Abstract
Constructing a heterostructure is regarded as one of the most favorable approaches to attaining the separation ability of photogenerated carriers and strengthening photocatalysis efficiency. In this study, a CdS/Bi2MoO6 type-II heterostructure was constructed through a hydrothermal technique. The photocatalytic test result shows that the degradation efficiency of rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline (TC) over CS/BMO-1 was 100 and 92% under visible light, respectively, which is the highest compared to other samples. The exceptional photocatalytic efficiency is principally associated with generating an inherent electric field within a type-II heterostructure, effectively restraining the recombination of photogenerated electron hole pairs. The intermediate products during the photocatalytic degradation of RhB and TC were identified through liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, and the hypotheses were formulated regarding the corresponding photodegradation mechanisms. Furthermore, the outcomes of capture tests exhibited that the primary active species were •O2- and h+, and a mechanism of the photocatalytic degradation procedure has been proposed.

Abstract
The development of highly efficient and stable visible-light-driven photocatalysts for the removal of herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from water is still a challenge. In this work, Bi2MoO6 (BMO) materials with different morphology were successfully prepared via a simple hydrothermal method by altering the solvent. The morphology of the BMO material is mainly influenced by the solvent used in the synthesis (H2O, ethanol, and ethylene glycol or their mixtures) and to a lesser extent by subsequent thermal annealing. BMO with aggregated spheres and nanoplate-like structures hydrothermally synthesized in ethylene glycol (EG) and subsequently calcined at 400 °C (BMO-400 (EG)) showed the highest adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activity compared to other synthesized morphologies. Complete degradation of 2,4-D on BMO upon irradiation with a blue light-emitting diode (LED, λmax = 467 nm) was reached within 150 min, resulting in 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) as the main degradation product. Holes (h+) and superoxide radicals (⋅O2-) are assumed to be the reactive species observed for the rapid conversion of 2,4-D to 2,4-DCP. The addition of H2O2 to the reaction mixture not only accelerates the degradation of 2,4-DCP but also significantly reduces the total organic carbon (TOC) content, indicating that hydroxyl radicals are crucial for the rapid mineralization of 2,4-D. Under optimal conditions, the TOC value was reduced by 84.5% within 180 min using BMO-400 (EG) and H2O2. The improved degradation performance of BMO-400 (EG) can be attributed to its particular morphology leading to lower charge transfer resistance, higher electron-hole separation, and larger specific surface area.

Abstract
In this paper, the S-scheme/Schottky heterojunction photocatalyst (CuInS2/Bi/Bi2MoO6, CIS/Bi/BMO) was successfully constructed via a facile in-situ solvothermal method, aimed at enhancing its photocatalytic performance. The results of the study on the photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac sodium (DCF) under simulated solar light irradiation revealed that the as-prepared composite exhibited remarkable catalytic efficiency in comparison to the pristine Bi2MoO6 and CuInS2. The plasmonic bismuth (Bi) was formed during the solvothermal process. Subsequently, CuInS2 and Bi were grown on the surface of Bi2MoO6 leading to forming CIS/BMO S-scheme heterojunction, along with a Schottky junction between Bi and Bi2MoO6. The use of ethylene glycol as a support was the main reason for the significant improvement in photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of DCF. Moreover, the probable photocatalytic mechanisms for the degradation of DCF had been proposed based on the active species quenching experiments. The eleven degradation products were detected by HPLC-MS, and the degradation reaction pathway of DCF was deduced. Additionally, the CIS/Bi/BMO photocatalyst exhibited a consistently high removal rate after four cycles. This study proposes a new strategy for designing efficient S-scheme/Schottky heterojunction photocatalysts for solar energy conversion.

Abstract
MOF-derived photocatalytic materials have potential in degrading ciprofloxacin (CIP) in water and HCHO gas pollutants. Novel derivatization means and defect regulation are effective techniques for improving the performance of MOF-derived photocatalysis. Vacancy-rich Bi4O5Br2 (MBO-x) were derived in one step from Bi-MOF (CAU-17) by a modified double-solvent method. MBO-50 produced more oxygen vacancies due to the combined effect of the CAU-17 precursor and double solvents. The photocatalytic performance of MBO was evaluated by degrading CIP and HCHO. Thanks to the favorable morphology and vacancy structure, MBO-50 demonstrated the best photocatalytic efficiency, with 97.0% removal of CIP (20 mg L-1) and 90.1% removal of HCHO (6.5 ppm) at 60 min of light irradiation. The EIS Nyquist measurement, transient photocurrent response, photoluminescence spectra, and the calculation of energy band information indicated that the vacancy sites can effectively capture photoexcited electrons during the charge transfer process, thus limiting the recombination of electrons and holes, improving the energy band structure, and making it easier to produce superoxide anion radical (·O2-) and to degrade CIP and HCHO. The improvement of photocatalytic performance of MBO-50 in HCHO degradation due to the bromine vacancy generation and filling mechanism was discussed in detail. This work provides a promising new idea for the modulation of MOF-derived photocatalytic materials.

Abstract
Using the GGA + U method, the formation energy and concentration of intrinsic defects in Bi2MoO6 are explored under different chemical conditions, with/without doping, from 120 to 900 K. We find that the intrinsic defect and carrier concentration can be deduced from the small range of calculated Fermi levels in the diagram of formation energy vs Fermi level under different conditions. Once the doping conditions or/and temperature are determined, the corresponding EF is only limited to a special region in the diagram of formation energy vs Fermi level, from which the magnitude relationship of defects concentration can be directly derived from their formation energy. The lower the defect formation energy is, the higher the defect concentration is. With EF moving under different doping conditions, the intrinsic defect concentration changes accordingly. At the same time, the highest electron concentration at the relative O-poor (point HU) with only intrinsic defects confirms its intrinsic n-type behavior. Moreover, upon A-/D+ doping, EF moves closer to VBM/CBM for the increasing concentration of holes/electrons. The electron concentration can also be further improved after D+ doping, indicating that D+ doping under O-poor chemical growth conditions is positive to improve its photogenerated carriers. This provides us with a method to adjust the intrinsic defect concentration and deepens our knowledge about comprehension and application of the diagram of formation energy vs Fermi level.

Abstract
Developing efficient photocatalysts is of crucial significance for the development of photocatalysis techniques. In this work, an S-scheme alkaline-washed TiOF2/HTiOF3(OHTOF) heterostructures with abundant Oxygen vacancies (Ovs) and OH groups was successfully constructed and used to remedy antibiotic wastewater under simulated sunlight. The generation of HTiOF3 was induced by g-C3N4 regulation. The results displayed that OHTOF15 composite possessed the best photocatalytic performance, which could degrade 94.2% tetracyclinehydrochloride (TCH) at a rate speed constant of 1.077 min-1 in 2.5 h. The after-alkali-washing process increased the concentration of OH groups and Ovs defects, and greatly enlarged the surface area. The abundant Ovs and OH groups were conducive to the formation of free radicals' and the transport of charge carriers. Compared with the pristine TiOF2, the absorption sidebands of OHTOF series were greatly red-shifted, which indicated that the increase of OH groups and the etching of the morphology of OHTOF further enhanced its visible-light harvesting ability. Furthermore, the metal cycle of the variable state of Ti4+/Ti3+ in OHTOF15 compensated for the charge balance and promoted the efficient separation of the carriers. Additionally, the apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of the TCH photodegradation system based on Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removal efficiency was calculated to be 0.32%. It was confirmed that the electron transport path in TiOF2/HTiOF3 nanocomposites system followed the S-scheme type, which increased the charge carriers' separation rate and maintained a strong redox capacity. This work could provide some enlightenment for the construction of the semiconducting heterojunction and controllable surface defects engineering.

Abstract
The morphology-controlled synthesis of nanostructured photocatalysts by an environmentally friendly and low-cost method provides a feasible way to realize practical applications of photocatalysts. Herein, Bi2WO6 (BWO) nanophotocatalysts with mulberry shape, sheet-like, and round-cake morphologies have been successfully synthesized through a highly facile solvothermal process by simply adjusting the solvothermal temperature or utilizing selective addition of ethylene glycol as an orientation agent without using strong acids and bases and/or hazardous chemicals. The ratio of ethylene glycol and glacial acetic acid can affect the morphology and oxygen vacancy content of BWO, thereby influencing the photocatalytic performance. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared samples was evaluated by degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline under visible-light irradiation. The results indicated that all the BWO samples exhibited morphology-associated photocatalytic activity, and the sheet-like structure of BWO obtained via solvothermal treatment at 120 °C with ethylene glycol and glacial acetic acid ratio of 1:3 achieved the maximum specific surface area and possessed abundant oxygen vacancies, exhibiting outstanding photocatalytic activity for degradation of RhB and tetracycline. The degradation rate of RhB reached 100% within 20 min. To the best of our knowledge, this value is one of the most remarkable values for pristine BWO photocatalysts. Radical capture experiments demonstrated that hydroxyl radicals (·OH) play major roles compared with electrons (e-) and holes (h+) in the photocatalytic degradation process. A possible mechanism for the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants was proposed to better understand the reaction process. We believe that the more economical, efficient and greener methodology can provide guidance to develop highly efficient photocatalysts with favourable morphology and structure. Abstract
Photocatalytic selective oxidation of alcohols into high value-added carbonyl compounds accompanied by producing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is undoubtedly a more efficient solar energy conversion strategy with high atom economy. Herein, we have developed an efficient photocatalyst of bismuth-molybdate (Bi2MoO6) hierarchical hollow microspheres with tunable surface oxygen vacancies (OVs) for promoting the photocatalytic selective alcohol oxidation with H2O2 production. The effect of surface OVs on the photocatalytic efficiency is studied systematically by comparing the performance of different photocatalysts. The benzaldehyde and H2O2 production rates over the OV-rich Bi2MoO6 photocatalyst reach up to 1310 and 67.2 μmol g-1 h-1, respectively, which are 2.3 and 4.0 times those generated from the OV-poor Bi2MoO6 hollow microspheres. The roles of various active radicals in the photocatalytic reaction are probed by a series of controlled experiments and in situ ESR measurements, revealing that both superoxide radical (•O2-) and carbon-centered radical are the key active intermediates. The introduction of surface OVs on Bi2MoO6 hollow microspheres accelerates the separation and transfer of photo-generated charge carriers as well as enhances the adsorption and activation of reactant molecules, thereby greatly promoting the photocatalytic selective oxidation of alcohols along with H2O2 production. This work not only demonstrates a facile strategy for the preparation of high-efficiency photocatalysts by simultaneous modulations of morphology and surface defects, but also offers insight into developing the dual-functional photocatalytic reactions for the full utilizations of photoinduced electrons and holes.

Abstract
Bi2MoO6 with a tunable morphology was synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route using different surfactants, including nanosheet-assembled microspheres, smooth microspheres, nanoparticle aggregates and nanoparticles. The morphology, crystal structure and photocatalytic activity of as-obtained Bi2MoO6 were characterized by scanning electron microscopes (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and UV–Vis spectrophotometer. Bi2MoO6 flower-like microspheres using cetyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide (BET) as the surfactant exhibited much better photocatalytic activity than Bi2MoO6 with the other morphologies, with a degradation efficiency of 98.4%. It can be summarized that the photocatalytic activity of Bi2MoO6 samples depends on their morphology and composition.
