Abstract
To explore the slow-release potential of indole oxygen-containing functional group derivatives in acidic media in order to reduce their negative impact on the environment. We investigated the corrosion inhibition effect of 5-Methoxy-indazole (MIA) and Methyl 1H-indazole-5-carboxylate (MIC) on copper in H2SO4 through electrochemical testing, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, and theoretical calculations. Research has found that MIA and MIC exhibit excellent corrosion inhibition performance, with MIA achieving an efficiency of up to 91.04%. SEM observed that MIA and MIC formed a protective film on the copper surface, effectively isolating the corrosive medium. The adsorption behavior conforms to the Langmuir model, indicating the coexistence of chemical and physical adsorption. Density functional theory calculations (DFT) and molecular dynamics simulations (MD) further revealed the corrosion inhibition mechanism of imidazole derivatives, emphasizing their potential for application in acidic media. These results not only elucidate the corrosion inhibition effect of imidazole compounds, but also provide new ideas for corrosion control in acidic environments.

Abstract
In the exploitation of seawater resources, the transported pipelines are frequently corroded, resulting in economic losses and environmental pollution. The development of corrosion inhibitors is an effective measure to mitigate the corrosion of metals in seawater. In this work, novel chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives (CF) were synthesized as fluorescent eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor by modifying fluorescent monomers. The characterization of CF revealed excellent fluorescence intensity, promising the potential for on-line detection. The inhibition performance of CF on P110 in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution was investigated through experimental evaluation and theoretical analysis. The electrochemical measurements indicated that the corrosion inhibition efficiency was increased from 61.00 % to 91.19 % with the introduction of fluorane. Adsorption isotherm and XPS analysis demonstrated that CF is designed to protect metal by forming the composite film on P110 through physical and chemical adsorption. In addition, theoretical calculations revealed differences in the interaction energies, radial distribution functions and diffusion coefficients of inhibitors on the Fe (110) surface. These theoretical results aligned with the experiments and confirmed the excellent ability of CF in metal corrosion protection from the molecular perspective. This new chitosan derivative provides new possibilities for the development of the green composite inhibitor that allows on-line detection.

Abstract
Herein, we report a convenient and environmentally friendly electrochemical technique that enables the regioselective construction of 4-sulfenyl-1H-isochromen-1-ones using readily available precursors such as o-alkynyl benzoates and diaryl disulfides. This electrochemical process has been accomplished through constant current electrolysis in an undivided cell under external acid, catalyst, oxidant, or metal-free conditions. Owing to this protocol's mild reaction conditions, the products are obtained in good to very good yields, demonstrating a broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance.

Highly selective ion precipitation flotation for ternary Co-Zn-Mn separation: Stepwise chelation capture of Co and Zn from simulated zinc hydrometallurgy wastewater. CHEMOSPHERE 2024; 353:141533. Abstract
Ion precipitation flotation technology was demonstrated to be an efficient method for the separation of valuable metals from low-concentration solution. However, the selective separation of three metals from mixing solution is a great challenge, and highly selective reagents are the key to polymetallic separation. In this work, stepwise separation of Co and Zn from the simulated zinc hydrometallurgy wastewater containing ternary Co-Zn-Mn metals by ion precipitation flotation process was proposed. It's demonstrated that organic reagents of 1-nitroso-2-naphthol (NN) and sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate (SDDC) had excellent selectivity for the capture of Co and Zn to form respective precipitate from wastewaters via the chelation reactions. After precipitation, dodecylpyridinium chloride (DPC) and tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) were chosen as surfactants for the separation of Co and Zn sediments from the solution via the flotation process. The effects of solution pH, molar ratio, reaction temperature, and reaction time on the selective precipitation efficiencies of Co and Zn as well as the effects of surfactant dosage and flotation gas velocity on the flotation separation efficiencies were systematically investigated. It's demonstrated that the comprehensive recovery rates of Co, Mn, and Zn reach 98%, 90%, and 99%, respectively. After separation, oxidation calcination of the foam products was conducted to prepare high-purity Co3O4 and ZnO nanoparticles in which the organic matters were burnt out with gas emissions. The stepwise chelation capture mechanisms of Co and Zn by highly selective precipitation reagents were minutely discussed. It's demonstrated that the proposed selective stepwise precipitation and flotation method is suitable for recovery of critical metal ions from low-concentration polymetallic wastewaters.

Abstract
In this work, we studied the corrosion of Cu metal in 0.5 mol L-1 HCl and the inhibition effect of the expired Cefazolin drug. The inhibition efficiency (IE) of Cefazolin varied according to its concentration in solution. As the Cefazolin concentration increased to 300 ppm, the IE increased to 87% at 298 K and decreased to 78% as the temperature increased to 318 K. The expired drug functioned as a mixed-type inhibitor. The adsorption of the drug on the copper surface followed Temkin's adsorption model. The magnitudes of the standard free energy change (ΔGoads) and adsorption equilibrium constant (Kads) indicated the spontaneous nature and exothermicity of the adsorption process. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques showed that the drug molecules were strongly attached to the Cu surface. The electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM), potentiodynamic polarization (PP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results were in good agreement with the results of the weight loss (WL) method. The density functional tight-binding (DFTB) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation results indicated that the expired drug bound to the copper surface through the lone pair of electrons of the heteroatoms as well as the π-electrons of the tetrazole ring. The adsorption energy between the drug and copper metal was -459.38 kJ mol-1.

Abstract
In this study, chitosan (CS) and phytic acid (PA) were employed as raw materials to synthesize a range of chitosan-phytic acid complexes (CP) with different ratios (CS:PA = 12:1, 9:1, 6:1, 3:1, 1:1). The structures and elemental compositions of the compounds were characterized using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The thermal stability of the synthesized materials was analyzed using a Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TG). Electrochemical testing was conducted to explore the corrosion inhibition effect of the modified inhibitors with varying ratios on Q235 steel in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. Additionally, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was utilized to investigate the surface morphology of the immersed samples. When the CS:PA ratio was 3:1, CP exhibited an impressive corrosion inhibition efficiency of 94.9 %. Furthermore, the antimicrobial properties of CP were evaluated using the colony plate counting method. At a CS:PA ratio of 1:1, CP demonstrated the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) at 0.1250 % and 0.5000 %, respectively. This research introduces a novel green corrosion inhibitor capable of simultaneously reducing the electrochemical corrosion of Q235 while inhibiting biocorrosion, avoiding the antagonistic effects arising from the simultaneous use of biocides and corrosion inhibitors in the system.

Abstract
The current study highlights the successful integration of an in silico design with experimental validation to create a highly effective corrosion inhibitor for copper (Cu) surfaces. The synthesized sulfonated zinc phthalocyanine (Zn-Pc) is electrochemically characterized and demonstrates an impressive 97% inhibition efficiency, comparable to the widely used industrial corrosion inhibitor, BTA, for Cu surfaces. The corrosion inhibition is comprehensively analyzed through potentiodynamic polarization and impedance spectroscopy techniques, supported by their respective equivalent circuits. Furthermore, the sample undergoes thorough characterization using scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, and atomic force microscopy. Density functional theory calculations reveal that sulfonated Zn-Pc exhibits the highest interaction energy, underscoring its exceptional inhibition properties. These results open possibilities for utilizing computational methods to design and optimize corrosion inhibitors for protection of Cu surfaces.

Abstract
The current research reports the performance of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium methane sulfonate ([C4MIM][OMs](IL)) as effective corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte. For proper evaluation, weight loss, electrochemical study, theoretical modeling and optimization techniques were used. Weight loss and electrochemical methods shows that the inhibition performance of [C4MIM][OMs] on the metal surface strengthens as the concentration increases. Maximum inhibition efficiency of 85.71%, 92.5% and 91.1% at 0.8 g L-1 concentration of [C4MIM][OMs] were obtained from the weight loss, polarization and impedance studies, respectively. In addition, response surface methodology (RSM) a statistical tool was used for modeling and optimization of the empirical data. The RSM model validates the empirical findings. Also, DFT/MD-simulation investigations evidenced that [C4MIM][OMs] forms a barrier film on the mild steel surface. The result shows that the synthesized [C4MIM][OMs] could open up opportunities in corrosion and materials protection for sustainability.

Abstract
In this paper, Solanum lyratum leaves were prepared into a corrosion inhibitor by a pure water extraction method. As a natural plant, S. lyratum leaf extract as a corrosion inhibitor has green features. S. lyratum leaf extract (SLLE) can effectively inhibit the corrosion of Cu in H2SO4 solution. The protective effect on copper in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution was studied by electrochemical measurement, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and theoretical calculation. These results showed that the maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency (η) of SLLE for copper obtained in the electrochemical measurement at different temperatures is more than 90%. The adsorption of SLLE on copper surfaces conforms to the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model. FTIR and XPS showed the bonding information. SEM and AFM proved that the SLLE can protect the copper from corrosion media. The interaction and inhibition mechanism between the SLLE and copper surface was further revealed at the molecular level by theoretical calculation.

Abstract
In this study, the inhibitive performance of pyridine-2-thiol added to a corrosive solution was investigated for brass using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrochemical experiments were performed with different inhibitor concentrations in 0.5 M H2SO4 as the corrosive medium. For potentiodynamic polarization, icorr values decreased significantly for the inhibited solutions in contrast with the uninhibited solution. Pyridine-2-thiol had an optimum inhibition concentration of 0.25 mM, giving an icorr value of 1.8 µA/cm2 compared to 26 µA/cm2 for the blank solution. EIS data indicated that Rp and Rct values increased substantially after the addition of the corrosion inhibitor and corrosion inhibition efficiencies of more than 85% was achieved for the majority of the inhibited solutions. Scanning electron microscopy showed defect free and less scale formation for the inhibited surface but the bare brass surface had larger amounts of scale formation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy was used to investigate surface chemical composition and inhibitor structural changes over time.

Abstract
Electrochemical, surface, and density functional theory (DFT)/Monte Carlo (MC) simulation studies were used in investigating the characteristics of N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-dimethylphenyl)formimidamide) (DS1), N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)formimidamide) (DS2), N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-dimesitylformimidamide) (DS3), and N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-dichlorophenyl)formimidamide) (DS4) as inhibitors of acid corrosion of mild steel. The inhibitors were found to effectively reduce the rates of steel dissolution at the anode as well as cathodic hydrogen evolution. The order of inhibition efficiencies of studied compounds is DS1 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 98.60/97.98/96.94%) > DS2 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 98.36/96.86/96.90%) > DS3 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 94.66/87.44/94.30%) > DS4 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 83.57/77.02/75.17%) at 1.00 mM, and the overall efficiencies appeared to depend on the molecular and electronic structures of the compounds. The compounds offered high resistance to charge transfer across the electrode/electrolyte system by forming adsorbed film whose resistance increased with an increase in concentration. Findings suggested that the adsorption process involved combined chemisorption and physisorption. DFT calculations and MC simulations provided theoretical justifications for the experimental results.

Abstract
The effects of cysteine (Cys) and l-methionine (l-Met) on copper corrosion inhibition were examined in 1 M HNO3 solution for short and long exposure times. Potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used. The EIS determined the potential for zero charges of copper (PZC) in the inhibitor solution. SEM and AFM have been used to study material surfaces. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was used to identify surface elemental composition. DFT and molecular dynamics simulations explored the interaction between protonated amino acids and aggressive media anions on a copper (111) surface. The effects of cysteine (Cys) and l-methionine (l-Met) on copper corrosion inhibition were examined in 1 M HNO3 solution for short and long exposure times.![]()

Abstract
2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-dithiane (DDD) and 2,5-dimethy- [1.4] dithiane-2,5-diol (DTDD) two food flavors as environmentally-friendly inhibitors for Cu in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 media were researched via theoretical calculation and experimental ways. Electrochemical measurement data showed that DDD and DTDD can exhibit high level anti-corrosion feature. The anti-corrosion efficiency of DDD and DTDD were as high as 99.6% and 98.9%, respectively. The atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests showed that the Cu specimens were immersed in the H2SO4 with 5 mM DDD and DTDD for 30 h at the 298 K, and the Cu specimen surface was still smooth. Besides, the adsorption of DDD and DTDD at the interface of Cu/solution was comply with Langmuir adsorption. Theoretical calculation data showed that DDD exhibit more ascendant anti-corrosion feature than DTDD.
