Abstract
Background Postpartum fatigue (PPF) can impair the physical and mental well-being of women. The aims of this study were to assess the associations between fatigue and maternal health-related variables, specifically, sleep quality, depression symptoms, and resilience, and to explore the moderating role of resilience in the relationships between sleep quality, depression symptoms, and fatigue. Methods This cross-sectional study used data collected from mothers during the postpartum period via an online platform. PPF was assessed using the Fatigue Severity Scale, whereas sleep quality and depression symptoms were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, respectively. The Brief Resilience Scale was used to assess resilience. Simple and multiple binary logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the association of each independent variable with PPF and to determine the most significant predictors of PFF. The data were analyzed using SPSS, and structural equation modeling was performed using AMOS 23. A moderation analysis was performed to explore the moderating role of resilience using the Hayes PROCESS macro. Results A total of 1,443 postpartum mothers were included in the analysis. The simple binary logistic regression analysis showed that having chronic disease (odds: 1.52; p = 0.02), mother's age (odds: 0.97; p = 0.03), mother's body mass index (BMI; odds: 1.03; p = 0.01), depression symptoms (odds: 1.09; p ≤ 0.0001), sleep quality (odds: 1.17; p ≤ 0.0001), and resilience (odds: 0.42; p ≤ 0.0001) all contributed to fatigue during postpartum. Multivariate logistic regression showed that the mother's BMI, sleep quality, depression symptoms, and resilience were significant predictors of PPF. Moderation analyses showed that resilience was not a significant moderator between the main effects of sleep quality and fatigue (interaction effect: β = 0.01, p = 0.31, 95% CI: -0.01 to 0.04) or between the main effects of depression symptoms and fatigue during postpartum (interaction effect: β = 0.01, p = 0.82, 95% CI: -0.01 to 0.02). Conclusion Given the deleterious effects of PPF on maternal health outcomes, factors associated with PPF should be assessed regularly. In addition to mothers' BMI, sleep quality, and depression symptoms, resilience could also be a crucial factor in predicting fatigue severity during this critical time for mothers even though it was not a significant moderator among this sample.

Abstract
Nurses' psychological resilience has been studied using a variable-centered rather than a person-centered approach, impeding a comprehensive understanding of the holistic expression of these different forms of psychological resilience. This study aimed to examine the characteristics of psychological resilience in a sample of Chinese nurses during COVID-19 using latent profile analysis (LPA) and the relationships between these unique profiles and nurses' work fatigue. A total of 471 Chinese nurses were recruited from three hospitals in Hebei Province between June and July 2020. The participant samples were investigated with the psychological resilience scale and the work fatigue inventory. LPA showed that a three-profile model of psychological resilience best fit this study. The resulting profiles were low psychological resilience, medium psychological resilience, and high psychological resilience. Notably, there were significant differences in nurses' work fatigue among different profiles of psychological resilience. The study provided a new view of nurses' psychological resilience, which may be used to effectively reduce nurses' work fatigue and evaluate nursing work status comprehensively.

Abstract
AIMS The aims of this study were as follows: (a) to examine the relationship between perceived organizational support and resilience; (b) to investigate the potential mediating role of general self-efficacy and cognitive reappraisal among emergency nurses who have experienced workplace violence; and (c) to explore the application of Kumpfer's resilience framework to emergency department nurses. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. METHODS From February 17, 2021, to March 8, 2021, 825 emergency nurses working in the emergency departments of tertiary hospitals in Shanghai, China, completed an online survey. Data on resilience, organizational support, cognitive reappraisal and general self-efficacy were collected through questionnaires. The Spearman analysis was employed to investigate the relationship between variables, while the mediation analysis was conducted using AMOS 23.0 statistical software. RESULTS The findings of a study involving 825 emergency nurses who reported experiencing workplace violence reveal a positive correlation between perceived organizational support and resilience. Additionally, it has been observed that the relationship between these two factors is mediated by both cognitive reappraisal and general self-efficacy. Furthermore, the mediating effect of cognitive reappraisal is more significant in this relationship. CONCLUSION Kumpfer's resilience framework is found to apply to emergency nurses. Perceived organizational support, an environmental factor, affects resilience directly and positively. In addition, cognitive reappraisal and general self-efficacy, which are individual factors, mediate this influence path. These findings suggest an interaction between environmental and individual factors in determining the resilience of emergency nurses. IMPACT These findings have implications for developing resilience intervention strategies for emergency nurses exposed to occupational violence. Enhancing personal attributes such as general self-efficacy and cognitive reappraisal is as significant as strengthening external organizational support environments for enhancing nurses' resilience. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION Emergency nurses participated in the pilot test of our questionnaire survey and gave their opinions on the questionnaire design. SUMMARY STATEMENT What is already known about the topic? In emergency rooms, workplace violence is prevalent, and it seriously endangers nurses' physical and mental health. Enhancing resilience can improve nurses' ability to self-regulate after experiencing violence. However, the drivers and mechanisms of resilience among emergency nurses who have experienced workplace violence remain unidentified. What this paper adds? This study confirms the applicability of Kumpfer's resilience framework to emergency nurses who have experienced workplace violence. Nurses' self-efficacy and cognitive reappraisal mediate the relationship between perceived organizational support and resilience after exposure to workplace violence. The resilience process for emergency nurses involves the interaction of individual and environmental factors. Implications for practice/policy. Managers and researchers should consider the interaction between individual and environmental factors when developing resilience intervention strategies for emergency nurses who have suffered workplace violence. It is essential to support emergency nurses from the dyadic dimensions of the environment and the individual. A supportive organizational environment and individual positive adjustment strategies are equally important in promoting resilience among nurses.

Abstract
Organizational resilience is a key concept in the study of sustainable corporate growth and indicates an organization's capacity to recover from adversity. It plays a crucial role in responding to uncertain crises. In recent years, academic interest in organizational resilience has increasingly gained prominence. This research uses CiteSpace and VOSviewer to provide a thorough visual analysis of pertinent international literature based on 342 pieces of closely linked literature about organizational resilience. The findings suggest that organizational resilience research is currently experiencing a development phase. Within this field, there is a substantial number of scholars involved, with the most prolific among them including Aleksic Aleksandar, Prayag Girish, and Griffiths Andrew. The networks of collaboration among these authors, nevertheless, are very scattered. Co-citation network research reveals the academics with the biggest sway in the field. Organizational resilience, conservation of resources theory, crisis management, corporate social responsibility, and emergency management are identified as research hotspots within the keyword co-citation network. Furthermore, to determine which countries and regions are the most influential, this study has created a cooperative network among them. China, the United States, and England are the top three nations with articles published. Not only are the highly cited journals respected in the management sector, but they also showcase noteworthy research accomplishments within the field. The purpose of this study is to investigate potential avenues for future research and offer helpful sources for choosing research subjects and developing theoretical frameworks in this area. The analysis is highly valuable as a reference for research on organizational resilience in different settings in the future.

Abstract
Introduction Despite the rapid growth of interdisciplinary resilience research in Chinese contexts, no study has systematically reviewed individual-level measurement scales for Chinese-speaking populations. We report a systematic review of scales developed for or translated/adapted to Chinese-speaking contexts, where we assessed how widely used scales fare in terms of their psychometric qualities. Methods Studies included in this review must have been published in peer-reviewed English or Chinese journals between 2015-2020 and included self-reported resilience scales in Chinese-speaking populations. Searches were conducted in PsycINFO, CNKI (completed in May 2021), and PubMed (completed in January 2024). We developed coding schemes for extracting relevant data and adapted and applied an existing evaluation framework to assess the most frequently used resilience scales by seven methodological criteria. Results Analyses of 963 qualified studies suggested that Chinese resilience scales were used in a diverse range of study contexts. Among 85 unique kinds of resilience measures, we highlighted and evaluated the three most frequently used translated scales and three locally developed scales (nine scales in total including variations such as short forms). In short, resilience studies in Chinese contexts relied heavily on the translated 25-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, which scored moderately on the overall quality. The locally developed Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents and Essential Resilience Scale received the best ratings but could use further development. Discussion We discussed how future work may advance widely used scales, and specified seven methodological recommendations for future resilience scale development with existing and new scales in and beyond the Chinese study contexts. We further addressed issues and challenges in measuring resilience as a process and called on researchers to further develop/evaluate process measures for Chinese-speaking populations.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the mediating roles of occupational resilience and the moderationg role of perceived organizational support in the relationship between career calling and nurse burnout. BACKGROUND Burnout is a frequent and serious problem in the field of nursing, and it poses a serious threat to both nurses' health and patient safety. Although many studies have described the links between burnout, career calling, and occupational resilience, little is known about the actual mechanisms between career calling and nurse burnout. METHODS A cross-sectional study of 615 nurses in China was conducted using a convenience sampling method. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation models and bootstrapping methods. STROBE guidelines were followed. RESULTS Career calling was found to be negatively associated with nurse burnout, and occupational resilience mediated the relationship between career calling and burnout. Additionally, perceived organizational support was found to play a moderating role in the relationship between occupational resilience and burnout. CONCLUSION Career calling can reduce burnout by increasing nurses' levels of occupational resilience, and perceived organizational support moderates this mechanism. Hence, policies focused on encouraging and sustaining career calling should be provided by nurse managers in order to enhance stress resistance and reduce burnout.

Abstract
Object With the aim of enhancing prevention and regional control of epidemics, the mental health status of medical personnel was analyzed before the implementation of closed-loop management during the COVID-19 pandemic in the regional hospital representative. Methods In accordance with directives from the unified deployment of the national and regional health bureaus, and following the inclusion and exclusion criteria, from September 2021 to November 2022, all medical personnel assigned to a closed-loop working environment by Guangzhou Panyu Central Hospital were enrolled as research subjects through cluster sampling method. Using a cross-sectional survey method, relevant data such as age, gender, professional title, and mental health status were collected. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) scale, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale, and the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) scale were administered. Logistic regression analysis was used to study the influencing factors of depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Single factor logistic regression analysis was performed first, followed by multiple factor logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 500 valid responses were received. Depression was reported by a higher proportion of physicians than nurses. Anxiety was reported by higher proportion of men than women and by a higher proportion of physicians than nurses. Medical personnel under the age of 30 years reported fewer symptoms of insomnia than those over the age of 41 years, and medical personnel with intermediate professional titles reported more severe symptoms of insomnia than junior personnel. There was no significant difference between the results of the three questionnaires for medical personnel from other hospital departments or in the different type of closed-loop work environments. Conclusion During the pandemic, conducting psychological health assessments for medical personnel undergoing pre-job training in closed-loop management was beneficial for the timely detection of psychological problems. Although this study only conducted a cluster sampling survey and lacked comparative analysis on other medical institutions, it still suggested that it was necessary to strengthen timely psychological counseling and intervention for senior male physicians.

Abstract
Work stress and anxiety are major problems faced by graduate nursing students. Research on the relationships between these factors has the potential to improve the psychological state of graduate nursing students. This study gathered a valid sample of 321 graduate nursing students and performed structural equation modeling and multiple regression to test the proposed research model. The study used the Clinician Work Stress Scale, Psychological Capital Scale, Social Support Rating Scale, and State-Trait Anxiety Scale to survey the sample. Correlation analysis showed that job stress was significantly correlated with psychological capital (r = -0.46, P < .01), social support (r = -0.21, P < .01), and anxiety (r = 0.47, P < .01). Psychological capital (r = -0.56, P < .01) and social support (r = -0.43, P < .01) were significantly correlated with anxiety. The results of the path analysis showed that psychological capital (0.21, 95% confidence interval: 0.19-0.39) and social support (0.07, 95% CI: 0.02-0.15) played a mediating role in the relationship between job stress and anxiety, and the mediating effect accounted for a percentage of the total effect (51.85%). There is a direct relationship between clinical social work stress and anxiety among nursing postgraduates. Anxiety is significantly reduced through the intermediary effects of psychological capital and social support.

Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic not only posed a serious threat to public life and health but also had a serious impact on people's mental health, especially that of medical staff. Perceived social support is an important factor in one's sense of security. Objective Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the goal is to explore the potential mediating role of resilience in the relationship between perceived social support and the sense of security of Chinese medical personnel. Methods The multi-stage proportionally stratified convenience sampling method was adopted to select 4,076 medical professionals from 29 hospitals in Guangdong Province between September 2020 and October 2020. The Sense of Security Scale for Medical Staff, the Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Perceived Social Support Scale were employed in this study. For statistical analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM), the SPSS 23.0 and Amos 24.0 software packages were used. Regression analysis was used to select the control variables to be included in the SEM. SEM analysis was conducted to verify the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between perceived social support and a sense of security. Results Pearson's correlation analysis showed that perceived social support and resilience were positively associated with a sense of security (correlation coefficients range from 0.350 to 0.607, P < 0.01), and perceived social support (correlation coefficients range from 0.398 to 0.589, P < 0.01) was positively associated with resilience. Structural equation modeling revealed that resilience played a partial mediating role in the association between perceived social support and a sense of security (60.3% of the effect of perceived social support on security was direct, and 39.7% of the effect was mediated by resilience). Conclusions Hospital managers should make efforts to develop resilience. Interventions based on resilience should be developed to enhance the perception of social support and strengthen one's sense of security.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aims to examine the association of work-related basic need satisfaction (W-BNS) with doctors' work engagement and explore the mediating role of work motivation and job satisfaction between the two variables. DESIGN This was a cross-sectional study. SETTING The study was conducted in four public grade A tertiary hospitals in China. PARTICIPANTS A total of 1000 doctors were invited to participate; 849 doctors completed questionnaires validly. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES Questionnaires were administered online and offline to collect data, consisting of six parts: social demographic characteristics, work-related characteristics, and scales related to W-BNS, work motivation, job satisfaction and work engagement. One-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis were performed using SPSS, and mediation analysis was carried out via PROCESS macro. RESULTS Our research showed that W-BNS, work motivation, job satisfaction and work engagement were positively correlated. Work engagement was significantly predicted by W-BNS (β=0.15, p<0.001) through motivation at work (β=0.23, p<0.001) and job satisfaction (β=0.44, p<0.001), respectively. Compared with work motivation, the mediating effect of job satisfaction was stronger (95% CI -0.22 to -0.06). CONCLUSION The findings suggest that job satisfaction and work motivation may be important pathways through which doctors' W-BNS may influence their work engagement. In order to maintain and promote doctors' work engagement, hospital administrators should consider strengthening the internal motivation of doctors and improving their job satisfaction.

Abstract
With the immense, short/long-term, and multidirectional effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on work performance, industry activities, and the national/global economy, it has adversely affected employees' psychological well-being due to its elevated stress and anxiety that have substantially affected employee innovation performance (deficiency) (EIP(D)). The goal of this empirical paper is to identify how COVID-19 induces EIPD by examining the mediating role of psychological stress (PS) on the relationship between fear of infection with COVID-19 (FIC) and EIPD based on affective events theory (AET) and the moderating effect of organizational career support (OCS) on the relationship between PS and EIPD. Based on 865 survey responses provided by mid-level managers from Chinese manufacturing firms and the covariance-based structural equation modeling (SEM) technique using AMOS 25, we identified that FIC has a positive relationship with EIPD while PS can fully mediate the link between FIC and EIPD and OCS weakens the positive relationship between PS and EIPD (that is, in the presence of OCS, EIPD decreases despite the presence of PS among the employees). The findings of our empirical study will theoretically and practically contribute to the pandemic-related existing literature by providing an in-depth understanding of these variables. Furthermore, policymakers can also benefit by boosting their EIP from the outcomes revealed and suggestions provided.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hopelessness and insomnia remain growing mental health issues worldwide, their relationship has been neglected by international development policies, especially in the countries with rapidly aging population like China. However, there is little conclusive evidence on the mechanisms through which insomnia severity influences hopelessness. Based on previous research regarding the significant associations among fatigue, social support, insomnia and hopelessness, this study aims to investigate the relationship between insomnia and hopelessness as well as how insomnia affects hopelessness through fatigue and social support. METHODS A population-based data including 946 community-dwelling older adults extracted from "Elderly Care Household Survey in 2019" in Beijing were used. The age of the participants ranged from 66 to 97 years old, and 53.3% of the respondents were female. Intercorrelations among insomnia, fatigue, social support and hopelessness were examined. Serial multiple mediation models were analyzed by the bootstrapping method to assess whether fatigue and social support serially mediate the relationship between insomnia and hopelessness. RESULTS Higher level of insomnia severity (coefficient = 0.0421, p < 0.001), higher level of fatigue (coefficient = 0.0171, p < 0.001), and lower level of social support (coefficient = -0.0320, p < 0.001) were significantly associated with higher level of hopelessness. Fatigue and social support in serial, mediated the relationship between insomnia and hopelessness (total effect: coefficient = 0.0623, 95% CI [0.0466, 0.0780]; total direct effect: coefficient = 0.0421, 95% CI [0.0262, 0.0581]; total indirect effect: coefficient = 0.0202, 95% CI [0.0147, 0.0272]). CONCLUSIONS Improving sleep quality and eliminating fatigue could effectively alleviate the sense of hopelessness among Chinese older adults. In addition, establishing stronger social support brought by social network from family and friends could confer resilience against the negative effects of despair brought by insomnia. Our findings highlighted the mechanism connecting insomnia to hopelessness, which would inspire the future practice.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the status quo and the influencing factors of fatigue and professional identity among the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) workers in China during the pandemic. DESIGN A cross-sectional design. SETTING CDC workers employed by the Liaoning CDC system were enrolled (administrative staffs were excluded). PARTICIPANTS 1020 CDC workers. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES Fatigue scores and professional identity scores. SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES Postcompetency scores, respect scores, occupational stress scores, resilience scores and self-efficacy scores. RESULTS The average scores of fatigue and professional identity were 8.23, 38.88, respectively. Factors including perceived public respect (β=-0.129, p<0.01), resilience (β=-0.104, p<0.05) and self-efficacy (β=-0.22, p<0.01) were negatively associated with fatigue. Educational background (bachelor vs junior college or below) (β=0.105, p<0.01), (master or above vs junior college or below) (β=0.092, p<0.05), workplace (county vs district) (β=0.067, p<0.05), (city vs district) (β=0.085, p<0.05), fighting the COVID-19 on the front line (β=0.059, p<0.05) and occupational stress (β=0.166, p<0.01) were positively correlated with fatigue. Educational background (bachelor vs junior college or below) (β=-0.097, p<0.01), (master or above vs junior college or below) (β=-0.114, p<0.01), workplace (city vs district) (β=-0.114, p<0.01), fighting the COVID-19 on the front line (β=-0.047, p<0.05) and occupational stress (β=-0.105, p<0.01) were negatively associated with professional identity. Factors including postcompetency (β=0.362, p<0.01), perceived public respect (general vs low) (β=0.219, p<0.01), (high vs low) (β=0.288, p<0.01), resilience (β=0.097, p<0.05) and self-efficacy (β=0.113, p<0.01) were positively connected with professional identity. CONCLUSION The fatigue among the CDC workers was at a higher level. The level of professional identity was high, and administrators should take measures to alleviate fatigue and maintain professional identity. In addition, methods aiming to attenuate occupational stress, and improve resilience and self-efficacy should be immediately put into action.

Abstract
Drawing on event system theory, this study explored the mechanism by which COVID-19 pandemic strength (including criticality, disruption, and novelty) influences work fatigue through the mediating role of occupational calling. A two-wave field study was conducted with 857 Chinese police officers using COVID-19 pandemic strength, occupational calling, and work fatigue questionnaires. The results showed that COVID-19 pandemic criticality had a positive effect on work fatigue and occupational calling, and that occupational calling mediated the direct link between COVID-19 pandemic criticality and work fatigue. Additionally, the first and second stages of the mediating effect were jointly moderated by COVID-19 pandemic disruption and novelty. When COVID-19 pandemic disruption and novelty were high, the positive relationship between COVID-19 pandemic criticality and occupational calling, and the mediating role of occupational calling, were stronger. The negative relationship between occupational calling and work fatigue was strengthened when COVID-19 pandemic disruption was high and novelty was low.

Abstract
Teachers’ job satisfaction is a prominent aspect that determines workplace well-being and job performance. With the outbreak of COVID-19, changes in the teaching process have emerged (e.g., the shift to online classes and an increase in teaching hours), which might be affecting job satisfaction. A closer look at predictors of teachers’ job satisfaction and the level to which they have influenced teaching satisfaction during the period of COVID-19 pandemic is very important. This survey involved a sample of 2886 Chinese teachers to examine the effects of teachers’ work values on their job satisfaction through the mediating role of work engagement. The analysis by SPSS 25 and PROCESS for SPSS software was run, and the results showed a strong effect of teachers’ work values on job satisfaction (β = 0.203, SE = 0.203, p < 0.01) and of work values on job satisfaction through the mediating role of work engagement (β = 0.204, SE = 0.017, p < 0.01). From the correlation analysis, work values strongly correlated with work engagement (r = 0.499, p < 0.01) and job satisfaction (r = 0.360, p < 0.01). Teachers’ work values and work engagement played a predicting role on job satisfaction among Chinese teachers during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
Recently, scientific theories on career satisfaction (CS) have been promoted worldwide. Research on the subject has become more and more popular, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study adds to the existing literature by investigating the impact of organizational support on career satisfaction through the mediation role of job crafting and work engagement among Chinese teachers. A diverse sample of teachers (n = 3147) was drawn from various schools in Zhejiang province (P.R. China), from June to September 2021. SPSS 26 software with PROCESS macro and JASP was used to analyze the data. The findings demonstrate that perceived organizational support (POS), job crafting (JC), and work engagement (WE) have a significant and positive relation with teachers’ career satisfaction. POS was serially associated with JC (b = 0.34, p = 0.001), CS (b = 0.40, p = 0.001), and WE (b = 0.49, p0.001). The residual direct pathways for JC → CS (b = 0.55, p = 0.001, 95% CI = [0.51, 0.60]) and for WE → CS (b = 0.47, p = 0.001, 95% CI = [0.44, 0.50]) were significant. Sequentially, JC and WE mediated the relation between POS and CS. The multiple mediation model supported our general hypothesis that JC and WE mediate the relationship between POS and CS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The heavy care burden, the long-term dependence of the disabled elderly, and the changing social roles can put elderly caregivers at high risk for mental disorders. This study aimed to explore the prevalence and related factors of depression and anxiety among elderly caregivers and examine the role of resilience in depression and anxiety. METHODS A multicentre cross-sectional survey was designed. A total of 953 elderly caregivers in nursing homes were recruited in three provinces in China using convenience sampling. Depression and anxiety were measured by self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the key factors associated with depression and anxiety. RESULTS The median SDS score was 40 (interquartile interval 34-48), and the median SAS score was 48 (interquartile interval 38-56). In this cohort, 19.4% reported depression and 44.0% anxiety. Working hours, sensitive personality and health status were related factors for depression symptom. In terms of anxiety symptoms, its related factors included working hours, health status and higher monthly income. Furthermore, resilience was associated with depression and anxiety among caregivers. LIMITATIONS A selection bias may be caused by convenience sampling and voluntary participation. CONCLUSION Depression and anxiety symptoms were common in the cohort of Chinese elderly caregivers in the nursing home. The factors explored in this study may contribute to the development of individualized interventions for depression and anxiety symptoms.

Abstract
Drawing on the job demands-resources (JD-R) model and event system theory (EST), this study constructed a moderated mediating model to investigate the direct effect of career calling on work fatigue, the mediating effect of role overload, and the moderating effect of COVID-19 event disruption in the above relationships. We administered an online questionnaire to 488 Chinese police officers who participated in frontline work to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed a U-shaped curvilinear relationship of career calling with physical fatigue, mental fatigue, emotional fatigue, and role overload. Moreover, role overload partially mediated these curvilinear relationships. In addition, COVID-19 event disruption positively moderated the direct curvilinear effect of career calling on role overload, physical fatigue, and emotional fatigue, as well as the first stage of the mediating effect in the relationship between career calling and physical, mental, and emotional fatigue through role overload. Furthermore, the direct U-shaped curvilinear effects and the indirect effects were more significant when COVID-19 event disruption was high.

Abstract
PURPOSE Fatigue undermines nurses' well-being and work performance worldwide. Work stress is a critical factor that causes nurses' fatigue, but the solutions are not well known. This study aimed to identify the moderated mediation model of fatigue involving effort-reward imbalance (ERI), resilience and perceived organizational support (POS) in Chinese nurses. METHODS In a cross-sectional investigation conducted in Liaoning Province of China, 996 nurses completed the self-administered measurements of fatigue, ERI, resilience and POS. Moderated mediation was tested using the PROCESS procedure. The "pick-a-point" method was adopted to assess conditional effect on fatigue. RESULTS The indirect effect of ERI on fatigue through resilience was significant (a×b = 0.119, BCa 95% CI: 0.094 to 0.146), indicating a partial mediation of resilience. POS moderated the association of resilience with fatigue (β = -0.056, p = 0.006). The higher the level of POS was, the stronger the resilience-fatigue association became. Thus, the mediating role of resilience in the ERI-fatigue association was gradually increased with the increase of POS level (low POS: 0.073; moderate POS: 0.095; high POS: 0.116). CONCLUSION Resilience could partially mediate the ERI-fatigue association. POS could act as a moderator that enhanced the association of resilience with fatigue. A moderated mediation model of fatigue was demonstrated in Chinese nurses. Managers should establish a balanced social reciprocity, and improve nurses' resilience and POS in order to decrease nurses' fatigue.
