Abstract
Deep-eutectic solvents (DES) have emerged as promising candidates for preparing nanocomposites. In this study, a DES-based graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)/ZnO/Chitosan (Ch) nanocomposite was synthesized to remove malachite green (MG) dye from water. The DES was prepared by mixing and heating citric acid as a hydrogen bond acceptor and lactic acid as a hydrogen bond donor. This is the first report of the removal of MG using DES-based nanocomposites. Experiments on kinetics and isothermal adsorption were conducted to systematically explore the adsorption performances of nanocomposite toward dye. At 25 °C, the highest adsorption performance was obtained with alkaline media (>90 % removal). The greatest adsorption capacity (qm) was 59.52 mg g-1 at conditions (30 mg L-1 MG solution, pH 9, 3 mg nanocomposite per 10 mL of MG solution, 25 °C, 150 rpm, and 150 min) based on the calculation from the best-fitting isotherm model (Langmuir). The adsorption process was most appropriately kinetically described by the PSO model. The Monte Carlo (MC) and molecular dynamic (MC) results are correlated with experimental findings to validate the theoretical predictions and enhance the overall understanding of the adsorption process. Electronic structure calculations reveal the nature of interactions, including hydrogen bonding and electrostatic forces, between the nanocomposite and MG molecules.

Abstract
Cationic synthetic dyes are one of the hazards in aqueous solutions that can affect the health of humans and living organisms. In the current work, polyacrylamide (PAM)-g-gelatin hydrogel and modified PAM-g-gelatin hydrogel using activated carbon of Luffa cylindrica (ACL) and ACL/Mg-Fe LDH were applied to eliminate crystal violet (CV), a cationic dye, from water media. The hydrogels were synthesized using free radical polymerization approach, and the hydrogels were characterized using FTIR, XRD, TGA-DTG, BET, SEM, and EDX-Map. The surface area of ACL, ACL/Mg-Fe LDH, PAM-g-gelatin, PAM-g-gelatin/ACL, and PAM-g-gelatin/ACL/Mg-Fe LDH were 99.71, 141.99, 0.74, 1.47, and 1.65 m2/g, respectively, which shows that the presence of ACL and ACL/Mg-Fe LDH improved the area of the hydrogels. The maximum abatement of CV using PAM-g-gelatin (92.81%), PAM-g-gelatin/ACL (95.71%), and PAM-g-gelatin/ACL/Mg-Fe LDH (98.25%) was obtained at pH=9, temperature 25 °C, 10 mg/L CV, 60 min time, and adsorber dose of 2 g/L (for PAM-g-gelatin) and 1.5 g/L (other samples). The value of thermodynamic factors confirmed that the abatement process is exothermic and spontaneous. The kinetics data followed the pseudo-second kinetic (PSO) model. The Langmuir isotherm model had a more remarkable ability to describe the equilibrium data. The maximum adsorption capacity for PAM-g-gelatin, PAM-g-gelatin/ACL, and PAM-g-gelatin/ACL/Mg-Fe LDH was determined 35.45, 39.865, and 44.952 mg/g, respectively. Generally, the studied hydrogels can eliminate dyes from wastewater and be used as effective adsorbers.

Abstract
The pervasive application of pharmaceuticals in aquatic environments has acquired much focus owing to their nonbiodegradability and eco-toxicity, which might readily destroy the ecological balance. Developed chitosan-coated Fe-Cu CNS alginate-CMC beads (NBs) were utilized in this study to adsorb the quinolone antibiotic norfloxacin (NOR) from water for the first time. Under ideal conditions (CNOR: 20 mg L-1; sorbent conc.: 2000 mg L-1; sorbent dosage: 0.15 g; interaction time: 300 min; solution pH: 6.0), about 86% NOR removal was achieved through batch mode. The removal performance for NOR was examined concerning pH, ionic strength, and coexisting micropollutants. The greatest NOR removal was attained on NBs with the greatest Langmuir adsorption capacity of 355 mg g-1 due to numerous mechanisms such as sorbent pore filling, electrostatic attraction, π-π attraction and hydrogen bonding. Studies using environmentally significant algae, such as Scenedesmus sp., to analyze the residual toxicity of treated NOR solution revealed a significant reduction in their toxic effects. Current research has demonstrated that nanocomposite beads are an excellent wastewater treatment material with promising industrial applications due to their ease of synthesis, exceptional surface adsorption properties, stability, and environmentally friendly reaction.

Abstract
Due to the expansion of industrial activities, the concentration of dyes in water has been increasing. The dire need to remove these pollutants from water has been heavily discussed. This study focuses on the reproducible and sustainable solution for wastewater treatment and dye annihilation challenges. Adsorption has been rated the most practical way of the several decolorization procedures due to its minimal initial investment, convenient utility, and high-performance caliber. Hydrogels, which are three-dimensional polymer networks, are notable because of their potential to regenerate, biodegrade, absorb bulky amounts of water, respond to stimuli, and have unique morphologies. Natural polysaccharide hydrogels are chosen over synthetic ones because they are robust, bioresorbable, non-toxic, and cheaply accessible. This study has covered six biopolymers, including chitosan, cellulose, pectin, sodium alginate, guar gum, and starch, consisting of their chemical architecture, origins, characteristics, and uses. The next part describes these polysaccharide-based hydrogels, including their manufacturing techniques, chemical alterations, and adsorption effectiveness. It is deeply evaluated how size and shape affect the adsorption rate, which has not been addressed in any prior research. To assist the readers in identifying areas for further research in this subject, limitations of these hydrogels and future views are provided in the conclusion.

Abstract
This research investigated the utilization of graphene quantum dot/montmorillonite (GQD/MMT) as an effective nanofiller in a hydrogel composed of salep biopolymer. The semi-IPN hydrogel was synthesized using salep as the substrate, acrylamide (AAm) as the monomer, ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator in free radical polymerization, and N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross-linking agent. The hydrogels were applied to remove safranin (SA), methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV), methyl green (MG), congo red (CR), and malachite green (MG) dyes from the water. The diverse properties were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope, fourier infrared spectroscopy, mapping, energy dispersive spectroscopy, weighing analysis, X-ray diffraction, and thermal stability analyses. The optimism of the prepared adsorbent in dye absorption was evaluated by measuring the swelling amount, pH impact, adsorbent dosage, and contact time. The adsorption calculations were described using kinetics and isotherm models. The results indicated that the Langmuir isotherm model (R2 = 99.6) and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R2 = 99.9) provided the best fit for the absorption process of MB. The presence of additional amounts of GQD/MMT had a reciprocal effect on the adsorption efficiency due to the accumulation of GQD/MMT in the semi-interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN (structure. The findings revealed that the samples exhibited high thermal stability, and the absorption process was primarily chemical. Furthermore, the nanocomposite hydrogels demonstrated distinct mechanisms for absorbing anionic dye (CR) and cationic dye (MB). Under optimal conditions, using 7 wt% GQD/MMT at a concentration of 5 ppm, pH = 7, an adsorbent dosage of 50 mg, at room temperature, and a contact time of 90 min, the maximum removal efficiencies were achieved: MB (96.2%), SA (98.2%), MG (86%), CV (99.8%), MG (95.8%), and CR (63.4%). These results highlight the adsorbent's high absorption capacity, rapid removal rate, and reusability, demonstrating its potential as an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for removing dyes from water.

Abstract
In the present investigation a novel, environmentally affable and economical, modified gellan gum nanocomposite (MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT) was fabricated via free-radical polymerization for the liquid-phase mitigation of Methylene blue (MB) and Malachite green (MG) dyes. The innovation of this work is substantiated by the intentional combination of diverse materials, the strategic incorporation of polypyrrole for enhanced adsorption, and the thoughtful addition of MMT as a nanofiller to address mechanical strength and improve adsorption capacity. The physico-chemical facets of MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT and its interaction with the dye molecules were elucidated using FT-IR, SEM-EDX, BET, TEM, and XRD techniques. The optimum conditions for the sorption of MB and MG were deemed to be dosage (1.2 g/L for both dyes), contact time (50 min for both dyes), initial MG/MB concentration (MB = 40 mg/L & MG = 30 mg/L), and pH (MB = 10 & MG = 7). The Freundlich isotherm was identified as the most suitable model, as evidenced by the highest R2 value (∼0.999), indicating multilayer adsorption. The pseudo second-order model appraised the kinetic data. Thermodynamic findings revealed the adsorption process to be spontaneous, viable and exothermic which was ascertained by negative ∆H⸰ values (-22.8 kJ/mol for MB and -18.3 kJ/mol for MG). The substantial Langmuir adsorption capacity (Qm: MG =185.185; MB = 344.827) can be ascribed to the reason for strong interactions between MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT and dyes. The high reliability of MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT was determined by the regeneration studies that worked up to four cycles for both dyes. The real water (distilled water, tap water, and river water) samples spiked with MG/MB demonstrated a substantial uptake of dyes (>85 %) and the marginal influence of ionic strength on the adsorptive potential of MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT validated its efficacy for the decontamination of real effluents. The forces of attraction between the dyes and MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT included van der Waals, electrostatic forces of attraction, and π-π interaction. This green, economical, and viable MAA-g-GG/Ppy/MMT will prove to be an efficient adsorbent for the decontamination process of sequestration of dyes to achieve a sustainable environment.

Abstract
In the present study, starch/zeolitic imidazole framework-67 (ZIF-67) modified magnetic montmorillonite nanocomposite adsorbent to remove tetracycline (TC) as an emerging antibiotic-based contaminant from aqueous media. The surface properties of the adsorbents were investigated using FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDX-Map, XPS, TEM, BET, and VSM analysis. The specific surface area of MMT, St/MMT-MnFe2O4, and St/MMT-MnFe2O4-ZIF-67 magnetic nanocomposite samples were found to be 15.63, 20.54, and 588.41 m2/g, respectively. The influence of pH, adsorbent amount, initial TC concentration, temperature, contact time, and coexisting ions on TC elimination was explored in a batch adsorption system. The kinetic and equilibrium data were well matched with the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir isotherm models, respectively. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of TC were obtained to be 40.24, 66.1, and 135.2 mg/g by MMT, St/MMT-MnFe2O4, and St/MMT-MnFe2O4-ZIF-67 magnetic nanocomposite adsorbents, respectively. Also, thermodynamic studies illustrated that the TC adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous. Furthermore, the magnetic nanocomposite adsorbent St/MMT-MnFe2O4-ZIF-67 showed good reusability and could be recycled for up to five cycles. This excellent adsorption performance, coupled with the facile separation of the magnetic nanocomposite, gave St/MMT-MnFe2O4-ZIF-67 a high potential for TC removal from aqueous media.

Abstract
Shortage of drinking water has gained potential interest over the last few decades. Discharged industrial effluent, including various toxic pollutants, to water surfaces is one of the most serious environmental issues. The adsorption technique has become a widely studied method for the removal of toxic pollutants, specifically synthetic dyes, from wastewater due to its cost-effectiveness, high selectivity, and ease of operation. In this study, a novel gelatin-crosslinked-poly(acrylamide-co-itaconic acid)/montmorillonite (MMT) nanoclay nanocomposites-based adsorbent has been prepared for removing malachite green (MG) dye from an aqueous solution. Modified gelatin nanocomposites were synthesized using a free-radical polymerization technique in the presence and absence of MMT. Various analytical instrumentation: including FTIR, FESEM, XRD, and TEM techniques were used to elucidate the chemical structure and surface morphology of the prepared samples. Using a batch adsorption experiment, Langmuir isotherm model showed that the prepared modified gelatin nanocomposite had a maximum adsorption capacity of 950.5 mg/g using 350 mg/L of MG dye at pH 9 within 45 min. Furthermore, the regeneration study showed good recyclability for the obtained nanocomposite through four consecutive reusable cycles. Therefore, the fabricated gelatin nanocomposite is an attractive adsorbent for MG dye elimination from aqueous solutions.

Abstract
Oral medications are prone to gastric degradation and enzymatic inactivation, diminishing their efficacy. This study investigates a solution by developing intelligent polymeric networks, incorporating chitosan, methacrylic acid, N, N, methylene bisacrylamide, and montmorillonite clay, to enable the controlled release of Diloxanide Furoate (DF), an anti-protozoal drug. Employing a swelling-assisted diffusion technique, drug loading percentages varied from 63.96 % to 76.82 % among different formulations. Increased chitosan and methacrylic acid content enhanced drug loading, while N, N, methylene bisacrylamide and montmorillonite clay demonstrated an inverse relationship affecting diffusion and swelling. Equilibrium swelling studies unveiled formulation-dependent behaviors, with chitosan reducing swelling and methacrylic acid promoting it. Higher N, N, methylene bisacrylamide concentrations decreased swelling, indicating a denser cross-linked structure, while montmorillonite clay reduced hydrophilicity and swelling capacity. Further analyses confirmed successful gel formation, particularly in formulations with higher chitosan, methacrylic acid, and N, N, methylene bisacrylamide content, while montmorillonite clay limited gel fraction due to restricted polymer chain mobility. Techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Differential scanning calorimetry, and thermal gravimetric analyses supported network development, enhancing thermal stability and cross-linking density. This research underscores the flexibility of polymeric networks for precise drug delivery, offering potential advancements in targeted therapies for various medical conditions.

Abstract
Herein, a novel magnetic adsorbent (BC/AA/MN@Fe3O4) was successfully prepared from waste bamboo fiber tissue and montmorillonite, and subsequently applied for the highly selective removal of malachite green (MG, removal efficiency = 97.3 %) from the mixed dye solution of MG with methyl orange (MO, removal efficiency = 4.5 %). The magnetic adsorbent has a high porosity with abundant mesopores. In the single dye MG solution, the adsorbent could effectively remove MG over a wide pH range from 4 to 10, and the maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) was 2282.3 mg/g. Moreover, the magnetic adsorbent could remove MG from various solutions including mixed dye solution, high salinity solution, and real river water dye solution. The thermodynamic results proved that the adsorption process of MG was spontaneous and endothermic. The adsorption of MG was due to the comprehensive effects of electrostatic attraction, hydrogen bonding interactions and ions exchange, between the adsorbent and MG. Furthermore, the BC/AA/MN@Fe3O4 exhibited an excellent reusability with adsorption efficiency above 53.4 % after five consecutive cycles. Therefore, the prepared magnetic nanocellulose-based adsorbent was expected to be a promising material for highly selective adsorption and separation of MG from mixed dye solution.

Abstract
Water pollution caused by dyes poses a significant threat to life on earth. Poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) hydrogels are widely used to treat wastewater from various pollutants. This study aims to examine the removal of malachite green (MG), a harmful and persistent dye that could cause extensive environmental damage, from an aqueous solution by adjusting the initial concentration of acrylamide (AM) and the degree of copolymer crosslinking. The copolymer hydrogels efficiently eliminate MG in a brief timeframe. The most successful hydrogel accomplished a removal rate exceeding 96%. The copolymer of 4 wt % 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate and a concentration of 100 mg/mL AM was effective. The degree of swelling was affected by crosslinking density as expected, with low crosslinking ratios resulting in significant swelling and high ratios resulting in less swelling. To evaluate the results, a docking approach was used which presented three crosslinked models: low, medium, and high. The copolymer-dye hydrogel system displayed robust hydrogen bonding interactions, as confirmed by the high quantities of both donors and acceptors. It was determined that MG contains six rotatable bonds, enabling it to adapt and interact with the copolymer chains. The dye and copolymer enhance H-bond formation by providing two hydrogen bond donors and 16 hydrogen bond acceptors, respectively. Through capitalizing on cationic and anionic effects, the ionic MG/copolymer hydrogel system improves retention efficiency by enhancing attraction between opposing charges. It is interesting to note that the synthesized copolymer is able to remove 96.4% of MG from aqueous media within one hour of contact time.

Abstract
To use resources rationally, the recovery and recycling of rare earth (RE) from industrial sewage have attracted a lot of attention. Herein, a polymer adsorbent CMC/PAM/Fe3O4 (CPF) was synthesized from renewable carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), polyacrylamide (PAM), and Fe3O4 by the template of La3+ using ion imprinting technology. The CPF was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), IR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscope (SEM), and results show that PAM and CMC can crosslink with each other and form copolymers with Fe3O4 particles dispersing in it. The adsorption properties for the template ions La3+ were fully studied. It is found that CPF exhibited good adsorption performance with an adsorption capacity of 34.6 mg·g-1. Cycling experiments show that CPF still has high efficiency even after 5 cycles. Meanwhile, the desorption rate can reach more than 98%. The low wastage and high adsorption/desorption efficiency would enable CPF to be a good candidate adsorbent for removal/recovery of La3+ from industrial sewage.

Abstract
With the development of global industry, industrial wastewater pollution has caused serious environmental problems, and the demand for green and sustainable adsorbents is increasingly strong in the society. In this article, lignin/cellulose hydrogel materials were prepared using sodium lignosulfonate and cellulose as raw materials and 0.1% acetic acid solution as a solvent. The results showed that the optimal adsorption conditions for Congo red were as follows: an adsorption time of 4 h, a pH value of 6, and an adsorption temperature of 45 °C. The adsorption process was in line with the Langmuir isothermal model and a quasi-second-order kinetic model, which belonged to single molecular layer adsorption, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 294.0 mg/g. The optimal adsorption conditions for Malachite green were as follows: an adsorption time of 4 h, a pH value of 4, and an adsorption temperature of 60 °C. The adsorption process was consistent with the Freundlich isothermal model and a pseudo-second-order kinetic model, which belonged to the chemisorption-dominated multimolecular layer adsorption with the maximum adsorption capacity of 129.8 mg/g.

Abstract
The present work describes the potential application of environmentally friendly sodium carboxymethylcellulose/gelatin (CMC/Gel) semi-interpenetrating hydrogels prepared by citric acid as a nontoxic cross-linking agent to adsorb dyes. The prepared hydrogels were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTG), and swelling study. The adsorption performance of CMC/Gel2 (C/G2) hydrogel on methylene blue (MB) was investigated. The results showed the better adsorption conditions: adsorption time of 300 min, initial MB concentration of 500 mg/L, adsorbent dosage of 1.2 g/L, solution pH of 7, and temperature of 30 °C. The adsorption kinetics fit the pseudo-second order kinetics model, and the adsorption isotherm fit the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity reached 943.40 mg/g. The adsorption process is a spontaneous exothermic process. After three adsorption-desorption cycles, the removal rate of MB by hydrogel still reached 85%, with good reusability. Consequently, the hydrogel can be used as an environmentally friendly, stable, and efficient adsorbent for dyes in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
As dye adsorbents with great potential, polysaccharide-based hydrogels are significantly hampered in practical application owing to intricate preparation methods, low absorption, and bad degradability. Salecan is a water-soluble extracellular polysaccharide with excellent physicochemical and biological properties. Here, salecan and xanthan gum were first used as a dual-precursors system, their mixed solution was crosslinked by Fe3+ to assemble a photo-degradable ionic gel for malachite green (MG) adsorption. Photo-degradation was done using visible light under very mild conditions, which gave rise to gel network dissolution and homogeneous solution formation. Extensive dynamic coordinate interactions between Fe3+ and polysaccharides maintained gel matrix stability and were systematically investigated. The control of water uptake, micro-structure, and rheology can be facilely implemented by tuning salecan/xanthan gum ratios. Furthermore, various parameters such as polysaccharide ratios, pHs, MG concentrations, and contact time affecting adsorption were optimized using batch experiments. Adsorption process accurately adhered to pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm model, with the maximum adsorption capacity of 463.0 mg/g. Such mechanism implied monolayer chemisorptive characteristics. The gel exhibited satisfactory reusability and was recycled five times without apparent decrease in adsorption capacity. From these results, the photo-degradable Fe3+-induced salecan/xanthan gum ionic gel is an alternative and sustainable absorbent for MG removal.

Abstract
In this work, the suitability and efficacy of the previously reported biodegradable gellan gum (GG)-based hydrogel have been thoroughly investigated with respect to the adsorption mechanisms of malachite green (MG) and methylene blue (MB) dyes. The dyes' removal from aqueous solutions using GG-cl-poly(AA) as an adsorbent material has been studied in a discontinuous system with respect to contact time, dose, pH, and temperature. The synthesized hydrogel was characterized by FT-IR, TGA, XRD, 1H NMR, and FE-SEM. The adsorption capacity of GG-cl-poly(AA) hydrogel was investigated at different pH solutions (3, 7, and 10), and it was found that neutralized charge plays a crucial role in the enhancement of dye removal. To better understand the behavior of the GG-cl-poly(AA) hydrogel in adsorbing model dyes, adsorption kinetics, isotherms, and thermodynamics were also investigated. The values of qmax for MG and MB were obtained to be 552.48 and 531.9 mg g-1. In addition, the influence of NaCl concentration on adsorption efficiency was investigated, and it was found that as the ion concentration increased, the effectiveness of the adsorption process dropped. Moreover, the synthesized hydrogel's potential application in the adsorption and separation of dyes from wastewater is enhanced by the reusability investigations conducted in convenient conditions. As a result, it is possible to conclude that reusing GG-cl-poly(AA) hydrogel as a low-cost, easy-to-handle, nontoxic material in an industrial wastewater treatment plant's adsorption process can provide a number of advantages, including high efficiency for MG and MB removal and cost savings on overall treatment plant operations.

Abstract
One of the main problems with water pollution is dye contamination of rivers, industrial effluents, and water sources. It has endangered the world's sources of drinking water. Several remediation strategies have been carefully developed and tested to minimize this ominous picture. Due to their appealing practical and financial benefits, adsorption methods in particular are often listed as one of the most popular solutions to remediate dye-contaminated water. Biopolymer-based hydrogel nanocomposites are a cutting-edge class of materials with a wide range of applications that are effective in removing organic dyes from the environment. Since the incorporation of various materials into hydrogel matrices generated composite materials with distinct characteristics, these unique materials were often alluded to as ideal adsorbents. The fundamental emphasis of the conceptual and critical review of the literature in this research is the significant potential of hydrogel nanocomposites (HNCs) to remediate dye-contaminated water (especially for articles from the previous five years). The review also provides knowledge for the development of biopolymer-based HNCs, prospects, and opportunities for future research. It is also focused on optimum conditions for dye adsorption processes along with their adsorption kinetics and isotherm models. In summary, the information gained in this review research may contribute to a strengthened scientific rationale for the practical and efficient application of these novel adsorbent materials.

Abstract
ZnFe2O4 is a highly desirable catalyst due to its exceptional photo-response in the visible light region, but various drawbacks, such as rapid recombination of photo-generated electron-hole pairs and severe particle agglomeration, make it difficult to use. In this study, a co-precipitation approach was used to create ZnFe2O4/HNT (ZF/HNTs) composites. XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, BET, and DRS were used to characterize the ZF/HNT composites. Furthermore, the effectiveness of removing crystal violet under simulated visible light irradiation was used to assess photocatalytic activity. The results showed that ZnFe2O4 with typical diameters of around 20 nm was significantly distributed on halloysite nanotubes. Because of the synergistic impact of the improved agglomeration phenomena of ZnFe2O4 and the decreased recombination rate of photo-generated electrons and holes, all of the composites had superior photocatalytic performance than pure ZnFe2O4. The ZF/HNTs-11 composite exhibited the highest removal performance, removing 96.7% of the sample in less than 150 min. In addition, the composite was very stable and reusable. Consequently, ZF/HNTs-11 composite is an effective catalyst for treating pollutants found in wastewater.

Abstract
Alginate-grafted polyaniline (Alg-g-PANI) microparticles were synthesized through the grafting of aniline onto functionalized Alg followed by double crosslinking by glutaraldehyde and calcium chloride. The performance of the developed microparticles as adsorbent in simultaneous removal of malachite green (MG) and congo red (CR) dyes were examined by the batch method. Experimental parameters, including adsorbent amount, pH, initial dyes concentrations, and contact time were optimized. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were employed to explore the equilibrium isotherm. As the Langmuir model results, the maximum adsorption capacities (Qm) of microparticles for the MG and CR dyes were obtained as 578.3 and 409.6 mgg-1, respectively. Adsorption kinetics for both dyes were well-fitted with the pseudo-second-order model that confirm the rate-limiting step might be the chemical adsorption. The adsorbent was regenerated via desorption process and was reusable five times without a substantial decrease in its adsorption efficacy in first three cycles. Adsorbent-dyes interactions were computationally evaluated using Gromacs package, and it was found that both MG and CR are able to interact strongly with the adsorbent. In accordance with experimental results, simulation data revealed that MG can be removed more efficiently than those of the CR. As the experimental results, we could conclude that the synthesized Alg-g-PANI microparticles can be used as a nature-inspired adsorbent for simultaneous removals of CR and MG dyes.

Abstract
The primary goal of this study is to prepare and characterize a ghatti gum/poly(acrylic acid)/TiO2 (GG/poly(AA)/TiO2) hydrogel nanocomposite for adsorption of the dye malachite green (MG) from the aqueous phase in a discontinuous system. A variety of approaches were used to investigate the structure, morphology, and thermomechanical characteristics of the synthesized hydrogel nanocomposite. Response surface methodology (RSM) was performed to analyze the impact of three processing parameters, namely adsorbent dosage, dye concentration, contact duration, and their interactions on MG dye adsorption capacity. Analysis of variance was used to assess the experimental findings, which revealed that the quadratic regression model was statistically acceptable. The integration of TiO2 nanoparticles into the hydrogel matrix improved its thermal stability, mechanical strength, and performance in adsorbing MG dye from water. The kinetics and isotherm were evaluated, and the adsorption process was well fitted with pseudo-second order and Temkin isotherm models, respectively. Using the Langmuir equation, the maximum adsorption capacity at 45 °C within 50 min was calculated to be 2145 mg/g. Thermodynamic analysis at 25-45 °C revealed that the MG dye was spontaneously absorbed by the hydrogel nanocomposite. The prepared hydrogel nanocomposite demonstrated excellent reusability without a noticeable loss in MG dye adsorption capability for 6 cycles.

Abstract
A new nanocomposite based on Cloisite 30B clay modified with ZnO and Ag2O nanoparticles (Cloisite 30B/ZnO/Ag2O) was synthesized as an effective catalyst in the sono-photocatalytic process of crystal violet (CV) and methylene blue (MB) dyes simultaneously. The characteristics and catalytic activity of Cloisite 30B/ZnO/Ag2O nanocomposite were investigated under different conditions. The specific active surface for Cloisite 30B/ZnO/Ag2O nanocomposite was 18.29 m2/g. Additionally, the catalytic activity showed that Cloisite 30B/ZnO/Ag2O nanocomposite (CV: 99.21%, MB: 98.43%) compared to Cloisite 30B/Ag2O (CV: 85.38%, MB: 83.62%) and Ag2O (CV: 68.21%, MB: 66.41%) has more catalytic activity. The catalytic activity of Cloisite 30B/ZnO/Ag2O using the sono-photocatalytic process had the maximum efficiency (CV: 99.21%, MB: 98.43%) at pH 8, time of 50 min, amount of 40 mM H2O2, catalyst dose of 0.5 g/L, and the concentration of 'CV + MB' of 5 mg/L. The catalyst can be reused in the sono-photocatalytic process for up to six steps. According to the results, •OH and h+ were effective in the degradation of the desired dyes using the desired method. Data followed the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The method used in this research is an efficient and promising method to remove dyes from wastewater.

Abstract
Copolymer of acrylic acid (AA) and itaconic acid (IA) grafted onto sodium carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogel (CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA)) was successfully synthesized as an adsorbent to remove safranin-O from wastewater. The swelling and removal efficiencies of CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA) were enhanced by increasing IA/AA molar ratio as well as by incorporation of montmorillonite clay nano-sheets (MMT). The surface area of MMT, CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA), and CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA) samples was 15.632, 0.61452, and 0.66584 m2/g, respectively, indicating the effectiveness of MMT nano-sheets in improving hydrogel surface area. The maximum removal efficiency of CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA)/MMT under optimum conditions i.e., pH of 8, initial concentration of 10 mg/L, adsorbent dose of 2 g/L, and contact time of 40 min was ascertained 99.78% using a response surface methodology-central composite design (RSM-CCD). Pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models giving the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 18.5185 mg/g and 19.1205 mg/g for CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA) and CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA)/MMT samples, respectively are the best-fitted models for kinetic and equilibrium data. Thermodynamically, safranin-O decontamination was spontaneous, exothermic, and entropy decreasing. Moreover, ad (de)sorption behavior study showed that CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA)/MMT performance was not changed after multiple recovery steps. Therefore, CMC-g-poly (AA-co-IA)/MMT was considered as a highly potential adsorbent for safranin-O removal from wastewater.

Abstract
The discharge of textile wastewater into aquatic streams is considered a major challenge due to its effect on the water ecosystem. Direct blue 78 (DB78) dye has a complex structure. Therefore, it is difficult to separate it from industrial wastewater. In this study, carbon obtained from the pyrolysis of mixed palm seeds under different temperatures (400 °C and 1000 °C) was activated by a thermochemical method by using microwave radiation and an HCl solution in order to improve its adsorption characteristics. The generated activated carbon was used to synthesize a novel activated carbon/chitosan microbead (ACMB) for dye removal from textile wastewater. The obtained activated carbon (AC) was characterized by a physicochemical analysis that included, namely, particle size, zeta potential, SEM, EDX, and FTIR analyses. A series of batch experiments were conducted in terms of the ACMB dose, contact time, pH, and activated carbon/chitosan ratios in synthetic microbeads for enhancing the adsorption capacity. A remarkable improvement in the surface roughness was observed using SEM analysis. The particle surface was transformed from a slick surface with a minor-pore structure to a rough surface with major-pore structure. The zeta potential analysis indicated a higher improvement in the carbon surface charge, from -35 mv (before activation) to +20 mv (after activation). The adsorption tests showed that the dye-removal efficiency increased with the increasing adsorbent concentration. The maximum removal efficiencies were 97.8% and 98.4% using 3 and 4 g/L of AC400°C MB-0.3:1 and AC1000°C MB-0.3:1, respectively, with initial dye concentrations of 40 mg/L under acidic conditions (pH = 4-5), and an optimal mixing time of 50 min. The equilibrium studies for AC400°C MB-0.3:1 and AC1000°C MB-0.3:1 showed that the equilibrium data best fitted to the Langmuir isothermal model with R2 = 0.99. These results reveal that activated carbon/chitosan microbeads are an effective adsorbent for the removal of direct blue 78 dye and provide a new platform for dye removal.

Abstract
The goal of this investigation was to develop a new magnetic nanocomposite of walnut shell ash (WSA)/starch/Fe3O4 to remove Cu (II) present in groundwater samples. The desired nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by the chemical deposition method. The specific active surface area for pristine WSA and WSA/starch/Fe3O4 magnetic nanocomposites was determined to be 8.1 and 52.6 m2/g, respectively. A central composite design for the response surface method was utilized to study the influence of pH, adsorbent quantity, initial content of Cu (II), temperature, and contact time. This method showed the success of the model to design process variables and to estimate the appropriate response. The P- and F-value determined for the quadratic polynomial model showed the significance and accuracy of the proposed model in examining experimental and predicted data with R2 and Adj.R2 of 0.994 and 0.991, respectively. The Cu adsorption onto WSA and WSA/starch/Fe3O4 obeyed the Freundlich and Langmuir models, respectively. The highest Cu (II) sorption capacity of 29.0 and 45.4 mg/g was attained for WSA and WSA/starch/Fe3O4, respectively. The free energy of Gibbs had a negative value at 25-45 °C indicating that the adsorption process is spontaneous. Also, negative ΔH values for copper adsorption showed that the processes are exothermic. The kinetic adsorption data for WSA and WSA/starch/Fe3O4 followed the pseudo-second order (PSO) model. The ability of the composite adsorbent to remove copper from three groundwater samples showed that it could be reused at least 3 times with appropriate efficiency, depending on the water quality.

Abstract
The present study reported the synthesis and utilization of a graphene-based hybrid nanocomposite (MnFe2O4/G) to mitigate several synthetic dyes, including methylene blue, malachite green, crystal violet, and Rhodamine B. This adsorbent was structurally analyzed by several physicochemical techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm measurement, point of zero charge, and Boehm titrations. BET surface area of MnFe2O4/G was measured at 382.98 m2/g, which was substantially higher than that of MnFe2O4. MnFe2O4/G possessed diverse surface chemistry properties with the presence of many functional groups such as carboxylic acid, phenolic, lactone, and basic groups. MnFe2O4/G was used to remove synthetic dyes in the aqueous media. The effect of many factors, e.g., concentration (5-50 mg/L), pH (4-10), dose (5-20 mg), and temperature (25-45 °C) on adsorption performance of MnFe2O4/G was conducted. Kinetic, isotherm, intraparticle, and thermodynamic models were adopted for investigating adsorption phenomenon of dyes on MnFe2O4/G. The maximum adsorption capacity of dyes over MnFe2O4/G was found as Rhodamine B (67.8 mg/g) < crystal violet (81.3 mg/g) < methylene blue (137.7 mg/g) < malachite green (394.5 mg/g). Some tests were performed to remove mixed dyes, and mixed dyes in the presence of antibiotics with total efficiencies of 65.8-87.9% after 120 min. Abstract
In this study, we report the development of physically cross-linked hydroxyethyl cellulose grafted polyacrylic acid-co-polyacrylamide/silver nanocomposite [Ag@HEC-g-P(AA-co-AM)-Fe3+] possesses excellent antimicrobial and enhanced MB adsorption. A green in-situ reduction process was used to prepare silver nanoparticles. UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM, ATR-IR, XRD, SEM-EDS were used to analyze the green produced silver nanoparticles and Ag@HEC-g-P(AA-co-AM)-Fe3+. The swelling ratio of Ag@HEC-g-P(AA-co-AM)-Fe3+ is dependent on AgNPs content and pH. The swelling kinetics fitted with Pseudo-second order. The cumulative release#% of AgNPs was 29.63 ± 1.7%, respectively up to 10 h and its kinetics obey Korsmeyer-Peppas model. The grafting to HEC and incorporation of AgNPs into HEC-g-P(AA-co-AM)-Fe3+ enhances the thermal stabilities and increases total activation energies from 19,122.2 to 66,287.1 KJ mol. Ag@HEC-g-P(AA-co-AM)-Fe3+ has powerful antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus leutus, Staphyllococus aureus. The maximum adsorption capacity of MB was 133.38 ± 1.25 mg/g at nanocomposite concentration (300 mg/L), pH (9.0), and MB concentration (5 mg/L). To anticipate the adsorption mechanism, Pseudo-first and second-order models, as well as three isotherm models (Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin) were used to model adsorption kinetics. The nonlinear Langmuir models and second-order kinetics were the most appropriate.

Abstract
In the current study, activated carbon oak wood (ACOW600) and modified activated carbon using ZnO (ACOW600/ZnO) and Fe3O4 (ACOW600/ZnO/Fe3O4) nanoparticles were used to remove methyl violet 2B dye (MV2B) from aqueous solutions. ACOW was synthesized at different temperatures (300-700 °C), and then the maximum MV2B removal efficiency (92.76 %) was achieved using ACOW synthesized at 600 °C. The morphology and characteristics of ACOW600, ACOW600/ZnO, and ACOW600/ZnO/Fe3O4 were studied using surface analyzes. According to the results, the adsorbents indicated a high ability to absorb MV2B from liquid solution, and their kinetic behavior follows a pseudo-second-order kinetic. In addition, the equilibrium study revealed that the MV2B uptake by the ACOW600/ZnO/Fe3O4 magnetic nanocomposite followed the Freundlich model. In contrast, the Langmuir model described the MV2B adsorption process using ACOW600 and ACOW600/ZnO. The maximum adsorption capacity (qm) of MV2B using ACOW600, ACOW600/ZnO, and ACOW600/ZnO/Fe3O4 was determined 26.16 mg g-1, 37.05 mg g-1, and 48.59 mg g-1, respectively, indicating that modification of ACOW600 led to improve its performance in removing MV2B. The enthalpy (ΔH), entropy (ΔG), and Gibbs free energy (ΔS) parameters revealed that the decontamination of MV2B using the studied adsorbents was exothermic and spontaneous. Also, random interactions of MV2B molecules and adsorbent surfaces were reduced during the adsorption process. Textile wastewater was significantly treated by ACOW600, ACOW600/ZnO, and ACOW600/ZnO/Fe3O4 adsorbents. The recycling of the adsorbents was demonstrated that the investigated adsorbents could be re-utilized many times in the MV2B removal process.

Abstract
Chitosan is a natural fiber, chemically cellulose-like biopolymer, which is processed from chitin. Its use as a natural polymer is getting more attention because it is non-toxic, renewable, and biocompatible. However, its poor mechanical and thermal strength, particle size, and surface area restrict its industrial use. Consequently, to improve these properties, cellulose and/or inorganic nanoparticles have been used. This review discusses the recent progress of chitosan and cellulose composite materials, their preparation, and their applications in different industrial sectors. It also discusses the modification of chitosan and cellulose composite materials to allow their use on a large scale. Finally, the recent development of chitosan composite materials for drug delivery, food packaging, protective coatings, and wastewater treatment are discussed. The challenges and perspectives for future research are also considered. This review suggests that chitosan and cellulose nano-composite are promising, low-cost products for environmental remediation involving a simple production process.

Abstract
Waste cotton sheets (WCS) are promising cellulose sources due to their high content of cellulose and large amount of disposal every year, which could be recycled and employed as low-cost structural materials. The present work aims at investigating the efficacy of hydrogel adsorbents prepared from regenerated WCS as the carriers of activated carbon (AC) for treating the dye-contaminated water. Activated WCS was directly dissolved in lithium chloride/N,N-dimethylacetamide (LiCl/DMAc) solvent and then regenerated into cellulose hydrogels, which were employed as three-dimensional biodegradable matrices for loading an extremely high content of AC (up to 5000%). The morphology and properties of resultant adsorbents were studied in detail. The results showed that different washing methods and contents of AC and cellulose had obvious effects on water contents, mechanical properties, and adsorption capacities of AC/WCS hydrogels. Especially, the hydrogels containing high AC content washed by gradient ethanol solvent exhibited outstanding compressive strengths of up to 3.0 MPa at 60% strain, while the adsorption capacity of 5000%AC/0.3CS toward a model dye methylene blue (MB, initial concentration of 200 mg/L) reached 174.71 mg/g at pH 6.9 and 35 °C. This was comparable to the adsorption capacity of original AC powders, while no AC powders were released from hydrogels to water. The adsorption of MB followed the Dubinin-Astakhov model and pseudo-first-order mechanism. Thermodynamic studies showed the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the overall physical adsorption process. Therefore, this work demonstrates the feasibility to recycle WCS into biodegradable carriers of functional compounds, and the AC/regenerated cellulose hydrogels have a high potential as a promising adsorbent with low-cost and convenient separation for dye removal from wastewater.

Abstract
Synergistic combinations of pullulan, agar, montmorillonite (MMT) clay, and quaternary ammonium silane (QAS)-based (Pullulan/agar/MMT clay/QAS) active nanocomposites were prepared by a simple, cost-effective method. The Pullulan/agar/MMT clay/QAS nanocomposites were studied via Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analyses. The concentration of MMT clay played a very important role in the properties of the nanocomposites. However, the transparency of the composite was not significantly affected by the addition of MMT clay. The ultraviolet (UV) transmittance of Pullulan/agar/MMT clay/QAS was in the range of 91.4-79.8 at 600 nm. The thermal and mechanical properties were significantly improved by the MMT clay. The tensile strength and elongation at break of the composites were in the range of 23.8-39.7 MPa and 37.2-26.9%, respectively. The long alkyl chain in QAS significantly improved the hydrophobic nature of the Pullulan/agar/MMT clay nanocomposites, impacting the contact angle (66.2-71.2°), water vapor permeability (3.17-2.20 × 10-9 g/m2 Pa·s), and swelling ratio (1837-836%). The combination of Pullulan/agar/MMT clay/QAS had a synergistic effect on the rheological properties. MMT clay and QAS significantly increased the viscosity, storage, and loss modulus of the hydrogel composites. With the addition of QAS, the Pullulan/agar/MMT clay nanocomposites showed good antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens.
