Abstract
The presence of harmful substances such as dyes in water systems poses a direct threat to the quality of people's lives and other organisms living in the ecosystem. Orange G (OG) is considered a hazardous dye. The existing paper attempts to evaluate a low-cost adsorbent for the effective removal of OG dye. The developed adsorbent Polyaniline@Hydroxyapatite extracted from Cilus Gilberti fish Scale (PANI@FHAP) was elaborated through the application of the in situ chemical polymerization method to incorporate PANI on the surface of naturally extracted hydroxyapatite FHAP. The good synthesis of PANI@FHAP was evaluated through multiple techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (SEM/EDS), Fourier Transforms Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled with thermal differential analysis (DTA) analysis. The results reveal a highly ordered disposition of PANI chains on FHAP, resulting in a well-coated FHAP in the PANI matrix. Furthermore, the presence of functional groups on the surface of PANI such as amine (-NH2) and imine (=NH) groups would facilitate the removal of OG dye from contaminated water. The adsorption of OG onto PANI@FHAP was conducted in batch mode and optimized through response surface methodology coupled with box-Behnken design (RSM/BBD) to investigate the effect of time, adsorbent dose, and initial concentration. The outcomes proved that OG adsorption follows a quadratic model (R2 = 0.989). The kinetic study revealed that the adsorption of OG fits the pseudo-second-order model. On the other hand, the isotherm study declared that the Freundlich model is best suited to the description of OG adsorption. For thermodynamic study, the adsorption of OG is spontaneous in nature and exothermic. Furthermore, the regeneration-reusability study indicates that PANI@FHAP could be regenerated and reused up to five successive cycles. Based on the FTIR spectrum of PANI@FHAP after OG adsorption, the mechanism governing OG adsorption is predominantly driven by π-π interaction, electrostatic interaction, and hydrogen bonding interactions. The obtained results suppose that PANI@FHAP adsorbent can be a competitive material in large-scale applications.

Abstract
Synthetic dyes are prone to water pollution during use, jeopardizing biodiversity and human health. This study aimed to investigate the adsorption and photocatalytic assist potential of sodium lignosulfonate (LS) in in situ reduced silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and chitosan (CS)-loaded silver nanoparticles (CS-LS/AgNPs) as adsorbents for Rhodamine B (RhB). The AgNPs were synthesized by doping LS on the surface of chitosan for modification. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry, energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to confirm the synthesis of nanomaterials. The adsorption and photocatalytic removal experiments of RhB were carried out under optimal conditions (initial dye concentration of 20 mg/L, adsorbent dosage of 0.02 g, time of 60 min, and UV power of 250 W), and the kinetics of dye degradation was also investigated, which showed that the removal rate of RhB by AgNPs photocatalysis can reach 55%. The results indicated that LS was highly effective as a reducing agent for the large-scale production of metal nanoparticles and can be used for dye decolorization. This work provides a new catalyst for the effective removal of dye from wastewater, and can achieve high-value applications of chitosan and lignin.

Abstract
The potentials of biomass-based carbon quantum dot (CQD) as an adsorbent for batch adsorption of dyes and its photocatalytic degradation capacity for dyes which are congo red (CR) and methylene blue (MB) have been conducted in this study. The CQDs properties, performance, behaviour, and photoluminescence characteristics were assessed using batch adsorption experiments which were carried out under operating conditions including, temperature, pH and dosage. The morphological analysis revealed that CQDs are highly porous, uniform, closely aligned and multi-layered. The presence of hydroxyl, carboxyl and carbonyl functional groups indicated the significance of the oxygenated functional groups. Spectral analysis of photoluminescence for CQDs confirmed their photoluminescent quality by exhibiting high excitation intensity and possessing greenish-blue fluorescence under UV radiation. The removal percentage of the dyes adsorbed for both CR and MB dyes was 77% and 75%. Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order models closely fitted the adsorption results. Thermodynamics analysis indicated that the adsorption process was exothermic and spontaneous, with excellent reusability and stability. The degradation efficiency of CQDs on both dyes was more than 90% under sunlight irradiation and obeyed the first-order kinetic model. These results demonstrated CQDs to be an excellent adsorbent and outstanding photocatalyst for organic dye degradation.

Abstract
Hydroxyapatite (HAp) has been used for various applications such as orthopedics, drug delivery material, and bone tissue engineering. It is well known that HAp has a good biocompatibility and osteoconductivity, so HAp can be used in biomedical applications. Hydroxyapatite can be combined with other materials, in particular polymer, to expand its range of applications. In this study, the polymer that will be used as a support for the HAp composite is alginate (Alg). The HAp/Alg composite has been synthesized by the precipitation method. The XRD results show that the crystal system of HAp was hexagonal. The spheric-like shaped particles can be observed from SEM images, and particle size distribution spread from 400 to 1100 nm. The EDS spectrum exhibited the peak of Ca, C, P, and O elements, indicating that alginate had interacted with hydroxyapatite in the synthesized composite. The as-fabricated composite showed not only good crystallinity but also high thermal resistance. Thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA) revealed that the HAp/Alg composites have a constant weight at 750 °C, so it might be applied in advanced applications such as bioimaging, drug carrier, and other cancer treatments.

Abstract
The present work reports the synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HAp) via the green chemistry approach by using the leaf extract of copper pod tree and its adsorptive potential to remove Acid blue 113 (AB113) dye. FESEM-EDS characterization of the synthesized HAp confirmed rod-shaped HAp with prominent Ca and P elements. The crystallinity of HAp was ascertained by XRD and thermal stability was analyzed by TGA. The colloidal suspension stability was determined as - 17.7 mV by Zeta potential analyzer. The mesoporous structure was affirmed via BET studies with a high magnitude of specific surface area. TEM studies substantiated the rod-shaped HAp as observed in FESEM. The signals specific to HAp were observed in XPS studies. Adsorption of AB113 on the synthesized HAp was examined by varying the process parameters. Batch experiments resulted in an optimum dye removal of 92.72% at a pH of 8, 1 g/L of CP-HAp nps dosage, 20 ppm AB113 concentration, 120 min contact time, 150 rpm agitation speed and at room temperature. The maximum adsorption capacity reached 120.48 mg/g. Multifarious isotherms characterized the adsorption with Freundlich isotherm (R2 > 0.968) dominating Langmuir indicating multilayer adsorption. The experimental data reasonably matched pseudo-second-order kinetics with R2 exceeding 0.99. Thermodynamic investigations underlined the spontaneity and exothermicity of the processes. Results showed the suitability of the HAp nanoadsorbent to remove AB113 from wastestreams.

Abstract
In this work, a comparative study of different Magnesium ions content was incorporated into hydroxyapatite (HAP) modified with selenite ions aiming to develop the degradation performance of methylene blue. Although the dopant metal (Mg2+ ) has a relatively low ratio, it makes a change in microstructure, morphology, surface area, external surface charge, particle size, and degradation performance. The effect of magnesium and selenium binary doping on microstructural and degradation of methylene blue has been evaluated. The external surface charge measured by zeta potential clarified that the highest negativity was -11.8 mV and it was accomplished in 1.0Mg/Se-HAP. Also, the roughness average grew from 36.8 nm reaching 59.2 nm upon the additional Mg (II). Moreover, TEM micrographs showed that compositions were formed in rod shapes. The process of degradation are optimized, showing effectiveness in methylene blue (MB) degradation of 62.4 % after 150 min of exposure to visible light. Electrostatic attraction and H-bonding and coordination have a vital role in the adsorption process. The recyclability of the as-prepared compositions exhibited that the effectiveness has been reduced to be about 54.2 % after five times of re-using.

Abstract
Even in the first quarter of the XXI century, the presence of organic dyes in wastewaters was a normal occurrence in a series of countries. As these compounds are toxic, their removal from these waters is a necessity. Among the separation technologies, adsorption processing appeared as one of the most widely used to reach this goal. The present work reviewed the most recent approaches (first half of the 2021 year) regarding the use of a variety of adsorbents in the removal of a variety of organic dyes of different natures.

Abstract
In this study, an easily magnetically recoverable polydopamine (PDA)-modified hydroxyapatite (HAp)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite (HAp/Fe3O4/PDA) was suitably synthesized to exploit its adsorption capacity to remove Zn2+ from aqueous solution, and its structural properties were thoroughly examined using different analytical techniques. The effect of multiple parameters like pH, ultrasonic power, ultrasonic time, adsorbent dose, and initial Zn2+ concentration on the adsorption efficiency was assessed using RSM-CCD. According to the acquired results, by increasing the adsorbent quantity, ultrasonic power, ultrasonic time, and pH, the Zn2+ adsorption efficiency increased and the interaction between the variables of ultrasonic power/Zn2+ concentration, pH/Zn2+ concentration, pH/absorbent dose, and ultrasonic time/adsorbent dose has a vital role in the Zn2+ adsorption. The uptake process of Zn2+ onto PDA/HAp/Fe3O4 followed Freundlich and pseudo-second order kinetic models. The maximum capacity of Zn2+ adsorption (q m) obtained by PDA/HAp/Fe3O4, HAp/Fe3O4, and HAp was determined as 46.37 mg g-1, 40.07 mg g-1, and 37.57 mg g-1, respectively. Due to its good performance and recoverability (ten times), the HAp/Fe3O4/PDA magnetic composite can be proposed as a good candidate to eliminate Zn2+ ions from a water solution.
