Abstract
A universal ratiometric fluorescence and colorimetric dual-mode sensing platform for detecting hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and related metabolites in human fluid was constructed based on iron and nitrogen co-doped carbon dots (Fe/N-CDs). As a fluorescent nanomaterial with peroxidase-like property, Fe/N-CDs emits fluorescence at 449 nm (F449) under excitation of incident ultraviolet light, and can catalyze the oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) by H2O2 for generating 2,3-diaminophenazine (oxOPD) that exhibits obvious absorption at 420 nm (A420) and fluorescence emission at 555 nm (F555). The Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) between Fe/N-CDs and oxOPD would result in the fluorescence quenching Fe/N-CDs and the fluorescence enhancement of oxOPD, which facilitates the quantitation of oxOPD by ratiometric fluorometry. Since the amount of generated oxOPD is determined by the amount of H2O2 consumed during the oxidation reaction, the detection of H2O2 and related metabolites can be realized by monitoring both ratiometric fluorescent (F555/F449) and colorimetric (absorption, A420) signals of oxOPD. This dual-mode sensing platform exhibits excellent selectivity and sensitivity toward with H2O2, xanthine and uric acid in both human serum and urine samples, demonstrating its good potential for monitoring H2O2 and metabolites involved in H2O2 metabolism in human body. The detection limits (LODs) of H2O2, xanthine and uric acid obtained by this sensing platform were 0.07, 0.15, and 0.14 μM for ratiometric fluorescence mode, and 0.12, 0.52, and 0.47 μM for colorimetric mode, respectively. By utilizing appropriate oxidases in this universal sensing platform, the determination of other metabolites involved with producing H2O2 can also be realized facilely.

Abstract
Fifty-five years have passed and more than 100,000 articles have been published since the first report of an electrochemical enzyme biosensor. However, very few biosensors have reached practical application and commercialization. The bulk of the research effort has been on increasing sensitivity and selectivity. In contrast, the number of publications dealing with stability or stabilization of enzyme biosensors is very small. Here, we critically review enzyme stabilization strategies as well as the progress that has been done in the past 20 years with respect to enzyme biosensor stabilization. Glucose oxidase, lactate oxidase, alcohol oxidase, and xanthine oxidase are the focus of this review because of their potential applications in food. The inconsistency in reporting biosensor stability was identified as a critical hurdle to research progress in this area. Fundamental questions that remain unanswered are outlined.

Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an important reactive oxygen species (ROS). Maintaining the H2O2 concentration at a normal level is critical to achieve the normal physiological activities of cells, which otherwise might trigger various diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new and practical multisignaling sensors for both visualization of intracellular H2O2 and accurate detection of extracellular H2O2. In this paper, a novel multichannel signaling fluorescence-electrochemistry combined probe 1 (FE-H2O2) is presented for imaging and detection of H2O2 in living cell systems. In our design, the probe FE-H2O2 consists of a H2O2 reaction site and 4-ferrocenyl(vinyl)pyridine unit which affords chromogenic, fluorescent, and electrochemical signals. These structural motifs yield a combined chromogenic, fluorescent, and redox sensor in a single molecule. Probe FE-H2O2 showed a "Turn-On" fluorescence response to H2O2, which can be used for monitoring intracellular H2O2 in vivo. Furthermore, the electrochemical response of probe FE-H2O2 was decreased after the addition of H2O2, which can be applied for accurate detection of H2O2 released from living cells. When the fluorescence imaging method is combined with electrochemical analysis technology, it is hopeful that the well-designed multimodule probe can serve as a practical tool for understanding the metabolism and homeostasis of H2O2 in a complex biological system.

Abstract
The nanoparticles (NPs) of hemoglobin (Hb) were prepared by desolvation method and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV spectroscopy and Fourier-transform IR (FTIR) spectroscopy. An amperometric H2O2 biosensor was constructed by immobilizing HbNPs covalently on to a polycrystalline Au electrode (AuE). HbNPs/AuE were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) before and after immobilization of HbNPs. The HbNPs/AuE showed optimum response within 2.5 s at pH 6.5 in 0.1 M sodium phosphate buffer (PB) containing 100 μM H2O2 at 30°C, when operated at –0.2 V against Ag/AgCl. The HbNPs/AuE exhibited Vmax of 5.161 ± 0.1 μA cm−2 with apparent Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) of 0.1 ± 0.01 mM. The biosensor showed lower detection limit (1.0 μM), high sensitivity (129 ± 0.25 μA cm−2 mM−1) and wider linear range (1.0–1200 μM) for H2O2 as compared with earlier biosensors. The analytical recoveries of added H2O2 in serum (0.5 and 1.0 μM) were 97.77 and 98.01% respectively, within and between batch coefficients of variation (CV) were 3.16 and 3.36% respectively. There was a good correlation between sera H2O2 values obtained by standard enzymic colorimetric method and the present biosensor (correlation coefficient, R2 =0.99). The biosensor measured H2O2 level in sera of apparently healthy subjects and persons suffering from diabetes type II. The HbNPs/AuE lost 10% of its initial activity after 90 days of regular use, when stored dry at 4°C.
