Abstract
A modified QuEChERS method was developed to determine multi-class pesticide and veterinary residues in aquatic products. Chitosan microspheres were conveniently synthesized and utilized as the cleanup adsorbent in the QuEChERS procedure, showcasing rapid filtration one-step pretreatment ability for the determination of drug multi-residues in aquatic products. Compared to conventional synthetic sorbents, chitosan microspheres not only have good purification performance, but also have renewable and degradable properties. This novel sorbent worked well in the simultaneous determination of 95 pesticides and veterinary drug residues in aquatic products after being combined with an improved one-step vortex oscillating cleanup method. We achieved recoveries ranging from 64.0% to 115.9% for target drugs in shrimp and fish matrix. The limits of detection and quantification were 0.5-1.0 and 1.0-2.0 μg kg-1, respectively. Notably, hydrocortisone was detected with considerable frequency and concentration in the tested samples, underscoring the necessity for stringent monitoring of this compound in aquatic products.

Abstract
The accumulation of perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) in environment and foods represents a significant threat to public health due to the long-term ingestion of contaminated food. This study introduces a novel adsorbent, the hierarchical porous hydrophilic molecularly imprinted resin (HPHMIR), which was synthesized by integrating molecular imprinting techniques with hydrophilic resins. The HPHMIR, characterized by its extensive mesoporous structure (average pore width ∼9.71 nm) and favorable imprinting factors (2.6-5.0), facilitates the effective adsorption of PFCAs from complex matrices through multiple interaction mechanisms, including hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions. This innovative material was employed in a 96-well plate format for solid-phase extraction (SPE), and combined with LC-MS/MS, a high-throughput method for the determination of PFCAs in milk was developed. The proposed method demonstrated exceptional performance, including excellent linearity (0.48-240 ng mL-1; r ≥ 0.9986), low detection limits (0.04-0.11 ng mL-1), high precision (relative standard deviation ≤ 9.9 %), and satisfactory recovery (75.7-118.1 %). These results highlight the efficacy of the method in extracting trace levels of PFCAs from complicated sample matrices, presenting a promising alternative for monitoring PFCA contamination and advancing public health standards.

Abstract
It is extremely significant while challenging to accurately detect low-levels of perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acid compounds (PFCAs) in environmental water. Herein, adopting perfluorotetradecanoic acid as the dummy template, selective molecularly imprinted composites (CNTs@ILs@MIPs) grafted carbon nanotubes integrating hydrophilic ionic liquids were successfully prepared via surface imprinting and dummy-template imprinting techniques. The obtained CNTs@ILs@MIPs were applied as selective extraction adsorbent for specifically extract PFCAs in environmental water coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry quantification. Detailed studies were conducted on the main preparation parameters and extraction conditions. The CNTs@ILs@MIPs displayed excellent adsorptivity, and the established method exhibited low LODs (0.60-1.64 ng L-1), wide linearity with R2 above 0.9994, and satisfactory adsorption recoveries (80.5-112.5%) for seven PFCAs. This proposed method provides a new applicable approach for the detection of targeted pollutants in environmental water by utilizing the high affinity and recognition ability of molecularly imprinted carbon nanotube functional materials modified with ionic liquids.

Abstract
A 15-channel pressure filtration purification method was presented for high throughput sample preparation of aquatic products. A cost-effective device was constructed and melamine sponge was selected as the cleanup sorbent. Upon interfacing with HPLC-MS/MS, the analytical procedure demonstrated its suitability for quantifying 160 pesticides and veterinary drug residues in aquatic products such as fish, shrimp, and crab. The method achieved sample recoveries ranging from 61.3 to 124.9 %. The detection limits were established between 0.5 and 1.0 μg/kg, while the quantitation limits were confirmed to be within the range of 1.0-2.0 μg/kg. The method was applied to quantify the pesticide and veterinary drug residues in mostly consumed aquatic products from five coastal provinces in China. The results showed significant differences between different aquatic products in the concentrations of pesticide and veterinary drug residues, implying the necessity of supervision for the accurate determination of pesticides and veterinary drugs.

Abstract
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), dubbed "forever chemicals", are widely present in the environment. Environmental contamination and food contact substances are the main sources of PFAS in food, increasing the risk of human dietary exposure. Numerous epidemiological studies have established the link between dietary exposure to PFAS and liver disease. Correspondingly, PFAS induced-hepatotoxicity (e.g., hepatomegaly, cell viability, inflammation, oxidative stress, bile acid metabolism dysregulation and glycolipid metabolism disorder) observed from in vitro models and in vivo rodent studies have been extensively reported. In this review, the pertinent literature of the last 5 years from the Web of Science database was researched. This study summarized the source and fate of PFAS, and reviewed the occurrence of PFAS in food system (natural and processed food). Subsequently, the characteristics of human dietary exposure PFAS (population characteristics, distribution trend, absorption and distribution) were mentioned. Additionally, epidemiologic evidence linking PFAS exposure and liver disease was alluded, and the PFAS-induced hepatotoxicity observed from in vitro models and in vivo rodent studies was comprehensively reviewed. Lastly, we highlighted several critical knowledge gaps and proposed future research directions. This review aims to raise public awareness about food PFAS contamination and its potential risks to human liver health.

Abstract
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) belong to the emerging class of persistent organohalogenated contaminants in the environment. We determined the levels of 10 PFAS in selected samples representing different food types, with a special focus on those rich in protein such as fish, meat and meat preparations, liver, eggs, and leguminous vegetables. Such determinations were based on the Quick Easy Cheap Effective Rugged Safe extraction procedure followed by micro-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The most frequently found was perfluorooctanoic acid, in 84% of the food samples. However, its maximum measured concentration was 0.50 ng g-1 , in a herring sample. The highest concentrations were for perfluorobutanoic acid (35 ng g-1 measured in a pork liver sample) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (12 ng g-1 measured in a herring sample). Because these compounds may bioaccumulate in human tissues by dietary intake, further research into their impact on human health is called for. Environ Toxicol Chem 2023;42:2589-2598. © 2023 SETAC.
