Abstract
The vast spectrum of aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin neoplasms (B-NHL) encompasses several infrequent entities occurring in association with viral infections, posing diagnostic challenges for practitioners. In the emerging era of precision oncology, the molecular characterization of malignancies has acquired paramount significance. The pathophysiological comprehension of specific entities and the identification of targeted therapeutic options have seen rapid development. However, owing to their rarity, not all entities have undergone exhaustive molecular characterization. Considerable heterogeneity exists in the extant body of work, both in terms of employed methodologies and the scale of cases studied. Presently, therapeutic strategies are predominantly derived from observations in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most prevalent subset of aggressive B-NHL. Ongoing investigations into the molecular profiles of these uncommon virus-associated entities are progressively facilitating a clearer distinction from DLBCL, ultimately paving the way towards individualized therapeutic approaches. This review consolidates the current molecular insights into aggressive and virus-associated B-NHL, taking into consideration the recently updated 5th edition of the WHO classification of hematolymphoid tumors (WHO-5HAEM) and the International Consensus Classification (ICC). Additionally, potential therapeutically targetable susceptibilities are highlighted, offering a comprehensive overview of the present scientific landscape in the field.

Abstract
Bartonelloses are diseases caused by Bartonella sp., transmitted to humans by blood sucking arthropod vectors. Clinical presentations include bacillary angiomatosis, cat scratch disease and atypical forms. We performed a review of cases of bartonelloses and hematological malignancies published in HIV-negative patients. Terms used were Bartonella or Bacillary Angiomatosis and Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, or Cancer. Fifteen cases met our criteria. Clinical presentations included bacillary angiomatosis, chronic fever, chronic lymphadenopathy, osteomyelitis, neuroretinitis, chronic anemia and hepatosplenic peliosis. Fourteen patients were asymptomatic after antibiotic therapy, and one died before antibiotic treatment. Clinicians should be suspicious of Bartonella sp. infections in immunocompromised patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the link between COVID-19 incidence, socio-economic covariates, and NHL incidence. DESIGN Ecological study design. SETTING Sardinia, Italy. PARTICIPANTS We used official reports on the total cases of COVID-19 in 2020, published data on NHL incidence, and socio-economic indicators by administrative unit, covering the whole regional population. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES We used multivariable regression analysis to explore the association between the natural logarithm (ln) of the 2020 cumulative incidence of COVID-19 and the ln-transformed NHL incidence in 1974-2003, weighing by population size and adjusting by socioeconomic deprivation and other covariates. RESULTS The cumulative incidence of COVID-19 increased in relation to past incidence of NHL (p < 0.001), socioeconomic deprivation (p = 0.006), and proportion of elderly residents (p < 0.001) and decreased with urban residency (p = 0.001). Several sensitivity analyses confirmed the finding of an association between COVID-19 and NHL. CONCLUSION This ecological study found an ecological association between NHL and COVID-19. If further investigation would confirm our findings, shared susceptibility factors should be investigated among the plausible underlying mechanisms.

Abstract
Background Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is closely related to the carcinogenesis of gastric cancer (GC) and gastric non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). However, the systemic trend analysis in H. pylori-related malignancy is limited. We aimed to determine the national incidence trend in non-cardia GC, cardia GC, and gastric NHL in the US during 2000-2019. Method In this population-based study, we included 186,769 patients with a newly diagnosed H. pylori-related malignancy, including non-cardia GC, cardia GC, and gastric NHL from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Registry from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2019. We determined the age-adjusted incidence of three H. pylori-related malignancies respectively. Average annual percentage change (AAPC) in 2000-2019 was calculated to describe the incidence trends. Analyses were stratified by sex, age, race and ethnicity, geographic location and SEER registries. We also determined the 5-year incidence (during 2015-2019) by SEER registries to examine the geographic variance. Results The incidence in non-cardia GC and gastric NHL significantly decreased during 2000-2019, while the rate plateaued for cardia GC (AAPCs, -1.0% [95% CI, -1.1%-0.9%], -2.6% [95% CI, -2.9%-2.3%], and -0.2% [95% CI, -0.7%-0.3%], respectively). For non-cardia GC, the incidence significantly increased among individuals aged 20-64 years (AAPC, 0.8% [95% CI, 0.6-1.0%]). A relative slower decline in incidence was also observed for women (AAPC, -0.4% [95% CI, -0.6%-0.2%], P for interaction < 0.05). The incidence of cardia GC reduced dramatically among Hispanics (AAPC, -0.8% [95% CI, -1.4%-0.3%]), however it increased significantly among nonmetropolitan residents (AAPC, 0.8% [95% CI, 0.4-1.3%]). For gastric NHL, the decreasing incidence were significantly slower for those aged 20-64 years (AAPC, -1.5% [95% CI, -1.9-1.1%]) and Black individuals (AAPC, -1.3% [95% CI, -1.9-1.1%]). Additionally, the highest incidence was observed among Asian and the Black for non-cardia GC, while Whites had the highest incidence of cardia GC and Hispanics had the highest incidence of gastric NHL (incidence rate, 8.0, 8.0, 3.1, and 1.2, respectively) in 2019. Geographic variance in incidence rates and trends were observed for all three H. pylori-related malignancies. The geographic disparities were more pronounced for non-cardia GC, with the most rapid decline occurring in Hawaii (AAPC, -4.5% [95% CI, -5.5-3.6%]) and a constant trend in New York (AAPC 0.0% [95% CI, -0.4-0.4%]), the highest incidence in Alaska Natives, and the lowest incidence among Iowans (14.3 and 2.3, respectively). Conclusion The incidence of H. pylori-related cancer declined dramatically in the US between 2000 and 2019, with the exception of cardia GC. For young people, a rising trend in non-cardia GC was noted. Existence of racial/ethnic difference and geographic diversity persists. More cost-effective strategies of detection and management for H. pylori are still in demand.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The presence of a lymphoma associated with a solid synchronous neoplasm or collision neoplasm has been rarely in the literature, and a detailed characterization of these cases is lacking to date. OBJECTIVE To describe the main clinicopathological features of synchronous/collision tumors. METHODS A systematic search in PubMed, Scielo, and Virtual Health Library literature databases for cases or case series of synchronous or collision lymphoma and other solid neoplasms reported up to March 2021 was performed. Three reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the quality of the included studies. The systematic review was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Meta-Analyses guidelines. RESULTS Mean age of patients was 62.9 years (52.9% men). A total of 308 cases were included (62% synchronous and 38% collision). The most frequent location of both synchronous and collision tumors was the gastrointestinal tract with the most common solid neoplasm being adenocarcinoma, and the most frequent lymphoma diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (21.7%) and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (20.4%). Of the total number of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas and gastric adenocarcinomas, the presence of Helicobacter pylori infection was documented in 47.3% of them. Only 2% of all cases had a previous history of lymphoma. Thus, in most cases (98%), lymphoma was discovery incidentally. In addition, nodal lymphoma was associated with metastasis in 29 (9.4%) cases as collision tumor, most commonly (90%) in locoregional lymph nodes of the solid neoplasm. CONCLUSIONS The frequent association of some type of B-cell lymphoma and adenocarcinoma in synchronous/collision tumors of the gastrointestinal tract points to common pathogenic mechanisms in both neoplasia, particularly related to chronic inflammation in this location. In most cases, lymphoma identified in locoregional lymph nodes or distant of a carcinoma seems to represent an incidental finding during the carcinoma diagnostic/therapeutic approach. A synergy between carcinoma and lymphoma (involving inflammation and immunosuppression mechanisms) may favor tumor progression and dissemination. A better understating of the interactions lymphoma/carcinoma in the setting of synchronous/collision tumors may help to improve patient management and prognosis.

Abstract
Background: Trp53-/- mice are prone to develop lymphomas at old ages. Factors promoting this tumorigenesis are unknown. Here, we showed human ovulatory follicular fluid (FF) largely promotes lymphomagenesis in Trp53-/- mice at earlier ages. Meanwhile, we clarified that IGF2 and HGF are important cell transforming factors within FF. Methods: To induce tumor formation, 5% FFs, 100 ng/ml IGF2, 20 ng/ml HGF, or both IGF2 and HGF in a volume of 200 µl PBS, was injected into 8-wk-old female Trp53 -/- mice at the mammary fat pad. The injection was repeated weekly for up to 7 weeks or extending to 13 weeks to observe the accumulative incidence of lymphomagenesis. Immunohistochemistry staining and gene rearrangement analysis were used to identify the tumor type. Results: By injecting FF into the mammary fat pad weekly, lymphomas developed in 8/16 (50%) of mice by seven weeks. We identified IGF2 and HGF in FF is largely responsible for this activity. The same weekly injection of IGF2, HGF, and their combination induced lymphomas in 4/11 (36%), 3/8 (38%), and 6/9 (67%) mice, respectively. Interestingly, tumorigenesis was induced only when those were injected into the adipose tissues in the mammary gland, but not when injected into non-adipose sites. We also found this tumor-promoting activity is estradiol (E2)-dependent and relies on estrogen receptor (ER) α expression in the adipose stroma. No tumor or only tiny tumor was yielded when the ovaries were resected or when ER is antagonized. Finally, an extension of the weekly FF-injection to 13 weeks did not further increase the lymphomagenesis rate, suggesting an effect on pre-initiated cancer cells. Conclusions: Taken together, the study disclosed a robust tumor-promoting effect of IGF2 and HGF in the p53 loss-initiated lymphomagenesis depending on an adipose microenvironment in the presence of E2. In light of the clarity of this spontaneous tumor promotion model, we provide a new tool for studying p53-mediated lymphomagenesis and suggest that, as a chemoprevention test, this is a practical model to perform.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphomas (NHL) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoid neoplasms with complex etiopathology, rich symptomatology, and a variety of clinical courses, therefore requiring different therapeutic approaches. The hypothesis that an infectious agent may initiate chronic inflammation and facilitate B lymphocyte transformation and lymphogenesis has been raised in recent years. Viruses, like EBV, HTLV-1, HIV, HCV and parasites, like Plasmodium falciparum, have been linked to the development of lymphomas. The association of chronic Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection with mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, Borrelia burgdorferi with cutaneous MALT lymphoma and Chlamydophila psittaci with ocular adnexal MALT lymphoma is well documented. Recent studies have indicated that other infectious agents may also be relevant in B-cell lymphogenesis such as Coxiella burnettii, Campylobacter jejuni, Achromobacter xylosoxidans, and Escherichia coli. The aim of the present review is to provide a summary of the current literature on infectious bacterial agents associated with B-cell NHL and to discuss its role in lymphogenesis, taking into account the interaction between infectious agents, host factors, and the tumor environment.

Abstract
Cancer burden in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) is expressed through a large proportion of the quality of life lost on individual level and also causes losses to the society in terms of a decreased productivity and social structure. A specific cancer spectrum and distinctive needs of AYA patients require targeted studies and cancer control measures. Incidence is intermediate between that for children and for older adults, and two-thirds of the AYA cancers affect women. Cancers of the breast and cervix uteri, representing a large portion of the burden, are amenable to prevention. Survival is relatively high, but it is lower in AYA patients with certain cancers that are common in childhood or older adulthood. Tailored cancer care with centralized multidisciplinary provision improves the outcome, as demonstrated by survival of leukemia patients. Mortality is decreasing in high-income countries for the cancers that contribute to the burden most, but lack of progress is seen for some rarer subtypes, such as brain tumors and sarcomas of the bone and soft tissue. There is unacceptable lack of information on cancer burden in low-income countries in which the outcomes for AYA patients are likely dreadful. Investment is required to establish cancer registration system and appropriate cancer care delivery in these settings.

Abstract
The change in the incidence of lymphomas in function of the presence or absence of sustained virological response after anti-hepatitis C therapy in a cohort of human immunodeficiency (HIV)-hepatitis C (HCV) viruses coinfected patients was analyzed. A prospective cohort of 755 HIV-HCV coinfected patients who received their first anti-HCV therapy, based on interferon + ribavirin schemas, was evaluated. Incidence and histologic types of lymphomas were analyzed in two periods: (1) before administration of anti-HCV therapy and (2) after anti-HCV therapy. The association between lymphoma incidence and demographic, HIV- (minimum CD4+ cell count and CD4+ cell count at diagnosis of lymphoma, antiretroviral therapy, maximal HIV load and HIV load at diagnosis of lymphoma) and HCV-related variables (HCV load, genotype, sustained viral response to anti-HCV therapy) were analyzed. A total of 13 lymphomas [incidence rate (95% confidence interval), 0.72 (0.33-1.11) × 1000 person-years, time from HIV diagnosis to lymphoma diagnosis (median, interquartile range), 15 (11-19) years] were diagnosed. Nine of them were non-Hodgkin and four Hodgkin lymphomas. The median CD4+ T cell count at diagnosis of lymphoma was 457/mm3, with only two cases with values lower than 200/mm3. The incidence rate of non-Hodgkin lymphomas was similar pre- and post-anti HCV therapy [0.33 (0.00-0.65) vs 0.68 (0.08-1.26) × 1000 person-years, respectively, p > 0.05]. Patients with sustained virologic HCV response showed similar incidence rate of lymphomas than that of those without anti-HCV response. In conclusion, anti-HCV therapy does not modify the incidence rate of lymphomas in HIV-HCV coinfected patients.

Abstract
Infection-related cancer comprises one-sixth of the global cancer burden. Oncoviruses can directly or indirectly contribute to tumorigenesis. Ubiquitination is a dynamic and reversible posttranslational modification that participates in almost all cellular processes. Hijacking of the ubiquitin system by viruses continues to emerge as a central theme around the viral life cycle. Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) maintain ubiquitin homeostasis by removing ubiquitin modifications from target proteins, thereby altering protein function, stability, and signaling pathways, as well as acting as key mediators between the virus and its host. In this review, we focus on the multiple functions of DUBs in RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs) and stimulator of interferon genes (STING)-mediated antiviral signaling pathways, oncoviruses regulation of NF-κB activation, oncoviral life cycle, and the potential of DUB inhibitors as therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Population-based data on the development of second malignant neoplasms (SMNs) following the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are uncommon. We evaluated this clinical vignette in HCC patients within the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. METHODS The SEER database (1973-2012) was queried using the SEER*Stat program to determine the clinico-pathological features of HCC patients with more than one year survival who developed SMNs. Standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) were calculated to determine the risk of each type of subsequent cancers. Relative risk was assessed to determine the impact of liver transplantation on the development of second malignant neoplasms. RESULTS On SIR analysis, the following sites have an enhanced risk of developing an SMN following the diagnosis of HCC: tongue, anal canal, liver, lung, kidney, thyroid, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (both nodal and extra-nodal disease) and acute monocytic leukemia (P < 0.05 for all sites). A significantly higher RR was found for the development of lung cancer (RR = 2.096), thyroid cancer (RR = 3.045) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (RR = 3.822) among patients who underwent liver transplantation compared to those who did not (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION There is an excess risk for developing a number of SMNs among patients diagnosed with HCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epidemiological reports have shown that parity is associated with a risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). However, the findings have been inconsistent. METHODS We searched the EMBASE and PubMed databases for eligible studies up to 10 March 2016. Category and generalized least square regression models were used to perform data analyses. RESULTS In total, five cohort and seven case-control studies were identified. Categorical analyses indicated that parity number has little association with NHL and its subtypes. In dose-risk analyses, there were no relationships between parity and NHL risk (pfor association = 0.064; n = 10). The summarized risk ratio (RR) was 0.97 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.95-1.00; I2 = 57.8%; pheterogeneity = 0.014; Power = 0.79) for each additional live birth increase. Similarly, for B-cell NHL, there was a null association between parity and NHL risk (pfor association = 0.121; n = 5). The combined RR was 0.96 (95% CI = 0.90-1.03; I2 = 63.7%; pheterogeneity = 0.026; Power = 0.71) for each additional live birth. For follicular NHL, there was still a non-significant association identified (pfor association = 0.071; n = 4), the pooled RR was 1.00 (95% CI = 0.95-1.07; I2 = 17.3%; pheterogeneity = 0.305; Power = 0.26) per additional live birth. CONCLUSIONS Our data identified little evidence suggesting that high parity is a protective factor against the development of NHL, including its B-cell and follicular subtypes.

Abstract
The family Marseilleviridae is a new clade of giant viruses whose original member, marseillevirus, was described in 2009. These viruses were isolated using Acanthamoeba spp primarily from the environment. Subsequently, a close relative of marseillevirus was isolated from the faeces of a healthy young man, and others were detected in blood samples of blood donors and recipients and in a child with lymph node adenitis. In this Grand Round we describe the detection of marseillevirus by PCR, fluorescence in-situ hybridisation, direct immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry in the lymph node of a 30-year-old woman diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, together with IgG antibodies to marseillevirus. A link with viruses and bacteria has been reported for many lymphomas. We review the literature describing these associations, the criteria used to consider a causal association, and the underlying mechanisms of lymphomagenesis. Our observations suggest that consideration should be given to marseillevirus infections as an additional viral cause or consequence of Hodgkin's lymphoma, and that this hypothesis should be tested further.
