Abstract
BACKGROUND Migraine is widely recognized as the third most prevalent medical condition globally. Tianshu capsule (TSC), derived from "Da Chuan Xiong Fang" of the Jin dynasty, is integral in the clinical treatment of migraine. However, the chemical properties and therapeutic mechanisms of TSC different portions remain unclear. PURPOSE This study was designed to investigate the effects of TSC different portions (including small molecular TSCP-SM and polysaccharides TSC-P) on migraine and explore the underlying mechanisms. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS First of all, migraine rats were established by nitroglycerin injection and treated with TSC, TSC-P, and TSC-SM. ELISA, qPCR, and immunofluorescence were used to evaluate the pharmacological effects on migraine rats. Secondly, UPLC-Q/TOF-MS and GC--MS were employed to detect the components of TSC-SM. PMP-HPLC, NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, AFM, and SEM were used for the chemical profiling of polysaccharides. Thirdly, the metabolic behavior profile of TSC-P was characterized by oral administrated fluorescence-labeled TSC-P and detected by NIRF imaging. Finally, the anti-migraine mechanisms were explored by determining the composition of gut microbiota, analyzing colonic short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), and examining serum tryptophan-related metabolites. RESULTS Both small molecules (45 volatiles and 114 small molecules) and polysaccharides (including Glc, Ara, Gal, and Gal A) have exhibited effectiveness in alleviating migraine, and this efficacy is associated with reduced CGRP and iNOS levels, along with increased β-EP expressions. Further mechanistic exploration revealed that small-molecules exhibited effectiveness in migraine treatment by exerting antioxidative actions, while polysaccharides demonstrated superior therapeutic effects in regulating 5-HT levels. By monitoring the metabolic behavior of polysaccharides with fluorescent labeling, it was observed that TSC-P exhibited poor absorption. Instead, TSC-P demonstrated its therapeutic effects by modulating the aberrations in gut microbiota (including Alloprevotella, Muribaculaceae_ge, and Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005), cecum short-chain fatty acids (such as isobutyric, isovaleric, and valeric acids), and serum tryptophan-related metabolites (including indole-3-acetamide, tryptophol, and indole-3-propionic acid). CONCLUSION This research provides innovative insights into chemical composition, metabolic behavior, and proposed anti-migraine mechanisms of TSC from a polarity-based perspective, and pioneering an exploration focused on the polysaccharide components within TSC for the first time.

Abstract
Commercially available mushroom polysaccharides have found widespread use as adjuvant tumor treatments. However, the bioactivity of polysaccharides in Lactarius hatsudake Tanaka (L. hatsudake), a mushroom with both edible and medicinal uses, remains relatively unexplored. To address this gap, five L. hatsudake polysaccharides with varying molecular weights were isolated, named LHP-1 (898 kDa), LHP-2 (677 kDa), LHP-3 (385 kDa), LHP-4 (20 kDa), and LHP-5 (4.9 kDa). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and atomic force microscopy, etc., were employed to determine their structural characteristics. The results confirmed that spherical aggregates with amorphous flexible fiber chains dominated the conformation of the LHP. LHP-1 and LHP-2 were identified as glucans with α-(1,4)-Glcp as the main chain; LHP-3 and LHP-4 were classified as galactans with varying molecular weights but with α-(1,6)-Galp as the main chain; LHP-5 was a glucan with β-(1,3)-Glcp as the main chain and β-(1,6)-Glcp connecting to the side chains. Significant differences were observed in inhibiting tumor cell cytotoxicity and the antioxidant activity of the LHPs, with LHP-5 and LHP-4 identified as the principal bioactive components. These findings provide a theoretical foundation for the valuable use of L. hatsudake and emphasize the potential application of LHPs in therapeutic tumor treatments.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Gastrodia elata Blume is a traditional Chinese medicine with the effects of improving the deficiency of the body and maintaining health, and polysaccharide (GEP) is one of the effective ingredients to play these activities of G. elata. Traditionally, G. elata is orally administered, so the activities of GEP are associated with digestive and intestinal metabolism. However, the digestive behavior of GEP and its effects on the human gut microbiota are unclear and need to be fully studied. AIM OF THE STUDY This study aimed to investigate the changes in structural characteristics of GEP during digestion and the related impacts of its digestive product on gut microbiota in human fecal fermentation, and to explain the beneficial mechanism of GEP on human health from the perspective of digestive characteristics and "gut" axis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The changes of reducing sugars, free monosaccharides and physicochemical properties of GEP during digestion were investigated by GPC, HPLC, FT-IR, CD, NMR, SEM, and TGA. Moreover, polysaccharide consumption, pH value changes, SCFAs production, and changes in gut microbiota during fermentation were also discussed. RESULTS During digestion of GEP, glucose was partially released causing a decrease in molecular weight, and a change in monosaccharide composition. In addition, the characteristics of GEP before and after digestion, including configuration, morphology, and stability, were different. The digestive product of GEP was polysaccharide (GEP-I), which actively participated in the fecal fermentation process. As the fermentation time increased, the utilization of GEP-I by the microbiota gradually increased. The abundance of probiotics such as Bifidobacterium, Collinsella, Prevotella, and Faecalibacterium was significantly increased, and the abundance of pathogenic Shigella, Dorea, Desulfovibrio, and Blautia was significantly inhibited, thereby suggesting that GEP has the potential to maintain human health through the "gut" axis. In addition, the beneficial health effects of GEP-I have also been observed in the influence of microbial metabolites. During the fermentation of GEP-I, the pH value gradually decreased, and the contents of beneficial metabolites such as acetic acid, propionic acid, and caproic acid significantly increased. CONCLUSION The structure of GEP changed significantly during digestion, and its digestive product had the potential to maintain human health by regulating gut microbiota, which may be one of the active mechanisms of GEP.

Abstract
Polysaccharides have been widely used in the development of natural drugs and health food. However, polysaccharide characterization lags due to inherently complicated features and the limitations of existing detection approaches. We aimed to provide new insight into the fine structure and conformational visualization of polysaccharides from Gastrodia elata Blume, a medicinal and edible plant. A water-soluble polysaccharide (GEP2-6) with the high molecular weight of 2.7 × 106 Da was first obtained, and its purity reached 99.2 %. Chemical and spectroscopic analyses jointly revealed that GEP2-6 was a glucan linked by α-(1 → 4) and α-(1 → 6) glycosidic bonds. After enzymolysis, the local structure of GEP2-6 included α-1,4-Glcp, α-1,6-Glcp, α-1,4,6-Glcp, and α-1-Glcp at a molar ratio of 31.27∶1.32∶1.08∶0.93. The glycosidic linkage pattern of repeating units was further simulated by a glycan database and spatial examination software. The good dissolution performance was interpreted by dynamics simulation and practical molecular characteristics. Spherical flexible chains and the porous stable conformation were corroborated using atomic force microscopy. In addition, GEP2-6 could effectively scavenge DPPH and hydroxyl radicals as a promising natural antioxidant. These efforts will contribute to the expansion of clinical applications of this G. elata polysaccharide and the structural elucidation for macromolecular polysaccharides combined with traditional and modern analysis techniques.

Abstract
A new polysaccharide (SPT1) was isolated from Sabia parviflora Wall. ex Roxb., and the structure was identified by GPC, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, SEM and AFM. The results showed that the average molecular weight (Mn) of SPT1 was 4.057 × 103 Da, and it was composed of α-glucose with a connection mode of 1→6. The SEM showed that the particle size of SPT1 was 1-200 μm and there were small gaps between the crystals. SPT1 was mainly spherical aggregates in AFM, each aggregate was 0.550-0.983 μm long, 1.059-2.275 μm wide and 208-450 nm high. Furthermore, its liver-protective and PTP1B inhibitory activities were evaluated, and the results showed that SPT1 exhibited moderate effects of liver-protective and PTP1B inhibitory activity. The above results provided experimental evidence for the folk application of S. parviflora in the treatment of hepatitis.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common, chronic, and progressive degenerative disease of the central nervous system for which there is no effective treatment. Gastrodia elata is a well-known food and medicine homologous resource with neuroprotective potential. Gastrodia elata polysaccharide (GEP), which is a highly active and safe component in Gastrodia elata, is an important ingredient in the development of functional products. In this study, GEP was administered to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mice over 3 weeks to investigate its neuroprotective effects. The results showed that GEP significantly alleviated the motor dysfunction of PD mice, inhibited the accumulation of α-synuclein, and reduced the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the brain. Moreover, GEP increased the Bcl-2/Bax ratio and decreased the cleaved-caspase-3 level, suggesting that GEP may ameliorate PD by preventing MPTP-induced mitochondrial apoptosis. GEP also significantly inhibited the increase of GFAP and decreased the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in the brain of PD mice, which may be the result of the inhibition of neuroinflammation by the inactivation of the TLR4/NF-κB pathway. Furthermore, the neuroprotective effects of GEP involve the gut-brain axis, as it has been shown that GEP regulated the dysbiosis of PD-related gut microbiota such as Akkermansia, Lactobacillus, Bacteroides, Prevotella, and Faecalibacterium, increased the content of microbial metabolites SCFAs in the colon and increased the level of occludin that repairs the intestinal barrier of PD mice. In conclusion, this study is expected to provide a theoretical basis for the development and application of functional products with GEP from the perspective of neuroprotective effects.

Abstract
Thelephora ganbajun exopolysaccharides (TGEP) with a "coral-like" branched chain structure (main chain diameter ∼ 80 nm) were prepared by liquid fermentation and fractionated by ion-exchange chromatography. The main fraction (TGEP-2) with the highest in vitro antioxidant capacity was composed of Glc, Man, Gal, GalA, GlcA, Ara, Rha, GlcN, Fuc and Rib in a molar ratio of 465.43:420.43:219.14:188.43:37:35.14:31.43:19.43:11.14:1, with a molecular weight of 1.879 × 104 Da. The sequence of monosaccharide residue release revealed that Gal, Glc and Ara residues were more distributed in the side-branch chains and at their ends, whereas Man and GalA residues were more distributed in the main chains. TGEP-2 contained linear residues (mainly →4)-Glcp-(1 → and →4)-Manp-(1→), branch residues (→3,6)-Glcp-(1→, →4,6)-Glcp-(1 → and →3,6)-Galp-(1→) and terminal residues (Galp-(1→, Manp-(1 → and Glcp-(1→). TGEP-2 consisted of α- and β-glycosidically linked pyranosides, with a triple helical conformation and many long branches. Zebrafish oxidative stress and inflammation models found that TGEP-2 had antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The zebrafish skin black spot assay showed that TGEP-2 inhibited melanin formation. Therefore, extracellular polysaccharides of T. ganbajun have strong application potential in anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin spot-fading functions cosmetics.

Abstract
Medicinal and edible homologs (MEHs) can be used in medicine and food. The National Health Commission announced that a total of 103 kinds of medicinal and edible homologous plants (MEHPs) would be available by were available in 2023. Diabetes mellitus (DM) has become the third most common chronic metabolic disease that seriously threatens human health worldwide. Polysaccharides, the main component isolated from MEHPs, have significant antidiabetic effects with few side effects. Based on a literature search, this paper summarizes the preparation methods, structural characterization, and antidiabetic functions and mechanisms of MEHPs polysaccharides (MEHPPs). Specifically, MEHPPs mainly regulate PI3K/Akt, AMPK, cAMP/PKA, Nrf2/Keap1, NF-κB, MAPK and other signaling pathways to promote insulin secretion and release, improve glycolipid metabolism, inhibit the inflammatory response, decrease oxidative stress and regulate intestinal flora. Among them, 16 kinds of MEHPPs were found to have obvious anti-diabetic effects. This article reviews the prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications by MEHPPs and provides a basis for the development of safe and effective MEHPP-derived health products and new drugs to prevent and treat diabetes.

Abstract
Polysaccharides (TCMPs) derived from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), such as Ganoderma lucidum, Astragalus membranaceus, Lycium barbarum, and Panax ginseng, are considered to be the main active constituents in TCMs. However, the significant pharmacological effects of orally administered TCMPs do not align well with their poor pharmacokinetics. This article aims to review the literature published mainly from 2010 to 2022, focusing on the relationship between pharmacokinetics and pharmacological effects. It has been found that unabsorbed TCMPs can exert local pharmacological effects in the gut, including anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, regulation of intestinal flora, modulation of intestinal immunity, and maintenance of intestinal barrier integrity. Unabsorbed TCMPs can also produce systemic pharmacological effects, such as anti-tumor activity and immune system modulation, by regulating intestinal flora and immunity. Conversely, some TCMPs can be absorbed and distributed to various tissues, especially the liver, where they exhibit tissue-protecting effects against inflammation and oxidative stress-induced damage and improve glucose and lipid metabolism. In future studies, it is important to improve quality control and experimental design. Furthermore, research on enhancing the oral bioavailability of TCMPs, exploring the activity of TCMP metabolites, investigating pharmacokinetic interactions between TCMPs and oral drugs, and developing oral drug delivery systems using TCMPs holds great significance.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Gastrodia elata Bl. (GE) is one of the rare Chinese medicinal materials with a long history of medicine and cooking. It consists of a variety of chemical components, including aromatic compounds, organic acids and esters, steroids, saccharides and their glycosides, etc., which has medicinal and edible value, and is widely used in various diseases, such as infantile convulsions, epilepsy, tetanus, headache, dizziness, limb numbness, rheumatism and arthralgia. It is also commonly used in health care products and cosmetics. Thus, its chemical composition and pharmacological activity have attracted more and more attention from the scientific community. AIM In this review, the processing methods, phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of GE were comprehensively and systematically summarized, which provides a valuable reference for researchers the rational of GE. MATERIALS AND METHODS A comprehensive search of published literature and classic books from 1958 to 2023 was conducted using online bibliographic databases PubMed, Google Scholar, ACS, Science Direct Database, CNKI and others to identify original research related to GE, its processing methods, active ingredients and pharmacological activities. RESULTS GE is traditionally used to treat infantile convulsion, epilepsy, tetanus, headache, dizziness, limb numbness, rheumatism and arthralgia. To date, more than 435 chemical constituents were identified from GE including 276 chemical constituents, 72 volatile components and 87 synthetic compounds, which are the primary bioactive compounds. In addition, there are other biological components, such as organic acids and esters, steroids and adenosines. These extracts have nervous system and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system activities such as sedative-hypnotic, anticonvulsant, antiepileptic, neuron protection and regeneration, analgesia, antidepressant, antihypertensive, antidiabetic, antiplatelet aggregation, anti-inflammatory, etc. CONCLUSION: This review summarizes the processing methods, chemical composition, pharmacological activities, and molecular mechanism of GE over the last 66 years, which provides a valuable reference for researchers to understand its research status and applications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of malignant tumors and autoimmune diseases. However, it can cause immunosuppression and damage the intestinal mucosa. The development of new agents to counteract these side effects is becoming increasingly important. Previous studies have shown that the polysaccharides from Gastrodia elata (GEPs) have strong immune-enhancing effects; however, their functions regarding the intestines and the underlying mechanism are still unclear. In this study, the effects of GEPs on immunomodulatory activity, intestinal barrier function, and gut microbiota regulation were investigated in a mouse model of CTX-induced immunosuppression. RESULTS Gastrodia elata polysaccharides attenuated the CTX-induced decrease in organ indices of the thymus and spleen, and promoted the secretion of immune-related cytokines and immunoglobulins in the serum. They also improved the intestinal pathology and restored the intestinal barrier function by elevating the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins, occludin and ZO-1. Moreover, GEPs restored the composition and abundance of the gut microbiota and increased the short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) content in the colon. The abundance of SCFA-producing bacteria (Muribaculaceae, Prevotellaceae, and Bacteroidaceae) also increased. CONCLUSIONS Gastrodia elata polysaccharides can effectively alleviate immunosuppression and regulate the intestinal barrier integrity and the structure of gut microbiota in CTX-treated mice. They may be used as ingredients to develop functional foods for intestinal health. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
An arabinogalactan named JSP-1a was isolated from Jasmine tea processing waste by DEAE Sepharose FF and Sephacryl S-200 HR chromatography. Polysaccharide JSP-1a, with an average molecular weight of 87.5 kDa, was composed of galactose (59.60 %), arabinose (33.89 %), mannose (4.81 %), and rhamnose (1.70 %). JSP-1a was found to be a type II arabinogalactan comprising the main backbone of 1, 6-linked Galp residues, and the side chain containing α-T-Araf, α-1,5-Araf, β-T-Galp, β-1,3-Galp, and β-1,4-Manp residues was attached to the O-3 position of β-1,3,6-Galp residues. Evidence from bioactivity assays indicated that JSP-1a possessed potent immunomodulatory effects on RAW264.7 macrophages: treatment with JSP-1a increased phagocytosis, activated NF-κB p65 translocation, and promoted the production of NO, reactive oxygen species (ROS), the tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interleukin (IL)-6. Furthermore, inhibition of Toll-like receptor 4 caused the suppression of NO release and cytokines secretion, which indicated that TLR-4/NF-κB pathway might play a significant role in JSP-1a-induced macrophages' immune response. The results of this study could provide a theoretical basis of JSP-1a as a safe immunostimulatory functional foods or a treatment for immunological diseases.

Abstract
A polysaccharide from Gastrodia elata (named GEP-1) was isolated with a DEAE-52 column and Sephadex G-100 column. The structural characteristics showed that GEP-1 was mainly composed of glucose (92.04%), galactose (4.79%) and arabinose (2.19%) with a molecular weight of 76.444 kDa. The polydispersity (Mw/Mn) of GEP-1 was 1.25, indicating that the distribution of molar mass (Mw) was relatively narrow, which suggested that GEP-1 was a homogeneous polysaccharide. Moreover, the molecular conformation plot of the root mean square (RMS) radius (<rg2> 1/2) versus Mw yielded a line with a slope less than 0.33 (0.15 ± 0.02), displaying that GEP-1 is a compact and curly spherical molecule in NaNO3 aqueous solution. NMR and methylation analyses revealed that the main chain structure of GEP-1 was α-(1→4)-glucans. Furthermore, it was proven that GEP-1 possessed cytoproliferative and enhancing phagocytic activities and induced cytokine (TNF-α, IL1-β) and nitric oxide (NO) release in macrophages by upregulating the related gene expression. In addition, the RNA-seq results suggested that the GEP-1-induced immunomodulatory effect was mainly caused by activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, which was further verified by NF-κB ELISA and pathway inhibition assays. As a result, GEP-1 exhibits the potential to be developed as a novel cheap immunostimulant without obvious toxicity.

Abstract
Sea urchin nowadays serves as a delicacy around the world, and its gonads accumulate abundant polysaccharides before gametogenesis. However, the structure and bioactivity of these polysaccharides remain less well understood. Herein, a water soluble polysaccharide (HPP-1S) with a molecular weight of 2.996 × 107 Da was purified from the gonads of Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus. Chemical, spectroscopic and oligosaccharide sequencing analyses revealed that HPP-1S was a highly homogeneous polysaccharide featuring a linear backbone of 1,4-linked α-d-glucose with 1,6-α-d-glucose and 1,6-α-D-glucuronic acid side chains grafted on the backbone in an alternating pattern. In vitro, HPP-1S can arrest the cell cycle at G2/M and sub-G1 phases, and induce apoptosis in Hela cells potentially by increasing expression ratio of Bax/Bcl-2. In vivo, HPP-1S exhibited obvious antitumor efficacy in Hela xenograft-bearing nude mice with low toxicity. These findings indicated that HPP-1S might serve as a potential low toxic antitumor agent.

Abstract
Two novel exopolysaccharides, named LPB8-0 and LPB8-1, were isolated and purified from Lactiplantibacillus pentosus B8. Moreover, their structure and bioactivities were evaluated through chemical and spectral means. The study results demonstrated that LPB8-0 was primarily composed of mannose and glucose and had an average molecular weight of 1.12 × 104 Da, while LPB8-1 was composed of mannose, glucose, and galactose and had an average molecular weight of 1.78 × 105 Da. Their carbohydrate contents were 96.2% ± 1.0% and 99.1% ± 0.5%, respectively. The backbone of LPB8-1 was composed of (1→2)-linked α-D-Manp and (1→6)-linked α-D-Manp. LPB8-0 and LPB8-1 had semicrystalline structures with good thermal stability (308.3 and 311.7 °C, respectively). SEM results displayed that both LPB8-0 and LPB8-1 had irregular thin-slice shapes and spherical body structures. Additionally, an emulsifying ability assay confirmed that LPB8-0 and LPB8-1 had good emulsifying activity against several edible oils, and this activity was retained under acidic, neutral, and high temperature conditions. Furthermore, an antioxidant assay confirmed that LPB8-1 had stronger scavenging activity than LPB8-0. Overall, these results provide a theoretical basis for the potential application of these two novel exopolysaccharides as natural antioxidants and emulsifiers in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Abstract
An arabinogalactoglucan SBP-1 was purified from Scutellaria baicalensis by DEAE-52 and Sephadex G-100 column chromatography. The structure of SBP-1 was characterized using HPLC, IR, GC-MS, 1-D and 2-D NMR. The antioxidant and hypoglycemic activity of SBP-1 was investigated by vitro evaluation. The results showed that SBP-1 was composed of arabinose, glucose and galactose in a molar ratio of 1.0:5.9:1.1 and its Mw were 91,156. The backbone of SBP-1 was mainly composed of repeating →1)-α-D-Glcp-(4 → 1)-α-D-Glcp-(3 → 1)-α-D-Galp-(4→. The braches were composed of →2)-α-L-Araf-(1→, →3)-β-D-Glcp-(1→ and α-D-Glcp-(1→, which mainly substituted at O-6 of Glc, while terminal residue was α-L-Araf-(1→ and α-D-Glcp-(1→. Vitro bioactivity showed that SBP-1 had dose-dependent antioxidant and hypoglycemic activity. The scavenging rate on ABTS, DPPH, hydroxyl and superoxide radicals was all beyond 60% as SBP-1 concentration reached 4 mg/mL, and the inhibition rate on α-glucosidase and α-amylase was both more than 80%, which was closely to that of acarbose.

Abstract
Akkermansia muciniphila is well known for the amelioration of inflammatory responses and restoration of intestinal barrier function. The beneficial effect of A. muciniphila occurred through contacting Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) on intestinal epithelial cells by wall components. In this case, the downstream mechanism of pasteurized A. muciniphila stimulating TLR2 for ameliorated intestinal barrier function is worth investigating. In this study, we evaluated the effect of live and pasteurized A. muciniphila on protecting the barrier dysfunction of Caco-2 intestinal epithelial cells induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). We discovered that both live and pasteurized A. muciniphila could attenuate an inflammatory response and improve intestinal barrier integrity in Caco-2 monolayers. We demonstrated that A. muciniphila enhances AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation and inhibits Nuclear Factor-Kappa B (NF-κB) activation through the stimulation of TLR2. Overall, we provided a specific mechanism for the probiotic effect of A. muciniphila on the intestinal barrier function of Caco-2 cells.

Abstract
The present study elucidated the structural characteristics and anti-inflammatory activity of a novel polysaccharide isolated from Orostachys fimbriata, which is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant. O. fimbriata polysaccharide (OFP) was extracted and subsequently purified by chromatography using a DEAE cellulose-52 and Sephadex G-75 column. The molecular weight was determined as 6.2 kDa. HPGPC and monosaccharide composition analysis revealed a homogeneous polysaccharide containing only Glc. Chromatography and spectral analysis showed that the possible chemical structure consisted of →4)-α-Glcp-(1→ and a small quantity of →4,6)-β-Glcp-(1→ in the main chain and →6)-β-Glcp-(1→, α-Glcp-(1→, and β-Glcp-(1→ in the side chain. Morphological analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) indicated that OFP had a multi-branched structure, and the sugar chain molecules of polysaccharide appeared aggregated. OFP was found to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity by reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors in RAW264.7 cells and by decreasing the extent of xylene-induced ear swelling in mice.
