Abstract
This study investigated the effects of Cinnamomum osmophloeum leaf hot-water extract (CLWE) on nonspecific immune responses and resistance to Vibrio parahaemolyticus in white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). Firstly, a cell viability assay demonstrated that the CLWE is safe to white shrimp heamocytes in the concentration of 0-500 mg L-1. Haemocytes incubated in vitro with 10 and 50 mg L-1 of CLWE showed significantly higher response in superoxide anion production, PO activity, and phagocytic activity. In the in vivo trials, white shrimp were fed with 0, 0.5, 1, 5, and 10 g kg-1 CLWE supplemented feeds (designated as CLWE 0, CLWE 0.5, CLWE 1, CLWE 5, and CLWE 10, respectively) over a period of 28 days. In vivo experiments demonstrated that CLWE 0.5 feeding group resulted in the highest total haemocyte count, superoxide anion production, phenoloxidase activity, and phagocytic activity. Moreover, CLWE 0.5 supplemented feed significantly upregulated the clotting system, antimicrobial peptides, pattern recognition receptors, pattern recognition proteins, and antioxidant defences in white shrimp. Furthermore, the shrimp were infected with V. parahaemolyticus injections after 14 days of feeding as challenge test. Based on the challenge test result, both CLWE 0.5 and CLWE 5 demonstrated a strong resistance to V. parahaemolyticus. These two dosages effectively reduced the number of nonviable cells and activated different haemocyte subpopulations. These findings indicated that treatment with CLWE 0.5 could promote nonspecific immune responses, immune-related gene expression, and resistance to V. parahaemolyticus in white shrimp.

Abstract
In this study, our objective was to investigate the impact of dietary butyric acid (BA) on the homeostasis mechanism of Pacific shrimp under cold stress. Specifically, we analyzed its effects on immunity, antioxidant capacity, gene expression, and metabolomics response. To carry out this research, Litopenaeus vannamei were fed a diet supplemented with BA for 8 weeks. Following this feeding period, a total of 180 shrimp, with an average weight of 12.76 ± 0.38 g, were exposed to cold conditions, with the temperature decreasing from 28 °C to 14 °C within an hour. The results of our study revealed survival rates ranging from 90 % to 100 %. Shrimp that were fed a diet containing 1.5 % BA exhibited a significant increase in acid phosphatase (ACP) and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activity. Conversely, the control groups showed an increase in aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) activity. Shrimp that consumed diets containing 1.5 % BA displayed the lowest malondialdehyde (MDA) levels with the highest superoxide dismutase (SOD) content. The shrimp fed the BA diet exhibited tightly organized hepatic tubules with a star-shaped lumen filled with numerous B and R cells. Furthermore, shrimp fed the BA diet demonstrated a significant increase in caspase 3 (CASP) expression. There were no significant variations in the expression levels of prophenoloxidase (ProPO), manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), and glutathione S-transferase (GST) The metabolites of Dl-carnitine, acetyl-l-carnitine, propionylcarnitine, hexanoylcarnitine, palmitoylcarnitine, decanoylcarnitine, and Dl-carnitine exhibited significantly increased expression in shrimp that were fed BA, suggesting their role in the lipolysis process. Based on the findings, adding 2 % BA to the diet of Pacific shrimp helps reduce inflammation and oxidative stress when they are under cold stress.

Abstract
Intestinal microbiome contains several times of functional genes compared to the host and mediates the generation of multiple metabolic products, and therefore it is called "second genome" for host. Crustaceans rank second among the largest subphylum of aquaculture animals that are considered potentially satisfy global substantial food and nutrition security, among which the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) ranks the first in the production. Currently, increasing evidences show that outbreaks of some most devastating diseases in shrimp, including white feces syndrome (WFS) and acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), are related to intestinal microbiota dysbiosis. Importantly, the intestine microbial composition can be altered by environmental stress, diet, and age. In this review, we overview the progress of intestinal microbiota dysbiosis and WFS or ANPHD in shrimp, and how the microbial composition is altered by external factors. Hence, developing suitable microbial micro-ecological prevention and control strategy to maintain intestinal balance may be a feasible solution to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks. Moreover, we highlight that defining the "healthy intestine microbiota" and evaluating the causality of intestinal microbiota dysbiosis and diseases following the logic of "Microecological Koch's postulates" should be the key goal in future shrimp intestinal field, which help to guide disease diagnosis and prevent disease outbreaks in shrimp farming. Abstract
Environmental stress can disrupt the intricate interactions between the host and intestine microbiota, thereby impacting the host health. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the dynamic changes in the bacterial community within shrimp intestines under nitrite nitrogen (nitrite-N) stress and investigate potential host-related factors influencing these changes. Our results revealed a significant reduction in community diversity within the intestine exposed to nitrite-N compared to control conditions. Furthermore, distinct differences in community structures were observed between these two groups at 72 h and 120 h post-stress induction. Nitrite-N stress also altered the abundances of some bacterial species in the intestine dramatically. It is noteworthy that, in comparison to the 72 h, intestine bacterial community structure of stressed shrimp exhibited a significantly higher degree of dispersion after 120 h of nitrite-N stress when compared to control shrimp, and the relative abundance of numerous bacterial species experienced a substantial decrease or even reached 0 %. Moreover, it led to a reduction in bacterial community interactions and decreased competitiveness within the intestine microbiota. Notably, the influence of bacterial community assemblies in the shrimp intestine shifted from a stochastic process to a deterministic one after 24 h and 72 h of nitrite-N stress, returning to a stochastic process at 120 h. We further observed a close association between this phenomenon and host's response to nitrite-N stress. Expression levels of differentially expressed genes in the intestinal tissue significantly impact the intestine bacterial diversity and abundance of species. In particular, the significant decline in bacterial diversity and abundances of quite a few species in intestine was attributed to the up-regulation of peritrophin-48-like. Overall, nitrite-N stress indeed disrupted the intestine microbiota and changed the host-microbiota interactions of shrimp. This study offered novel insights into environment-host-microbiota interactions and also provided practical guidance for promoting healthy shrimp cultivation practices.

Abstract
Probiotics in shrimp aquaculture have gained considerable attention as a potential solution to enhance production efficiency, disease management, and overall sustainability. Probiotics, beneficial microorganisms, have shown promising effects when administered to shrimp as dietary supplements or water additives. Their inclusion has been linked to improved gut health, nutrient absorption, and disease resistance in shrimp. Probiotics also play a crucial role in maintaining a balanced microbial community within the shrimp pond environment, enhancing water quality and reducing pathogen prevalence. This article briefly summarizes the many ways that probiotics are used in shrimp farming and the advantages that come with them. Despite the promising results, challenges such as strain selection, dosage optimization, and environmental conditions are carefully addressed for successful probiotic integration in shrimp aquaculture. The potential of probiotics as a sustainable and ecologically friendly method of promoting shrimp development and health while advancing environmentally friendly shrimp farming techniques is highlighted in this analysis. Further research is required to fully exploit probiotics' benefits and develop practical guidelines for their effective implementation in shrimp aquaculture.

Abstract
This study explored the effects of dietary protein levels on Litopenaeus vannamei with its intestinal microbiota and transcriptome responses. Previous studies on the effects of dietary protein levels on L. vannamei have focused on growth performance, antioxidant indices, and digestive enzyme activity, but few studies have been conducted at the microbiological and molecular levels. In this study, five isolipid experimental diets with protein levels of 32% (P32), 36% (P36), 40% (P40), 44% (P44), and 48% (P48) were used in an L. vannamei (0.63 ± 0.02 g) feeding trial for 56 days. At the end of the feeding trial, the growth performance, immunity, intestinal health, and transcriptional responses of L. vannamei were determined. This study demonstrated that higher protein levels (P44) led to superior weight gain and growth rates for L. vannamei, with lower feed conversion ratios (FCR) observed in the P48 and P44 groups compared to the P32 and P36 groups (p ≤ 0.05). The P44 and P48 groups also showed a notably higher protein efficiency ratio (PER) compared to others (p ≤ 0.05), and there was no significant difference between them. Upon Vibrio parahaemolyticus infection, the P48 group exhibited a significantly lower survival rate (SR) within 48 h, while during 72 h of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) infection, the P44 group had a notably higher survival rate than the P32 group (p ≤ 0.05). Digestive enzyme activity and antioxidant levels in L. vannamei initially increased and then decreased as protein levels increased, usually peaking in the P40 or P44 groups. Lower dietary protein levels significantly reduced the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria and increased the relative abundance of pathogenic bacteria in the intestines of L. vannamei. Transcriptome sequencing analysis revealed that most differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were up-regulated and then down-regulated as dietary protein levels increased. Furthermore, KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicated that several immune and metabolic pathways, including metabolic pathways, glutathione metabolism, cytochrome P450, and lysosome and pancreatic secretion, were significantly enriched. In summary, the optimal feed protein level for L. vannamei shrimp was 40-44%. Inappropriate feed protein levels reduced antioxidant levels and digestive enzyme activity and promoted pathogen settlement, deceasing factors in various metabolic pathways that respond to microorganisms through transcriptional regulation. This could lead to stunted growth in L. vannamei and compromise their immune function.

Abstract
Background The gut microbiota is very important for maintaining the homeostasis and health of crustaceans. Many factors affect the gut microbiota of crustaceans, one of which is temperature. However, it is currently unclear how temperature affects the gut microbiota and metabolites of Procambarus clarkii. Methods Using metagenomic sequencing and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques, the gut microbiota and metabolites of P. clarkii from Hubei (HB), Jiangsu (JS), Shandong (SD), and Zhejiang (ZJ) in China were investigated. Results Under the impact of temperature, the gut microbiota and metabolites of P. clarkii exhibit a specific trend of change. The primary pathogenic bacteria affecting P. clarkii are Citrobacter, Enterobacterium, and Aeromonas, which are affected by temperature. Two metabolites, namely, sugars and amino acids, are regulated by temperature. Implication This study demonstrated that the gut microbiota and gut metabolites of P. clarkii were considerably affected by temperature. It provides a theoretical basis for the systematic study of P. clarkii and provides a basis for a healthy culture of P. clarkii.

Abstract
The reproduction, development and growth of shrimp were hindered by cold stress, and even death was caused in severe cases. Moreover, huge economic losses to the shrimp aquaculture industry were caused every year by cold currents. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential protective effects of water additives on the cold stress resistance of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and their ability to improve the survival and stress response of the shrimp. Three potential cold-resistant additives adenosine triphosphate (A), soybean phospholipid (SP) and Clostridium butyricum (CB) on Pacific white shrimp under cold stress were added to the water with three concentrations for each additive. The mortality, activities of antioxidation enzymes and expression of anti-stress related genes in each group under cold stress were detected. The results showed that the cumulative mortality of low concentration for adenosine triphosphate (AL) and soybean phospholipid (SPL), medium concentration for soybean phospholipid (SPM) and high concentration for Clostridium butyricum (CBH) groups were significantly lower than that of the control (C) group when temperature maintained at 13 °C for 6 days. Total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) content in shrimp plasma was significantly higher, while malondialdehyde (MDA) content was significantly lower than that in the C group. Gene expression analysis showed that 0.4 mg/L of adenosine triphosphate could regulate the immune defense ability and decrease apoptosis level of Pacific white shrimp under cold stress. Soybean phospholipid (2 mg/L) could enhance the immune ability of hepatopancreas, and Clostridium butyricum (10 mg/L) could significantly increase the expression of stress-related genes in shrimp intestine. Overall, these findings suggested that adenosine triphosphate and soybean phospholipid have the potential to be used as cold-resistant additives in Pacific white shrimp culture. This study provided valuable insights into addressing the problem of cold stress in shrimp culture.

Abstract
Antibiotic residue may pose a serious risk to aquaculture, and the culture of Litopenaeus vannamei in a low-salinity environment is a growing trend over the world. Here, we aimed to understand the combined effect of low salinity and sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) and florfenicol (FLO) antibiotics on L. vannamei. The growth performance, immune functions, antioxidant capacity and intestinal microbiota were investigated. Compared with the control group, the weight gain and survival rate significantly decreased (p < 0.05) in shrimp after they were exposed to low-salinity (salinity 3) water and the mixture of antibiotics and low-salt conditions for 28 days. The antioxidant activities of SOD and T-AOC, shown at low salinity and in the higher concentration of the SMZ treatment group (SMZH), were significantly decreased, while the GST activity was significantly increased in each treatment group in comparison with the control group. The expression of immune-related genes, including TOLL, LvIMD, PPO and HSP, in the low concentration of the SMZ treatment group (SMZL) was higher than that in the other groups. The diversity of intestine microbiota was disturbed with a lower Shannon index in the low-salinity and SMZH groups, and a higher Simpson index in the SMZH group. Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes were the dominant phyla in the gut of L. vannamei. At the genus level, Microbacterium, Shewanella, Aeromonas, Acinetobacter, Gemmobacter, Paracoccus and Lysobacter were significantly decreased in the low-salinity group. However, the abundance of opportunistic pathogens belonging to the genus Aeromonas in the FLO group was increased. The predicted microbe-mediated functions showed that the pathway for “amino acid metabolism” and “replication and repair” was significantly inhibited in both the low-salinity and antibiotic-exposed groups. All the findings in this study indicate that the combined effect of antibiotics and low salinity on L. vannamei negatively impacted the physiological and intestinal microbiota functions.

Abstract
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) originating from a post-transcriptional modification process called back-splicing. Despite circRNAs being traditionally considered by-products rather than independently functional, circRNAs play many vital roles, such as in host immunity during viral infection. However, in shrimp, these remain largely unexplored. Therefore, this study aims to identify circRNAs in Litopenaeus vannamei in the context of WSSV infection, one of the most eradicative pathogens threatening shrimp populations worldwide. We identified 290 differentially expressed circRNAs (DECs) in L. vannamei upon WSSV infection. Eight DECs were expressed from their parental genes, including alpha-1-inhibitor-3, calpain-B, integrin-V, hemicentin-2, hemocytin, mucin-17, proPO2, and rab11-FIP4. These were examined quantitatively by qRT-PCR, which revealed the relevant expression profiles to those obtained from circRNA-Seq. Furthermore, the structural and chemical validation of the DECs conformed to the characteristics of circRNAs. One of the functional properties of circRNAs as a miRNA sponge was examined via the interaction network between DECs and WSSV-responsive miRNAs, which highlighted the targets of miRNA sponges. Our discovery could provide insight into the participation of these ncRNAs in shrimp antiviral responses.

Abstract
L-tryptophan (L-TRP) is an essential amino acid for the normal growth of crustaceans. As a nutritional supplement and antioxidant, L-TRP has the function of immune and antioxidant capacity regulation. From July to November, the effects of L-TRP on the immunity, antioxidant capacity and intestinal microflora of the Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) in pond culture were investigated. After feeding an L-TRP diet for 30 (named as August), 60 (named as September) and 106 (named as November) days, respectively, the activities of the immune and antioxidant enzymes in the hepatopancreas and hemolymph were evaluated, and the intestinal microbiota were profiled via high-throughput Illumina sequencing. The results showed that supplementation of L-TRP significantly increased the activities of AKP in the hepatopancreas in September, and significantly increased the activities of ACP in the hepatopancreas in August and September, and the hemolymph’s ACP activities also significantly increased in August and November (p < 0.05). Similarly, the activities of SOD, AOC and POD in the hepatopancreas significantly increased in September and November (p < 0.05) after feeding the L-TRP diet; meanwhile, the activities of SOD and AOC in the hemolymph also significantly increased in August (p < 0.05). However, in August, the L-TRP diet resulted in a significant increase in MDA activity in the hepatopancreas and hemolymph (p < 0.05). In addition, the results of the intestinal microbiota analysis showed that Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria were the dominant phyla in August, September and November, and Patescibacteria was the dominant phylum in September and November. After feeding the L-TRP diet, the richness of Cyanobacteria and Desulfobacterota significantly increased in August (p < 0.05), and the richness of Actinobacteriota significantly decreased in September (p < 0.05). Moreover, the L-TRP supplementation significantly reduced the abundance of ZOR0006 in the Firmicutes in September (p < 0.05). In conclusion, dietary L-TRP could improve the immunity and antioxidant ability and impact the intestinal health of E. sinensis at the early stage of pond culturing. However, long-term feeding of an L-TRP diet might have no positive impact on the activities of the immune, antioxidant enzymes and intestinal microbiota.

Abstract
PirAB toxins secreted by Vibrio parahaemolyticus (Vp) harbor the pVA1 virulence plasmid, which causes acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), an emerging disease in Penaeid shrimp that can cause 70–100% mortality and that has resulted in great economic losses since its first appearance. The cytotoxic effect of PirABVp on the epithelial cells of the shrimp hepatopancreas (Hp) has been extensively documented. New insights into the biological role of the PirBVp subunit show that it has lectin-like activity and recognizes mucin-like O-glycosidic structures in the shrimp Hp. The search for toxin receptors can lead to a better understanding of the infection mechanisms of the pathogen and the prevention of the host disease by blocking toxin–receptor interactions using a mimetic antagonist. There is also evidence that Vp AHPND changes the community structure of the microbiota in the surrounding water, resulting in a significant reduction of several bacterial taxa, especially Neptuniibacter spp. Considering these findings, the PirABvp toxin could exhibit a dual role of damaging the shrimp Hp while killing the surrounding bacteria.

Abstract
In recent years, the shrimp farming industry encountered significant economic losses induced by Vibrio alginolyticus. In this study, the influence of Vibrio alginolyticus on intestinal histomorphology and microbiome composition in Litopenaeus vannamei were studied. The results showed that the intestinal mucosal epithelial cells of Vibrio group (VA group) injected only with Vibrio alginolyticus showed large area exfoliation at 12 h, and the tissue morphology of intestine recovered at 48 h. Compared with the control group (CK group), the abundance of Proteobacteria was significantly higher (P < 0.05), while the abundance of Actinobacteria was significantly lower after infection with Vibrio alginolyticus. The abundance of Shewanella in intestinal microbiome of Litopenaeus vannamei was significantly higher at 12 h (P < 0.05), but the abundance of Candidatus_Bacilloplasma was significantly lower at 48 h after infection (P < 0.05). In VA group, the diversity of intestinal microbiome was significantly lower at 12 h, which could be caused by the proliferation of Candidatus_Bacilloplasma and Shewanella. All above findings suggested that the stability of the dynamic balance of microbiome in the intestine helped Litopenaeus vannamei to resist pathogen colonization.

Abstract
This study was conducted to enhance the viability and alleviate the oxidative stress response using MO for sea bass during live transport. Six experimental groups were designed, and the effects of the physiological responses of MO were evaluated in comparison with MS-222 and eugenol. The physiological stress levels, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK-9), antioxidant enzyme activities, and kidney parameters of blood serum were determined. It was found that cortisol level, glucose (Glu), lactic acid (LD), heat shock proteins (HSPs), catalase (CAT), myeloperoxidase (MPO), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), uric acid (UA), and urea nitrogen (BUN) in the MO-treated samples were lower than that of the control (133.72 ng/L); however, the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) was higher after 72 h of the simulated live transport. The ability to resist oxidative stress increased along with the increase in the MO concentration in the water during live transport, which was similar to the results of MS-222 and eugenol treatment. In conclusion, MO, acting as a kind of novel sedative and anesthetic, can be used to improve the oxidative system and survival rate during live transport. The results of this study provide a reference for enhancing animal welfare and anti-oxidative stress ability, reducing mortality and the stress response during live fish transport.

Abstract
Smad3 is a key mediator of the canonical TGF-β signaling pathway and plays an important role in TGF-β1-mediated transcriptional regulation. However, the function of Smad3 in crustaceans such as shrimp, is still poorly understood and needs to be further explored. We characterized Litopenaeus vannamei Smad3 (LvSmad3) and its biological functions were investigated in response low temperature stress. Full-length LvSmad3 cDNA was 2341bp and contained an open reading frame (ORF) of 1326 bp that encoded a 441 amino acid long protein, with a predicted molecular mass of 48.35 kDa. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that LvSmad3 has a high degree of similarity with other known species. LvSmad3 mRNA was detected in all the tested tissues and highest transcription occurred mostly in gills. Further research showed that suppressing the expression of Smad3 could reduce ROS production, DNA damage and the apoptosis rate in shrimp hemocyte under low temperature compared with the dsGFP group. Thus, we speculated that Smad3 could promote the apoptosis of hemocytes. We confirmed that Smad3 could inhibit apoptosis in the hepatopancreas by suppressing the expression of pro-apoptotic genes. Taken together, the silencing of Smad3 can reduce ROS production induced by low temperature stress, weaken the damage to hemocytes and the hepatopancreas by inhibit the apoptosis.

Abstract
MicroRNAs could not only regulate posttranscriptional silencing of target genes in eukaryotic organisms, but also have positive effect on their target genes as well. These microRNAs have been reported to be involved in mucosal immune responses to pathogen infection in teleost. Therefore, we constructed the immune-related miRNA-mRNA networks in turbot intestine following Vibrio anguillarum infection. In our results, 1550 differentially expressed (DE) genes and 167 DE miRNAs were identified. 113 DE miRNAs targeting 89 DE mRNAs related to immune response were used to construct miRNA-mRNA interaction networks. Functional analysis showed that target genes were associated with synthesis and degradation of ketone bodies, mucin type O-Glycan biosynthesis, homologous recombination, biotin metabolism, and intestinal immune network for IgA production that were equivalent to the function of IgT and IgM in fish intestine. Finally, 10 DE miRNAs and 7 DE mRNAs were selected for validating the accuracy of high-throughput sequencing results by qRT-PCR. The results of this study will provide valuable information for the elucidation of the regulation mechanisms of miRNA-mRNA interactions involved in disease resistance in teleost mucosal immune system.

Combined stress of acute cold exposure and waterless duration at low temperature induces mortality of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei through injuring antioxidative and immunological response in hepatopancreas tissue. Abstract
High mortality is a frequent occurrence during live transport of shrimp species and the biochemical mechanism remains unknown. This study aimed to explore the influence of combined stress of acute cold exposure (AC) and waterless duration (WD) on survivability and biochemical response of shrimp L. vannamei during live transport. The shrimps in NC and AC groups remained the total survivability throughout the experiment while the shrimps exposed to AC + WD stress exhibited significantly higher mortality since 6h afterwards (P < 0.05) and the median survival time was calculated at 10.46 h. Moreover, the typical combined stress points at AC + WD3h, AC + WD6h and AC + WD9h were assigned for exploring the immunological and antioxidative responses. For immunity response, the total hemocyte counts (THC) decreased with the prolongation of duration time and the activities of non-specific immunity enzymes such as phenol oxidase (PO), acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) were significantly elevated in AC + WD9h groups (P < 0.05). Moreover, compared with that in NC group, the significant accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was observed in AC group and then reduced in combined stress groups (P < 0.05), with the highest level of malonaldehyde (MDA) in AC and AC + WD3h groups. Overall, the significant elevation of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) was detected in AC + WD9h group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the accumulative pathological impairment on hepatopancreas tissue revealed the cytoskeleton degradation. In addition, correlation analyses visualized the correlation between oxidative stress and biochemical response. This study not only deepens our understanding on the biochemical mechanism of shrimp mortality induced by combined stress, but also provides a potential strategy for improving the management of L. vannamei during live transport.

Abstract
The effects of microplastics (MPs) on aquaculture animals have raised increasing concern, but studies on MPs contamination in cultured shrimp are still limited. Therefore, the responses of three widely farmed shrimp species to MPs, including Penaeus monodon (P. monodon), Marsupenaeus japonicas (M. japonicus) and Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei), were investigated in this study. The results showed that the mortality of P. monodon, M. japonicus and L. vannamei were 47%, 53% and 20% respectively after 48 h of 300 mg/L MPs exposure. After 48 h of 100 mg/L MPs exposure, for P. monodon, the MPs content in water and excreta were significantly different from that in M. japonicus and L. vannamei. For genes expressions, the expression of catalase (Cat) was significantly increased and the expression of apoptosis protein (IAP) was inhibited in these three shrimps, but only the expression of Lysozyme (Lys) was increased in L. vannamei after MPs exposure. After 48 h of depuration, the Cat and IAP expression of P. monodon and M. japonicus was significant decreased while the IAP and Lys expression of L. vannamei still maintained at a high level. The results suggested that the metabolic rate of MPs in P. monodon was significantly higher than that in M. japonicus and L. vannamei. The tolerance of L. vannamei to MPs was higher than that of P. monodon and M. japonicas and their different responses in anti-microbial gene might be one of the reasons for the difference of their mortality. This study provides the first report comparing the organism response distinction in cultured shrimp and enriching to the understanding of the impact of MPs on ecosystem.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) are a new type of environmental pollutant. To investigate the response of shrimp and their microflora to MPs, Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei) was exposed to different concentrations of MPs (0, 50, 500, and 5000 μg/L, i.e., C, L, M and H groups) for 48 h. The survival rate, intake of MPs, immune-related gene expression and microbial response under MP exposure were detected. The results showed that the survival rate in the H group was significantly lower than those in the C, L and M groups, while the relative expression levels of proPO, TLR and ALF in the M and H groups were significantly higher than those in the C and L groups. For the microbial response, microbial community richness in the L group was significantly decreased, while community richness and diversity in the H group were significantly increased compared with those in the C group. The relative abundances of 3, 4 and 11 taxa were significantly changed after MP treatment at the phylum, class and genus levels, respectively. The results suggested that short-term exposure to low concentrations of MPs did not cause immune defense responses or death but affected the balance of bacterial composition in shrimp. Exposure to high concentrations of MPs can induce immune responses and microbial changes and can even cause death in shrimp. These findings increase our understanding of MP impacts on aquatic organisms.

Abstract
To investigate shrimp immunoregulation and tissue self-repair mechanism during temperature fluctuation stage, Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei) was treated under conditions of gradual cooling from an acclimation temperature (28 °C, C group) to 13 °C (T group) in 2 days with a cooling rate of 7.5 °C/d and then rewarmed to 28 °C (R group) with the same rate. Tandem mass tags (TMT) -based proteomics technology was used to investigate the protein abundance changes of intestine in L. vannamei during temperature fluctuation. The results showed that a total of 5796 proteins with function annotation were identified. Of which, the abundances of 1978 proteins (34%) decreased after cooling and then increased after rewarming, 1498 proteins (26%) increased during the whole stage, 1263 proteins (22%) increased after cooling and then decreased after rewarming and 1057 proteins (18%) decreased during the whole stage. Differentially expressed proteins such as C-lectin, NFκBIA and Caspase may contributed to the regulation of immunity and tissue repair of shrimp intestine during the temperature fluctuation stage. These findings contribute to the better understanding of shrimp' regulatory mechanism against adverse environment.
