Abstract
We describe the development of [(NHC)Pd(cinnamyl)Cl] complexes of ImPy (ImPy = imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene) as a versatile class of precatalysts for cross-coupling reactions. These precatalysts feature fast activation to monoligated Pd(0) with 1:1 Pd to ligand ratio in a rigid imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene template. Steric matching of the C5-substituent and N2-wingtip in the catalytic pocket of the catalyst framework led to the discovery of ImPyMesDipp as a highly reactive imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene ligand for Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling of nitroarenes by challenging C-NO2 activation. Kinetic studies demonstrate fast activation and high reactivity of this class of well-defined ImPy-Pd catalysts. Structural studies provide full characteristics of this new class of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene ligands. Computational studies establish electronic properties of sterically-restricted imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene ligands. Finally, a scalable synthesis of C5-substituted imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene ligands through Ni-catalyzed Kumada cross-coupling is disclosed. The method obviates chromatographic purification at any of the steps, resulting in a facile and modular access to ImPy ligands. We anticipate that well-defined [Pd-ImPy] complexes will find broad utility in organic synthesis and catalysis for activation of unreactive bonds.

Abstract
A new polymeric NHC carrier was synthesized by sequential supramolecular self-assembly and copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) of amphiphilic imidazolium calix[4]arenes with octyl lipophilic fragments. Obtained polytriazole-imidazolium particles were found as monodisperse submicron particles, with the average diameter of 236 ± 34 nm and average molecular weight of 1380 ± 96 kDa. Successful CuAAC polymerization has been proved using IR spectroscopy and high-resolution ESI mass spectrometry. Polymeric particles, as well as aggregates made from precursor macrocycles, were decorated by Pd clusters (2 nm) for further catalytic investigations. Pd nanoclusters, supported on the polymeric surface, were found highly catalytically active in the model reduction of p-nitrophenol, giving reaction rates an order of magnitude higher compared to literature examples. The reaction was recycled using the same catalyst five times without any loss of activity.

Abstract
A new imidazolium amphiphilic calix[4]arene with terminal acetylene fragments in the polar region was synthesized according to a two step scheme including regioselective chloromethylation of distal di-O-butyl calix[4]arene and subsequent interaction with 1-(hex-5-yn-1-yl)-1H-imidazole. The aggregation properties (CAC, the size and zeta potential of aggregates) of alkynyl calix[4]arene as well as of previously synthesized azidopropyl calix[4]arene and their 1 : 1 mixture were disclosed. Macrocycles with azide and alkyne fragments in the polar region were covalently cross-linked under CuAAC conditions in water. Successful cross-linking of molecules has been proven by IR spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF spectrometry. The obtained polymeric particles were studied both in solution and the solid state and the presence of submicron (∼200 nm) and micron (∼1–5 μm) particles with the prevalence of the latter was found. The average molecular weight of the polymer according to the static light scattering data was found to be 639 ± 44 kDa. The obtained polymeric imidazolium–triazole particles were tested as a support for Pd(OAc)2 in the Mizoroki–Heck reaction carried out in both organic and water media. In both solvents (especially in water) the addition of imidazolium–triazole particles to Pd(OAc)2 increased the conversion of 4-iodanisole. It was found that the ratio between the products (1,1 and 1,2-substituted ethylenes) changes drastically on going from DMF to water from 1 : 5 to 1 : 40 when using supported Pd(OAc)2. A new supramolecular approach to the formation of polytriazole–imidazolium particles, promising supports for catalysis, based on self-assembly of amphiphilic bis-azides and bis alkynes and their linkage using CuAAC is presented.![]()

Abstract
The bis-NHC–Ag/Pd(OAc)2 catalytic system (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene), a combination of bis-NHC–Ag complex and Pd(OAc)2, was found to be a smart catalyst in the Pd-catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of various functionalized arenes and internal/terminal alkynes. The catalytic system demonstrated high efficiency for the reduction of a wide range of various functional groups such as carbonyls, alkynes, olefins, and nitro groups in good to excellent yields and high chemoselectivity for the reduction of functional groups. In addition, the protocol was successfully exploited to stereoselectivity for the transformation of alkynes to alkenes in aqueous media under air. This methodology successfully provided an alternative useful protocol for reducing various functional groups and a simple operational protocol for transfer hydrogenation.

Abstract
New water-soluble, N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) or mixed NHC/tertiary phosphine complexes [RhCl(cod)(sSIMes)], Na2[Rh(bmim)(cod)(mtppts)], and [Rh(bmim)(cod)(pta)]BF4 were synthetized and applied for the first time as catalysts in redox isomerization of allylic alcohols in aqueous media. [RhCl(cod)(sSIMes)] (with added sulfonated triphenylphosphine) and [Rh(bmim)(cod)(pta)]BF4 catalyzed selectively the transformation of allylic alcohols to the corresponding ketones. The highest catalytic activity, TOF = 152 h−1 (TOF = (mol reacted substrate) × (mol catalyst × time)−1) was observed in redox isomerization of hept-1-en-3-ol ([S]/[cat] = 100). The catalysts were reused in the aqueous phase at least three times, with only modest loss of the catalytic activity and selectivity.

Abstract
A known N-heterocyclic carbene precursor, zwitterionic 3,3′-[1,1′-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(1H-imidazol-3-ium-3,1-diyl)]bis(propane-1-sulfonate) crystallized as its dihydrate and was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing point group symmetry for the zwitterionic molecule. The crystal structure of the title compound, C16H26N4O6S2·2H2O, a water-soluble di-N-heterocyclic carbene ligand precursor was determined using a single crystal grown by the slow cooling of a hot N,N-dimethylformamide solution of the compound. The dihydrate crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with half of the zwitterionic molecule and one water molecule of crystallization in the asymmetric unit. The remaining part of the molecule is completed by inversion symmetry. In the molecule, the imidazole ring planes are parallel with a plane-to-plane distance of 2.741 (2) Å. The supramolecular network is consolidated by hydrogen bonds of medium strength between the zwitterionic molecules and the water molecules of crystallization, as well as by π–π stacking interactions between the imidazole rings of neighbouring molecules and C—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions.

Abstract
In this study, new types of amphiphilic calix[4]arene derivatives bearing N-alkyl/aryl imidazolium/benzimidazolium fragments were designed and synthesized by two step transformation: Regioselective Blanc chloromethylation of distal-di-O-butyl calix[4]arene and subsequent interaction with N-Substituted imidazole/benzimidazole. Critical aggregation concentration (CAC) values were estimated using pyrene fluorescent probe. Obtained macrocycles were found to form submicron particles with electrokinetic potential +44–+57 mV in aqueous solution. For the first time it was found that amphiphilic calixarene causes the fast transformation of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) multilamellar vesicles into unilamellar ones and leads to the ordering of the lipid in membranes at the molar calixarene/DPPC ratio more than 0.07. In situ complexes of calixarene aggregates with Pd(OAc)2 were found to be active in Suzuki–Miyaura coupling of 1-bromo-4-nitrobenzene with phenylboronic acid in water. It was shown that bulky N-substituents of heterocycle decrease the catalytic activity of the aggregates. These result can be assigned to the inhibition effect of Pd(II) complex in situ formation by bulky substituents located on the aggregate surface. Embedding of the most active palladium N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complex with methylimidazolium headgroups into DPPC vesicles enhances its catalytic activity in Suzuki–Miyaura coupling.

Abstract
AbstractTungsten is an elegant substance, and its compounds have great significance because of their extensive range of applications in diverse fields such as in gas sensors, photocatalysis, lithium ion batteries, H2production, electrochromic devices, dyed sensitized solar cells, microchip technology, and liquid crystal displays. Tungsten compounds exhibit a more efficient catalytic behavior, and tungsten-dependent enzymes generally catalyze the transfer of an oxygen atom to or from a physiological donor/acceptor with the metal center. Furthermore, tungsten has an n-type semiconductor band gap. Tungsten forms complexes by reacting with several elements such as H, C, N, O, and P as well as other numerous inorganic elements. Interestingly, all tungsten reactions occur at ambient temperature, usually with tetrahydrofuran and dichloromethane under vacuum. Tungsten has extraordinarily high-temperature properties, making it very useful for X-ray production and heating elements in furnaces. Tungsten coordinates with diverse nonmetallic elements and ligands and produces interesting compounds. This article describes an overview of the synthesis of various organometallic compounds of tungsten.

Abstract
A new synthetic method for obtaining [RhCl(cod)(NHC)] complexes (1–4) (cod = η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene, NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene: IMes, SIMes, IPr, and SIPr, respectively) is reported together with the catalytic properties of 1–4 in nitrile hydration. In addition to the characterization of 1–4 in solution by 13C NMR spectroscopy, the structures of complexes 3, and 4 have been established also in the solid state with single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The Rh(I)-NHC complexes displayed excellent catalytic activity in hydration of aromatic nitriles (up to TOF = 276 h−1) in water/2-propanol (1/1 v/v) mixtures in air.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of the new Ir(I)-complexes [IrCl(cod)(Bnmim)], [Ir(cod)(emim)(PPh3)]Cl and [Ir(cod)(Bnmim)(mtppms)] are reported. The zwitterionic complexes [Ir(cod)(NHC)(mtppms)] and Na2[Ir(cod)(NHC)(mtppts)] (NHC = emim, bmim or Bnmim; mtppms-Na and mtppts-Na3 = sodium salts of mono- and trisulfonated triphenylphosphine, respectively) were found to be effective precatalysts for transfer hydrogenation of aromatic and aliphatic ketones in basic 2-propanol-water mixtures with initial turnover frequencies up to 510 h−1 at 80 °C, and their catalytic performances were compared to those of [IrCl(cod)(NHC)] complexes (NHC = emim, bmim, Bnmim, IMes) and [Ir(cod)(emim)(PPh3)]Cl. Three of the catalysts were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The reaction rates of the transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone and benzophenone showed strong dependence on the water concentration of the solvent, indicating preferential solvation of the catalytically active metal complexes.
