Abstract
The widespread use of endocrine disruptors (EDPs) has certain potential hazards to organisms and environments, and it is particularly important to develop effective pretreatment methods before detection of EDPs in complex samples. In this work, a novel magnetic nanocomposite decorated with layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and carbon dots (CDs) was designed and prepared for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of EDPs (bisphenol S, bisphenol F, bisphenol A, bisphenol AF, diethylstilbestrol and 4-cumylphenol) combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet (HPLC-UV) detection. The prepared composites were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the adsorption mechanism towards these EDPs might be mainly based on hydrogen bonds and π-π conjugation. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed method showed limits of detection within 0.05-0.50 μg L-1 and limits of quantitation within 0.2-2.0 μg L-1, and good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.9975) was presented in the range of 0.2-200 μg L-1. Finally, the Fe3O4@C@NiCo-LDH@CDs composite-based MSPE-HPLC-UV method was applied for enrichment and determination of EDPs in water, milk, and tea beverage samples with recoveries in the range of 81.2-119.8% and relative standard deviations below 9.7%.

Cyano-functionalized porous hyper-crosslinked cationic polymers for efficient preconcentration and detection of phenolic endocrine disruptors in fresh water and fish. Talanta 2024; 281:126822. Abstract
Sensitively analyzing phenolic endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in environmental substrates and aquatic organisms provides a significant challenge. Here, we developed a novel porous hyper-crosslinked ionic polymer bearing cyano groups (CN-HIP) as adsorbent for the highly efficient solid phase extraction (SPE) of phenolic EDCs in water and fish. The CN-HIP gave an excellent adsorption capability for targeted EDCs over a wide pH range, and the adsorption capacity was superior to that of several common commercial SPE adsorbents. The coexistence of electrostatic forces, hydrogen bond, and π-π interactions was confirmed as the main adsorption mechanism. A sensitive quantitative method was established by coupling CN-HIP based SPE method with high-performance liquid chromatography for the simultaneously determining trace bisphenol A, bisphenol F, bisphenol B and 4-tert-butylphenol in fresh water and fish. The method afforded lower detection limits (S/N = 3) (at 0.03-0.10 ng mL-1 for water and 0.8-4.0 ng g-1 for fish), high accuracy (the recovery of spiked sample at 88.0%-112 %) and high precision (the relative standard deviation < 8.5 %). This work provides a feasible method for detecting phenolic EDCs, and also opens a new perspective in developing functionalized cationic adsorbent.

Abstract
The CuO/reduced graphene oxide foam (CuO/RGF) with excellent recyclability was prepared via hydrothermal method followed by freeze drying treatment for bisphenol A (BPA) removal via activating peroxydisulfate (PDS). SEM, XRD, XPS, FT-IR, BET, and TG techniques were used to investigate the structure and property of CuO/RGF. The effect of degradation conditions (pH, PDS amount, Cl-, HCO3-, HA and FA) on BPA removal by CuO/RGF were investigated. The result presented that CuO nanosheet was inserted into the RGF carrier with three-dimensional structure. The degradation rate constant of BPA over CuO/RGF (0.00917 min-1) was 1.24 and 6.46 times higher than those of BPA over CuO (0.00714 min-1) and RGF (0.00142 min-1). More importantly, the pore structure of RGF can successfully limit the release of Cu (II) compared to pure CuO. According to quenching test as well as electron spin resonance (EPR) spectra, BPA degradation was triggered by 1O2, •OH and SO4•-, which was the combination of nonradical (1O2) and radical activation of PDS (•OH and SO4•-). The possible degradation route of BPA was proposed based on intermediates obtained by combining solid phase extraction pretreatment technique with high performance liquid-mass spectrometry. After assessing the viability of MCF-7 cells, we can see that the estrogenic activities of treated solution reduced without producing stronger endocrine disruptors.

Abstract
Fenton-like oxidation processes are widely used to degrade recalcitrant organic pollutants, but are limited by narrow application pH and low reaction efficiency. This study investigated the synchronous activation of H2O2 and persulfate (PDS) by sulfidated zero valent iron (S-nZVI) in ambient conditions for Fenton-like oxidation of bisphenol S (BPS), an estrogenic endocrine-disrupting chemical. The activation of S-nZVI induced H2O2 or PDS could be greatly enhanced with the assistance of PDS and H2O2, respectively, even across a wide range of pH value (3-11). The first-order rate constant of S-nZVI/H2O2/PDS, S-nZVI/PDS and S-nZVI/H2O2 systems was found to be 0.2766 min-1, 0.0436 min-1, and 0.0113 min-1, respectively. A significant synergy between H2O2 and PDS was achieved when the PDS-H2O2 molar ratio was above 1:1, and where sulfidation promoted iron corrosion and decreased solution pH were observed in the S-nZVI/H2O2/PDS system. Radical scavenging experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) investigations suggest that both SO4•- and •OH were generated and that •OH played a crucial role in BPS removal. Furthermore, four BPS degradation intermediates were detected and three degradation pathways were proposed in line with the HPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis. This study demonstrated that compared to the traditional Fenton-like system, the S-nZVI/H2O2/PDS system could be a more efficient, advanced oxidation technology capable of being used across a broad pH range for emerging pollutants' degradation.

Abstract
In this study, three-dimensional flower-like tin disulfide materials were prepared, and a highly efficient dispersive solid-phase extraction method was developed using the obtained three-dimensional tin disulfide adsorbents for the preconcentration and determination of six endocrine-disrupting phenols in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection. Several important experimental parameters influencing extraction efficiency were investigated, including the amount of adsorbent, ultrasound time, sample solution pH, sample volume, type of elution solvent, desorption time, and the number of desorption times. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the developed method showed good linearity with the determination coefficients of 0.993-0.998 in the linear range of 0.5-400 ng/ml and low limits of detection in the range of 0.15-1.0 ng/ml, as well as satisfactory intra-day and inter-day precisions with relative standard deviations of 0.1-9.8%. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied for the enrichment and determination of trace endocrine-disrupting phenols in milk, tea beverage, and plastic bottled water samples, and acceptable recoveries were obtained from 70.1% to 119.1% under four different spiked concentration levels. The results showed that the three-dimensional tin disulfide materials had great potential for the extraction of endocrine-disrupting phenols contaminants in environmental and food samples.

Abstract
As a type of environmental endocrine disrupting chemicals, bisphenols (BPs) have a certain embryonic toxicity and teratogenicity, which can significantly increase the risks of breast cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia and other cancers. In this work, stable multivariate metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66-NH2/TCPPx) were synthesized via in situ one-pot method and used as miniaturized dispersive solid-phase extraction (dμSPE) sorbents for extraction of trace BPs from environmental samples. The phase purity, crystal morphology and physical properties of UiO-66-NH2/TCPPx samples were varied by adjusting the mass ratio of TCPP. The extraction performance of UiO-66-NH2/TCPPx samples were investigated and UiO-66-NH2/TCPP1.0 exhibited the highest adsorption efficiency. Besides, UiO-66-NH2/TCPP1.0 possessed excellent recycling stability for the adsorption and desorption of BPs more than 20 cycles. The experimental parameters including amount of adsorbent, adsorption time, sample solution pH, temperature, desorption time and desorption solvents which affecting the efficiency of dμSPE were studied, respectively. Good linearity (R2 > 0.9992) in range of 0.1-200 ng mL-1 was obtained. The detection limits (S/N = 3) and quantification limits (S/N = 10) were achieved at 0.03-0.08 ng mL-1 and 0.1-0.5 ng mL-1, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) of intra-day and inter-day ranged from 2.5 to 5.5% and 1.1-6.8%. Enrichment factors were calculated in the range of 303-338. The obtained recoveries of bisphenol F (BPF), bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol B (BPB) and bisphenol AF (BPAF) were 81.26-91.03% (RSDs = 0.96-6.47%), 82.2-97.27% (RSDs = 0.45-6.15%), 87.56-97.26% (RSDs = 1.1-6.22%) and 82.2-100.8% (RSDs = 0.46-4.07%). The UiO-66-NH2/TCPP1.0 can be employed as potential dμSPE sorbents for the enrichment of trace BPs in the environmental samples.

Abstract
Due to the excellent anti-inflammatory effect, ibuprofen and naproxen have been widely used in the people's daily life, which inevitably leads to their pollution in natural water environment. The removal of these chemicals from water has drawn great interests. Here, a new Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe) was synthesized through a one-step solvothermal method and successfully applied for the adsorption removal of ibuprofen and naproxen from water. A series of characterization techniques (FESEM, TEM, N2 adsorption-desorption analysis, XRD and FT-IR) were applied to explore the physicochemical properties of the prepared Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe). The adsorption performances of the Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe) for ibuprofen and naproxen, including the adsorption kinetics and isotherms, and effects of diverse influencing factors (pH, ionic strength, and natural organic matter) were examined through batch experiments. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms of ibuprofen and naproxen on the Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe) fitted well with the pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir model, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities of Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe) were 497.3 and 396.5 mg/g for ibuprofen and naproxen, respectively. The pH of solution in a range of 3-9 exerted no significant effects on the adsorption process. The adsorption was almost unaffected by the ionic strength and humic acid. The π-π interaction and hydrogen bond interaction between the adsorbent and adsorbates were found to be accountable for adsorption. The Cu-doped Mil-101(Fe) was readily regenerated by ethanol and could be repeatedly used.

Abstract
In this work, the magnetic sorbents based on different surfactant-coupled titanium dioxide coated iron-aluminium mixed metal hydroxide were investigated as sorbent for extraction of bisphenol compounds. The structure, morphology, and magnetic property of the synthesized sorbents were investigated. The cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-titanium dioxide coated iron-aluminium mixed metal hydroxide (Fe-Al MMH@TiO2-CTAB) exhibited excellent extraction performance toward bisphenols and was selected as the sorbent for development of magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) method. The entire MSPE process was optimized, and the extract was analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detector. The method provided wide linear calibration ranges for bisphenols between 0.3-6000 μg L-1 with maximum enrichment factors of 280. The limits of detection and limits of quantification were in the ranges of 0.08-0.3 and 0.3-1.0 μg L-1, respectively. The proposed MSPE method was tested for determination of bisphenols in carbonated beverages. The studied carbonated beverages were mostly free of bisphenol contamination; however, BPS, BPA and BPB were detected in samples taken from defective cans. The relative recoveries ranging of 80.2-118.9% were obtained. The as-prepared Fe-Al MMH@TiO2-CTAB sorbent provided high sorption capacities in the range of 2215-2451 mg kg-1 and could be a promising material for bisphenols in beverage samples.

Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) and its halogenated analogs tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and tetrachlorobisphenol A (TCBPA) are common environmental contaminants and a method for their simultaneous determination is urgently needed. A paper-based analytical device (PAD) was prepared using a metal-organic framework of UiO-66-NH2 coated with molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) using TBBPA as a template. The maximum adsorption capacity was 120.94 mg g-1 and the imprinting factor was 4.07. The selective recognition ability of this PAD enabled the effective separation of TBBPA, TCBPA and BPA based on paper chromatography. Subsequently, the PAD cut into segments were used individually to determine the presence of target chemicals using a highly sensitive fluorescent method. Under ultraviolet light irradiation, UiO-66-NH2 acts as a photocatalyst to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) that degrade TBBPA, TCBPA or BPA in the imprinted cavities and the fluorescent signal of 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (H2DCFDA) added as a ROS probe enabled the indirect determination of target chemicals. This method could determine BPA and its halogenated analogs in dust samples simultaneously with detection limits ranging from 0.14 to 0.30 ng g-1. The intraday relative standard deviation (RSD) was ≤6.8% and interday RSD was ≤8.1%. The recoveries ranged from 91.0 to 105.6% with RSD values that were ≤7.5%. The results stemmed from this method were consistent with those obtained from LC-MS/MS. It is an environmentally-friendly approach due to the degradation of target pollutants and possesses many advantages such as high selectivity, low cost and easy-to-fabrication.

Abstract
A novel unique adsorbent (Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH) has been successfully synthesized and applied for removal of bisphenols (BPs) from aqueous solution. The prepared adsorbent was characterized to appear in a hierarchical rattle-like structure, and possesses high specific surface area, abundant pore system, and magnetic properties. Adsorption kinetics fitted well with the pseudo-second-order model. Adsorption isotherms abide by the Langmuir model, and the maximum adsorption capacity for bisphenol A (BPA), F (BPF), AF (BPAF) and S (BPS) on Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH at pH of 7.0 were 238.96, 177.09, 320.56 and 345.84 mg/g, respectively. Moreover, it was found that the high pH and NaCl concentration were not conducive to the removal of BPs. The humic acid and real waters had no significant effects on the removal of BPs on Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH. Furthermore, the FT-IR spectra indicated that the removal of four BPs were primarily Hydrogen bond interaction between BPs and Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH. The Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH was regenerated effectively by methanol and can be repeatedly used. This novel Fe3O4@Co/Ni-LDH can be applied as a promising adsorbent for removal of BPs from aqueous matrices.

Abstract
Glucose-derived carbon-decorated magnetic microspheres were synthesized by an easy hydrothermal carbonization method and used as a high-efficiency adsorbent to extract bisphenols in water and tea drinks. The as-prepared carbon-decorated magnetic microspheres had a well-defined core-shell structure with a shell thickness of about 5 nm. The microspheres possessed high saturation magnetization at 60.8 emu/g and excellent chemical stability in aqueous solution. The experimental parameters affecting the extraction efficiency, including extraction time, pH, adsorbent dosage, desorption solvents, desorption time, and solution volume were evaluated. Electrostatic and π-π interactions were the major driving forces during extraction. Overall, a new magnetic solid-phase extraction method of determining bisphenols was developed on the basis of as-prepared magnetic microspheres. The method had a wide linear range, low limits of detection (0.03-0.10 µg/L), and high recoveries (85.4-104.6%).

Abstract
A hollow porous NiMn2O4 nanosphere-decorated cellulose-based carbon fiber (CCF, using recyclable cotton wool as the carbon fiber source) hybrid was fabricated via a relatively green and eco-friendly hydrothermal synthetic route, followed by calcination treatment. The in situ growth of hollow porous NiMn2O4 on the CCFs led to it being decorated over the CCF surface uniformly. The NiMn2O4/CCFs hybrid displayed excellent extraction capabilities and magnetic reusability. Benefiting from its high porosity, large specific surface area, and superior chemical affinities to bisphenol analogs (BPs), and the synergistic effect between NiMn2O4 and CCFs, NiMn2O4/CCFs as an adsorbent was applied to the extraction of low concentrations of BP compounds, displaying excellent extraction capabilities. A magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction (MDSPE) method combined with HPLC was developed for detecting six BPs in real environmental samples. Under optimal conditions, the detection limits and recoveries were 0.56-0.83 ng mL-1 and 84.3-103.5% (RSD ≤ 4.5%). It was confirmed that NiMn2O4/CCFs was a type of rapid and high efficiency MDSPE material for the analysis of multiple BP compounds in environmental samples.

Abstract
The present study focused on the synthesis and application of novel isocyanate-modified carrageenan polymers as sorbent materials for pre-concentration and removal of diclofenac (DCF) and carbamazepine (CBZ) in different aqueous matrices (surface waters and wastewaters). The polymer materials were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The effects on the adsorption behavior were studied, and the equilibrium data were fitted by the Langmuir and Freundlich models. The maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax) was determined by Langmuir–Freundlich model and was ranged for iota-carrageenan (iCAR) from 7.44 to 8.51 mg/g for CBZ and 23.41 to 35.78 mg/g for DCF and for kappa-carrageenan (kCAR) from 7.07 to 13.78 mg/g for CBZ and 22.66 to 49.29 mg/g for DCF. In the next step, dispersive solid phase extraction (D-SPE) methodology followed by liquid desorption and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS) has been developed and validated. The factors, which affect the performance of D-SPE, were investigated. Then, the optimization of extraction time, sorbent mass and eluent’s volume was carried out using a central composite design (CCD) and response surface methodology (RSM). Under the optimized conditions, good linear relationships have been achieved with the correlation coefficient (R2) varying from 0.9901 to 0.995. The limits of detections (LODs) and limits of quantifications (LOQs) ranged 0.042–0.090 μg/L and 0.137–0.298 μg/L, respectively. The results of the recoveries were 70–108% for both analytes, while the precisions were 2.8–17.5% were obtained, which indicated that the method was suitable for the analysis of both compounds in aqueous matrices.
