Abstract
A collaborative assessment approach, including impact index of comprehensive quality (IICQ), food pollution index (FPI), and single factor pollution index (PI), was used to simultaneously select priority metal pollutants and assess metal contamination status in the plastic-shed soil (PSS)-vegetable system of the industrial towns situated in the Yangtze River Delta, China. Overall, significant Cr increment as well as Cd and Cu pollution in PSS existed, which was related to anthropogenic activities, especially industrial wastewater irrigation. The evaluation using PI and FPI demonstrated that priority metal pollutants were Cu and Cd in PSS while Cr and Cd in vegetables. Additionally, the estimation using IICQ method revealed that 23.3% and 13.3% of the sampling sites were sub-moderately and heavily contaminated by metals, respectively. These sites especially with heavy pollution need priority pollution management. These data will be beneficial to metal pollution control in PSS-vegetable system around industrial areas.

Abstract
Chromium (Cr), total arsenic (As), inorganic arsenic (iAs), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), methylmercury (MeHg), and lead (Pb) were analyzed in in Agaricus blazei, Tricholoma matsutake, Pholiota nameko, agrocybe aegirit, Boletus edulis, Auricularia auricula, and Lentinus edodes collected from online supermarket in China from 2015 to 2017. The order of mean concentrations for the five heavy metals in edible mushrooms was As > Cd > Cr > Pb > Hg. No positive correlation was found between total As and iAs, nor between total Hg and MeHg. The contents of iAs were at a low level except for A. blazei samples. The contents of MeHg were at a low level in all test mushroom samples. And Cr, Cd, and Pb pollution were common problems in the test mushroom samples. The comprehensive factor pollution index was between 0.569 (A. auricula) and 3.056 (B. edulis). The THQ values for the five heavy metals from P. nameko, A. auricula, A. aegirit, and L. edodes samples were less than 1. The hazard index (HI) values of A. blazei, T. matsutake, and B. edulis samples for adults and children were greater than 1, indicating significant health hazard to the adults and children consumers. The cancer risk (CR) values for iAs ranged from 3.82 × 10- 6 (T. matsutake) to 8.61 × 10- 5 (A. blazei), indicating no potential carcinogenic risk to the consumers. The order for carcinogenic risk of each edible mushroom species was A. blazei > L. edodes > P. nameko > A. aegirit > A. auricula > B. edulis > T. matsutake.

Abstract
Tropical Asian collections of Inosperma are usually poisonous mushrooms that have caused many poisoning incidents. However, the species diversity and the toxic mechanisms of these Inosperma species are still unclear. In this study, we describe the discovery of Inosperma wuzhishanense sp. nov. from Wuzhishan City, Hainan Province, tropical China. The new species was identified based on morphological and multi-locus (ITS, nrLSU, and RPB2) phylogenetic analyses. The new species is characterized by its reddish-brown pileus, fibrillose stipes with finely protruding fibrils, rather crowded lamellae, smooth and ellipsoid basidiospores, and mostly clavate, thin-walled cheilocystidia. The new species is phylogenetically nested in the Old World tropical clade 2 and is sister to the tropical Indian taxa I. akirnum. Detailed descriptions, color photos of the new species, and comparisons with its closely related species are provided. Additionally, the muscarine content of the new species was analyzed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). The muscarine contents ranged from 4,359.79 ± 83.87 mg/kg to 7,114.03 ± 76.55 mg/kg, 2,748.37 ± 106.85 mg/kg to 4,491.35 ± 467.21 mg/kg, and 2,301.36 ± 83.52 mg/kg to 2,775.90 ± 205.624 mg/kg in the stipe, pileus, and lamellae, respectively. The elemental composition and concentration were determined using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). A total of 24 elements were detected. Among the heavy metals detected, arsenic showed the highest level of toxicity with a concentration of 36.76 ± 0.43 mg/kg.

Abstract
Morel is a popular edible mushroom with considerable medicinal and economic value which has garnered global popularity. However, the increasing heavy metal (HM) pollution in the soil presents a significant challenge to morels cultivation. Given the susceptibility of morels to HM accumulation, the quality and output of morels are at risk, posing a serious food safety concern that hinders the development of the morel industry. Nonetheless, research on the mechanism of HM enrichment and mitigation strategies in morel remains scarce. The morel, being cultivated in soil, shows a positive correlation between HM content in its fruiting body and the HM content in the soil. Therefore, soil remediation emerges as the most practical and effective approach to tackle HM pollution. Compared to physical and chemical remediation, bioremediation is a low-cost and eco-friendly approach that poses minimal threats to soil composition and structure. HMs easily enriched during morels cultivation were examined, including Cd, Cu, Hg, and Pb, and we assessed soil passivation technology, microbial remediation, strain screening and cultivation, and agronomic measures as potential approaches for HM pollution prevention. The current review underscores the importance of establishing a comprehensive system for preventing HM pollution in morels.

Anti-Adipogenic Lanostane-Type Triterpenoids from the Edible and Medicinal Mushroom Ganoderma applanatum. J Fungi (Basel) 2022; 8:jof8040331. Abstract
Our previous research has shown that lanostane triterpenoids from Ganoderma applanatum exhibit significant anti-adipogenesis effects. In order to obtain more structurally diverse lanostane triterpenoids to establish a structure–activity relationship, we continued the study of lanostane triterpenoids from the fruiting bodies of G. applanatum, and forty highly oxygenated lanostane-type triterpenoinds (1–40), including sixteen new compounds (1–16), were isolated. Their structures were elucidated using NMR spectra, X-ray crystallographic analysis, and Mosher’s method. In addition, some of their parts were evaluated to determine their anti-adipogenesis activities in the 3T3-L1 cell model. The results showed that compounds 16, 22, 28, and 32 exhibited stronger anti-adipogenesis effects than the positive control (LiCl, 20 mM) at the concentration of 20 μM. Compounds 15 and 20 could significantly reduce the lipid accumulation during the differentiation process of 3T3-L1 cells, comparable to the untreated group. Their IC50 values were 6.42 and 5.39 μM, respectively. The combined results of our previous and present studies allow us to establish a structure-activity relationship of lanostane triterpenoids, indicating that the A-seco-23→26 lactone skeleton could play a key role in anti-adipogenesis activity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lentinula edodes (Berk.) is the second most productive mushroom in the world. It contains compounds effective for antiviral, antitumor, antioxidant and immune regulation. Although genomes have previously been reported for this species, a high-quality chromosome-level reference for L. edodes is unavailable. This hinders detailed investigation of population genetics, breeding history of strains and genes related to environmental stress responses. RESULTS A high-quality chromosome-level genome was constructed. We separated a monokaryon from protoplasts of the commercial L. edodes strain L808 and assembled the genome of L. edodes using PacBio long-read and Illumina short-read sequencing, along with the high-throughput chromatin conformation capture (Hi-C) technique. We assembled a 45.87 Mb genome, and 99% of the sequences were anchored onto 10 chromosomes. The contig and scaffold N50 length were 2.17 and 4.94 Mb, respectively. Over 96% of the complete Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs (BUSCO) were identified, and 9853 protein-coding genes were predicted. We performed population genome resequencing using 34 wild strains and 65 commercial cultivars of L. edodes originating from China, Japan, the United States and Australia. Based on whole-genome variants, we showed substantial differences in the Chinese wild population, which divided into different branches according to the main areas of their geographical distribution. We also determined the breeding history of L. edodes at the molecular level, and demonstrated that the cultivated strains in China mainly originated from wild strains from China and Northeast Asia. Phenotypic analysis showed that 99 strains exhibited differences on the Cd accumulation. Three significant loci in the of L. edodes genome were identified using the genome-wide association study (GWAS) of Cd accumulation traits. Functional genes associated with Cd accumulation traits were related to DNA ligase and aminoacyl tRNA synthetase, indicating that DNA damage repair and in vivo protein translation may be responses to Cd stress. CONCLUSIONS A high-quality chromosome-level genome and population genetic data of L. edodes provide genetic resources for functional genomic, evolutionary and artificial breeding studies for L. edodes.

Abstract
Morchella sp. is a typical edible fungus. However, its unique natural products, especially bioactive composition, are rarely reported. In this study, an untargeted metabolomics approach combined with multivariate statistical analysis was employed to screen the differential metabolites in Morchella sp. compared to four other edible fungi. Among the screened 50-top differential metabolites, 18 compounds involving fatty acids and peptides showed higher content in Morchella sp.. A unique peptide of desferriferricrocin was identified. Subsequently, molecular networking analysis revealed three novel homologous compounds of desferriferricrocin, which were annotated as desferriferrichrome, desferriferrichrome C, and a new homolog not previously reported. These results were further verified by quantitative analysis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of four peptides in Morchella sp..
