Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure primarily occurs through dietary intake. This study aimed to estimate the extent of dietary BPA exposure among Koreans. A thorough literature search was conducted to establish a BPA content database encompassing common foods consumed in Korea, including various food raw materials and processed food products. Dietary exposure levels were estimated by integrating the constructed BPA database with comprehensive nationwide 24 h-dietary recall datasets. The finding revealed that dietary BPA exposure was low for most Koreans, with a mean of 14.5 ng/kg bw/day, but was higher for preschool-age children (over 23 ng). Canned foods accounted for 9-36% of the total dietary exposure of the highest dietary exposure groups; while across all age groups, a considerable amount was derived from canned tuna, contribution of canned fruits and canned coffee (milk-containing) was high for preschool-age children and adults, respectively. Notably, for adults, a substantial proportion also stemmed from beer packaged in cans. While diet contributed over 80% of aggregate exposure for most age groups, preschool-age children experienced 60% exposure through diet due to additional exposure from indoor dust. Even at the high exposure scenario, aggregate BPA exposure levels remained lower than the current tolerable daily intake (TDI) set by the Korean agency (20 μg/kg bw/day). Nevertheless, most Koreans were exposed to BPA levels surpassing the strictest TDI (0.2 ng/kg bw/day) set by the European Food Safety Authority.

Abstract
A novel ferrofluid of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and a deep eutectic solvent (DES) composed of menthol and pentanoic acid was introduced as a green microextraction medium. The ferrofluid was successfully used as an extractant for vortex-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction (VALLME) of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in environmental waters prior to their determination by HPLC-DAD. Once the ferrofluid was dispersed in the sample by vortex agitation, phase separation could be easily achieved by placing a neodymium magnet next to the tube, which eliminated the centrifugation step and simplified the operational procedure. As a result, the sample pretreatment took only ≈2 min. The experimental parameters, including pH, nanoparticle amount, ferrofluid volume, vortex time, salt amount, and disruptive solvent type and its volume, were optimized stepwise. The method showed linear behavior for all NSAIDs from 5 to 100 μg/L, with limit of detection values and enrichment factors in the ranges of 1.68-2.05 μg/L and 38.9-50.6, respectively. Intra- and Inter-day accuracies obtained from the analysis of spiked river, lake, and tap water samples at low and high-quality control levels (20 and 80 μg/L) ranged from 90.3% to 108.0%, with relative standard deviations less than <12.3%. The results of this study demonstrate that the use of DES-based ferrofluid in VALLME can be considered a simple, environmentally friendly, and reliable alternative for the determination of NSAIDs in environmental waters.

Abstract
In this study, a hydroxyl-rich ferrofluid was prepared by dispersing silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles into a methyltrioctylammonium chloride-glycerol deep eutectic solvent and then employed in the preconcentration of trace-level of cinnamic acid derivatives (caffeic acid, p-hydroxycinnamic acid, ferulic acid, and cinnamic acid) in traditional Chinese medicine prior to high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. The structures of the synthesized materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The experimental parameters affecting the extraction performance, such as deep eutectic solvent composition, dosage of ferrofluid, pH of aqueous sample solution, salt concentration, extraction time, type, and volume of desorption solvent, were studied and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the enrichment factors of four cinnamic acid derivatives were in the range of 107-114. Low detection limits (0.2-0.9 ng/mL), good precisions (relative standard deviations 1.2%-9.5%), and satisfactory recoveries (96.0%-104.7%) were achieved. Subsequently, the possible microextraction mechanism of the proposed method was explored and elucidated. It showed that the prepared ferrofluid is easily dispersed in the aqueous sample and achieved recovery after the extraction. The developed approach is a simple, convenient, and efficient method for preconcentration and determination of cinnamic acid derivatives in complex matrices.

Abstract
A microextraction technique based on ferrofluids was developed for the preconcentration and quantification of Remdesivir in human plasma samples. This method utilized a new type of magnetic colloids created by combining silica-coated magnetic particles with modified ionic liquid and natural hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent as the carrier liquid. The efficiency of the sorption and desorption steps was optimized using a chemometrics approach. Under the optimized conditions, the calibration curve exhibited linearity in the concentration range of 0.5 to 500.0 μg L-1, with a limit of detection and quantification of 0.2 and 0.5 μg L-1, respectively. The method precision was evaluated by assessing intra- and interday precision at three different analyte concentrations, yielding values of 8.9% and 16.8%, respectively. Moreover, the method accuracy fell within the range of 90.9% to 107.5%. This proposed method offers a green and environmentally friendly sample preparation technique for conducting pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, and therapeutic drug monitoring studies of Remdesivir in biological fluids. Importantly, this technique eliminates the need for external energy sources or the use of dispersive solvents, providing a more efficient and sustainable approach.

Abstract
In the present study, a ternary phase solvent extraction combined with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction was developed for the extraction of diazinon, haloxyfop-R-methyl, hexaconazole, diniconazole, and triticonazole from cheese samples. The extracted analytes were determined using gas chromatography. In this work, first, the analytes were extracted into an organic phase and then enriched using a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction. Deep eutectic solvent-based ferrofluid was synthesized and used as an extraction solvent in the dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction step, which makes the method fast and green. After optimization of experimental conditions, under the best extraction conditions, limits of detection and quantification were found in the ranges of 0.18-0.39 and 0.6-1.3 ng g-1, respectively. Enrichment factors and extraction recoveries of the analytes ranged from 138-156 and 69-78%, respectively. In the end, the proposed method was successfully applied to assess the studied pesticides in cheese samples.

Abstract
In this work, β-cyclodextrin-functionalized magnetic graphene oxide (NiFe2O4@GO@β-CD) was synthesized and employed as magnetic solid-phase extraction adsorbent for the extraction of bisphenols before high performance liquid chromatography analysis. The modification of β-cyclodextrin could enhance the adsorption performance of NiFe2O4@GO@β-CD towards bisphenols through the host-guest interaction and hydrogen-bond interaction. Under the optimal conditions, good linearities between peak area and concentration of bisphenols (1 - 300 μg L-1, r ≥ 0.9989) were obtained with the limits of detection (S/N = 3) in the range of 0.050 - 0.10 μg L-1. The recoveries of bisphenols in milk and milk packaging ranged from 78.0% to 101.6%. Moreover, NiFe2O4@GO@β-CD showed stable chemical properties and good reusability with the recoveries of bisphenols remained above 80.0% after 12 MSPE cycles. The adsorption characteristics of NiFe2O4@GO@β-CD towards bisphenols fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir model. The hydrogen-bond interaction, π-π interaction, host-guest interaction and electrostatic interaction between sorbent and bisphenols played important role during the adsorption process. The developed method showed potential applications for the analysis of trace bisphenols in milk and milk packaging.

Abstract
In this work, magnetic nanofluid based on a deep eutectic solvent that constricts through a simple and easy route, and subsequently applied for the preconcentration and microextraction of chloramphenicol (CAP) as a hazardous drug from milk and chicken samples via syringe-to-syringe microextraction prior to its determination by high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet (HPLC-UV). In addition, the optimum conditions of effective factors were searched by the central composite design (CCD), and subsequently, at their optimum value, the figures of merit were evaluated. Also, the suggested method illustrated a low limit of detection (0.2 ng mL-1), a low limit of quantitation (0.67 ng mL-1), and a good linear range with an R2 of 0.996. The CAP relative recoveries in milk and chicken samples were 90.3%-95.1%, with relative standard deviations lower than 4.2%. The current enhancement technique is simple, easy, and rapid, which makes it suitable for quantification of CAP by HPLC-UV at trace levels in complicated materials with reliable and reproducible results.

Abstract
Ferrofluids are colloidal suspensions of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) within aqueous or nonaqueous liquids that exhibit strong magnetic properties. These magnetic properties allow ferrofluids to be manipulated and controlled when exposed to magnetic fields. This review aims to provide the current scope and research opportunities regarding the methods of synthesis of nanoparticles, surfactants, and carrier liquids for ferrofluid production, along with the rheology and applications of ferrofluids within the fields of medicine, water treatment, and mechanical engineering. A ferrofluid is composed of IONPs, a surfactant that coats the magnetic IONPs to prevent agglomeration, and a carrier liquid that suspends the IONPs. Coprecipitation and thermal decomposition are the main methods used for the synthesis of IONPs. Despite the fact that thermal decomposition provides precise control on the nanoparticle size, coprecipitation is the most used method, even when the oxidation of iron can occur. This oxidation alters the ratio of maghemite/magnetite, influencing the magnetic properties of ferrofluids. Strategies to overcome iron oxidation have been proposed, such as the use of an inert atmosphere, adjusting the Fe(II) and Fe(III) ratio to 1:2, and the exploration of other metals with the oxidation state +2. Surfactants and carrier liquids are chosen according to the ferrofluid application to ensure stability. Hence, a compatible carrier liquid (polar or nonpolar) is selected, and then, a surfactant, mainly a polymer, is embedded in the IONPs, providing a steric barrier. Due to the variety of surfactants and carrier liquids, the rheological properties of ferrofluids are an important response variable evaluated when synthesizing ferrofluids. There are many reported applications of ferrofluids, including biosensing, medical imaging, medicinal therapy, magnetic nanoemulsions, and magnetic impedance. Other applications include water treatment, energy harvesting and transfer, and vibration control. To progress from synthesis to applications, research is still ongoing to ensure control of the ferrofluids' properties.

Abstract
Ferrofluids (FFs) constitute a type of tunable magnetic material, formed by magnetic nanoparticles suspended in a liquid carrier. The astonishing magnetic properties of these materials and their liquid nature have led to their extended use in different applications, including fields such as magnetochemistry, optics, and biomedicine, among others. Recently, FFs have been incorporated as extractant materials in magnetic-driven analytical sample preparation procedures, thus, permitting the development of different applications. FF-based extraction takes advantage of both the magnetic susceptibility of the nanoparticles and the properties of the liquid carrier, which are responsible for a wide variety of interactions with analytes and ultimately are a key factor in achieving better extraction performance. This review article classifies existing FFs in terms of the solvent used as a carrier (organic solvents, water, ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, and supramolecular solvents) while overviewing the most relevant analytical applications in the last decade.

Abstract
The paper shows a procedure for selecting the control method parameters (factors) to obtain a preset 'analytical target profile' when a liquid chromatographic technique is going to be carried out for the simultaneous determination of five bisphenols (bisphenol-A, bisphenol-S, bisphenol-F, bisphenol-Z and bisphenol-AF), some of them regulated by the European Union. The procedure has three steps. The first consists of building a D-optimal combined design (mixture-process design) for the control method parameters, which are the composition of the ternary mobile phase and its flow rate. The second step is to fit a PLS2 model to predict six analytical responses (namely, the resolution between each pair of consecutive peaks, and the initial and final chromatographic time) as a function of the control method parameters. The third final step is the inversion of the PLS2 model to obtain the conditions needed for attaining a preset analytical target profile. The computational inversion of the PLS2 prediction model looking for the Pareto front of these six responses provides a set of experimental conditions to conduct the chromatographic determination, specifically 22% of water, mixed with 58% methanol and 20% of acetonitrile, keeping the flow rate at 0.66 mL min-1. These conditions give a chromatogram with retention times of 2.180, 2.452, 2.764, 3.249 and 3.775 min for BPS, BPF, BPA, BPAF and BPZ, respectively, and excellent resolution among all the chromatographic peaks. Finally, the analytical method is validated under the selected experimental conditions, in terms of trueness and precision. In addition, the detection capability for the five bisphenols were: 596, 334, 424, 458 and 1156 μg L-1, with probabilities of false positive and of false negative equal to 0.05.

Abstract
Supramolecular solvent-based micro-extraction is a very important green technique for the isolation and pre-concentration of pesticide residues in food and environmental samples prior to their chromatographic analysis. The attractive features of supramolecular solvent-based micro-extraction include its simplicity, high pre-concentration factor, fastness, accuracy, low cost, less consumption of chemical reagents and environmental friendliness. The supramolecular solvent is generated from a ternary mixture of amphiphiles, water and a water miscible dispersion and coacervating solvent. Tehydrofuran is one of the solvents commonly used as both a dispersion solvent and a coacervating agent. This paper gives a recent comprehensive review on the application of alkanols as amphiphiles during supramolecular solvent-based micro-extraction of pesticide residues in food and environmental samples. Other researchers used long chain fatty acids as amphiphiles during pesticide analysis in food and environmental samples using supramolecular solvent-based micro-extraction, and this is discussed in this paper. The incorporation of ferrofluids in supramolecular solvents enables phase separation using a magnet instead of the time-consuming centrifugation technique. This paper also gives a detailed review of the application of ferrofluid-based supramolecular solvent micro-extraction of pesticide residues in food and environmental samples.

Abstract
Single-drop microextraction (SDME) techniques are efficient approaches to pretreatment of aqueous samples. The main advantage of SDME lies in the miniaturization of the solvent extraction process, minimizing the hazards associated with the use of toxic organic solvents. Thus, SDME techniques are cost-effective, and represent less harm to the environment, subscribing to green analytical chemistry principles. In practice, two main approaches can be used to perform SDME - direct immersion (DI)-SDME and headspace (HS)-SDME. Even though the DI-SDME has been shown to be quite effective for extraction and enrichment of various organic compounds, applications of DI-SDME are normally more suitable for moderately polar and non-polar semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) using organic solvents which are immiscible with water. In this review, we present a historical overview and current advances in DI-SDME, including the common analytical tools which are usually coupled with DI-SDME. The review also focuses on applications concerning SVOCs in environmental samples. Currents trends in DI-SDME and possible future direction of the procedure are discussed.

Abstract
Sample pretreatment is the first and the most important step of an analytical procedure. In routine analysis, liquid–liquid microextraction (LLE) is the most widely used sample pre-treatment technique, whose goal is to isolate the target analytes, provide enrichment, with cleanup to lower the chemical noise, and enhance the signal. The use of extensive volumes of hazardous organic solvents and production of large amounts of waste make LLE procedures unsuitable for modern, highly automated laboratories, expensive, and environmentally unfriendly. In the past two decades, liquid-phase microextraction (LPME) was introduced to overcome these drawbacks. Thanks to the need of only a few microliters of extraction solvent, LPME techniques have been widely adopted by the scientific community. The aim of this review is to report on the state-of-the-art LPME techniques used in gas and liquid chromatography. Attention was paid to the classification of the LPME operating modes, to the historical contextualization of LPME applications, and to the advantages of microextraction in methods respecting the value of green analytical chemistry. Technical aspects such as description of methodology selected in method development for routine use, specific variants of LPME developed for complex matrices, derivatization, and enrichment techniques are also discussed.

Abstract
In this paper, counter current salting-out homogenous liquid-liquid extraction was combined with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction for the determination of environmental estrogens in water samples by high-performance liquid chromatography. In this method, initially, sodium chloride was filled into a syringe and a mixture of water sample and acetonitrile was driven to pass through the syringe. Due to salting-out effect, fine droplets of acetonitrile went up through the remaining mixture and aggregated as a separated layer on the top. Then, the collected organic phase (acetonitrile) was removed with a syringe and mixed with carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent). In the second step, the mixed organic phase was rapidly injected into 5 mL of distilled water to further enrich the analytes. Good linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 2.0~200 ng/mL for diethylstilbestrol (DES) and 8.0~200 ng/mL for octylphenol (OP), respectively. Limits of detection were 0.09 ng/mL for DES and 0.20 ng/mL for OP, respectively. Relative standard deviations for intra- and inter-day precisions were less than 2.1 and 3.1%, respectively. Finally, the established method was successfully applied to determine DES and OP in river water, well water, bottled water and campus drinking water samples with recoveries in the range from 81.0 to 105.9%.

Abstract
A sensitive electrochemical sensor for BPA based on the AuPd incorporated carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with synergetic amplified current signal was developed, where MWCNT was used as supporter to improve electron transport and poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) was used as dispersant for MWCNT and overcome the intrinsic van der Waals interactions between MWCNT and further increase metal NPs loading. The prepared MWCNT-PDDA-AuPd showed enhanced electrocatalytic performance toward BPA, which is better than those of homologous monometallic counterparts and MWCNT-PDDA though the content of AuPd is really low. The peak currents of BPA increased with BPA concentration in linear range of 0.18-18 μM and the detection limit of 60 nM. The sensor showed high sensitivity, good stability, repeatability and can be used to detect BPA in milk and water samples with good performance, which demonstrate that MWCNTs-PDDA-AuPd nanocomposite may be an attractive material in applications of environmental and food analysis.

Abstract
Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have already proven their efficacy in the disposal of a wide array of environmental contaminants in recent years. However, the difficulties in dispersibility and agglomeration of MNPs arising from its own physical and chemical properties limit its large-scale application. Herein, we fabricated the carbon dots/fatty acid-coated MNPs (CDs/C11-Fe3O4) through a facile and simple method. To utilize the advantage of carbon dots, these limitations can be mitigated by diminishing the size of MNPs and modifying the surface of MNPs. Detailed characterization including VSM, FT-IR, XPS and TEM conformed that the higher adsorption capacity of CDs/C11-Fe3O4 is mainly attributed to low average size (<8 nm), which is obviously lower than that of C11-Fe3O4 (about 13 nm). The CDs/C11-Fe3O4 showed higher adsorption performance than that of C11-Fe3O4 nanocomposites (76.23 ng mg-1 for CDs/C11-Fe3O4 and 59.89 ng mg-1 for C11-Fe3O4). The adsorption processes of BaP on both C11-Fe3O4 and CDs/C11-Fe3O4 nanocomposites are exothermic, and well simulated by pseudo-second-order model. Moreover, the CDs/C11-Fe3O4 were also applied for the detection of BaP in large-volume water samples, which satisfies the China environmental protection standard, are promising candidates for water remediation.
