Abstract
A novel Lentinus edodes mycelia polysaccharide (LMP) prepared in our laboratory has been identified to be effective in inhibiting the damage of islet β cells induced by glucose toxicity. However, whether it can effectively alleviate the pyroptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) induced by advanced glycation end products (AGEs) remains unclear. Bioinformatics and cell biology techniques were used to explore the mechanism of LMP inhibiting AGEs-induced HUVECs damage. The results indicated that AGEs significantly increased the expression of LncRNA MALAT1, decreased cell viability to 79.67 %, increased intracellular ROS level to 248.19 % compared with the control group, which further led to cell membrane rupture. The release of LDH in cellular supernatant was increased to 149.42 %, and the rate of propidium iodide staining positive cells increased to 277.19 %, indicating the cell pyroptosis occurred. However, the above trend was effectively retrieved after the treatment with LMP. LMP effectively decreased the expression of LncRNA MALAT1 and mTOR, promoted the expression of miR-199b, inhibited AGEs-induced HUVECs pyroptosis by regulating the NLRP3/Caspase-1/GSDMD pathway. LncRNA MALAT1 might be a new target for LMP to inhibit AGEs-induced HUVECs pyroptosis. This study manifested the role of LMP in improving diabetes angiopathy and broadens the application of polysaccharide.

Abstract
Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) method proves to be more effective compared to traditional extraction methods. In the present study, response surface methodology (RSM) was used to determine the optimal process parameters for extracting polysaccharides (U-MCP) from jaboticaba fruit using UAE. The optimum extraction conditions were ultrasonic time 70 min, extraction temperature 60 °C, and power 350 W. Under these conditions, the sugar content of U-MCP was 52.8 %. The molecular weights of the ultrasound-assisted extracted U-MCP ranged from 9.52×102 to 3.27×103 Da, and consisted of five monosaccharides including mannose, galacturonic acid, glucose, galactose, and arabinose. Moreover, in vitro antioxidant and hypoglycaemic assay revealed that U-MCP has prominent anti-oxidant activities (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) radicals, hydroxyl radicals and 2,2'-Azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic Acid Ammonium Salt) (ABTS) radicals scavenging activities) and hypoglycemic activities (α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition activities).

Abstract
In this study, a novel polysaccharide, AAP-2S, was extracted from Auricularia auricula, and the anti-glycosylation effect of AAP-2S and its underlying mechanisms were investigated using an in vitro BSA-fructose model and a cellular model. The results demonstrated the inhibiting formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in vitro by AAP-2S. Concurrently, it attenuated oxidative damage to proteins in the model, preserved protein sulfhydryl groups from oxidation, reduced protein carbonylation, prevented structural alterations in proteins, and decreased the formation of β-crosslinked structures. Furthermore, AAP-2S demonstrated metal-chelating capabilities. GC-MS/MS-based metabolomics were employed to analyze changes in metabolic profiles induced by AAP-2S in a CML-induced HK-2 cell model. Mechanistic investigations revealed that AAP-2S could mitigate glycosylation and ameliorate cell fibrosis by modulating the RAGE/TGF-β/NOX4 pathway. This study provides a foundational framework for further exploration of Auricularia auricular polysaccharide as a natural anti-AGEs agent, paving the way for its potential development and application as a food additive.

Abstract
The daylily (Hemerocallis citrina Baroni) flower is a traditional raw food material that is rich in a variety of nutrients. In particular, the content of polysaccharides in daylily is abundant and has been widely used as a functional component in food, cosmetics, medicine, and other industries. However, studies on the structure-effective relationship of daylily flower polysaccharides are still lacking. In view of this, daylily flower polysaccharides were isolated and purified, and their physical and chemical properties, structure, antioxidant activity, and adhesion-promoting effect on probiotics were evaluated. The results showed that a novel water-soluble polysaccharide (DPW) with an average molecular weight (Mw) of 2.224 kDa could be successfully isolated using column chromatography. Monosaccharide composition analysis showed that DPW only comprised glucose and fructose, with a molar ratio of 0.242:0.758. Through methylation and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis, it was inferred that DPW belonged to the fructans group with a structure of α-D-Glcp-1→2-β-D-Fruf-1→(2-β-D-Fruf-1)n→. Antioxidant analysis showed that DPW showed strong 2-Phenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-Oxide (PTIO-scavenging activity with IC50 of 1.54 mg/mL. DPW of 1.25 to 5 mg/mL could significantly increase the adhesion rate of Lactobacillus acidophilu, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium adolescentis, and Lactobacillus plantarum on Caco-2 cells. Considering the above results, the present study provides a theoretical basis and practical support for the development and application of daylily polysaccharides as a functional active ingredient.

Abstract
Seven kinds of selenium nanoparticles (RP-SeNPs) were prepared by using the polysaccharides extracted from Ribes nigrum L. (RP) as the stabilizer and dispersant. Among them, RP-SeNPs-1 (94.2 nm), RP-SeNPs-2 (101.2 nm) and RP-SeNPs-3 (107.6 nm) with relatively smaller mean particle size exhibited stronger α-glucosidase inhibitory activity than other RP-SeNPs (115.3-164.2 nm) and SeNPs (288.9 nm). Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, Fourier transform-infrared, X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses confirmed that SeNPs were ligated with RP to form nanocomposites and displayed amorphous form. Electron microscopy images revealed that RP-SeNPs-1 - RP-SeNPs-3 were regular shape spherical nanocomposites with much better dispersion than SeNPs. Compared with SeNPs, RP-SeNPs displayed relatively high thermal, storage, pH and salt ion stability. Moreover, RP-SeNPs-1-RP-SeNPs-3 showed significantly better anti-glycation and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity than SeNPs, especially RP-SeNPs-1 with the smallest particle size. Inhibitory kinetics analysis indicated that SeNPs and RP-SeNPs inhibited α-glucosidase with competitive type and reversible mechanism. In addition, the conformation of the α-glucosidase was changed after binding with the SeNPs and RP-SeNPs-1. Fluorescence quenching and isothermal titration calorimetry assays revealed that these two nanoparticles could interact with α-glucosidase to form non-fluorescent complexes through hydrogen bonding, and the formation was spontaneously driven by enthalpy.

Abstract
Diabetes is one of the most significant causes of death all over the world. This illness, due to abnormal blood glucose levels, leads to impaired wound healing and, as a result, foot ulcers. These ulcers cannot heal quickly in diabetic patients and may finally result in amputation. In recent years, different research has been conducted to heal diabetic foot ulcers: one of them is using cold atmospheric pressure plasma. Nowadays, cold atmospheric pressure plasma is highly regarded in medicine because of its positive effects and lack of side effects. These conditions have caused plasma to be considered a promising technology in medicine and especially diabetic wound healing because studies show that it can heal chronic wounds that are resistant to standard treatments. The positive effects of plasma are due to different reactive species, UV radiation, and electromagnetic fields. This work reviews ongoing cold atmospheric pressure plasma improvements in diabetic wound healing. It shows that plasma can be a promising tool in treating chronic wounds, including ones resulting from diabetes.

Abstract
The study aimed to improve the extraction rate of Platycodon grandiflorum roots polysaccharides (PGPs) using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE). A comparative analysis was undertaken to evaluate polysaccharides content, molecular weight distribution, monosaccharide composition, preliminary structure, antioxidant, and hypoglycemic activity of UAE in comparison with heating water extraction (HWE). The optimum extraction conditions included a liquid-to-material ratio of 20 mL/g, ultrasonic power of 150 W, extraction temperature of 70 ℃, and extraction time of 20 min, resulting in a significantly greater polysaccharides (12.011 ± 0.91 %) compared to HWE (7.62 ± 0.18 %). Through Sephacryl S-100 column elution, two homogenous fraction (PGP-U extracted with UAE and PGP-H extracted with HAE) were obtained. The molecular weight of PGP-U and PGP-H was 3.14 kDa and 3.44 kDa, respectively, mainly composed of different proportions of fourteen monosaccharides. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectra experiment results showed that the two polysaccharides were pyranose ring with α- and β-glycoside bond. PGP-U and PGP-H exhibited specific antioxidant activities, encompassing total reducing force, scavenging of DPPH radicals, ABTs radicals and hydroxyl radicals in vitro, along with mitigation of H2O2-induced damage in HepG2 cells. Moreover, PGP-U exerted significantly stronger inhibitory activities against α-amylase and α-glucosidase and could significantly enhances the glucose uptake capacity and intracellular glycogen content of insulin-resistant HepG2 (IR-HepG2) cells.

Abstract
Walnuts are one of the world's most important nut species and are popular for their high nutritional value, but the processing of walnuts produces numerous by-products. Among them, Diaphragma Juglandis Fructus has attracted the attention of researchers due to its complex chemical composition and diverse bioactivities. However, comprehensive reviews of extract activity and mechanistic studies, chemical composition functionality, and product types are scarce. Therefore, the aim of this review is to analyze the extracts, chemical composition, and product development of Diaphragma Juglandis Fructus. Conclusions: For extracts, the biological activities of aqueous and ethanol extracts have been studied more extensively than those of methanol extracts, but almost all of the studies have been based on crude extracts, with fewer explorations of their mechanisms. For chemical composition, the bioactivities of polyphenols and polysaccharides were more intensively studied, while other chemical constituents were at the stage of content determination. For product development, walnuts are mainly used in food and medicine, but the product range is limited. In the future, research on the bioactivity and related mechanisms of Diaphragma Juglandis Fructus can be further expanded to improve its value as a potential natural plant resource applied in multiple industries.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE In traditional Uyghur medicine, diaphragma juglandis fructus (DJF) has been conventionally used in treating insomnia and nourishing the kidneys. According to traditional Chinese medicine, DJF can boosts kidney and astringent essence, strengthen the spleen and kidney, exert diuretic effect, clear heat, stop eructation, and treat vomiting. AIM OF THE REVIEW Research on DJF has increased gradually in recent years, but reviews of its traditional uses, chemical composition, and pharmacological activities are scarce. The purpose of this review is to analyze the traditional uses, chemical composition, and pharmacological activities of DJF and provide an overview of the findings for further research and development of DJF resources. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data on DJF were obtained from different databases, including Scifinder, PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Springer, Wiley, ACS, CNKI, Baidu Scholar, and Google Scholar; books; and Ph.D. and MSc theses. RESULTS According to traditional Chinese medicine, DJF has astringent properties, inhibits bleeding and banding, strengthens the spleen and kidneys, acts as a sleeping aid by reducing anxiety, and relieves dysentery due to heat exposure. The components of DJF include flavonoids, phenolic acids, quinones, steroids, lignans, and volatile oils, which exhibit good antioxidant, antitumor, antidiabetic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and sedative-hypnotic properties, and present therapeutic potential for kidney diseases. CONCLUSIONS Based on its traditional use, chemical composition, and pharmacological activities, DJF is a promising source of natural medicine in the development of functional foods, drugs, and cosmetics.

Abstract
SGGY, an antioxidant tetrapeptide identified from walnut protein hydrolysate in our previous study, has been suggested to possess the potential to alleviate oxidative stress in cells. In this paper, the neuroprotective effects of SGGY on H2O2-stimulated oxidative stress in SH-SY5Y cells and the underlying mechanisms were investigated. Results showed that SGGY alleviated H2O2-induced oxidative stress by decreasing the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and altering the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), thereby inhibiting apoptosis and increasing cell viability. SGGY significantly restored antioxidant enzyme activities and reduced malondialdehyde (MDA) content accordingly. Moreover, SGGY promoted the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and suppressed the H2O2-induced activation of JNK and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). Taken together, these results suggested that SGGY protected SH-SY5Y cells from H2O2-provoked oxidative stress by enhancing the ability of cellular antioxidant defense, and the possible mechanism involved MAPKs and Nrf2 signaling pathways.

Abstract
In the last few decades, scientific evidence has stressed the importance of plants in the prevention and/or supportive treatment of a plethora of diseases, many of them chronic, age-associated disorders. Juglans regia L. is a traditional plant that has been integrated into traditional medicine since ancient times. Due to the presence of biologically active compounds, walnut was used in the treatment of various maladies. Recently, investigations have focused on the walnut by-products and waste products, with research on their valuable constituents and active properties. Among these secondary products, walnut septum was analyzed in several studies, its phytochemical profile described, and some of the biological activities examined. However, compared to other walnut by-products, no comprehensive review to gather all the pertinent scientific knowledge was found in the literature. Therefore, the aim of this study was to critically assess the information furnished by peer-reviewed articles regarding the walnut septum chemical composition and the related biological activities, including antioxidant activities, anti-inflammatory effects, antimicrobial properties, antidiabetic activities, anti-tumor properties, and anti-aging potential. In conclusion, as these preclinical studies showed that walnut septum metabolites were responsible for a wide range of preventive and therapeutic uses, further research should confirm the beneficial outcomes in clinical trials.

Abstract
Non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs) have been reported to exert therapeutic potential on managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Various mechanisms have been proposed; however, several studies have not considered the correlations between the anti-T2DM activity of NSPs and their molecular structure. Moreover, the current understanding of the role of NSPs in T2DM treatment is mainly based on in vitro and in vivo data, and more human clinical trials are required to verify the actual efficacy in treating T2DM. The related anti-T2DM mechanisms of NSPs, including regulating insulin action, promoting glucose metabolism and regulating postprandial blood glucose level, anti-inflammatory and regulating gut microbiota (GM), are reviewed. The structure-function relationships are summarized, and the relationships between NSPs structure and anti-T2DM activity from clinical trials are highlighted. The development of anti-T2DM medication or dietary supplements of NSPs could be promoted with an in-depth understanding of the multiple regulatory effects in the treatment/intervention of T2DM.

Abstract
Size-exclusion chromatography, HR-ESI-MS and FT-IR of copra meal hydrolyzed by ManB-1601 showed the presence of oligosaccharides (CM-β-MOS) having a degree of polymerisation (DP) between 2 and 4. Thermal decomposition studies of the purified CM-β-MOS (DP 2, 3 and 4) showed mass loss at high temperatures (135.8 °C to 600 °C). DP2, DP3 and DP4 CM-β-MOS were adjudged as un-substituted Manβ-4Man, Manβ-4Manβ-4Man and Manβ-4Manβ-4Manβ-4Man, respectively, using NMR (1H and 13C) studies. During fermentation, purified CM-β-MOS supported the growth of Lactobacillus sp. and inhibited enteropathogens (Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella typhi). Acetate was the predominant short-chain fatty acid produced by Lactobacillus sp. RT-PCR studies of L. plantarum WCFS1 fed with CM-β-MOS showed up-regulation (up to 6.7-fold) of the cellobiose utilization operon (pts23C and pbg6) and oligo-sucrose utilization loci (pts1BCA and agl2). Biochemical (free amino groups, carbonyl and fructosamine content), fluorescence (AGEs-specific and intrinsic) and molecular docking studies suggested the anti-glycation potential of CM-β-MOS.

Abstract
The effect of multi-frequency ultrasonic extraction (MUE) on the yields, physicochemical properties, antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of polysaccharides (GPs) from different parts of ginseng were compared. Results demonstrated that yields of polysaccharides from different parts were found to vary significantly differences, in the order of roots (M-GRPs) > flowers (M-GFPs) > leaves (M-GLPs). Compared with heat reflux extraction, MUE not only increased the yield of GPs by up to 9.14%-210.87%, with higher uronic acid content (UAC: increased by 4.99%-53.48%), total phenolics content (TPC: increased by 7.60% to 42.61%), total flavonoids content (TFC: increased by 2.52%-5.45%), and lower molecular weight (Mw: reduced by 6.51%- 33.08%) and protein content (PC: reduced by 5.15%-8.95%), but also improved their functional properties and bioactivities. All six purified polysaccharides extracted by MUE were acidic pyran polysaccharide with different monosaccharide composition, possessed remarkable antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. Especially, M-GFP-1 exhibited the highest bioactivities, illustrated that the activities were highly correlated with UAC and TPC, Mw, and triple helical structure. These results indicate that MUE was an efficient technique for improving yields, physicochemical and functional properties and enhancing biological activities of polysaccharide.

Abstract
The present study discussed the optimization of the ultrasonic-assisted extraction of polysaccharides from daylily polysaccharides (DPs). The extracted crude polysaccharides were further separated and purified, and the antioxidant activities including 1,1-diphenyl-2-111 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, 2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonate) (ABTS) radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical scavenging, and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) activities of the obtained fractions were also evaluated. The results showed that the optimal ultrasonic-assisted extraction parameters with DPs yield of 15.25 ± 1.13% were water to powder ratio of 25 ml/g, extraction power of 694 W, extraction temperature of 71°C, extraction time of 38 min, and three times extraction. By DEAE Sepharose Fast Flow column, four water-soluble polysaccharide fractions (DP-1, DP-2, DP-3, and DP-4) were successfully obtained. Monosaccharide component analysis showed that the four obtained fractions were all hetero-polysaccharides that mainly contained rhamnose, arabinose, fructose, galactose, glucose, galacturonic acid, and glucuronic acid in different molar ratios. All the four DP fractions did show obvious antioxidant activities in vitro, and the DP-3 component had relatively high ABTS free radical scavenging activity. Overall, our research showed that DPs could provide cheap raw materials for the development of natural antioxidants in medicines, functional foods, and even cosmetics. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: This article deals with the optimization of the ultrasonic-assisted extraction of polysaccharides from daylily and its antioxidant activities. The results showed that the optimal ultrasonic-assisted extraction yield of DPs was 15.25 ± 1.13%. By DEAE Sepharose Fast Flow column, four water-soluble polysaccharide fractions were successfully obtained, and all the four DP fractions did show obvious antioxidant activities in vitro. Daylily polysaccharides could provide cheap raw materials for the development of natural antioxidants in medicines, functional foods, and even cosmetics.

Abstract
The role of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) is not limited to diabetes and diabetes-related complications. There are multiple modulators, including the receptor for advanced glycation end products, high mobility group box 1, glyoxalase 1, nuclear factor-kappa B, tumor necrosis factor-α, chronic unpredictable stress, reactive oxygen species, and inflammatory cytokines, which interact with AGE signaling and control diabetes, modulating these interacting modulators. The progression of diabetes, as well as related complications, can be controlled and treated. Natural products rich in bioactive constituents can interact with AGEs and their related mediators through various signaling cascades, thereby controlling and preventing the progression of diabetes. This review provides a deeper assessment of the signaling pathway, interactions between phytochemicals and AGEs, and its mediators, to develop a multifold therapeutic approach to prevent and treat diabetes and its related complications.

Abstract
Traditionally, walnuts have occupied an imperative position in the functional food market with consistently recognized nutritious and functional properties. In the past years, the lipid profile of walnuts has brought much scientific attention via linking a cascade of biological attributes and health-promoting effects. Over time, researchers have focused on diversified composition (polyphenols and vitamins) of different parts of walnut (flower, pellicle, and kernel) and emphasized their physiological significance. Consequently, a plethora of reports has emerged on the potential role of walnut consumption against a series of diseases including cancer, gut dysbiosis, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, we accumulated the updated data on composition and classification, extraction methods, and utilization of different parts of walnuts as well as associated beneficial effects under in vivo and clinical studies. Altogether, this review summarized the ameliorative effects of a walnut-enriched diet in chronic diseases which can be designated to the synergistic or individual effects of walnut components mainly through anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory role.

Abstract
Inhibition of α-glucosidase as well as non-enzymatic glycation is thought as an effective method for treating type-2 diabetes mellitus. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory potential and mechanism of 4-hexylresorcinol against α-glucosidase and non-enzymatic glycation by using multispectroscopic analyses and molecular docking. The results of enzyme kinetics showed that 4-hexylresorcinol reversibly inhibited α-glucosidase activity in a noncompetitive way. Fluorescence quenching then revealed that it increased the hydrophobicity of α-glucosidase and changed the conformation of the enzyme by forming the α-glucosidase-hexylresorcinol complex. Thermodynamic analysis and molecular docking further demonstrated that the inhibition of 4-hexylresorcinol on the α-glucosidase was mainly dependent on hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interaction. Moreover, the 4-hexylresorcinol moderately inhibited the formation of fructosamine, and strongly suppressed the generation of α-dicarbonyl compounds and advanced glycation end products (AGEs). The interaction between 4-hexylresorcinol and bovine serum albumin was mainly driven by hydrophobic interaction. This study showed a novel inhibitor of α-glucosidase as well as non-enzymatic glycation, and provided a drug candidate for the prevention and treatment of type-2 diabetes.

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder of the endocrine system affecting
people worldwide. It is a serious disorder that needs lifetime control which is mainly
treated by numerous chemical agents. Most of these chemical agents are associated with various
unpleasant adverse effects, as a result of which there is a growing interest towards the
alternative medicines which are found to be comparatively safer causing less adverse effects.
As there are many plant’s extracts which are evident to provide hypoglycemic effect, intensive
investigations are under progress to explore their advantageous effects on diabetic patients.
This article discusses some of these important plants that are either being used for diabetes
treatment or under investigation for future drug development.

Abstract
Polysaccharides from the pulps (CAP) and seeds (CAS) of Crataegus azarolus L. var. aronia were extracted by hot water method. Both polysaccharides were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Congo red test, FT-IR spectroscopy, and their antioxidant, α-amylase, antiacetylcholinesterase, and antibacterial activities were evaluated. CAP showed the highest total carbohydrate (82.35%) and uronic acid (29.39%) contents. The Congo red test revealed the lack of triple-helical conformation for both polysaccharides. The comparison of both infrared spectra indicated similar patterns with the presence of typical bands of polysaccharides. However, the microstructure of both samples indicated differences when analyzed by SEM. CAP displayed higher antioxidant, α-amylase, and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. Besides, CAP showed the strongest antimicrobial effects against seven microorganisms and, notably, the Gram-positive bacteria. Overall, the results suggest that polysaccharides from C. azarolus L. var. aronia may be considered as novel sources of antioxidants and recommended as enzyme inhibitory agents in food and pharmaceutical industries.

Abstract
Chitooligosaccharides (COS) have garnered great attention in the field of human healthcare. The prebiotic activities and antiglycation of COS were investigated using a combination of in vitro and in vivo studies. COS supplementation dramatically increased the levels of acetic acid, while reducing the concentrations of propionic and butyric acids. It also decreased the total bacterial population; however, it did not affect diversity and richness of the gut microbiota. In addition, COS modulated the gut microbiota composition by increasing Bacteroidetes, decreasing Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria, and lowering the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio. COS promoted the generation of beneficial Bacteroides and Faecalibacterium genera, while suppressing the pathogenic Klebsiella genus. The antiglycation activity of COS and acetic acid was dose-dependent. Furthermore, COS prevented the decrease of serum Nε-(carboxymethyl) lysine (CML) level caused by CML ingestion in a mouse model of diet-induced obesity. To improve host health, COS could be potential prebiotics in food products.

Abstract
Despite most studied activities of natural biophenols rely on antioxidant properties, little clues explored their key structural components with regard to opposing action on glycation-induced aggregation. Herein, human hemoglobin (hHb)/fructose system used to decipher if structural peculiarities of two biophenols "chlorogenic acid (CGA) and curcumin (CUR)" are effective toward AGEs-bridged aggregate formation. Suppression in amyloid cross-β formation was monitored by CD spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, ANS and AGE fluorescence. Reduction in molten globule structure of modified-Hb by CGA was corroborated with helix structure, thiol group and lysine residues content estimation for native, glycated and biophenols treated samples. ThT and Congo red assays showed the cross-β breaking properties of CGA. Molecular docking outcomes revealed the positioning of CGA/CUR is driven by "aromatic interactions" with Trp β1180 and Tyr α2540. These interactions are modulated by the structural constraints such as number of hydroxyl groups and their methylation status directing the biophenols to the amyloidogenic core. The results are applicable to formulation of small-molecule nutraceuticals for treatment of conformational diseases.

Abstract
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is known as the versatile tool in different biological, and medical applications. In this study, we investigated the effect of cold plasma on diabetes via in vitro and in vivo assessments. We performed the in vitro assay to evaluate the impact of CAP on glycated glutathione peroxidase (GPx) through enzyme activity measurement as a function index and far- and near-UV circular dichroism (CD) and fluorescence analysis as structure indices. The result of in vitro assessment showed that the exposure of glycated GPx to plasma causes a considerable increase in enzyme activity up to 30%. Also, the evaluation of far- and near-UV CD and fluorescence analysis indicated a modification in the protein structure. According to obtained result from in vitro assessment, in vivo assay evaluated the effect of CAP on diabetic mice through analyzing of blood glucose level (BGL), advanced glycation end products (AGEs), antioxidant activity, oxidative stress biomarkers such as malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), and oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL), and inflammation factors including tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). The result of in vivo experiment also showed a 20% increase in antioxidant activity. Also, the reduction in AGEs, oxidative stress biomarkers, and inflammatory cytokines concentrations was observed. The result of this study revealed that CAP could be useful in diabetes treatment and can be utilized as a complementary method for diabetes therapy.

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial, heterogeneous metabolic disorder, causing various health complications and economic issues, which apparently impacts the human's life. Currently, commercial diabetic drugs are clinically managed for diabetic treatment that has definite side effects. Dietary polysaccharides mainly derive from natural sources, including medicinal plants, grains, fruits, vegetables, edible mushroom, and medicinal foods, and possess anti-diabetic potential. Hence, this review summarizes the effects of dietary polysaccharides on diabetes and underlying molecular mechanisms related to inflammatory factors, oxidative stress, and diabetes in various animal models. The analysis of literature and appropriate data on anti-diabetic polysaccharide from electronic databases was conducted. In vivo and in vitro trials have revealed that treatment of these polysaccharides has hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects, which enhance pancreatic β-cell mass and alleviates β-cell dysfunction. It enhances insulin signaling pathways through insulin receptors and activates the PI3K/Akt pathway, and eventually modulates ERK/JNK/MAPK pathway. In conclusion, dietary polysaccharides can effectively ameliorate hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, low-grade inflammation, and oxidative stress in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and, thus, consumption of polysaccharides can be a valuable choice for diabetic control.

Abstract
Diaphragma juglandis fructus is the dry wooden diaphragm inside walnuts and a byproduct in food processing of walnut kernels. The purpose of our research is to enrich the information on compounds in Diaphragma juglandis fructus to further discover and exploit its potential nutritional value. In this study, new quali-quantitative analytical approaches were developed to identify and determine bioactive compounds in Diaphragma juglandis fructus. Two-hundred compounds, including hydrolyzable tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and quinones, were identified by UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS, more than 150 of which were first discovered in Diaphragma juglandis fructus. Among them, 21 major dietary polyphenols with health-promoting effects were successfully quantified using UHPLC-MS/MS, with total contents of 2.88-6.18 mg/g. This successful characterization and quantification of bioactive compounds in Diaphragma juglandis fructus gives a better understanding of its potential nutritional value and supports efficiently developing and reusing it instead of discarding it as agrofood waste.
