Abstract
It has been two decades since biomimetic synthesis of conducting polymers were first reported, however, the systematic investigation of how catalysts influence the properties of the conducting polymers has not been reported yet. In this paper, we report a comparative study between peroxidase-like catalyst, dopants, and their effect on the properties of poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), polypyrrole (PPY), and polyaniline (PANI). We also investigate the EDOT-Pyrrole and EDOT-Aniline copolymerization by enzymomimetic synthesis using two catalysts (Ferrocene and Hematin). It was found that, chemically, there are no detectable effects, only having small contributions in molar ratios greater than 0.7–0.3. Spectroscopic data provide solid evidence concerning the effect in the variation of the molar fractions, finding that, as the molar fraction of EDOT decreases, changes associated with loss of the conjugation of the structure and the oxidation state of the chains were observed. The electrical conductivity was considerably modified depending on the type of catalyst. Hematin produces conductive homopolymers and copolymers when doped with p-toluene sulfonic acid (TSA), while ferrocene produces low conductive copolymers under the same conditions. The mole fraction affects conductivity significantly, showing that as the EDOT fraction decreases, the conductivity drops drastically for both EDOT-PY and EDOT-ANI copolymers. The type of dopant also notably affects conductivity; the best values were obtained by doping with TSA, while the lowest were obtained when doping with polystyrene sulfonate (PSS). We also draw a biomimetic route to tailor the fundamental properties of conducting homopolymers and copolymers for their design and scaled-up production, as they have recently been found to have use in a broad range of applications.

Abstract
Polypyrrole is a classical, well-known conjugated polymer that is produced from a simple heterocyclic system. Numerous pyrrole derivatives exhibit biological activity, and the repeat unit is a common building block present in the chemical structure of many polymeric materials, finding wide application, primarily in optoelectronics and sensing. In this work, we focus on the variety of copolymers and their material properties that can be produced electrochemically, even though all these systems are obtained from mixtures of the "simple" pyrrole monomer and its derivatives with different conjugated and non-conjugated species.

Abstract
The study reports a facile and eco-friendly approach for nanomaterial synthesis and enzyme immobilization. A corresponding glucose biosensor was fabricated by immobilizing the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and glucose oxidase (GOD) multilayer films onto the polypyrrole (PPy)/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) via the electrodeposition and self-assembly. PPy and graphene oxide were first coated on the surface of a bare GCE by the electrodeposition. Then, AuNPs and GOD were alternately immobilized onto PPy-RGO/GCE electrode using the electrodeposition of AuNPs and self-assembly of GOD to obtain AuNPs-GOD multilayer films. The resulting PPy-RGO-(AuNPs-GOD)n/GCE biosensors were used to characterize and assess their electrocatalytic activity toward glucose using cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. The response current increased with the increased number of AuNPs-GOD layers, and the biosensor based on four layers of AuNPs-GOD showed the best performance. The PPy-RGO-(AuNPs-GOD)₄/GCE electrode can detect glucose in a linear range from 0.2 mM to 8 mM with a good sensitivity of 0.89 μA/mM, and a detection limit of 5.6 μM (S/N = 3). This study presents a promising eco-friendly biosensor platform with advantages of electrodeposition and self-assembly, and would be helpful for the future design of more complex electrochemical detection systems.

Abstract
Here we report a facile eco-friendly one-step electrochemical approach for the fabrication of a polypyrrole (PPy), reduced graphene oxide (RGO), and gold nanoparticles (nanoAu) biocomposite on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The electrochemical behaviors of PPy–RGO–nanoAu and its application to electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Graphene oxide and pyrrole monomer were first mixed and casted on the surface of a cleaned GCE. After an electrochemical processing consisting of the electrooxidation of pyrrole monomer and simultaneous electroreduction of graphene oxide and auric ions (Au3+) in aqueous solution, a PPy–RGO–nanoAu biocomposite was synthesized on GCE. Each component of PPy–RGO–nanoAu is electroactive without non-electroactive substance. The obtained PPy–RGO–nanoAu/GCE exhibited high electrocatalytic activity toward hydrogen peroxide, which allows the detection of hydrogen peroxide at a negative potential of about −0.62 V vs. SCE. The amperometric responses of the biosensor displayed a sensitivity of 40 µA/mM, a linear range of 32 µM–2 mM, and a detection limit of 2.7 µM (signal-to-noise ratio = 3) with good stability and acceptable reproducibility and selectivity. The results clearly demonstrate the potential of the as-prepared PPy–RGO–nanoAu biocomposite for use as a highly electroactive matrix for an amperometric biosensor.

Abstract
This article describes the synthesis and characterization of poly(2,2′-bithiophene) (PBT), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), and poly(2,2′-bithiophene- co-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (P(BT- co-EDOT)) copolymers via chemical and electrochemical oxidation polymerization methods. The P(BT- co-EDOT) nanoparticles made of conjugated polymers with different feed ratios of monomers were synthesized by chemical polymerization in the presence of anhydrous ferric chloride and mixtures of acetonitrile (CH3CN) and dichloromethane as a binary organic solvent. The polymers obtained were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, and their thermal behaviors were examined by thermogravimetric analysis. The electrical conductivity of the samples was measured using samples in which the conductive materials were sandwiched between two nickel electrodes at room temperature. The surface morphology and crystallinity of the synthesized samples were observed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometer, respectively. In electrochemical method, copolymer thin films were prepared with different feed ratios of monomers by cyclic voltammetry in an CH3CN-tetrabutheylamonium perchlorate solvent–electrolyte couple on the surface of the glassy carbon microelectrode as the working electrode. Deposition conditions and influence of the molar ratios of monomers on the electroactivity were investigated under cyclic voltammetric conditions.

Abstract
In this review, we report the state-of-the-art of polymers in thermoelectricity. Classically, a number of inorganic compounds have been considered as the best thermoelectric materials. Since the prediction of the improvement of the figure of merit by means of electronic confinement in 1993, it has been improved by a factor of 3-4. In the mean time, organic materials, in particular intrinsically conducting polymers, had been considered as competitors of classical thermoelectrics, since their figure of merit has been improved several orders of magnitude in the last few years. We review here the evolution of the figure of merit or the power factor during the last years, and the best candidates to compete with inorganic materials. We also outline the best polymers to substitute classical thermoelectric materials and the advantages they present in comparison with inorganic systems.
