Abstract
Cerium and lanthanum dialkyl complexes [η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2]Ln(CH2C6H4-o-NMe2)2 (Ln = Ce 1 and La 2), supported by a tri-tert-butylcyclopentadienyl ligand, have been successfully synthesized. Studies demonstrate that these complexes possess diverse reactivity toward various small molecules. For example, the reaction of complexes 1 and 2 with diphenyl dichalcogenides PhEEPh (E = S, Se) results in the formation of lanthanide thiolates [(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)Ln(SPh)(μ-SPh)]2 (Ln = Ce 3 and La 4) and selenolates [(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)Ln(SePh)(μ-SePh)]2 (Ln = Ce 5 and La 6), concomitantly releasing PhE(CH2C6H4-o-NMe2). Furthermore, complexes 1 and 2, upon reaction with dibenzyl disulfide, yield tetranuclear rare-earth metallomacrocyclic compounds {[(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)Ln(μ-SCH2C6H5)]2(μ-η3:η3-SCHC6H5)}2 (Ln = Ce 7 and La 8). This reaction may involve a process of σ-bond metathesis and C-H activation. While the reaction of 1 and 2 with dibenzyl diselenide in the presence of LiCH2C6H4-o-NMe2 leads to the formation of lanthanide-lithium selenido clusters [(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)La(μ-SeCH2C6H5)]3(μ3-Se)[μ3-SeLi(THF)3] (Ln = Ce 9 and La 10). Meanwhile, lanthanide selenido clusters [(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)La(μ-SeCH2C6H4-o-NMe2)]4(μ3-Se)2 (Ln = Ce 11 and La 12) can be obtained by treating 1 and 2 with elemental selenium in a 1:2 molar ratio. Additionally, the treatment of 1 and 2 with benzoxazole generates ring-opening/C-C coupling/C-N coupling products {(η5-1,2,4-(Me3C)3C5H2)La[μ-OC6H4-o-N═CHN(CH(CH2C6H4-o-NMe2)2C6H4-o-O]}2 (Ln = Ce 13 and La 14). All new compounds were characterized by various spectroscopic methods, and their solid-state structures were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses.

Abstract
Azametallacyclopentadienes are an important class of metallacycles as the key intermediates in metal-promoted or catalyzed carbon-carbon coupling reaction of nitriles and alkynes. Rare-earth azametallacyclopentadienes have shown various reactivity toward nitriles, depending on the substituents of nitriles. The reaction of azalutetacyclopentadienes toward 2-methylbenzonitriles has been investigated in this work, which selectively affords the fused 7-5-6-membered azalutetacycles as products. Computational studies reveal that the reaction of azalutetacyclopentadienes toward 2-methylbenzonitriles selectively initiates with the remote activation of the benzylic C-H bond by the Lu-N bond, followed by the intramolecular nucleophilic attack from the deprotonated benzylic carbon to form a C-C bond. Subsequently, the high ring strain promoted the generation of the uncoordinated carbanion dissociated from the lutetium center, which then undergoes intramolecular nucleophilic attack toward C=N triple bond to give the final product containing fused 7-5-6-membered azalutetacycle. This work not only achieves highly selective three-step cascade reaction to form a unique class of rare-earth metallacycle, but also provides a new idea for the transformation of unsaturated substrates with C-H bonds that can be activated.

Abstract
A series of binuclear rare-earth metal complexes based on the ligands containing bis(phosphinophenyl)amido-PNP unit are successfully synthesized. All the ligands and the corresponding binuclear complexes are fully characterized by NMR spectra (1H, 13C, and 31P). In conjunction with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], all the binuclear complexes exhibited high catalytic activity and high cis-1,4-selectivity (>99%) toward the polymerization of 1,3-conjugated dienes (isoprene, β-myrcene and β-farnesene) with excellent livingness at room temperature or even 80 °C.

Abstract
The pincer rare-earth dialkyl complexes [κ3-LRE(CH2SiMe3)2 (RE = Lu(1a), Yb(1b), Er(1c), Y(1d), Dy(1e))] with the indol-2-yl-based NCN pincer ligand were synthesized by the reactions of the proligand HL (L = 1-Me2NCH2CH2-3-(2-iPrC6H5N═CH)C8H4N) with RE(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2. These complexes exhibited a variety of reactivities toward organic compounds such as amines, triphenylphosphine ylide, N-phenylimidazole, pyridine derivatives, and o-carborane leading to σ-bond metathesis, migration insertion, and redox reaction products. The reactions of the dialkyl rare-earth metal complexes with o-carborane afforded the novel NCN pincer-ligated carboryne-based metallacyclopropanes which reacted with diphenyl ketone to give insertion products of the RE-C2-ind and one of the RE-Ccage bonds, while the reaction of the carboryne-based metallacyclopropanes with diphenyldiazomethane produced the di-aza-metallacyclopentanes via the insertions of the N═N bond of the diphenyldiazomethane into two RE-Ccage bonds and the RE-C2-ind bond. The reactions of the dialkyl complexes with 2 equiv of 2,2'-bipyridine afforded the pincer-ligated bis(2,2'-bipyridyl monoanionic radical) complexes via the homolytic redox reaction.

Abstract
Well-defined low-valent molecular rare-earth metal hydrides are rare, and limited to Yb2+ and Eu2+ centers. Here, we report the first example of the divalent samarium(ii) hydrido complex [(CpAr5)SmII(μ-H)(DABCO)]2 (4) (CpAr5 = C5Ar5, Ar = 3,5-iPr2-C6H3; DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclooctane) supported by a super-bulky penta-arylcyclopentadienyl ligand, resulting from the hydrogenolysis of the samarium(ii) alkyl complex [(CpAr5)SmII{CH(SiMe3)2}(DABCO)] (3). Complex 4 exhibits multi-electron redox reactivity toward a variety of substrates. Exposure of complex 4 to CO2 results in the formation of the trivalent samarium(iii) mixed-bis-formate/carbonate complex [(CpAr5)SmIII(μ-η2:η1-O2CH)(μ-η2:η2-CO3)(μ-η1:η1-O2CH)SmIII(CpAr5)(DABCO)] (8), mediated by hydride insertion and reductive disproportionation reactions. Complex 4 shows four-electron reduction toward four equivalents of CS2 to afford the trivalent samarium(iii) bis-trithiocarbonate complex [(CpAr5)SmIII(μ-η2:η2-CS3)(DABCO)]2 (9). A mechanistic study of the formation of complex 8 was carried out using DFT calculations.

Abstract
A series of bis(oxazoline) rare-earth metal dialkyl complexes [(L)Ln(CH2SiMe3)2(THF)n] (L = L1 (dimethyl-substituted bis(oxazoline) ligand), Ln = Y (1-Y), Lu (1-Lu), Sc (1-Sc), n = 1; L = L2 (phenyl-substituted bis(oxazoline) ligand), Ln = Y (2-Y), Lu (2-Lu), Sc (2-Sc), n = 2) was successfully prepared. NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction indicated that all the complexes ligated with a C2 symmetric bis(oxazoline) and two trimethylsilylmethyl ligands. In the presence of borate and triisobutyl aluminium, these complexes exhibited high catalytic activity for the polymerization of isoprene, yielding the polymer with high cis-1,4-regularity (up to 99.9%) and high molecular weight. Moreover, these ternary catalytic systems also served as efficient initiators for the polymerization of polar ortho-methoxystyrene. However, atactic polymers in all the cases were isolated despite the C2 symmetric geometry of bis(oxazoline) ligands.

Abstract
While the concept of metalla-aromaticity has well been extended to transition organometallic compounds in diverse geometries, aromatic rare-earth organometallic complexes are rare due to the special (n - 1)d0 configuration and high-lying (n - 1)d orbitals of rare-earth centers. In particular, nonplanar cases of rare-earth complexes have not been reported so far. Here, we disclose the nonplanar aromaticity of dinuclear scandium and samarium metallacycles characterized by various aromaticity indices (nucleus-independent chemical shift, isochemical shielding surface, anisotropy of induced current density, and isomerization stabilization energy). Bonding analyses (Kohn-Sham molecular orbital, adaptive natural density partitioning, multicenter bond indices, and principal interacting orbital) reveal that three delocalized π orbitals, predominantly contributed by the 2-butene tetraanion ligand, result in the formation of six-electron conjugated systems. Guided by these findings, we predicted that the lutetium and gadolinium analogues of dinuclear rare-earth metallacycles should be aromatic, which have been verified by the successful synthesis of real molecules. This work extends the concept of nonplanar aromaticity to the field of rare-earth metallacycles and illuminates the path for designing and synthesizing various rare-earth metalla-aromatics.

Abstract
The development of catalysts for stereospecific polymerization of 1,3-dienes is an area of interest due to the robust nature of poly(1,3-diene)s' physical and mechanical properties, as well as the material's versatility in many applications. Dialkyl rare earth metal complexes supported by a diverse cast of ligand frameworks are selective for the polymerization of 1,3-dienes and are an exciting option for examination. However, development in this area has been hampered by the focus on complex catalyst systems that are costly to make. In this study, we synthesize a series of simple homoleptic trialkyl rare earth metal precatalysts and highlight their efficacy for isoprene polymerization using 1 or 2 equiv of [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] activator. We investigated the addition of commercially available in situ donors, leading to the identification of triphenylphosphine as an ideal support to enhance the dispersity control and prevent loss of catalyst activity. We demonstrated how the activation and reaction conditions, including the order/time of reagent addition and donor electronics, had a major impact on the rate, control, and selectivity for the polymerization of 1,3-dienes. Further interrogation of the catalyst system signals the crucial role of triphenylphosphine in providing enhanced stability and control in this living catalyst system.

Abstract
Guanidinate homometallic rare-earth ethyl complexes [LLn(μ2-η1:η2-Et)(Et)]2 (Ln = Y(1-Y), Lu(1-Lu)) and heterobimetallic rare-earth ethyl complexes LLn(Et)(μ2-η1:η2-Et)(μ2-η1-Et)(AlEt2) (Ln = Y(2-Y), Lu(2-Lu)) have been synthesized by the treatment of LLn(CH2C6H4NMe2-o)2 (L = (PhCH2)2NC(NC6H3iPr2-2,6)2) with different equivalents of AlEt3 in toluene at ambient temperature. Interestingly, the unprecedented rare-earth ethyne complex [LY(μ2-η1-Et)2(AlEt)]2(μ4-η1:η1:η2:η2-C2H2) (3-Y) containing a [C2H2]4- unit was afforded from 2-Y. The formation mechanism study on 3-Y was carried out by DFT calculations. Furthermore, the nature of the bonding of 3-Y was also revealed by NBO analysis. The reactions of LLn(CH2 C6H4NMe2-o)2 (Ln = Y, Lu) with AlEt3 (4 equiv.) in toluene at 50 °C produced firstly the non-Cp rare-earth ethylene complex LY(μ3-η1:η1:η2-C2H4)[(μ2-η1-Et)(AlEt2)(μ2-η1-Et)2(AlEt)] (4-Y), and the Y/Al ethyl complex LY[(μ2-η1-Et)2(AlEt2)]2 (5-Y) as an intermediate of 4-Y was isolated from the reaction of LY(CH2C6H4NMe2-o)2 with AlEt3 (4 equiv.) in toluene at -10 °C.

[(Bn2Cyclam)Y(N(SiMe3)2)] was prepared by reaction of H2Bn2Cyclam with Y[N(SiMe3)2]3. DFT analysis of [(Bn2Cyclam)Y(N(SiMe3)2)] showed that the HOMO is located on the anionic nitrogen atoms of the cyclam ring indicating that protonation follows orbital control. Addition of H2Bn2Cyclam and H2(3,5-tBu2Bn)2Cyclam to a 1:3 mixture of YCl3 and LiCH2SiMe3 in THF resulted in the formation of [((C6H4CH2)BnCyclam)Y(THF)(µ-Cl)Li(THF)2] and [Y{(η3-3,5-tBu2Bn)2Cyclam}Li(THF)], respectively. The reaction of H23,5-tBu2Bn2Cyclam with Y(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 was studied and monitored by a temperature variation NMR experiment revealing the formation of [(3,5-tBu2Bn2Cyclam)Y(CH2SiMe3)]. Preliminary catalytic assays have shown that [Y{(η3-3,5-tBu2Bn)2Cyclam}Li(THF)] is a very efficient catalyst for the intramolecular hydroamination of 2,2-diphenyl-pent-4-enylamine.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction between 4,5-dibromo-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethylxanthene and 2 equiv. of 1,3-diisopropylimidazolin-2-imine afforded the rigid neutral 2,7-di-tert-butyl-4,5-bis(1,3-diisopropylimidazolin-2-imino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene (XII2) pincer ligand. Reaction of XII2 with YCl3(THF)3.5 provided [(XII2)YCl3] (1). However, compound 1 failed to react cleanly with 3 equiv. of LiCH2SiMe3, and the reaction of XII2 with [Y(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2] afforded a complex mixture of products. To access group 3 alkyl complexes without the intermediacy of [(XII2)M(CH2SiMe3)3], the XII2 ligand was protonated using [H(OEt2)2][B(C6F5)4] to form [H(XII2)][B(C6F5)4], and subsequent reaction with [M(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2] (M = Y, Sc) directly afforded the cationic scandium and yttrium dialkyl complexes [(XII2)M(CH2SiMe3)2][B(C6F5)4] {M = Y (2) and Sc (3)}. Reaction of 3 with B(C6F5)3 in C6D5Br afforded dicationic [(XII2)Sc(CH2SiMe2CH2SiMe3)][MeB(C6F5)3][B(C6F5)4] (4) featuring a CH2SiMe2CH2SiMe3 ligand, formed as a result of methyl anion abstraction from silicon, with concomitant migration of the neighbouring CH2SiMe3 group from scandium to silicon. The MeB(C6F5)3 anion in 4 forms a contact ion pair. By contrast, reaction of 1 with [CPh3][B(C6F5)3] in C6D5Br/toluene or o-C6H4F2/toluene afforded dicationic [(XII2)Sc(CH2SiMe3)(ηx-toluene)n][B(C6F5)4]2 (5). Compounds 2-4 showed negligible ethylene polymerization activity, whereas 5 is highly active (up to 870 kg mol-1 h-1 atm-1 in o-C6H4F2/toluene under 1 atm of ethylene at room temperature).

Abstract
The first examples of regioselective aryl ortho-C-H functionalization with diphenyldiazomethane for the construction of Caryl-Nhydrazinato bonds were accomplished via the activation of C-H bonds and the subsequent reaction of diphenyldiazomethane with the RE-Caryl bond. The reactions of rare-earth metal monoalkyl complexes LRE(CH2SiMe3)(THF)2 (L = 2,5-[(2-pyrrolyl)CPh2]2(N-Me-pyrrole)) supported by a neutral N-methylpyrrole anchored dipyrrolyl ligand with 2 equiv. of Ph2CN2 gave irreversibly unprecedented hydrazonato-functionalized imino rare-earth metal complexes LRE(Ph2CNNC6H4-(o-CNHPh) (RE = Y (2a), Lu (2a')) in good yields involving a rather complex process including the interaction of a diazo unit with a RE-Calkyl bond, a β-H elimination, a N-N cleavage, 1,4-hydrogen transfer and the subsequent C-N coupling with another diphenyldiazomethane. More important is that regioselective aryl C-H bond functionalization with diphenyldiazomethane to construct the Caryl-Nhydrazinato bonds can be easily achieved by three-component reactions of rare-earth metal monoalkyl complexes, a wide range of substituted imines (including aldimines, ketimines or analogous 2-phenylpyridine) and diphenyldiazomethane, affording various hydrazonato-functionalized phenyl, thienyl imino or pyridyl rare-earth metal complexes 2b-2j at room temperature. A further study indicated that the substituents on the phenyl ring have a great effect on the reaction pathway and governed the Caryl-Nhydrazinato bond construction. Moreover, the experimental studies show that the formation of the Caryl-Nhydrazinato bonds is thermodynamically facile, which could be realized at room temperature easily.

Abstract
The salt metathesis reactions of the yttrium methanediide iodide complex [Y(BIPM)(I)(THF)2] (BIPM = {C(PPh2NSiMe3)2}) with the group 1 silanide ligand-transfer reagents MSiR3 (M = Na, R3 = tBu2Me or tBu3; M = K, R3 = (SiMe3)3) gave the yttrium methanediide silanide complexes [Y(BIPM)(SitBu2Me)(THF)] (1), [Y(BIPM)(SitBu3)(THF)] (2), and [Y(BIPM){Si(SiMe3)3}(THF)] (3). Complexes 1-3 provide rare examples of structurally authenticated rare earth metal-silicon bonds and were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, multinuclear NMR and ATR-IR spectroscopies, and elemental analysis. Density functional theory calculations were performed on 1-3 to probe their electronic structures further, revealing predominantly ionic Y-Si bonding. The computed Y-Si bonds show lower covalency than Y═C bonds, which are in turn best represented by Y+-C- dipolar forms due to the strong σ-donor properties of the silanide ligands investigated; these observations are in accord with experimentally obtained 13C{1H} and 29Si{1H} NMR data for 1-3 and related Y(III) BIPM alkyl complexes in the literature. Preliminary reactivity studies were performed, with complex 1 treated separately with benzophenone, azobenzene, and N,N'-dicyclohexyl-carbodiimide. 29Si{1H} and 31P{1H} NMR spectra of these reaction mixtures indicated that 1,2-migratory insertion of the unsaturated substrate into the Y-Si bond is favored, while for the latter substrate, a [2 + 2]-cycloaddition reaction also occurs at the Y═C bond to afford [Y{C(PPh2NSiMe3)2[C(NCy)2]-κ4C,N,N',N'}{C(NCy)2(SitBu2Me)-κ2N,N'}] (4); these reactivity profiles complement and contrast with those of Y(III) BIPM alkyl complexes.

Abstract
Reaction of [(XA2)U(CH2SiMe3)2] (1; XA2 = 4,5-bis(2,6-diisopropylanilido)-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethylxanthene) with 1 equivalent of [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] in arene solvents afforded the arene-coordinated uranium alkyl cations, [(XA2)U(CH2SiMe3)(η n -arene)][B(C6F5)4] {arene = benzene (2), toluene (3), bromobenzene (4) and fluorobenzene (5)}. Compounds 2, 3, and 5 were crystallographically characterized, and in all cases the arene is π-coordinated. Solution NMR studies of 2-5 suggest that the binding preferences of the [(XA2)U(CH2SiMe3)]+ cation follow the order: toluene ≈ benzene > bromobenzene > fluorobenzene. Compounds 2-4 generated in C6H5R (R = H, Me or Br, respectively) showed no polymerization activity under 1 atm of ethylene. By contrast, 5 and 5-Th (the thorium analogue of 5) in fluorobenzene at 20 and 70 °C achieved ethylene polymerization activities between 16 800 and 139 200 g mol-1 h-1 atm-1, highlighting the extent to which common arene solvents such as toluene can suppress ethylene polymerization activity in sterically open f-element complexes. However, activation of [(XA2)An(CH2SiMe3)2] {M = U (1) or Th (1-Th)} with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] in n-alkane solvents did not afford an active polymerization catalyst due to catalyst decomposition, illustrating the critical role of PhX (X = H, Me, Br or F) coordination for alkyl cation stabilization. Gas phase DFT calculations, including fragment interaction calculations with energy decomposition and ETS-NOCV analysis, were carried out on the cationic portion of 2'-Th, 2', 3' and 5' (analogues of 2-Th, 2, 3 and 5 with hydrogen atoms in place of ligand backbone methyl and tert-butyl groups), providing insight into the nature of actinide-arene bonding, which decreases in strength in the order 2'-Th > 2' ≈ 3' > 5'.

Abstract
The tridentate PNP ligand-supported rare-earth metal complexes, i.e., bis[o-diphenylphosphinophenyl]amido-Re-bis[o-dimethylaminobenzyl], [(Ph2P-o-C6H4)2N]Re[(CH2-o-Me2N(C6H4))2]: (Re = Y, 1; Nd, 2; Gd, 3) were applied to isoprene polymerization. When activated with borate activator ([PhMe2NH][B(C6F5)4] (NH-BARF), catalysts 1 and 3 exhibited excellent catalytic efficiency in aromatic media, produced very-high to ultrahigh molecular weight (Mw over 130 × 104 g/moL) polyisoprene rubber (PIR), and the obtained PIR contained over 98% cis-1,4 head-to-tail repeating unites. In most cases, the borate-activated polymerization reaction proceeded in a quasi-living pattern (PDI = 1.2–1.5) under controlled monomer conversion; whereas, activated with the commercially available modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO3A) in aliphatic hydrocarbon media, complexes 1, 2 and 3 all showed high catalytic efficiency, produced high molecular weight PIR with narrow molecular weight distribution (PDI ≤ 2.0) and high cis-1,4 head-to tail repeating unites in the range of 91–95%. Thus, the catalyst systems that consisted of 1, 2 and 3/MMAO3A, are closely relevant to the current industrial polybutadiene rubber (PBR) and PIR production processes.

Abstract
A series of bis(alkyl) complexes {(tBu)C[N(2,6-Me2C6H3)]2}Ln(CH2SiMe3)2(THF)n (Ln = Y, n = 1 (1); Ln = Sc, n = 1 (2)), {2-[Ph2P(O)]C6H4NC(tBu)N(2,6-Me2C6H3)}Sc(CH2SiMe3)2 (3), {2-[Ph2P(NPh)]C6H4NC(tBu)N(2,6-Me2C6H3)}Sc(CH2SiMe3)2 (4) coordinated by bidentate (N,N) and tridentate (N,N,O; N,N,N) amidinate ligands are synthesized using an alkane elimination approach. Yttrium complex 1 demonstrated a half-life of ∼2.5 days at room temperature in benzene-D6 (C6D6) solution, whereas scandium complexes proved to be much more stable (25 d (2), 30 d (3) and 42 d (4)). Complexes 1-4 as a part of ternary catalytic systems 1-4/TB, HNB/AlR3 (AlR3 = AliBu3, AliBu2H; TB = [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], HNB = [PhNHMe2][B(C6F5)4]) demonstrated high catalytic activity in isoprene polymerization and enable 80%-100% conversion of 1000 equivalents of monomer into polymer at 25 °C within 3-180 min. The isolated polyisoprenes feature predominantly cis-1,4-regularity (69.2%-87.3%) and polydispersities Mw/Mn = 2.26-8.92. Moreover, the binary (2/TB) and ternary (1-4/TB/10 AliBu3) systems initiate 1-heptene polymerization providing 40%-100% conversion of 500 equivalents of monomer in 24 h at 25 °C giving polymer samples with Mn = 1.55-190.2 × 103 and Mw/Mn = 1.55-3.87.

Novel N,N,N-tridentate β-diketiminato rare-earth-metal dialkyl complexes LRE(CH2SiMe3)2 [RE = Y (1a), Gd (1b), Yb (1c), Lu (1d); L = MeC(NDipp)CHC(Me)N(CH2)2NC4H8, where Dipp = 2,6-iPr2C6H3] have been conveniently synthesized by one step from reactions of the rare-earth-metal trialkyl complexes RE(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 (THF = tetrahydrofuran) with a pyrrolidine-functionalized β-diketiminate HL, and their catalytic behaviors toward hydroalkoxylation and tandem hydroalkoxylation/cyclohydroamination of isocyanates have been described. These rare-earth-metal catalysts exhibited high efficiency in the hydroalkoxylation of isocyanates, providing a variety of N-alkyl and N-aryl carbamate derivatives under mild reaction conditions with a rather low catalyst loading (0.04 mol %). More significantly, they can promote a tandem hydroalkoxylation/cyclohydroamination reaction between terminal and internal propargylic alcohols with substituted arylisocyanates, leading to the efficient synthesis of methylene and (Z)-selective arylidene oxazolidinones in good-to-high yields via consecutive C-O and C-N bond formation. The stoichiometric reaction of 1a with p-tolylisocyanate generated an unusual dinuclear yttrium complex, {[η2-(4-MePhNCO)(CH2SiMe3)]Y[μ-η2:η1:η1-(4-MePhNCO)CC(Me)(NDipp)C(Me)N(CH2)2NC4H8]}2 (7a), with two different amidate units, which underwent an sp2 C-H bond activation of the β-diketiminato backbone, followed by the insertion of isocyanate.

Abstract
An isostructural set of macrocyclic tetra-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes were synthesized on late lanthanides including Lu, Yb, Ho, Dy, and Gd. They were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, multinuclear NMR, electrochemistry, and SQUID magnetometry. Solid-state structures show that all complexes are in a highly distorted square-pyramidal geometry with an axial HMDS ligand. 1H NMR for Lu, Yb, and Dy demonstrates that these geometries are maintained in solution. Electrochemical measurements on the Yb complex show that the NHCs are very strong σ-donors compared to other organometallic Yb complexes. Magnetic measurements of the Yb and Dy complexes reveal slow relaxation of the magnetization in both complexes. The highly anisotropic Dy complex possesses an energy barrier to spin reversal of 52.42 K/36.43 cm-1 and waist-restricted hysteresis up to 2.8 K. Finally, an 18-atom macrocycle variant of the Lu complex was synthesized for comparison in reactivity and stability. These complexes are the first lanthanides prepared with macrocyclic NHCs and suggest that NHCs may be a promising ligand for developing single-molecule magnets.

Abstract
The reactions of 2-imino-2,3-dihydrobenzoxazole LH with M[N(SiMe3)2]2(THF)2 (M = Yb and Ca) and Y(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 proceed with the opening of the dihydrobenzoxazole ring and the elimination of HN(SiMe3)2 or SiMe4. Besides, in the case of Yb[N(SiMe3)2]2(THF)2, an electron transfer from Yb(II) to L takes place and Yb(III) complex 1 is coordinated by a dianionic phenolate ligand containing a pendant radical-anionic diazabutadiene fragment form. When LH is reacted with Ca[N(SiMe3)2]2(THF)2, C-H bond activation of a methyl fragment by imino nitrogen occurs and affords a dimeric calcium complex 2. In 2, the phenolate ligand is dianionic due to the presence of the amido-imino fragment [R-NC(CH3)-C(CH2)-NR']- (R = 2,4-tBu2-C6H2O; R' = 2,6-iPr2C6H3). In situ generated ate-complex {Na(Et2O)n}{Ca[N(SiMe3)2]3} also enables C-H bond activation, however the dianionic phenolate ligand in the resulting complex 3 contains an amido-imino fragment [R-N-C(CH2)-C(CH3)NR']- featuring the sequence of N-C and NC bonds opposite to that in 2. The reaction of Y(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 with LH affords mono(alkyl) yttrium complex 4. 4 contains a dianionic amido-imino phenolate ligand resulting from the migration of one alkyl group to the CN bond [R-N-C(Me)(CH2SiMe3)-C(Me)NR']. 4 undergoes slow intramolecular C-H bond activation of the residual CH3 group to afford a yttrium complex coordinated by a trianionic diamido-phenolate ligand [R-N-C(Me)(CH2SiMe3)-C(CH2)NR'].

Abstract
The one-pot synthesis of well-defined block copolymers of olefins/1,3-dienes and polar monomers, such as cyclic esters and acrylates has long been the focus of intense research. Cationic alkyl rare earth metal catalysts, activated by organoborates, have shown to be promising for the polymerization of isoprene or styrene and ε-caprolactone. In this study, we synthesize a series of yttrium bis(alkyl) complexes supported by simple β-diketiminate ancillary ligands. Subtle changes have been made to the β-diketiminate ligand framework to elucidate the effect of ligand structure on the rate and selectivity of olefin/1,3-diene and cyclic ester polymerization, with small ligand changes having a large impact on the resulting polymerizations. Generation of the active cationic species was easily streamlined by identification of appropriate catalyst : organoborate ratios, allowing for high catalyst efficiencies. Notably, we demonstrate the first cationic rare earth metal alkyl-initiated polymerization of δ-valerolactone and ε-decalactone as well as introduced five new block copolymer morphologies. In addition, selective degradation of the ester block in poly(isoprene-b-caprolactone) enabled recovery of the polyisoprene block with identical spectroscopic and thermal properties. Significantly, recopolymerization of the recovered poly(1,3-diene) with fresh ε-caprolactone reproduced the desired diblocks with nearly identical thermal and physical properties to those of virgin copolymer, illustrating a plausible recycling scheme for these materials. Ligand features that promote one-pot block copolymerization of 1,3-dienes and cyclic esters were realized with yttrium β-diketiminate complexes. Depolymerization and repolymerization of the polyester block introduced a plausible recycling strategy.![]()

Abstract
The catalytic activity in amine-borane dehydrogenation is shown for the first time for Ln(II) species using complexes [{(p-tBu-C6H4)2CH}2M·L] (M = Yb, Sm, L = (DME)2, TMEDA). The protonation of M(II)-C bonds with HNR1R2BH3 affords amidoborane complexes [M(NR1R2BH3)2L], which under excess HNMe2BH3 transform to [NMe2BH2NMe2BH3]- derivatives, both serving as the dehydrocoupling intermediates.

Abstract
Thermal treatment of Cp*2YMe(thf) (Cp* = C5Me5), obtained from Cp*2Y(AlMe4) via donor-induced AlMe3 cleavage, in THF resulted in the concomitant formation of vinyl oxide Cp*2Y(OC2H3)(thf) and 2-ethylene-tetrahydrofuranyl complex Cp*2Y(2-C2H4-OC4H7) via the release of methane. In stark contrast, dissolving Cp*2La(AlMe4) in THF/n-hexane led to the quantitative formation of AlMe3-stabilized 2-tetrahydrofuranyl complex Cp*2La(2-AlMe3-OC4H7), with methane elimination.

Abstract
Abstract
Organometallic complexes of neodymium have unique coordinating ability to form both micro and macromolecules as well as metal-based polymers. These complexes have been reported in different fields and play a tremendous role in luminescence, catalytic, biological and magnetic applications. So, the current study will comprise all possible routes for the synthesis of organometallic complexes of neodymium. Neodymium complexes have been synthesized of single, double, triple and tetra linkages with H, C, N, O as well as S, B, and X. The detailed synthetic routes have been classified into four categories but in brief, neodymium forms complexes by reacting metal chloride, nitrate or oxide (hydrated or dehydrated) as precursor along with appropriate ligand. Most applied solvents for neodymium complexes were Toluene and THF. These complexes required a range of temperature based on the nature of complexes as well as linkages. The authors have surveyed the research work published through 2011–2020 and provide a comprehensive overview to understand the synthetic routes of organometallic complexes of neodymium.

Abstract
A family of rare-earth complexes bearing diarylamido-based pincer ligands with phosphino-, phenylthio- and quinolino-sidearms have been synthesized and fully characterized. Upon activation by [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], the scandium (P-Sc and S-Sc) and yttrium complexes (P-Y and S-Y) could catalyze the polymerization of isoprene with cis-1,4 selectivity (up to 98.8%), while the lutetium analogues P-Lu and S-Lu produced trans-1,4 selective polyisoprene (up to 83.3%). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to clarify the mechanisms for the metal-dependent stereoselective (cis to trans) polymerization of isoprene catalyzed by P-Sc, P-Y and P-Lu, suggesting that kinetically and thermodynamically more favorable insertion-isomerization during chain propagation is the key reason for P-Lu catalyzed trans-stereoselective isoprene polymerization.

Abstract
Mono- and dinuclear group 3 metal complexes incorporating polydentate bis(imino)phenoxy {N2O}- and bis(amido)phenoxy {N2O}3- ligands were synthesized by alkane elimination reactions from the tris(alkyl) M(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2 and M(CH2C6H4-o-NMe2)3 (M = Sc, Y) precursors. Complex 1a-Y was used for the selective C-H activation of 2-phenylpyridine at the 2'-phenyl position affording the corresponding bis(aryl) product 3a-Y, which was found to be reacted reluctantly with weak electrophiles (styrene, imines, hydrosilanes). The mechanism of formation of 3a-Y was established by DFT calculations, which also corroborated high stability of the complex toward insertion of styrene, apparently stemming from the inability to form the corresponding adduct. Copolymerization of cyclohexene oxide and CO2 promoted by 1a-Y (0.1-0.5 mol %) was demonstrated to proceed under mild conditions (toluene, 70 °C, PCO2 = 12 bar) giving polycarbonates with high efficiency (maximal TON of 460) and selectivity (97-99% of carbonate units).
