ErbB4 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) variant, rs12471583 (c.*3622A>G) was studied in an Iranian breast cancer patients. In silico assessment was performed to predict the function of the rs12471583 variant located on the 3'-UTR of ErbB4. Furthermore, as a case-control study, this polymorphism was genotyped in 243 breast cancer patients and non-cancerous controls using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique. The Armitage's trend test and regular association tests were performed to analyze a possible association between the rs12471583 and risk of breast cancer and its relevant pathological traits. The bioinformatics analysis predicted that the rs12471583 SNP is located on the four miRNA binding sites, including miR-511-5p, miR-4659a-5p, miR-4659b-5p, and miR-6830-3p. According to logistic regression tests, the G allele is negatively associated with ER- (OR = 0.20, 95% C.I. = 0.04-0.93, p = 0.026), PR- (OR = 0.31, 95% C.I. = 0.10-0.98, p = 0.039), ER-/PR- (OR = 0.20, 95% C.I. = 0.04-0.93, p = 0.026), and advanced breast cancer (OR = 0.40, 95% C.I. = 0.18-0.85, p = 0.016). It has been found that ErbB4 expression may be linked to unfavorable outcomes in breast cancer. Likewise, our results suggest that the G allele may strengthen miRNA-ErbB4 binding efficiency and as a result reduce expression of ErbB4. This is a possible explanation for the observed association.

Abstract
Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disorder involving both inflammatory and neurodegenerative responses.
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been had an emerging role as the biomarkers of different disorders, including
autoimmune diseases. Previous studies have shown that NR_003531.3 (MEG3a), AC000061.1_201, and AC007182.6
play a role in the pathogenesis of human autoimmune diseases. However, the potential significance of these lncRNAs,
as the diagnostic biomarkers of MS, has not been studied yet. We aimed to quantitatively evaluate the expression
levels of NR_003531.3, AC000061.1_201, and AC007182.6 in peripheral blood samples of MS patients in comparison
with healthy controls.
Materials and Methods In this case-control study, the blood samples from 20 MS patients and 10 healthy controls
were collected. Total RNA was extracted, and the expression levels of three selected lncRNAs were quantitatively
measured using the quantitative real time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) method.
Results We detected a significant down-regulation in the expression of NR_003531.3 in MS patients, while no marked
changes were observed in the expression of AC000061.1_201 and AC007182.6 in patients compared with controls.
Based on the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, NR_003531.3 could discriminate MS patients
from healthy subjects effectively. Regarding the prognosis of MS patients, NR_003531.3 is significantly and inversely
correlated with the expanded disability status scale (EDSS).
Conclusion The potential role of NR_003531.3 lncRNA as a diagnostic biomarker to distinguish MS patients is proposed.
Prognostically, NR_003531.3 correlates with lower disability rates in MS patients.

ABSTRACT
Helicobacter pylori infection and H. pylori-related gastric inflammation can be considered as the most significant promoter of gastric cancer (GC). Recent investigations have evaluated the regulatory function of microRNAs (miRNAs) in H. pylori pathogenesis and H. pylori-related diseases, especially GC. The present study reviewed the correlation between miRNAs and H. pylori in gastrointestinal diseases. Furthermore, the current review highlighted the role of H. pylori pathogen and some H. pylori-related virulence factors in the deregulation of various miRNAs, especially oncogenic miRNAs (miRs) and their associated molecular pathways. Among the related studies, some have focused on the effects of H. pylori infection on regulatory networks of miRs, while others have highlighted the effects of alterations in the expression level of miRs in H. pylori-related diseases. The connectivity between miRNAs and H. pylori is regulated by various molecular pathways and different molecular targets of miRNAs.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the effects of microRNA-222-3p on activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells and the regulatory relationship between microRNA-222-3p and phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha. METHOD The expression of microRNA-222-3p was detected in activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma tissues and cells by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The regulatory effects of microRNA-222-3p on the proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis of activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells were analyzed by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT), colony formation, flow cytometry, and Transwell assay. The regulatory relationship between microRNA-222-3p and phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha was determined by luciferase reporter gene and RNA pull-down assay. In addition, the effects of microRNA-222-3p on tumor growth were further analyzed in mice. RESULTS MicroRNA-222-3p and phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha were significantly up- and downregulated in activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma tissues and cells, respectively. Phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha was a target of microRNA-222-3p. MicroRNA-222-3p promoted the proliferation and invasion and inhibited the apoptosis of activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells. Phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha reversed the tumor-promoting effects of microRNA-222-3p on activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells. In addition, microRNA-222-3p promoted the tumor growth in mice and downregulated phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha in tumor tissues. CONCLUSION MicroRNA-222-3p promoted the proliferation and invasion and inhibited the apoptosis of activated B cell-like-type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma cells through suppressing phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B alpha expression.

Abstract
Breast cancer is a major cause of cancer-related death in women worldwide. miRNAs are new players of breast tumorigenesis, used as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. Among various miRNAs, miR-126 has been proposed to have a tumor suppressive role in HER2 positive cancer. However, to have a better understanding of its role, further validation is required. The aim of this study was evaluating miR-126 expression level in breast cancer tissues and investigating its potential association with HER2, estrogen and progesterone receptors. miR-126 expression level was measured in 108 specimens including 78 malignant and 30 normal samples using RT-qPCR. The outcome was statistically analyzed. In silico studies were performed to find the potential mechanism of action, through which miR-126 imposes its function. Down-regulation of miR-126 was observed in tumor samples, as compared to the matched normal tissues. Down-regulation of miR-126 was also associated significantly with the absence of estrogen receptor in malignant samples. No association between miR-126 expression and HER2 status was observed. Our in silico analyses showed the possible role of Crk, PI3K and Ras proto-oncogenes in breast cancer tumorigenesis. miR-126 is significantly down-regulated in breast cancer tissues. Statistically, it showed no correlation with HER2 positivity. However, the association between lower miR-126 and estrogen receptor negativity was observed.

Abstract
MUC4 is aberrantly expressed in several carcinomas including breast, colon, ovarian, lung, prostate, stomach and pancreatic cancers. MUC4 can regulate cell apoptosis negatively and facilitate stomach tumorigenesis. In this research, we aimed to evaluate the possible association between rs2641726 (C > A) polymorphism of MUC4 and gastric cancer risk in the Iranian population. In this case-control study, we collected blood samples from 168 gastric cancer patients and 66 healthy subjects. Allele-specific primer polymerase chain reaction method was applied to genotype rs2641726 in the obtained DNA samples. This study demonstrated that rs2641726 C allele was significantly associated with the incidence of gastric cancer, odds ratio = 3.382, 95% confidence interval: 1.840-6.217 (P < 0.001). Furthermore, the distribution of this risk allele was highly enriched in the samples with stage III. In silico studies revealed that the C allele of rs2641726, located within MUC4 3'UTR, is potential to attenuate the interaction between miR-581 and MUC4 mRNA. This disturbing effect, which might result in higher expression of MUC4 oncoprotein, was proposed for the mechanism of action of the rs2641726 risk allele. rs2641726 C allele is significantly enriched in gastric cancer specimens. The attenuating effect of this allele on miR-581 and MUC4 interaction might be a potential mechanism of action by which C allele imposes its oncogenic impact.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori is responsible for the most commonly found infection in the world's population. It is the major risk factor for gastric cancer development. Numerous studies published over the last year provide new insights into the strategies employed by H. pylori to adapt to the extreme acidic conditions of the gastric environment, to establish persistent infection and to deregulate host functions, leading to gastric pathogenesis and cancer. In this review, we report recent data on the mechanisms involved in chemotaxis, on the essential role of nickel in acid resistance and gastric colonization, on the importance of adhesins and Hop proteins and on the role of CagPAI-components and CagA. Among the host functions, a special focus has been made on the escape from immune response, the ability of bacteria to induce genetic instability and modulate telomeres, the mechanism of autophagy and the deregulation of micro RNAs.

Abstract
Epstein-Barr virus is a ubiquitous human herpesvirus whose primary infection causes mononucleosis, Burkett's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, autoimmune diseases, and gastric cancer (GC). The persistent infection causes malignancies in lymph and epithelial cells. Helicobacter pylori causes gastritis in human with chronic inflammation. This chronic inflammation is thought to be the cause of genomic instability. About 45%-word population have a probability of having both pathogens, namely, H. pylori and EBV. Approximately 180 per hundred thousand population is developing GC along with many gastric abnormalities. This makes GC the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Although lots of research are carried out individually for EBV and H. pylori, still there are very few reports available on coinfection of both pathogens. Recent studies suggested that EBV and H. pylori coinfection increases the occurrence of GC as well as the early age of GC detection comparing to individual infection. The aim of this review is to present status on coinfection of both pathogens and their association with GC.
