Abstract
In this article, we used a novel hybrid approach to review literature concerned with family and domestic violence (FADV) perpetrators. Our intention was to chart the research and publication activity of authors with Australian affiliation to identify homegrown evidence related to stopping the perpetration of violence. This involved systematic searching of literature from the Scopus electronic database, utilization of VOSviewer to sort keyword co-occurrences and authorship linking for 1,494 publication records over a 30-year period, and the review of 21 articles with perpetrator focus, identified from the 50 most cited publications. We found that Australians' authoring interests in FADV, over the last three decades, with perpetrator focus were predominantly concentrated on gender, rape and sexual assault, coercive control, and child abuse. In the most cited literature, six major themes were identified: perpetrator motivations, perpetrator interventions, patterns of violence, pandemic duet, perception of blame, and cyberstalking and violence. An upward curve in Australian authoring activity in the period under review aligns with societal shifts in which FADV was once considered a private issue and has now become ubiquitous in the public domain. Our findings revealed that research into perpetrators is insufficient to promote a zero-tolerance approach to FADV. Our corresponding in-depth literature review provides valuable insights surrounding perpetrator intervention programs with the goal of more effectively addressing the emerging challenge of technology-facilitated coercive control.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE There is scant research identifying thematic trends within medical research. This work may provide insight into how a given field values certain topics. We assessed the feasibility of using a machine learning approach to determine the most common research themes published in Gynecologic Oncology over a thirty-year period and to subsequently evaluate how interest in these topics changed over time. METHODS We retrieved the abstracts of all original research published in Gynecologic Oncology from 1990 to 2020 using PubMed. Abstract text was processed through a natural language processing algorithm and clustered into topical themes using latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) prior to manual labeling. Topics were investigated for temporal trends. RESULTS We retrieved 12,586 original research articles, of which 11,217 were evaluable for subsequent analysis. Twenty-three research topics were selected at the completion of topic modeling. The topics of basic science genetics, epidemiologic methods, and chemotherapy experienced the greatest increase over the time period, while postoperative outcomes, reproductive age cancer management, and cervical dysplasia experienced the greatest decline. Interest in basic science research remained relatively constant. Topics were additionally reviewed for words indicative of either surgical or medical therapy. Both surgical and medical topics saw increasing interest, with surgical topics experiencing a greater increase and representing a higher proportion of published topics. CONCLUSIONS Topic modeling, a type of unsupervised machine learning, was successfully used to identify trends in research themes. The application of this technique provided insight into how the field of gynecologic oncology values the components of its scope of practice and therefore how it may choose to allocate grant funding, disseminate research, and participate in the public discourse.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to bibliometrically analyze the 100 most-cited articles published in the Veterinary Ophthalmology (VO) journal. METHODS Web of Science was searched for citations of VO articles published in 1998-2022. Tissue and species studied, and first and last author domicile and affiliation were recorded for the 100 most-cited articles and descriptively analyzed. RESULTS Altogether, the 100 most-cited VO articles have cited a total of 5483 times. Most commonly, these were devoted to the cornea (23%), multiple tissues (19%), and glaucoma (16%). Studies on dogs (36%), horses (17%), and multiple species (15%) were most often cited. Most first/last authors were from the USA (n = 113), Brazil (n = 13), and France and Germany (n = 7 each), and most frequently affiliated with the University of Florida (n = 36), University of Wisconsin-Madison (n = 15), and Animal Health Trust, North Carolina State University, and Ohio State University (n = 6 each). KN Gelatt (n = 9), DE Brooks (n = 6), and FJ Ollivier and EO MacKay (n = 5 each) were the most frequent first or last authors. The greatest number of citations was for articles with KN Gelatt (n = 555), FJ Ollivier (n = 411), and DE Brooks (n = 372) as first or last authors. "The comparative morphology of the tapetum lucidum" by FJ Ollivier et al. (2002) is the most frequently cited article in VO history (n = 178). CONCLUSIONS This study provides insight into the impact of publishing in VO and a more comprehensive understanding of trends and the most influential contributions to VO.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate preeclampsia. It used the visualization tools of CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Gunnmap, Bibliometrix®, and Carrot2 to analyze 3,754 preeclampsia studies from 1985 to 2020 in Obstetrics and Gynecology areas. Carrot2 was used to explain each cluster in extra detail. The results found that there is an increasing trend in many publications related to preeclampsia from 1985 to 2020. The number of studies on preeclampsia has increased significantly in the last century. Analysis of the keywords found a strong relationship with preeclampsia concepts and keywords classified into five categories. Co-citation analysis was also performed which was classified into six categories. Reading the article offers important to support not only to grind the context of preeclampsia challenges but also to design a new trend in this field. The number of studies on preeclampsia has substantially improved over the decades ago. The findings of documents published from 1985 to 2020 showed three stages in research on this subject: 1985 to 1997 (a seeding stage), 1997-2005 (rapid growth stage), and 2005 onwards (development stage).

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To apply scientometric methodology to characterize influential articles in the Journal of Perinatal Medicine (JPM). METHODS We performed a cross-sectional study of all JPM articles indexed in Clarivate Web of Science (WOS), NIH Open Citation Collection, and Altmetric Explorer databases (1973-2022). We identified articles cited ≥100 times in WOS and articles with highest Relative Citation Ratios (RCR, a metric of influence based on citations) and highest Altmetric Attention Scores (AAS, a metric of engagement with social media and public platforms). We performed descriptive analysis to characterize influential articles based on citation rates vs. highest AAS, and quantile regression with bootstrapping to estimate the median differences (95% confidence intervals). RESULTS We identified 4095 JPM articles that were indexed in the WOS, of which 3,959 (96.7%) had RCRs and 939 (22.9%) had AASs. The study cohort included 34 articles cited ≥100 times and the 34 top-RCR and 34 top-AAS articles, representing 83 unique articles. These influential articles had median 67 citations (IQR 17-114), median RCR 3.4 (IQR 1.7-5.0), and median AAS 14 (IQR 3-28). The majority were observational studies and reviews. Compared to top-AAS articles, top-cited articles had higher median citations (117 [IQR 111-147] vs. 13 [IQR 5-62]; median difference 104.0, 95% CI 86.6-121.4) and citations per year (7.3 [IQR 4.9-10.6] vs. 2.3 [0.7-4.6]; median difference 5.5 [95% CI 3.1-7.9]). Results were similar for top-RCR vs. top-AAS articles. CONCLUSIONS We identified influential articles during 50 years of JPM, providing insight into the impact of the journal and providing a template for future studies of academic journals.

Abstract
Background: Employing network pharmacology in neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) has been extensively studied recently. However, no comprehensive study has conducted on this subject employing bibliometrics so far. The purpose of this study was to find out the developmental trends and hotspots, and to predict potential research directions in this filed. Methods: Relevant research were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection Bibliometrics and visual analysis were executed using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Histcite and R-bibliometrix. Results: A total of 420 English articles on network pharmacology in NDs published in 2008-2022 were obtained from the WOSCC database. From 2008 to 2022, annual publications showed a steady growing trend, especially in 2014-2022. China, Beijing Univ Chinese Med, Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Geerts H are the most prolific country, institution, journal, and author, respectively. China, Nucleic Acids Research, and Hopkins AL are the most highly cited country, journal, and author, respectively. Moreover, network pharmacology and Alzheimer's disease are the focal areas of current researches according to analysis of co-cited references and keywords. Finally, in the detection of burst keywords, systems pharmacology and database are new approaches to disease and drug research, while traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Alzheimer's disease are hot research directions. The above keywords are speculated to be the research frontiers. Conclusion: Network pharmacology and Alzheimers' disease are the main topics of researches on network pharmacology in NDs. Network pharmacology and the TCM treatment of Alzheimer's disease have been the recent research hotspots. To sum up, the potential for exploring TCM treatment of AD with network pharmacology is huge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriasis Vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Bibliometric analysis helps determine the most influential article on the topic of "Psoriasis Vulgaris and biological agents (PVBAs)", and what factors affect article citation remain unclear. This study aims (1) to identify the top 100 most cited articles in PVBA (PVBA100 for short) from 1991 to 2020, (2) to visualize dominant entities on one diagram using data in PVBA100, and (3) to investigate whether medical subject headings (MeSH terms) can be used to predict article citations. METHODS The top 100 most cited articles relevant to PVBA (1991-2020) were downloaded by searching the PubMed database. Citation analysis was applied to compare the dominant roles in article types and topic categories using pyramid plots. Social network analysis (SNA) and Sankey diagrams were applied to highlight prominent entities. We examined the MeSH prediction effect on article citations using its correlation coefficients. RESULTS The most frequent article types and topic categories were research support by institutes (46%) and drug therapy (88%), respectively. The most productive countries were the United States (38%), followed by Germany (13%) and Japan (12%). Most articles were published in Br J Dermatol (13%) and J Invest Dermatol (11%). MeSH terms were evident in the prediction power of the number of article citations (correlation coefficient=0.45, t=4.99). CONCLUSIONS The breakthrough was made by developing one dashboard to display PVBA100. MeSH terms can be used for predicting article citations in PVBA100. These visualizations of PVBA100 could be applied to future academic pursuits and applications in other academic disciplines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Remaining current on the latest advances in the peer-reviewed literature is a basic tenant of medical education and evidence-based practice. We updated an important prior publication (Vaughan, et al.) identifying landmark articles in geriatric medicine by considering the influence of altmetrics and updating the list with notable articles published between 2012 and 2019. METHODS Articles were identified by searching Web of Science and Scopus for highly cited articles clinically relevant to geriatrics or gerontology and by searching the Altmetric Explorer database for relevant articles with high altmetric scores. The results of the literature search were screened and evaluated using a bibliometric score consisting of an adjusted journal impact factor, citation count, and altmetric score. RESULTS The top 12 notable articles in geriatrics were selected by a consensus panel and ranked using an expert opinion survey. This process reinforces the concept of combining subjective and objective measures to identify notable articles to be used for the education of healthcare professionals in geriatrics principles of care for older adults. CONCLUSIONS While our update was performed approximately 9 years after the initial identification of landmark articles, we propose that future updates are conducted at an interval of every 5 years by the governance of a national professional society.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the top-cited articles in the field of diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) research. A cross-sectional bibliometric analysis was conducted in January 2021 by using Boolean search terms in the Scopus and the Web of Science databases. The 50 top-cited articles that met the inclusion criteria were ranked and evaluated for several characteristics, including year of publication, country of origin, authorship, publishing journal, topic categories, publishing type, and level of evidence. The median number of citations per article in the list was 442 (interquartile range [IQR], 320-520), with a median of 21.8 citations (IQR, 16.5-34.5) per year since publication. The publication years ranged from 1986 to 2017, with 1998 accounting for the greatest number of studies (n = 7). The citation classics were published in 20 journals and originated from institutions in 9 countries. The majority of the studies were clinical, of which expert opinion/review with Level V evidence and clinical studies with Levels I and II evidence comprised the greater proportion in the list. This study provides useful insights into the history and development of DFU research. The top-cited list may serve as a quick reference for education curriculums and clinical practice, in addition to providing a foundation for further studies on this topic.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Bibliometric analyses are commonly used to measure the productivity of researchers or institutions but rarely used to assess the scientific contribution of national surveys/datasets. We applied bibliometric methods to quantify the contributions of the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH) and the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (NS-CSHCN) to the body of pediatric health-related research. We also examined dissemination to nonresearch audiences by analyzing media coverage of statistics and research produced from the surveys. METHODS We conducted a search of the Web of Science database to identify peer-reviewed articles related to the NSCH and NS-CSHCN published between 2002 and 2019. We summarized information about citation counts, publishing journals, key research areas, and institutions using the surveys. We used the Lexis Advance database Nexis to assess media coverage. RESULTS The publication set included 716 NSCH/NS-CSHCN journal articles published between 2002 and June 2019. These publications have in turn been cited 22,449 times, including in 1614 review articles. Over 180 journals have published NSCH/NS-CSHCN articles, and the most commonly covered research areas are in pediatrics; public, environmental and occupational health; psychology; and health care sciences and services. Over 500 institutions have used NSCH/NS-CSHCN data to publish journal articles, and over 950 news media articles have cited statistics or research produced by the surveys. CONCLUSIONS NSCH/NS-CSHCN data are widely used by government, academic, and media institutions. Bibliometric methods provide a systematic approach to quantify and describe the contributions to the scientific literature made possible with these data.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the theme trends and knowledge structure of multifetal pregnancy reduction (MPR)-related literature by using bibliometric analysis. METHODS Published scientific papers regarding MPR were retrieved from the PubMed database. Data extraction and statistics were conducted using Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB). Furthermore, gCLUTO software was used in the study for bi-clustering analysis and strategic diagram analysis. RESULTS According to the search strategy, 906 total papers were included. Among all the extracted MeSH terms, 41 high frequency ones were identified and hotspots were clustered into four categories. In the strategic diagram, research on intrauterine treatment of MPR was most well developed. In contrast, statistical data on the sequelae of fetal reduction surgery and applications of MPR in assisted reproductive technologies were relatively immature. CONCLUSION The analysis of common terms among the high-frequency network terms in multiparous pregnancy reduction can help researchers and clinicians understand the hotspots, key topics, and issues to be discovered on MPR. Research on intrauterine treatment of MPR was most well developed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, the number of women who are pregnant again with the history of cesarean section, has increased year by year in China. Scarred uterine attracts much attention due to its particularity. This study aimed to understand the knowledge domain and development trends of scarred uterus after cesarean section. METHODS Data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection databases (WoSCCd) including SSCI and SCI-Expanded. We carried out a comprehensive literature retrieval using index words as follows: "TI=((((prior) OR (previous) OR (after) OR (post)) AND ((cesarean) OR (caesarean))) OR (scarred uterus) OR ((uterine) AND ((scar) OR (scarring) OR (wound))))". The time interval for the search was from 1999 to 2018, totally 20 years. A document type was only article and the language of article was English. All electronic searches were performed on 15 May 2019. CiteSpace, HistCite, and VOSviewer software were used to facilitate the analysis. RESULTS The analysis included 1938 bibliographic records. The annual number of publications exhibited the solid increase. A total of 84 countries contributed to the overall published output during the study period. USA published the highest number of publications (n = 508, 26.2%), which also had the highest total global citation score (10,826). American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Journal of Maternal-fetal & Neonatal Medicine were the top three journals that published the articles. The top 10 productive institutions, such as Northwestern University, Tel Aviv University, and Karolinska Institute were located mainly in USA, Israel, and Sweden, and top 10 authors originated totally from USA. Vaginal birth after cesarean, uterine rupture, painless labor, and scar pregnancy were research hotspots and may be promising in the next few years. CONCLUSIONS This bibliometrics provides a comprehensive analysis that delineates the scientific productivity, collaboration, and research hotspots about scarred uterus after cesarean section, which is very helpful to focus on the future research direction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES A bibliometric analysis of articles in the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine (JUM) identified the journals' most impactful articles. METHODS A bibliometric analysis of citation classics that were published in the JUM from its inception in 1982 to 2019 was performed. All citation classics, defined as articles cited 100 or more times, were evaluated for the number of citations, citations per year, publication year, subspecialty, design, and country of origin. Characteristics were compared before and after 1998 by the Mann-Whitney test for unpaired data and 2-sample z tests of sample proportions. The Kruskal-Wallis test for nonparametric continuous data was used to compare the median number of citations per year by decade of publication. RESULTS A total of 7868 articles were published in the JUM between 1982 and 2019; 54 (0.7%) were citation classics. The median citation classics year of publication was 1998 (interquartile range [IQR], 1991-2003). Most citation classics originated from the United States (36 of 54 [66.7%]), were observational (47 of 54 [87%]), and were related to obstetric and gynecologic topics (16 of 54 [29.6%]). Citation classics after 1998 received significantly more citations per year (9.3 versus 4.7; P < .001), with no other differences noted. The median number of citations per year increased for each decade, with medians of 4 citations (IQR, 3.6-4.7) in 1982 to 1991 and 11.2 citations (IQR, 9-13.9) in 2002 to 2012 (P < .001). CONCLUSIONS This list provides insight into the most influential articles that were published in the JUM. Most citation classics were observational, were from the United States, and covered obstetric and gynecologic topics. Citation classics received more citations per year after 1998.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Citation analysis is a bibliometric method that uses citation rates to evaluate research performance. This type of analysis can identify the articles that have shaped the modern history of obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN). OBJECTIVES To identify and characterize top-cited OBGYN articles in the Institute for Scientific Information Web of Science's Science Citation Index Expanded and to compare top-cited OBGYN articles published in specialty OBGYN journals with those published in nonspecialty journals. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS Cross-sectional bibliometric analysis of top-cited articles that were indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded from 1980 to 2018. The Science Citation Index Expanded was queried using search terms from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology's 2018 certifying examination topics list. The top 100 articles from all journals and the top 100 articles from OBGYN journals were evaluated for specific characteristics. Data were analyzed in March 2019. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES The articles were characterized by citation number, publication year, topic, study design, and authorship. After excluding articles that featured on both lists, top-cited articles were compared. RESULTS The query identified 3 767 874 articles, of which 278 846 (7.4%) were published in OBGYN journals. The top-cited article was published by Rossouw and colleagues in JAMA (2002). Top-cited articles published in nonspecialty journals were more frequently cited than those in OBGYN journals (median [interquartile range], 1738 [1490-2077] citations vs 666 [580-843] citations, respectively; P < .001) and were more likely to be randomized trials (25.0% vs 2.2%, respectively; difference, 22.8%; 95% CI, 13.5%-32.2%; P < .001). Whereas articles from nonspecialty journals focused on broad topics like osteoporosis, articles from OBGYN journal focused on topics like preeclampsia and endometriosis. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE This study found substantial differences between top-cited OBGYN articles published in nonspecialty vs OBGYN journals. These differences may reflect the different goals of the journals, which work together to ensure optimal dissemination of impactful articles.

Abstract
PURPOSE Citation analysis is one of the most commonly used bibliometric tools for measuring the academic importance of a report in a specific area of knowledge. The objective of the present study was to identify the 100 most cited reports on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), determine their main bibliometric characteristics, and identify the bibliometric variables that affected the citation rates. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed a data search in the Scopus database to determine the number of MRONJ article citations up to September 30, 2018. We next selected the 100 most referenced studies and recorded the following information: ranking according to the number of citations; citation density; number and names of authors; language and year of publication; country and institution of origin; financial support; journal name, impact factor, category, and quartile; type of research; evidence level; and area of study. RESULTS The 100 most cited reports had a mean citation density of 21.7 ± 20.7 (range, 6.2 to 99.4) and an h-index of 96. The 100 most cited reports on MRONJ had been published in 42 scientific journals, classified into 10 separate categories of the Journal Citation Reports; 56% of the articles were in the first quartile of their category. Most of the studies had been classified with a level of evidence of 4 (n = 45) or 5 (n = 29). In the bivariate analyses, only the conflict of interest (P = .002) was associated with citation density. After adjusting for numerous variables, conflict of interest (r = 0.27; P = .020) and country of the first author (r = 0.23; P = .043) were significantly associated with citation density. CONCLUSIONS The 100 most cited studies of MRONJ had a large number of citations and had been reported in journals with a high impact factor; however, the studies had a generally low evidence level and randomized clinical trials were lacking.

Abstract
Introduction The Journal of Neurosurgery (JNS) published its first volume in 1944 and has evolved into the top cited journal in the field of neurosurgery. The aim of this study was to determine and characterize the 100 most cited (based on the total number of citations) vs. most relevant (based on the number of citations per year) articles originating in JNS. Methods The top 100 most cited articles in JNS were determined by searching the Web of Science database. Citations per year were additionally calculated for the top 1000 articles by total citations to rank the 100 most relevant articles. Results The median number of total citations for the 100 most cited articles in JNS was 505 (range 383-2200), and the median number of citations per year for the 100 most relevant articles was 21.88 (range 17.31-82.61). The median year of publication for the 100 most cited and most relevant articles was 1990 and 1999, respectively (P < 0.0001). Most articles originated in the United States in both categories (72% and 71%, respectively). The most common topic of study was cerebrovascular on both lists, followed by trauma on the most cited list vs. tumor on the most relevant list. The most relevant list also contained considerably more articles with a higher level of evidence such as systemic reviews/meta-analyses and prospective studies. Conclusions This study highlights the key contributing factors to the growth and flourishing of JNS. It also reveals several discrepancies between the most cited and most relevant articles, with the latter including more recently published articles, more studies addressing tumor, and more level I/1 (NHMRC/CEBM) evidence. Bibliometric analysis serves as a useful tool for clinicians and researchers to appraise published literature and understand the scientific foundation of modern neurosurgery.
