Abstract
Novel Schiff base was synthesized from the condensation reaction of metformin with [4‐(Diethylamino) benzaldehyde (NBM). Different metal complexes were prepared using Pd (II), Pt (II), Cu (II), and V (IV) metal ions. All complexes showed the nonelectrolytic behavior. So, the expected molecular formulas for complexes were [Pd (NBM)Cl2], [Pt (NBM)Cl2], [Cu (NBM)2Cl2] and [VO (NBM)2]. The cytotoxicity of (NBM) Schiff base and its metal complexes on human cancer cell line, MCF‐7, was investigated. V (IV) and Cu (II) complexes showed potential blood glucose lowering effect higher than the commercial metformin drug. VO (II) complex has superior antioxidant activity more than the other synthesized compounds and the standard ascorbic acid. Molecular docking investigation proved the presence of interesting interactions between all synthesized compounds with the active site amino acids of EGFR tyrosine kinase (anticancer activity). The molecular docking of metal complexes has observed effective inhibition for the specific mTOR protein that is expected to aid the growth of the COVID‐19 virus.

Abstract
The review considers the biological role of vanadium, its participation in various processes in humans and other mammals, and the anti-diabetic effect of its compounds. Vanadium salts have persistent hypoglycemic and antihyperlipidemic effects and reduce the probability of secondary complications in animals with experimental diabetes. The review contains a detailed description of all major synthesized vanadium complexes having antidiabetic activity. Currently, vanadium complexes with organic ligands are more effective and safer than the inorganic salts. Despite the proven efficacy of these compounds as the anti-diabetic agents in animal models, only one organic complex of vanadium is currently under the second phase of clinical trials. All of the considered data suggest that vanadium compound are a new promising class of drugs in modern pharmacotherapy of diabetes.

Abstract
Vanadium (V) compounds are reported to have insulin mimicking action, which render them to show excellent osteogenic activity. In the current study we investigated the effect of various vanadium compounds on osteoblast differentiation of mouse mesenchymal stem cells, C3H10t1/2 cells, and analyzed the underlying mechanism of vanadium for this action. Our data showed that treatment of C3H10t1/2 cells with V (IV) oxide complex (at 7-25 μM concentrations) induced osteoblast differentiation maximally as compared to V2O5. On the other hand, ammonium vanadate was found to dampen the osteoblast differentiation process. Based on this data, V (IV) oxide was investigated further to analyze its probable mode of action as an osteoblastic agent. The key factors implicated in osteoblast differentiation i.e., NFκB, ERK ½, AP1 and CRE were examined in response to V (IV) oxide exposure. Exposure to V (IV) oxide caused 2- and 5-folds induction of luciferase activities in cells transfected with SRE-luc and NFκB-luc reporter vectors respectively (p < 0.05). Further, exposure to V (IV) oxide enhanced the phosphorylation of ERK ½, IκB and NFκBp65 proteins. In addition, RT-PCR analysis, alizarin red staining and immunoblot analysis showed that inhibition of osteoblast differentiation in presence of PD98059 and parthenolide (inhibitors of ERK and NFκB pathways respectively) was rescued in presence of V (IV) oxide. These results suggest that V (IV) oxide up regulates osteoblast differentiation through ERK and NFκB pathways and hence could be utilized as an agent for bone formation after further analysis and validation.

Abstract
A new series of diazadioxa oxovanadium(IV) macrocyclic complexes of type [VO(mac)]SO(4) have been synthesized via the condensation reaction of a 3-(phenyl/substituted phenyl)-4-amino-5-hydrazino-1,2,4-triazole (H(2)L) with salicylaldehyde/2-hydroxyacetophenone and 1,4-dibromobutane in the presence of oxovanadium(IV) sulfate in ethanol. All the newly synthesized compounds were characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, conductance measurements, magnetic properties, spectral (UV-Vis, IR, EPR) and XRD studies. The particle size of the complexes has been calculated from XRD spectra using Debye-Scherrer formula and these are found to be in 31-32 nm range. The efficacy of two macrocyclic complexes was also studied in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats over a period of 30 days. The administration of these complexes in diabetic rats reversed the diabetic effect due to their insulin-mimetic effects.

Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus has been associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Attempts have been made for early diagnosis and finding effective drugs to prevent severe consequences and ameliorate the symptoms of this disorder. In this work, the pharmacological properties of VO(dmpp)(2), [bis(1,2-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-4-pyridinonato)oxovanadium(IV)], were in vivo evaluated. For 4 weeks fatty Zucker rats were subjected to a daily dose of VO(dmpp)(2) (44 μmol/kg) and their metabolic profile was followed by assessing different biological parameters at established time points: body weight, subcutaneous fat width and hepatic triglyceride content determined by magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, respectively. A glucose tolerance test was performed at the end of the experiment. After treatment, treated obese rats presented a weight significantly lower than the non-treated obese animals (359.0±11.1 vs. 433.5±6.2g, P<0.05), a thinner subcutaneous fat width, and a statistically significant decrease in hepatic triglyceride content (5.41±0.59 vs. 21.03±1.40%, P<0.0005). Additionally, the glucose intolerant profile of fatty Zucker rats was completely reversed in treated animals (102.3±2.1 vs. 172.4±1.3 mg/100 mL; P<0.0005). These results reinforce the therapeutic action of VO(dmpp)(2) which shows particular effects on lipid metabolism.

Abstract
The central V(V) atom in the title mononuclear oxovanadium complex, [VO(C(23)H(20)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)OH)]·H(2)O, has a distorted octahedral coordination. Two N atoms and two O atoms of the Schiff base define the base of the bipyramid and two O atoms are in the apical positions, one from vanadyl and the second from methanol. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed for the title complex and its ligand to compare their geometry in the solid and gas phases. Additional analyses were made of the changes in the geometry of the ligand during complex formation. The HOMA (harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity) descriptor of π-electron delocalization was calculated to estimate the aromaticity of the benzene rings in the title complex and its ligand.

Abstract
A new insulin-enhancing oxovanadium complex 5-chloro-salicylaldhyde ethylenediamine oxovanadium (V) ([V(2)O(2)(mu-O)(2)L(2)]) has been synthesized. The complex was characterized by a variety of physical methods, including X-ray crystallography. The X-ray diffraction analysis show a dinuclear complex of two six-coordinate vanadium centers doubly bridged by the oxygen atoms of the Schiff base ligand with a V(2)O(2) diamond core. The complex was administered intragastrically to STZ-diabetic rats for 2 weeks. The biological activity results show that the complex at the dose of 10.0 and 20.0 mg V kg(-1), could significantly decrease the blood glucose level and ameliorate impaired glucose tolerance in STZ-diabetic rats. That results suggested that the complex exerts an antidiabetic effect in STZ-diabetic rats. Furthermore, the complex ([V(2)O(2)(mu-O)(2)L(2)]) had permeability above 10(-5)cm/s. The experimental results suggested that the vanadium complex permeates via a passive diffusion mechanism. It was also suggested the complex with salen-type ligands has good lipophilic properties and better oral administration. The cytotoxicity of the complex ([V(2)O(2)(mu-O)(2)L(2)]) on Caco-2 cells was measured by a decrease of cell viability using the MTT assay suggesting that the chlorine atom at C4 of complex [V(2)O(2)(mu-O)(2)L(2)] increased cytotoxicity for vanadium complexes.
