Abstract
The aim of this paper is to design near-infrared (NIR) Al3+ fluorescent probes based on a Schiff base to extend their applications in biological systems. By combining benzo[h]quinoline unit and salicylaldehyde acylhydrazone, we designed two new Schiff base derivatives. According to theoretical simulations on previous experimental Al3+ probes, we obtained the appropriate theoretical approaches to describe the properties of these fluorescent probes. By employing such approaches on our newly designed molecules, it is found that the new molecules have high selectivity toward Al3+ and that their corresponding Al3+ complexes can emit NIR fluorescence. As a result, they are expected to be potential NIR Al3+ fluorescent probes.

Abstract
In this paper, a simple naphthalene-based derivative (HL) has been designed and synthesized as a Al3+-selective fluorescent chemosensor based on the PET mechanism. HL exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards Al3+ over other commonly coexisting metal ions in ethanol with a detection limit of 2.72nM. The 1:1 binding stoichiometry of the complex (HL-Al3+) was determined from the Job's plot based on fluorescence titrations and the ESI-MS spectrum data. Moreover, the binding site of HL with Al3+ was assured by the 1H NMR titration experiment. The binding constant (Ka) of the complex (HL-Al3+) was calculated to be 5.06×104M-1 according to the Benesi-Hildebrand equation. In addition, the recognizing process of HL towards Al3+ was chemically reversible by adding Na2EDTA. Importantly, HL could directly and rapidly detect aluminum ion through the filter paper without resorting to additional instrumental analysis.

Abstract
A new "turn-on" fluorescent probe, RDMBM, based on the rhodamine B dye and the 2,5-pyrrolidinedione moiety was synthesized and characterized. Its sensing behavior toward various amino acids was evaluated via UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopic techniques. The observed spectral changes showed that RDMBM displays high selectivity and sensitivity toward GSH in MeOH/H2O (1:2, v/v, pH 7.40, Tris-HCl buffer, 1 mM) solution and that it undergoes 1:1 covalent binding with GSH. More importantly, the hydrogenation and ring-opening of the nitrogen atom in the spirane structure of rhodamine B derivatives were tightly bound to the induction effects of different groups. Furthermore, fluorescence imaging applications demonstrated that RDMBM can be successfully used for the detection of GSH in human breast cancer cells MCF-7.

Abstract
A novel chemosensor L based on coumarin Schiff-base was synthesized and investigated. Sensor L showed remarkable selectivity for Al(3+) in Tris-HCl aqueous buffer solution (pH 7.2), and the selectivity was not affected by the presence of a large excess of other competitive ions. The sensor responded rapidly to Al(3+) in aqueous solutions with a 2:1 stoichiometry. Meanwhile, it indicated significant improvement of quantum efficiency and ideal fluorescent lifetime.
