Abstract
Shell nacre from Pinctada species has been extensively researched for managing bone defects. However, there is a gap in the research regarding using shell nacre powder as a cement with improved biological and physicochemical properties. To address this, bone void filling cement was formulated by incorporating shell nacre powder and an organically modified ceramic resin (ormocer). The shell nacre powder was specifically processed from the shells of Pinctada fucata and analysed using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopy, confirming the presence of organic constituents and inorganic aragonite. Trace element analysis confirmed the eligibility of shell nacre powder for biomedical applications. Next, the ormocer SNLSM2 was synthesized through a modified sol-gel method. FTIR, Raman, TGA, and transmission electron microscopy studies revealed the presence of a ladder-structured siloxane backbone and methacrylate side chain. To develop chemical curable composite shell nacre cement (SNC), different amounts of shell nacre (24%, 48%, and 72%) were added to the SNLSM2 resin, and the impact on the physicochemical properties of the cement was studied. Among the compositions, SNC 72 exhibited significantly lower linear polymerization shrinkage (0.4%) and higher compressive (>100 MPa) and flexural strength (>35 MPa). SNC 72 was radiopaque, and the exotherm generated during the cement curing was minimal. Cytotoxicity studies with L929 cells revealed the non-cytotoxic nature of the cement. Overall, the findings of this study prove that the shell nacre cement is a promising candidate for managing bone voids.

Abstract
Hybrid polysiloxanes and polysilsesquioxanes grafted with naturally occurring bioactive phytochemicals: eugenol and linalool, were synthesized and investigated with regard to their structure and properties. The two series of materials, differing in the type of inorganic structure and the content of active groups, were coated onto the surface of glass plates, and their antibiofilm activities against bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila were assessed by luminometry and fluorescence microscopy. Bioactivity was correlated with specific properties of the hybrid coatings (chemical structure, surface free energy and adhesiveness). The functionalized polysilsesquioxanes exhibited the most favorable anti-adhesive effects. Cell adhesion after 6 days of incubation, expressed as RLU/cm2, was significantly reduced (44 and 67 for, respectively, Z-E-100 and Z-L-100, compared to 517 for the control glass carrier). The surface stickiness of polysiloxane films deteriorated their anti-adhesion properties, despite the presence of a large amount of bioactive species.

Abstract
Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) based aerogel are prepared by the sol-gel method. The objective of this work is to study the impact of surfactant and base catalyst on the thermal and mechanical performance of the corresponding aerogel. The rheological premonitory assists in predicting the bulk properties of the aerogel. The chemical structure of the aerogel is studied by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). X-ray microtomographic (XMT) analysis confirms the homogeneous and monolithic structure of the aerogel. The lowest thermal conductivity is achieved as 23.21 mW m-1 K-1 with V-0 and HBF rating through UL-94 test. Thermal performance of aerogels is cross-verified through modeling and simulation in COMSOL multiphysics platform. The mechanical properties of aerogel are evaluated by monolithic compression test in axial and radial compression test up to 90% strain, cyclic compression loading-unloading, and reloading test, flexural test, and dynamic mechanical analysis. The time-temperature analysis has shown around 5 °C temperature difference in the middle of the room after using the aerogel panel at the exposed surface, which assists in the practical application of the synthesized aerogel panel.

Abstract
Polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) has become a kind of widely studied filler used in the electronic circuit board substrates due to its organic-inorganic hybrid structure, low dielectric constant, and good thermal stability, among other factors. Herein, the PMSQ microspheres were prepared by a two-step acid-base-catalyzed sol-gel method; the influences of reaction conditions including the ratio of water/methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS), reaction temperature, concentration of the catalyst, and stirring time were systematically investigated; and the optimized reaction condition was then obtained towards a narrow particle size distribution and good sphericity. The microstructure of PMSQ microspheres was analyzed by the infrared spectrum and X-ray diffraction (XRD), which indicated that the as-prepared PMSQ had a ladder-dominant structure. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) demonstrated an excellent thermal stability of as-prepared PMSQ microspheres. More specifically, the dielectric constants at high frequency (1~20 GHz) of as-prepared PMSQ microspheres were measured to be about 3.7, which turned out a lower dielectric constant compared to SiO2 powder (≈4.0). This study paves the way to further improve the performance of the electronic circuit board substrates for the application of high-frequency electronic packaging.

Abstract
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones are attracting increasing interest in the aviation industry, both for military and civilian applications. The materials used so far in the manufacture of UAVs are wood, plastic, aluminum and carbon fiber. In this regard, a new family of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) nanocomposites reinforced with polymethylsilsesquioxane nanoparticles (PMSQ), with mechanical performances significantly superior to those of pure HPDE, has been prepared by a fusion-combination process. Their viscoelastic properties were determined by oscillatory shear tests and their viscoelastic behavior characterized by the Lodge integral model. Then, the Lagrangian formulation and the membrane theory assumption were used in the explicit implementation of the dynamic finite element formulation. For the forming phase, we considered the thermodynamic approach to express the external work in terms of closed volume. In terms of von Mises stress distribution and thickness in the blade, the results indicate that HDPE-PMSQ behaves like virgin HDPE. Furthermore, its materials, for all intents and purposes, require the same amount of energy to form as HDPE.

Abstract
EPOSS of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) mixture structure and LPSQ of ladder-like polysilsesquioxane (LPSQ) structure were synthesized via sol–gel reaction. EPSQ had a high molecular weight due to polycondensation by potassium carbonate. The EPSQ film showed uniform surface morphology due to regular double-stranded structure. In contrast, the EPOSS-coated film showed nonuniform surface morphology due to strong aggregation. Due to the aggregation, the EPOSS film had shorter d-spacing (d1) than the EPSQ film in XRD analysis. In pencil hardness and nanoindentation analysis, EPSQ film showed higher hardness than the EPOSS film due to regular double-stranded structure. In addition, in the in-folding (r = 0.5 mm) and out-folding (r = 5 mm) tests, the EPSQ film did not crack unlike the EPOSS coated film.

Abstract
Numerical modeling of the thermoforming process of polymeric sheets requires precise knowledge of the viscoelastic behavior under conjugate effect pressure and temperature. Using two different experiments, bubble inflation and dynamic mechanical testing on a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) nanocomposite reinforced with polymethylsilsesquioxane HDPE (PMSQ-HDPE) nanoparticles, material constants for Christensen's model were determined by the least squares optimization. The viscoelastic identification relative to the inflation test seemed to be the most appropriate for the numerical study of thermoforming of a thin PMSQ-HDPE part. For this purpose, the finite element method was considered.
