Abstract
The advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) has increased the demand for large-scale intelligent sensing systems. The periodic replacement of power sources for ubiquitous sensing systems leads to significant resource waste and environmental pollution. Human staffing costs associated with replacement also increase the economic burden. The triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) provide both an energy harvesting scheme and the possibility of self-powered sensing. Based on contact electrification from different materials, TENGs provide a rich material selection to collect complex and diverse data. As the data collected by TENGs become increasingly numerous and complex, different approaches to machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms have been proposed to efficiently process output signals. In this paper, the latest advances in ML algorithms assisting solid-solid TENG and liquid-solid TENG sensors are reviewed based on the sample size and complexity of the data. The pros and cons of various algorithms are analyzed and application scenarios of various TENG sensing systems are presented. The prospects of synergizing hardware (TENG sensors) with software (ML algorithms) in a complex environment and their main challenges for future developments are discussed.

Abstract
Efforts to design devices emulating complex cognitive abilities and response processes of biological systems have long been a coveted goal. Recent advancements in flexible electronics, mirroring human tissue's mechanical properties, hold significant promise. Artificial neuron devices, hinging on flexible artificial synapses, bioinspired sensors, and actuators, are meticulously engineered to mimic the biological systems. However, this field is in its infancy, requiring substantial groundwork to achieve autonomous systems with intelligent feedback, adaptability, and tangible problem-solving capabilities. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in artificial neuron devices. It starts with fundamental principles of artificial synaptic devices and explores artificial sensory systems, integrating artificial synapses and bioinspired sensors to replicate all five human senses. A systematic presentation of artificial nervous systems follows, designed to emulate fundamental human nervous system functions. The review also discusses potential applications and outlines existing challenges, offering insights into future prospects. We aim for this review to illuminate the burgeoning field of artificial neuron devices, inspiring further innovation in this captivating area of research.

Abstract
Soft and stretchable force sensors are widely used for health monitoring, robotics, prosthetics, and other applications. Soft force sensors with the capability of measuring both normal and shear force could offer even greater functionality and provide more information, particularly in the field of biomechanics. In this work, a new solid-state force sensor is proposed that can measure both normal and shear forces at the same time. The soft and stretchable sensor was fabricated using an ionic liquid (IL)/polymer network. Two separate IL-based polymer membranes were used to detect normal and shear forces. Sensor architecture and electrical wiring for normal, shear, and combined sensing were developed, and various material compositions for different sensor layers were investigated to find the combination that could achieve the optimum sensor performance. A basic material formulation for carbon nanotube-based electrodes, the IL/polymer network, and polymeric insulation layers was proposed. To configure a combined (normal and shear) sensor, separate sensors for normal and shear deformations were first designed and investigated. Later, a combined sensor was fabricated using a mold via screen printing, photocuring, and thermal curing. The combined sensor was evaluated under different force conditions. The results show that the sensor can reliably measure normal and shear forces. Moreover, the findings demonstrate a way to successfully modulate the sensitivity for normal and shear sensing by varying the material composition or geometric configuration, which provides flexibility for application-specific designs.

Abstract
Biological macromolecules have been significantly used in the medicine due to their certain therapeutic values. Macromolecules have been employed in medical filed in order to enhance, support, and substitute damaged tissues or any other biological function. In the past decade, the biomaterial field has developed considerably because of vast innovations in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, etc. Different types of biological macromolecules such as natural protein and polysaccharide etc. and synthetic molecules such as metal based, polymer based, and ceramic based etc. have been discussed. These materials can be modified by coatings, fibres, machine parts, films, foams, and fabrics for utilization in biomedical products and other environmental applications. At present, the biological macromolecules can used in different areas like medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, tissue engineering, and materials science. These materials have been used to promote the healing of human tissues, medical implants, bio-sensors and drug delivery, etc. These materials also considered as environmentally sustainable as they are prepared in association with renewable natural resources and living organisms in contrast to non-renewable resources (petrochemicals). In addition, enhanced compatibility, durability and circular economy of biological materials make them highly attractive and innovative for current research.The present review paper summarizes a brief about biological macromolecules, their classification, methods of synthesis, and their role in biomedicine, dyes and herbal products.

Abstract
In this paper, we report the preparation of two new composite materials based on cotton fibers and magnetic liquid consisting of magnetite nanoparticles and light mineral oil. Using the composites and two simple textolite plates plated with copper foil assembled with self-adhesive tape, electrical devices are manufactured. By using an original experimental setup, we measured the electrical capacitance and the loss tangent in a medium-frequency electric field superimposed on a magnetic field. We found that in the presence of the magnetic field, the electrical capacity and the electrical resistance of the device change significantly with the increase of the magnetic field, then, the electrical device is suitable to be used as a magnetic sensor. Furthermore, the electrical response functions of the sensor, for fixed values of the magnetic flux density, change linearly with the increase in the value of the mechanical deformation stress, which gives it a tactile function. When applying mechanical stresses of fixed values, by increasing the value of the magnetic flux density, the capacitive and resistive functions of the electrical device change significantly. So, by using the external magnetic field, the sensitivity of the magneto-tactile sensor increases, therefore the electrical response of this device can be amplified in the case of low values of mechanical tension. This makes the new composites promising candidates for the fabrication of magneto-tactile sensors.

Abstract
Hydrogels are three-dimensional polymer networks with excellent flexibility. In recent years, ionic hydrogels have attracted extensive attention in the development of tactile sensors owing to their unique properties, such as ionic conductivity and mechanical properties. These features enable ionic hydrogel-based tactile sensors with exceptional performance in detecting human body movement and identifying external stimuli. Currently, there is a pressing demand for the development of self-powered tactile sensors that integrate ionic conductors and portable power sources into a single device for practical applications. In this paper, we introduce the basic properties of ionic hydrogels and highlight their application in self-powered sensors working in triboelectric, piezoionic, ionic diode, battery, and thermoelectric modes. We also summarize the current difficulty and prospect the future development of ionic hydrogel self-powered sensors.

Abstract
Flexible sensors are the essential foundations of pressure sensing, microcomputer sensing systems, and wearable devices. The flexible tactile sensor can sense stimuli by converting external forces into electrical signals. The electrical signals are transmitted to a computer processing system for analysis, realizing real-time health monitoring and human motion detection. According to the working mechanism, tactile sensors are mainly divided into four types-piezoresistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, and triboelectric tactile sensors. Conventional silicon-based tactile sensors are often inadequate for flexible electronics due to their limited mechanical flexibility. In comparison, polymeric nanocomposites are flexible and stretchable, which makes them excellent candidates for flexible and wearable tactile sensors. Among the promising polymers, conjugated polymers (CPs), due to their unique chemical structures and electronic properties that contribute to their high electrical and mechanical conductivity, show great potential for flexible sensors and wearable devices. In this paper, we first introduce the parameters of pressure sensors. Then, we describe the operating principles of resistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, and triboelectric sensors, and review the pressure sensors based on conjugated polymer nanocomposites that were reported in recent years. After that, we introduce the performance characteristics of flexible sensors, regarding their applications in healthcare, human motion monitoring, electronic skin, wearable devices, and artificial intelligence. In addition, we summarize and compare the performances of conjugated polymer nanocomposite-based pressure sensors that were reported in recent years. Finally, we summarize the challenges and future directions of conjugated polymer nanocomposite-based sensors.

Abstract
Growing environmental concerns are stimulating researchers to develop more and more efficient materials for environmental remediation. Among them, polymer-based hierarchical structures, attained by properly combining certain starting components and processing techniques, represent an emerging trend in materials science and technology. In this work, graphene oxide (GO) and/or carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were integrated at different loading levels into poly (vinyl fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-co-HFP) and then electrospun to construct mats capable of treating water that is contaminated by methylene blue (MB). The materials, fully characterized from a morphological, physicochemical, and mechanical point of view, were proved to serve as membranes for vacuum-assisted dead-end membrane processes, relying on the synergy of two mechanisms, namely, pore sieving and adsorption. In particular, the nanocomposites containing 2 wt % of GO and CNTs gave the best performance, showing high flux (800 L × m-2 h-1) and excellent rejection (99%) and flux recovery ratios (93.3%), along with antifouling properties (irreversible and reversible fouling below 6% and 25%, respectively), and reusability. These outstanding outcomes were ascribed to the particular microstructure employed, which endowed polymeric membranes with high roughness, wettability, and mechanical robustness, these capabilities being imparted by the peculiar self-assembled network of GO and CNTs.

Abstract
In the past two decades, biomimetic tactile sensing technology has been a hot spot in academia. It has prospective applications in many fields such as medical treatment, health monitoring, robot tactile feedback, and human-machine interaction. With the rapid development of magnetic sensors, biomimetic tactile sensing technology based on magnetic sensors (which are called magnetic tactile sensors below) has been widely studied in recent years. In order to clarify the development status and application characteristics of magnetic tactile sensors, this paper firstly reviews the magnetic tactile sensors from three aspects: the types of magnetic sensors, the sources of magnetic field, and the structures of sensitive bodies used in magnetic tactile sensors. Secondly, the development of magnetic tactile sensors in four applications of robot precision grasping, texture characterization, flow velocity measurement, and medical treatment is introduced in detail. Finally, this paper analyzes technical difficulties and proposes prospective research directions for magnetic tactile sensors.

Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the application of conducting polymers (CPs) used in the design of tactile sensors. While conducting polymers can be used as a base in a variety of forms, such as films, particles, matrices, and fillers, the CPs generally remain the same. This paper, first, discusses the chemical and physical properties of conducting polymers. Next, it discusses how these polymers might be involved in the conversion of mechanical effects (such as pressure, force, tension, mass, displacement, deformation, torque, crack, creep, and others) into a change in electrical resistance through a charge transfer mechanism for tactile sensing. Polypyrrole, polyaniline, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), polydimethylsiloxane, and polyacetylene, as well as application examples of conducting polymers in tactile sensors, are overviewed. Attention is paid to the additives used in tactile sensor development, together with conducting polymers. There is a long list of additives and composites, used for different purposes, namely: cotton, polyurethane, PDMS, fabric, Ecoflex, Velostat, MXenes, and different forms of carbon such as graphene, MWCNT, etc. Some design aspects of the tactile sensor are highlighted. The charge transfer and operation principles of tactile sensors are discussed. Finally, some methods which have been applied for the design of sensors based on conductive polymers, are reviewed and discussed.

Abstract
Hydrophilic hydrogels exhibit good mechanical properties and biocompatibility, whereas hydrophobic elastomers show excellent stability, mechanical firmness, and waterproofing in various environments. Hydrogel-elastomer hybrid material devices show varied application prospects in the field of bioelectronics. In this paper, the research progress in hydrogel-elastomer adhesion in recent years, including the hydrogel-elastomer adhesion mechanism, adhesion method, and applications in the bioelectronics field, is reviewed. Finally, the research status of adhesion between hydrogels and elastomers is presented.
