Abstract
Neonicotinoid insecticides (NNIs) have caused widespread contamination of multiple environmental media and posed a serious threat to ecosystem health by accidently injuring non-target species. This study collected samples of water, soil, and rice plant tissues in a water-soil-plant system of paddy fields after spaying imidacloprid (IMI), thiamethoxam (THM), and clothianidin (CLO) to analyze their distribution characteristics and migration procedures and to assess related dietary risks of rice consumption. In the paddy water, the concentrations of NNIs showed a dynamic change of increasing and then decreasing during about a month period, and the initial deposition of NNIs showed a trend of CLO (3.08 μg/L) > THM (2.74 μg/L) > IMI (0.97 μg/L). In paddy soil, the concentrations of the three NNIs ranged from 0.57 to 68.3 ng/g, with the highest residual concentration at 2 h after application, and the concentration trend was opposite to that in paddy water. The initial deposition amounts of IMI, THM, and CLO in the root system were 5.19, 3.02, and 5.24 μg/g, respectively, showing a gradual decrease over time. In the plant, the initial deposition amounts were 19.3, 9.36, and 52.6 μg/g for IMI, THM, and CLO, respectively, exhibiting concentration trends similar to those in the roots. Except for IMI in soil, the dissipation of the NNIs conformed to the first-order kinetic equation in paddy water, soil, and plant. The results of bioconcentration factors (BCFs) and translocation factor (TF) indicated that NNIs can be bi-directionally transported in plants through leaf absorption and root uptake. The risk of NNIs intake through rice consumption was low for all age groups, with a slightly higher risk of exposure in males than in females.

Abstract
Pomegranate are often treated with preservatives during storage. This study investigated the effects of storage and food processing on the residual behavior of the five commonly used preservatives (prochloraz, thiophanate-methyl, pyrimethanil, imazalil, and difenoconazole) and their metabolites in pomegranate and its products. The LOQs for all target compounds were 0.001 mg kg-1. The residue levels of five preservatives in the calyx was highest, followed by the peel, stalk, septum, umbilicus, and seed. For the migration ability, the five preservatives from pomegranate peel to seed was negatively correlated with their octanol/water partition coefficients. The processing factors of each procedures of juice, wine, vinegar, and pectin processing were <1. Nevertheless, the PF values in drying peel during the overall process ranged from 1.26 to 4.09. Hence, it is worth noting that consumption of pomegranate essential oil and drying peel may pose a potential risk to the health of consumers.

Abstract
The monitoring and precise determination of pesticides and pharmaceutical drugs and their residues have become increasingly important in the field of food safety and water contamination issues. Herein, a fluorescent aluminium MOF-based sensor (1) was developed for the selective recognition of neonicotinoid insecticide dinotefuran and anti-Parkinson's drug entacapone. Guest-free MOF 1' exhibited ultra-fast response (<5 s) and ultra-low detection limits of 2.3 and 7.6 nM for dinotefuran and entacapone, which are lower than the previously reported MOF-based sensors. In the presence of other competitive analytes, great selectivity was achieved towards both analytes. The probe was recyclable up to five cycles. The sensing ability was explored towards entacapone in human serum, urine and dinotefuran in real soil, rice, honey samples, different fruits, vegetables, real water specimens and a wide range of pH media. A low-cost, handy MOF-based polymer thin-film composite (1'@PVDF-PVP) was developed for the on-site detection of dinotefuran and entacapone. Mechanistic studies involving analytical techniques and theoretical calculations suggested that FRET and PET are the probable reasons for entacapone sensing whereas IFE is responsible for dinotefuran detection. The entire work presents a low cost, multi-use photoluminescent sensor of entacapone and dinotefuran to address the environmental pollution.

Abstract
Pyridaben, a broad-spectrum pyridazinone acaricide that is widely used in agricultural production, can induce neurotoxicity and reproductive abnormalities, and is highly toxic to aquatic organisms. In this study, a pyridaben hapten was synthesized and used to prepare monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), among which 6E3G8D7 showed the highest sensitivity in indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, with a 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 3.49 ng mL-1. The mAb, 6E3G8D7, was further applied to a gold nanoparticle-based colorimetric lateral flow immunoassay (CLFIA) for pyridaben detection, according to the signal intensity ratio of the test line to the control line, which showed a visual limit of detection of 5 ng mL-1. The CLFIA also showed high specificity and achieved excellent accuracy in different matrices. In addition, the amounts of pyridaben in blind samples detected by the CLFIA, were consistent with high-performance liquid chromatography. Therefore, the developed CLFIA is considered a promising, reliable, and portable method for pyridaben on-site detection in agro-products and environmental samples.

Abstract
Pyridaben is an acaricide widely used around the world to control phytophagous mites, white flies, aphids, and thrips. It is highly toxic to nontarget organisms such as predatory mites, bees, and fishes. Therefore, the occurrence and removal of pyridaben in food and the environment are worthy of concern. This mini-review focuses on pyridaben residue levels in crops, aquatic systems, and soils, as well as the green synthesis and removal of pyridaben. During the period of 2010–2022, pyridaben was reported in monitoring studies on fruits, vegetables, herbs, bee products, aquatic systems, and soils. Vegetable and agricultural soil samples exhibited the highest detection rates and residue levels. One-pot synthesis offers a green chemistry and sustainable alternative for the synthesis of pyridaben. Among traditional home treatments, peeling is the most effective way to remove pyridaben from crops. Magnetic solid-phase extraction technology has emerged as a powerful tool for the adsorption and separation of pyridaben. Photocatalytic methods using TiO2 as a catalyst were developed as advanced oxidation processes for the degradation of pyridaben in aqueous solutions. Current gaps in pyridaben removal were proposed to provide future development directions for minimizing the exposure risk of pyridaben residues to human and nontarget organisms.

Abstract
The dissipation and residue levels of thiacloprid, spirotetramat and its four metabolites residues in cowpeas were investigated under field conditions. The QuEChERS technique with high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS) was used to detect thiacloprid, spirotetramat and its four metabolites residues content in cowpeas. The recoveries were 81.3–95.1% at a spike level of 0.005–0.5 mg/kg, the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were 2.1–9.5%. The dissipation kinetics data showed that thiacloprid and spirotetramat in cowpeas were degraded with the half-lives of 1.14–1.54 days and 1.25–2.79 days. The terminal residues of thiacloprid and spirotetramat were 0.0255–0.4570 mg kg−1 and 0.0314–0.3070 mg kg−1 after application 2 times with a pre-harvest interval (PHI) of 3 days under the designed dosages. The chronic and acute dietary exposure assessment risk quotient (RQ) values of thiacloprid in cowpeas for different consumers were 2.44–4.41% and 8.72–15.78%, respectively, and those of spirotetramat were 1.03–1.87% and 0.18–0.32%, respectively, all of the RQ values were lower than 100%. The dietary risk of thiacloprid through cowpeas to consumers was higher than spirotetramat. The results from this study are important reference for Chinese governments to develop criteria for the safe and rational use of thiacloprid and spirotetramat, setting maximum residue levels (MRLs), monitoring the quality safety of agricultural products and protecting consumer health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thiamethoxam is widely used to control pests in Chinese kale, popularly consumed leafy vegetables. The potential risk to the environment and human health has aroused much public concern. Therefore, it is important to investigate the degradation behavior, residue distribution and dietary risk assessment of thiamethoxam in Chinese kale. RESULTS A sensitive analytical method for determination of thiamethoxam and its metabolite clothianidin residue in Chinese kale was established and validated through a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) technique with ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). The recoveries were 85.4-101.2% for thiamethoxam and 79.5-108.1% for clothianidin, with the relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 0.9-10.2% and 1.8-6.0%, respectively. For the dissipation kinetics, the data showed that thiamethoxam in Chinese kale was degraded with the half-lives of 4.1 to 4.5 days. In the terminal residue experiments, the residues of thiamethoxam were 0.017-0.357 mg kg-1 after application 2-3 times with a preharvest interval (PHI) of 7 days under the designed dosages. The chronic and acute dietary exposure assessment risk quotient (RQ) values of thiamethoxam in Chinese kale for different Chinese consumers were 0.08-0.19% and 0.05-0.12%, respectively, and those of clothianidin were 0.01-0.04% and 0.02-0.04%, respectively, all of the RQ values were lower than 100%. CONCLUSION Thiamethoxam in Chinese kale was rapidly degraded following first-order kinetics models. The dietary risk of thiamethoxam and clothianidin through Chinese kale was negligible to consumers. The results from this study are important reference for Chinese governments to developing criteria for the safe and rational use of thiamethoxam, setting maximum residue levels (MRLs), monitoring the quality safety of agricultural products and protecting consumer health. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tolfenpyrad and dinotefuran are two representative pesticides used for pest control in tea gardens. Their application may bring about a potential risk to the health of consumers. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the residue behavior, transfer and risk assessment of tolfenpyrad, dinotefuran and metabolites from tea garden to teacup. RESULTS An effective analytical method was established and validated to simultaneously determine tolfenpyrad, dinotefuran and its metabolites (DN and UF) in tea. The average recoveries of tolfenpyrad, dinotefuran, DN and UF were in the range 72.1-106.3%, with relative standard deviations lower than 11.8%. On the basis of the proposed method, the dissipation of tolfenpyrad and dinotefuran in fresh tea leaves followed first-order kinetics models with half-lives of 4.30-7.33 days and 4.65-5.50 days, respectively. With application amounts of 112.5-168.75 g a.i. ha-1 once or twice, the terminal residues of tolfenpyrad and total dinotefuran in green tea were lower than 19.6 and 7.13 mg kg-1 , respectively, and below their corresponding maximum residue limits . The leaching rates of tolfenpyrad and total dinotefuran during the tea brewing were in the ranges 1.4-2.3% and 93.7-98.1%, respectively. CONCLUSION Tolfenpyrad and dinotefuran in tea were easily degraded. The RQc and RQa values for tolfenpyrad were 37.6% and 5.4%, which were much higher than for dinotefuran at 24.7% and 0.84%, respectively. The data indicated that there was no significant health risk in tea for consumers at the recommended dosages. The results provide scientific data regarding the reasonable use of tolfenpyrad and dinotefuran aiming to ensure safe tea consuption. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Flonicamid and dinotefuran are widely applied to control pests and diseases in various economic crops arousing much public concerns about the potential risk to human health. In this study, the multi-determination and residual behavior of flonicamid-dinotefuran mixture on peach trees were investigated. The chronic risk of long-term dietary intake for Chinese consumers was evaluated. RESULTS An optimized QuEChERS method combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) analysis for simultaneous determination of flonicamid, dinotefuran and its metabolites was established to analyze the residual dissipation and terminal residues in peach matrices. The results demonstrated that (i) a satisfactory linearity relationship with the detector response and the correlation coefficient R2 > 0.999, the average recoveries of these four analytes ranged from 94 to 108%, the relative standard deviation was between 1.0% and 8.8%, and the limit of the quantitation was 0.02 mg kg-1 ; (ii) the dissipation behaviors of flonicamid and dinotefuran followed with the first-order dynamic kinetics model, and the half-lives were 6.9-12.4 days and 8.1-15.1 days, respectively; (iii) the recommended preharvest interval (PHI) was 21 days, the risk quotient (RQ) values of flonicamid and dinotefuran were 16.6 and 20.7%, respectively, which were significantly less than 100%. CONCLUSION The established analytical method met the detection requirement in terms of sensitivity, accuracy, and precision. Additionally, the results indicated that the potential dietary intake risk of the flonicamid-dinotefuran mixture on peach trees was negligible. This work can be utilized in the safe and responsible use of flonicamid-dinotefuran mixture and provide guidance for establishing its maximum residue limit (MRL) in China. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
To evaluate the residual levels of bifenthrin and dinotefuran, a modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) and high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for simultaneous detection of bifenthrin and dinotefuran and its major metabolites in wheat was developed and validated. Dietary risk assessments were further performed based on the relevant residual data from 12 wheat fields, toxicology data and dietary patterns. In wheat grain and straw, the recoveries of all analytes ranged from 77 to 102% with the relative standard deviation <9.7% and the limit of quantitation 0.05 mg kg-1 . The highest terminal residue of bifenthrin in wheat grain was 0.069 mg kg-1 and dinotefuran was 0.34 mg kg-1 . Residual concentrations of bifenthrin and dinotefuran decreased to <0.05 and 0.15 mg kg-1 at 21 days (pre-harvest interval), respectively. The chronic risk quotient ranged from 6.4 to 62.7% and the acute risk quotient varied from 0.38 to 17.73%. The chronic and acute dietary risks caused by the terminal residues of the two insecticides were negligible for Chinese populations. The recommended pre-harvest interval was proposed to ensure safe wheat consumption. These data could provide a scientific reference to establish the Chinese maximum residue limit of dinotefuran in wheat.

Abstract
The residual behaviors and dietary risk probability of 12 pesticides in Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo cultivated at two representative locations under green house conditions were investigated using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Field trials showed that the half-lives of 12 pesticides ranged from 0.9 to 14.4 days in fresh D. officinale stems. Based on maximum residue levels (MRLs), the ultimate residues of imidacloprid, dimethomorph, metalaxyl, tebuconazole, and cyazofamid at a pre-harvest interval (PHI) of 28 days were within acceptable limits. For abamectin, indoxacarb, and difenoconazole, 35-day PHIs were needed. The PHIs of trifloxystrobin and fluopyram were 42 days, the time required for their residues to be reduced to an MRL of 4 mg/kg. The chronic and acute risk quotients of target pesticides at PHIs of 28-42 days were below 5.929% and 0.532%, respectively, showing that the evaluated D. officinale exhibited an acceptably low dietary risk to the general population.

Abstract
This study investigates pesticide levels in celery, and compares their degradation, dissipation, distribution, and dietary risk after spraying with selenium (Se) nanoparticles. Abamectin, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, thiamethoxam, and lambda-cyhalothrin were sprayed at 1.6, 6.8, 2.0, 1.0, and 0.7 g a.i. ha−1 followed by a 2 g·ha−1 Se nanoparticle application during the growing period. Thiamethoxam, abamectin, imidacloprid, lambda-cyhalothrin, and acetamiprid in celery degraded following a first order kinetic model after 2 g·ha−1 Se nanoparticles application. With the exception of acetamiprid, the half-lives of thiamethoxam, abamectin, imidacloprid, and lambda-cyhalothrin were reduced from 2.4, 0.5, 1.2, 4.2 days without Se nanoparticles application to 1.4, 0.2, 0.9, 3.7 days with the addition of Se nanoparticles (2 g·ha−1), respectively. The chronic dietary exposure risk probability (RQc) and the acute dietary exposure risk probability (RQa) of celery after Se nanoparticles application were within acceptable limits for consumption except for abamectin.

Abstract
Pyridaben is a widely used acaricide in agriculture and reaches a high concentration (97 μg/L) in paddy water for a short time when pyridaben was applied to rice. However, its toxicity to aquatic organisms is still poorly understood. Therefore, we assessed the pyridaben cardiotoxicity to aquatic organisms using the zebrafish (Danio rerio) model. We found that pyridaben is highly toxic to aquatic organisms, and LC50 of pyridaben for zebrafish at 72 hpf was 100.6 μg/L. Pyridaben caused severe cardiac malformations and functional abnormalities. Morphologic abnormity included severe pericardial edema, cardiomegaly, decreased cardiomyocytes, thinning of the myocardial layer, linear heart, and increased the distance between sinus venous and bulbus arteriosus (SV-BA). Functional failure included arrhythmia, heart failure, and reduced pumping efficiency. The genes involved in heart development, WNT signaling, BMP signaling, ATPase, and cardiac troponin C were abnormally expressed in the pyridaben treatment group. Exposure to pyridaben increased oxidative stress and induced cell apoptosis. The above causes may lead to cardiac toxicity. The results suggest that pyridaben exposure induced elevated oxidative stress through the WNT signaling pathway, which in turn led to apoptosis in the heart and cardiotoxicity. Besides, pyridaben exposure at the critical stage of cardiac looping (24-36 hpf) resulted in the greatest cardiotoxicity. The chorion reduced the entry of pyridaben and protected zebrafish embryos, resulting in cardiotoxicity second only to the stage of cardiac looping. The study should provide valuable information that pyridaben exposure causes cardiotoxicity in zebrafish embryos and have potential health risks for other aquatic organisms and humans.

Abstract
A reliable and simple modified QuEChERS method with UPLC-MS/MS was developed for the simultaneous determination of six pesticides (dimethomorph, imidaclothiz, lufenuron, methoxyfenozide, pyridaben, spinetoram) and their metabolites in pak choi. Method validation indicated good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99), accuracy (recoveries of 75%-112%), sensitivity (limits of quantification, 0.002-0.01 mg kg-1), and precision (relative standard deviations ≤ 21%), and matrix effects were -36-28%. The half-lives of the six pesticides in pak choi were 2.2-12 d under open field and greenhouse conditions. Considering the short growth cycle of pak choi, the terminal residue levels (0.046-7.8 mg kg-1) and the relevant maximum residue limits (MRLs) of some countries, 5 d was recommended as the pre-harvest interval for the six pesticides on pak choi. Dietary risk assessment revealed that the risk quotients were 3.1%-58% for different gender and age groups in China, indicating none unacceptable public health risk for general population. The results showed that all the six pesticides degraded faster and the terminal residues were much lower under open field conditions than those under greenhouse conditions, which was mainly due to the influence of rainfall, sunlight and other environmental factors. This work was thus significant in assessing the dissipation fate and food safety risks of the six pesticides on pak choi and facilitated the establishment of maximum residue limits.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Propiconazole is widely used to control fungal diseases in field crops, including celery and onion. The potential risk to the environment and human health has aroused much public concern. Therefore, it is significant to investigate the degradation behaviour, residue distribution, and dietary risk assessment of propiconazole in celery and onion. RESULTS A sensitive analytical method for determination of propiconazole residue in celery and onion was established and validated through high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The average recovery rate of propiconazole ranged from 85.7% to 101.8%, with a relative standard deviation of 2.1-6.3%. For the dissipation kinetics, the data showed that propiconazole in celery and onion was degraded, with half-lives of 6.1-6.2 days and 8.7-8.8 days respectively. In the terminal residue experiments, the residues of propiconazole were below 4.66 mg kg-1 in celery after application two or three times and were below 0.029 mg kg-1 in onion after application of three or four times with an interval of 14 days under the designed dosages. The chronic and acute dietary exposure assessments for propiconazole were valued by risk quotient, with all values being lower than 100%. CONCLUSION Propiconazole in celery and onion was rapidly degraded following first-order kinetics models. The dietary risk of propiconazole through celery or onion was negligible to consumers. The study not only offers a valuable reference for reasonable usage of propiconazole on celery and onion, but also facilitates the establishment of maximum residue limits in China. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
The excessive pesticide residues in cereals, fruit and vegetables is a big threat to human health, and it is necessary to develop a portable, low-cost and high-precision pesticide residue detection scheme to replace the large-scale laboratory testing equipment for rapid detection of pesticide residues. In this study, a colorimetric device for rapid detection of organophosphorus pesticide residues with high precision based on a microfluidic mixer chip was proposed. The microchannel structure with high mixing efficiency was determined by fluid dynamics simulation, while the corresponding microfluidic mixer chip was designed. The microfluidic mixer chip was prepared by a self-developed liquid crystal display (LCD) mask photo-curing machine. The influence of printing parameters on the accuracy of the prepared chip was investigated. The light source with the optimal wavelength of the device was determined by absorption spectrum measurement, and the relationship between the liquid reservoir depth and detection limit was studied by experiments. The correspondence between pesticide concentration and induced voltage was derived. The minimum detection concentration of the device could reach 0.045 mg·L-1 and the average detection time was reduced to 60 s. The results provide a theoretical and experimental basis for portable and high-precision detection of pesticide residues.

Abstract
With widespread applications of the latest neonicotinoid in agriculture, dinotefuran has gradually become a hazardous contaminant for plants through the generation of excessive reactive oxygen species. However, the potential toxic mechanisms of oxidative damages to plants induced by dinotefuran are still unknown. As a core component of the glutathione antioxidant enzyme system, glutathione peroxidases have been used as biomarkers to reflect excessive oxidative stress. In this study, the hazardous effects of dinotefuran on AtGPX6 were investigated at the molecular level. The intrinsic fluorescence intensity of AtGPX6 was quenched using the static quenching mechanism upon binding with dinotefuran. Moreover, a single binding site was predicted for AtGPX6 toward dinotefuran, and the complex formation was presumed to be driven by hydrogen bonds or van der Waals forces, which conformed with the molecular docking results. In addition, AtGPX6 exhibited moderate binding affinity with dinotefuran based on the bio-layer interferometry assay. In addition, the loosening and unfolding of the protein skeleton of AtGPX6 with the addition of dinotefuran were explored along with the increase of hydrophobicity around tryptophan residues. Lastly, the toxic effects of dinotefuran on the root growth of Arabidopsis seedlings were also examined. The exploration of the binding mechanism of dinotefuran with AtGPX6 at the molecular level would provide the toxicity assessment of dinotefuran on plants.

Abstract
A method for simultaneous quantitation of rimsulfuron, quizalofop-P-ethyl and quizalofop-P in potato plant, soil and potato tuber samples was established. The mean recoveries of rimsulfuron, quizalofop-P-ethyl and quizalofop-P in different matrices spiked with them were 81.4%-101.1%, 76.1%-99.0% and 77.4%-106.4% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 2.7%-13.3%, 0.9%-5.5%, 1.7%-11.3%, respectively. The open-field trials in China were conducted in potato cultivation system of Changchun and Jinan. The results indicated that the half-lives of rimsulfuron and quizalofop-P-ethyl were 0.04-13.1 days. The residues of quizalofop-P during the harvest time in Jinan soil were < 0.01-0.044 mg kg-1, while there was no residue of target herbicides detected in all other samples. The risk assessment results demonstrated that the risk quotients (RQs) of rimsulfuron and quizalofop-P-ethyl were 7.857 × 10-5 and 8.730 × 10-3, respectively, which exhibited an acceptable dietary risk to Chinese consumers.

Yu B, Chen Z, Lu X, Huang Y, Zhou Y, Zhang Q, Wang D, Li J. Effects on soil microbial community after exposure to neonicotinoid insecticides thiamethoxam and dinotefuran. THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2020; 725:138328. [PMID: 32294586 DOI: 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2020.138328] [Citation(s) in RCA: 34] [Impact Index Per Article: 8.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/28/2020] [Revised: 03/22/2020] [Accepted: 03/28/2020] [Indexed: 06/11/2023]
Abstract
The wide application of neonicotinoid insecticides in soil may affect soil microbial community, yet the information is limited. This study first reports the effects of thiamethoxam and dinotefuranon on soil microbial community. Soil from a forest land was collected and spiked with different nominal levels (0.02 mg kg-1, 0.2 mg kg-1 and 2.0 mg kg-1) of thiamethoxam and dinotefuran, respectively, and cultivated for 112 days. During the study, concentrations of the two neonicotinoids and their potential degradation products were monitored by LC-MS/MS. At day 112, the soils were analyzed for genetic profile by high-throughput sequencing and carbon metabolic profile by Biolog-ECO plate. The results showed that thiamethoxam and dinotefuran were both attenuated during the study with rate constants being 0.008-0.017 d-1 and 0.024-0.032 d-1, respectively, and biodegradation played an important role. As compared to the blank control, the exposure to the studied two neonicotinoids changed the microbial community, and the changes were influenced by both the type of neonicotinoid and the level of exposure. As compared to the blank control, the relative abundances of phyla Gemmatimonadetes and OD1 decreased under most exposed conditions, while the relative abundances of Chloroflexi and Nitrospirae increased under most exposed conditions. The community transition changed the functional potential, particularly carbon metabolism (mostly decreased) and nitrogen metabolism (mostly increased). As compared to the blank control, the utilization of total 31 carbon sources (including six categories) was increased under low exposure to thiamethoxam, but was decreased under all other exposed conditions. Low exposure to dinotefuran stimulated the utilization of three categories of carbon sources (amines, carbohydrates and phenolic compounds). Low exposure to both neonicotinoids increased the community diversity, while middle and high exposure to both neonicotinoids decreased the community diversity. These findings provide new insights into the effects of neonicotinoids on microbial community in soil.

Wang N, Zhao S, Long X, Gong J, Sui C, Zhang Y, Chen L, Hu D. Determination, risk assessment and processing factors for pyridaben in field-incurred kiwifruit samples. JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND HEALTH. PART. B, PESTICIDES, FOOD CONTAMINANTS, AND AGRICULTURAL WASTES 2020; 55:613-619. [PMID: 32308122 DOI: 10.1080/03601234.2020.1753458] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/19/2019] [Revised: 04/02/2020] [Accepted: 04/02/2020] [Indexed: 06/11/2023]
Abstract
Field trials in six agricultural sites were carried out to investigate the dissipation and residue levels of pyridaben in kiwifruit. Each sample was extracted with acetonitrile, purified with octadecylsilane and analyzed with high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The method had good linearity (R2 > 0.99), accuracy (recoveries of 78.53-98.00%) and precision (relative standard deviation of 0.86-6.11%). The dissipation of pyrdaben in kiwifruit followed first-order kinetics with a half-life < 8 d, and terminal residues in kiwifruit were lower than 0.5 mg/kg after 14 d of application. Risk assessment indicated that both chronic and acute dietary intake risk values were far below 100%, suggesting that pyridaben residues in kiwifruit were relatively safe to humans. Moreover, the effects of traditional household processes on kiwifruit were investigated. The processing factors (PFs) indicated that peeling and peeling-juicing processes could remove pyridaben residues from kiwifruit, and the former was more effective than the latter (PF at 0.15 vs. 0.51). Nevertheless, drying kiwifruit with an oven increased the amount of pyridaben (PF at 1.05). These results could provide guidance for the safe and reasonable use of pyridaben in agriculture and may be helpful for the Chinese government to determine maximum residue limit of pyridaben in kiwifruit.

Su Y, Wang W, Hu J, Liu X. Dissipation behavior, residues distribution and dietary risk assessment of tembotrione and its metabolite in maize via QuEChERS using HPLC-MS/MS technique. ECOTOXICOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY 2020; 191:110187. [PMID: 31951902 DOI: 10.1016/j.ecoenv.2020.110187] [Citation(s) in RCA: 11] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.8] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/22/2019] [Revised: 01/07/2020] [Accepted: 01/08/2020] [Indexed: 06/10/2023]
Abstract
The dissipation and residues of tembotrione in corn field application were investigated using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method. The average recoveries of tembotrione in maize, corncob, and straw were in the ranges of 98-107% with relative standard deviations (RSDs ≤9.3%), respectively. The recoveries of M5 was in the ranges of 90-108% in all three matrices of maize, with RSDs were 3.3-12.8%. The LODs for tembotrione and M5 in maize were 0.85 μg/L and 1.0 μg/L, 0.84 μg/L and 0.43 μg/L in corncob, 0.94 μg/L and 1.5 μg/L in straw, respectively. The LOQs of the method in maize grain, corncob and straw were 0.01, 0.01 and 0.05 mg/kg for both analytes, respectively. The dissipation of tembotrione in straw was in compliance with the first-order dynamic equation, with half-lives of 1.18-1.23 days at Beijing and Heilongjiang. Total residue of tembotrione in maize grain and corncob matrix were both below 0.02 mg/kg, lower than the max residue limit (MRL) recommended by european food safety authority (EFSA). Risk quotients (RQs) of this pesticide was assessed via comparing national estimated daily intake with acceptable daily intake. The dietary intake risk of tembotrione residue in maize was very low for all groups of Chinese residents. These data could provide scientific data and strategies and facilitate Chinese government to establish the MRLs of tembotrione.
