Abstract
Accurately predicting freeway accident severity is crucial for accident prevention, road safety, and emergency rescue services in intelligent freeway systems. However, current research lacks the required precision, hindering the effective implementation of freeway rescue. In this paper, we efficiently address this challenge by categorizing influencing factors into two levels: human and non-human, further subdivided into 6 and 36 categories, respectively. Furthermore, based on the above factors, an efficient and accurate Freeway Accident Severity Prediction (FASP) method is developed by using the two-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The factor and evaluation sets are determined by calculating the fuzzy evaluation matrix of a single factor. The weight matrix is calculated through the entropy method to compute the final evaluation matrix. Based on the maximum membership principle, the severity of the freeway accident is predicted. Finally, based on the experiments conducted with the traffic accident datasets in China and the US, it is shown that FASP is able to accurately predict the severity of freeway traffic accidents with thorough considerations and low computational cost. It is noted that FASP is the first attempt to achieve freeway accident severity prediction using the two-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to the best of our knowledge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Transport injuries (TI) remains one of leading causes of death in children in China. This study aimed to analyze the temporal trend of disease burden and associated risk factors of TI among children aged 0-14 years in China, utilizing data from 1990 to 2019. METHODS We retrieved data of disease burden and risk factors of TI among children aged 0-14 year in China from 1990 to 2019 from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) dataset. We estimated incidence rate, death rate, and disability adjusted life years (DALYs) rate with a 95% uncertainty interval (95% UI), stratified by age, sex, and all type-road users. Trends in disease burden with annual percentage changes (APC) and average annual percent change (AAPC) were performed by Joinpoint regression model. RESULTS The incidence rate (AAPC = 1.18%, P < 0.001) of TI among children aged 0-14 years showed an increasing trend, whereas mortality rate (AAPC = -3.87%, P < 0.001) and DALYs rate (AAPC = -3.83%, P < 0.001) decreased annually. Notably, boys experienced a higher increase in incidence (1.30%) compared to girls (1.06%), but a faster decrease in mortality and DALYs rate (-3.90% vs. -3.82%, -3.88% vs. -3.79%, respectively) (Pall < 0.001). Declines in death rates and DALYs rates were observed across all age groups (Pall < 0.001), while remained the highest among children aged 0-4 in 2019. Among different road-type users, cyclist road injuries were identified as the primary cause of TI (182.3 cases per 100,000) while pedestrians were the group with the highest mortality (2.9 cases per 100,000) and DALYs rate (243 cases per 100,000) in 2019. Besides, alcohol use was a significant risk factors for TI, while low temperature appeared to be a protective factor. CONCLUSION Future efforts must prioritize raising awareness among children and their guardians to mitigate the disease burden of TI in children. It's critical to enhance preventive interventions for boys, children aged 0-4 and vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists in future.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION There are many migrant workers in China's first-tier cities, but little is known about road safety. This paper systematically analysed road traffic injuries and risk factors among migrant workers in Guangzhou, China. METHODS Road traffic crash data from 2017 to 2021 were obtained from the Guangzhou Public Security Traffic Management Integrated System. We plotted the crash network of road users in road traffic crashes and used logistic regression to analyse the risk factors for migrant workers of motorcycle and four-wheeled vehicle crashes. Moreover, the roles of migrant workers and control individuals as perpetrators in road traffic crashes were also analysed. RESULTS Between 2017 and 2021, 76% of road traffic injuries were migrant workers in Guangzhou. Migrant workers who were motorcyclist drivers most commonly experienced road traffic injuries. Crashes between motorcyclists and car occupants were the most common. The illegal behaviours of migrant worker motorcyclists were closely related to casualties, with driving without a licence only and driving without a licence and drunk driving accounting for the greatest number. Migrant workers were responsible for many injuries of other road users. Motorcycle drivers have a higher proportion of drunk driving. DISCUSSION Migrant workers play an important role in road traffic safety. They were both the leading source of road traffic injuries and the main perpetrators of road traffic crashes. Measures such as strict requirements for migrant workers to drive motorcycles with licences, prohibit drunk driving, greater publicity of road safety regulations, and combining compulsory education with punishment for illegal behaviours.

Abstract
PURPOSE This investigation aimed to understand the epidemiological characteristics and hospitalization burden and its possible influencing factors of patients with different injury mechanisms. METHODS All trauma patients admitted via the emergency department at a trauma center from November 1, 2020, to April 30, 2022, were identified. The hospitalization burden, including the number of hospitalizations, deaths and in-hospital mortality, length of stay (LOS), and medical costs, was calculated. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the factors influencing the hospitalization burden of trauma. The receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn to evaluate the predictive value of the multivariate model. RESULTS 16 485 trauma patients with 16 552 hospitalizations were included, with an in-hospital mortality rate of 1.269‰, median LOS of 7 days, and median hospitalization costs of 54 725.28 CNY. The median age was 52 years. 62.54% were hospitalized due to falls. The upper and lower extremities were the most common injury regions. There are differences between the demographic, injury, and hospitalization characteristics and factors influencing hospitalization burden across injury mechanisms, but there were also common influencing factors. Injury region, surgery, transfusion, and ICU treatment are influential factors for prolonged LOS. Age, injury region, surgery, and transfusion were influential factors for high hospitalization costs. CONCLUSIONS This study provided primary evidence on the hospitalization burden of trauma. Considering demographics, injury and hospitalization characteristics as additional discriminators could further intervene in LOS and medical costs. Targeted efforts to use more early prevention measures could potentially lower future hospitalization burden.

Abstract
Introduction This study aims to analyze the potential impact of the meteorological environment and air pollutants on road traffic fatalities. Methods Road traffic fatality data in Shandong Province from 2012 to 2021 were obtained from the Population Death Information Registration Management System. Meteorological and air pollutant data for the same period were collected from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Ecological Environment Monitoring Center of Shandong Province, China. Pearson's correlation and ridge regression were used to analyze the impact of the meteorological environment and air pollutants on road traffic fatalities. Results From 2012 to 2021, there were 163,863 road traffic fatality cases. The results of the ridge regression analysis showed that the daily average temperature was negatively correlated with total fatalities and passengers and positively correlated with pedestrians, nonmotorized drivers, and motorized drivers. The daily minimum temperature was negatively correlated with total fatalities and positively correlated with motorized drivers. The daily maximum temperature was positively correlated with both pedestrian and nonmotorized drivers. The daily accumulated precipitation was negatively correlated with pedestrians. Sunshine duration was positively correlated with both nonmotorized and motorized drivers. Inhalable particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) were positively correlated with total fatalities, pedestrians, and nonmotorized drivers. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) was positively correlated with total fatalities but negatively correlated with nonmotorized drivers, passengers, and motorized drivers. Conclusions Atmospheric factors associated with the occurrence of road traffic fatalities include air temperature, daily accumulated precipitation, sunshine duration, and air pollutants such as PM10, NO2, and SO2.

Abstract
Transportation-related harms have developed into a social disease, threatening public safety and health in China. We aimed to increase the global understanding of traffic safety and public health in China from past knowledge, current status, and future directions by collecting, collating, and analyzing the Chinese traffic incidents reported in the published literature. A systematic search of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Weipu, and published articles referenced in PubMed, Web of Science and ProQuest between January 1, 1988 and April 30, 2023 was performed. China encountered the first recorded traffic accident as early as three thousand years ago in the Shang Dynasty. An increase in vehicle capacity and velocity increased the traffic risks during the transition from rickshaws and livestock to motor vehicles in varying traffic environments. Humans are not only the decisive factor of a large number of vehicles, traffic routes, and environmental variables, but also the victims at the end and starting point of traffic accidents. Injuries (mechanical force, burns) and diseases (traffic-related air pollution, noise) caused by traffic activities not only threaten public health, but also cause risks to safe driving. Analysis of traffic activities and biomarkers promotes the treatment of traffic injuries in ethology and medicine. China prepared for the construction of healthy transportation in the "decade of road safety" toward an estimation of worldwide road traffic injuries in 2030. Improvement of traffic safety concerning public health under the "Outline of the National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning" in China will propel the realization of worldwide traffic environmental advancement.
