Abstract
S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst-coupled plasma-resonance effect can enhance the response range and absorption of light and charge transfer, and, at the same time, obtain strong redox ability, which is an effective way to improve CO2 conversion. In this work, plasma S-scheme heterojunctions of Pd/BiOBr/CdS with heterogeneous interfaces have been successfully constructed by a simple hydrothermal method. The possible reaction mechanism was proposed by in situ infrared, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), electron paramagnetic resonance (ESR), density functional theory (DFT), and electrochemical techniques. It was proved that the plasma S-scheme heterojunction can enhance the charge separation efficiency and improve the photocatalytic activity. When the loading ratio is Pd0.6-10%-BiOBr/CdS, it has the best performance, and the CO yield is 30.24 μmol/g, which is 15 and 30 times that of pure BiOBr and CdS, respectively. The results show that with the strong absorption of photon energy and the special electron transfer mode of S-scheme heterojunction, the charge can be effectively separated and transferred, and the photocatalytic activity is significantly improved. This study provides a useful strategy for charge transfer kinetics of plasma S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts.

Abstract
Constructing strong interfacial electric fields to enhance the surface charge transport kinetics is an effective strategy for promoting CO2 conversion. Herein, we present the fabrication of CdS-Bi2MoO6 Z-scheme heterojunctions with a robust internal electric field (IEF) using an in situ growth technique, establishing chemical bonding between the components. The IEF at the interface can offer an impetus for the segregation and transportation of photogenerated carriers, while the Cd-O chemical bonding mode acts as a rapid conduit for these carriers, thereby reducing the charge transfer distance. As a result, the Z-scheme charge transfer is accelerated due to the synergistic influence of these two factors. Therefore, the optimized CdS/Bi2MoO6 Z-scheme heterojunction possesses significantly enhanced dynamic carrier mobility, thus promoting the conversion of CO2 to CO without the need for additional co-catalysts or sacrificial agents. This optimization yields a remarkable CO selectivity of up to 97%. Meanwhile, the expedited Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism is validated through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Kelvin probe force microscopy, and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy.

Abstract
Photocatalytic nitrogen fixation presents an eco-friendly approach to converting atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia (NH3), but the process faces challenges due to rapid interface charge recombination. Here, we report an innovative charge transfer and oriented accumulation strategy using an In-O-Mo bond-modulated S-scheme heterostructure composed of In2O3/Bi2MoO6 (In/BMO) synthesized using a simple electrostatic assembly. The unique interfacial arrangement with optimal photocatalyst configuration (3 % In/BMO) enabled enhanced photogenerated electron separation and transfer, leading to a remarkable nitrogen fixation rate of approximately 150.9 μmol·gcat-1·h-1 under visible light irradiation. The performance of the photocatalyst was 9-fold and 27-fold higher than that of its pristine components, Bi2MoO6 and In2O3, respectively. The experimental and theoretical evaluation deemed interfacial In-O-Mo bonds crucial for rapid transfer and charge-oriented accumulation. Whereas the generated internal electric field drove the spatial separation and transfer of photo-generated electrons and holes, significantly enhancing the photocatalytic N2-to-NH3 conversion efficiency. The proposed work lays the foundation for designing S-scheme heterostructures with highly efficient interfacial bonds, offering a promising avenue for substantial improvements in photocatalytic nitrogen fixation.

Abstract
Benefiting from the unique surface plasmon properties, plasmonic metal nanoparticles can convert light energy into chemical energy, which is considered as a potential technique for enhancing plasmon-induced semiconductor photocatalytic reactions. Due to the shortcomings of large bandgap and high carrier recombination rate of semiconductors, their applications are limited in the field of sustainable and clean energy sources. Different forms of plasmonic nanoparticles have been reported to improve the photocatalytic reactions of adjacent semiconductors, such as water splitting, carbon dioxide reduction, and organic pollutant degradation. Although there are various reports on plasmonic metal-semiconductor photocatalysis, the related mechanism and frontier progress still need to be further explored. This review provides a brief explanation of the four main mechanisms of plasmonic metal-semiconductor photocatalysis, namely, (i) enhanced local electromagnetic field, (ii) light scattering, (iii) plasmon-induced hot carrier injection and (iv) plasmon-induced resonance energy transfer; some related typical frontier applications are also discussed. The study on the mechanism of plasmonic semiconductor complexes will be favourable to develop a new high-performance semiconductor photocatalysis technology.

Abstract
Semiconductor photocatalysis has great potential in the fields of solar fuel production and environmental remediation. Nevertheless, the photocatalytic efficiency still constrains its practical production applications. The development of new semiconductor materials is essential to enhance the solar energy conversion efficiency of photocatalytic systems. Recently, the research on enhancing the photocatalytic performance of semiconductors by introducing bismuth (Bi) has attracted widespread attention. In this review, we briefly overview the main synthesis methods of Bi/semiconductor photocatalysts and summarize the control of the micromorphology of Bi in Bi/semiconductors and the key role of Bi in the catalytic system. In addition, the promising applications of Bi/semiconductors in photocatalysis, such as pollutant degradation, sterilization, water separation, CO2 reduction, and N2 fixation, are outlined. Finally, an outlook on the challenges and future research directions of Bi/semiconductor photocatalysts is given. We aim to offer guidance for the rational design and synthesis of high-efficiency Bi/semiconductor photocatalysts for energy and environmental applications.

Abstract
It is of great significance to prepare liners with excellent inhibition of energetic plasticizer migration and gas barrier properties. Here, we have successfully prepared magnetic iron oxide decorated reduced-graphene-oxide nanosheets (MRGO) by using ultrasound-assisted method. The obtained MRGO nanosheet-fillers were filled into hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) which was exposed to a magnetic field (200 mT) to achieve ordered orientation of MRGO in the HTPB matrix (Ordered MRGO/HTPB). The laser confocal microscopy demonstrates that MRGO exhibit ordered orientation structure in HTPB matrix with good dispersion, which renders the HTPB composite liners exhibiting high gas and plasticizer barrier capability, with a reduction of 18.9 % in water vapor permeability and a decrease of 14.1 % in dibutyl phthalate (DBP) migration equilibrium concentration as compared with those of random MRGO embedded HTPB composite liners (Random MRGO/HTPB). Moreover, a theoretical model accounting for such enhanced gas/plasticizer barrier performance of HTPB due to the implantation of order aligned MRGO was established, which shows that the effective diffusion pathways of plasticizer/gas for liner penetration would be significantly enhanced when the MRGO nanosheets are oriented within the HTPB matrix. This work provides an effective and facile strategy toward the design and development of composite liners with high plasticizer/gas barrier performance for industrial applications.

Abstract
The heterostructured photoelectric material is supposed to markedly promote the photoelectrochemical (PEC) property. Herein, the species heterostructured MnS/CdS and MnS-MnS2/CdS(1∼2) composites derived from Mn-ZIF MOFs via a sulfofication reaction using Cd(NO3)2, CdC12 cadmium source, respectively. Under irradiation, the PEC tests showed that the photocurrent response of MnS-MnS2/CdS(1∼2) signally enhanced compared to globose MnS/CdS heterostructure and pure MnS or CdS. It was ascribed to the matching band-gap to form type II heterojunction in MnS-MnS2/CdS(1∼2) which dramatically facilitated photo-induced electron/hole (e-/h+) separation and transfer. The hair-ball morphologies structure of MnS-MnS2/CdS(1∼2) with large number of pores was beneficial to improve penetrating efficiency of the electrolyte liquid. Meanwhile, the well-synergistic effect on the MnS, MnS2, CdS components and with tight connecting heterojunction interface among MnS-MnS2/CdS(1∼2) which also led to violently photocurrent output. Besides, the chitosan (CS) was covalently coupled with glutaraldehyde (GLD) to obtain steady composite film, and the cross-linker of GLD can achieve the high efficiency to graft the Apt-CEA (aptamer) biomolecules, which resulting in the promotion of hybridization reaction efficiency of the CEA target. Hence, this created biosensor of Apt-CEA/GLD-CS/MnS-MnS2/CdS(1)/ITO for the CEA detection displayed a wide linear range from 0.001 to 18 ng mL-1 and with ultralow detection limit of 0.313 pg mL-1. This research innovatively prepared a contact heterojunction interface with special porosities structure, which had superior PEC nature for the fabrication of high-performance biosensor.

Abstract
Bi2MoO6/TiO2 heterojunction photocatalysts were constructed by depositing Bi2MoO6 nanosheets on TiO2 nanobelts' surface using a solvothermal method, and the surface of the optimum Bi2MoO6/TiO2 composite was decorated with copper and/or platinum nanoparticles. The synthesized samples were investigated for the CO2 photocatalytic reduction. The structural and optical properties of synthesized photocatalysts were characterized by XRD, FESEM, EDX, N2-physisorption, Raman, TPD-CO2, DRS, and PL analysis. The Bi2MoO6/TiO2 composite with different molar ratios of Bi2MoO6 to TiO2 (1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and 1/6) showed enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure Bi2MoO6 and TiO2. In comparison to bulk Bi2MoO6 and TiO2, the formation of a heterojunction between Bi2MoO6 and TiO2 leads to enhanced CO2 adsorption capacity. The enhanced performance of composites can be ascribed to the improved efficiency of light harvesting in the visible light range and suppressing charge recombination. The composite photocatalytic activity indicated that the ratio of Bi2MoO6 to TiO2 in the composite samples influenced the photocatalytic performance. The Bi2MoO6/TiO2 composite with 1/4 molar ratio had the best performance in 8 h (36.4 μmol/gcat), which was about 10 and 3 times higher than TiO2 and Bi2MoO6 photocatalysts, respectively. Under UV-visible light irradiation, the Pt-Cu@BMT4 sample produced the highest amount of methane (83.6 μmol/gcat) during CO2 photoreduction. During four irradiation cycles, the Pt-Cu@BMT4 sample exhibited superior stability with less than 5% decrease in methane production.

Abstract
Bi-based semiconductor materials have special layered structure and appropriate band gap, which endow them with excellent visible light response ability and stable photochemical characteristics. As a new type of environment-friendly photocatalyst, they have received extensive attention in the fields of environmental remediation and energy crisis resolution and have become a research hotspot in recent years. However, there are still some urgent issues that need to be addressed in the practical large-scale application of Bi-based photocatalysts, such as the high recombination rate of photogenerated carriers, limited response range to visible spectra, poor photocatalytic activity, and weak reduction ability. In this paper, the reaction conditions and mechanism of photocatalytic reduction of CO2 and the typical characteristics of Bi-based semiconductor materials are introduced. On this basis, the research progress and application results of Bi-based photocatalysts in the field of reducing CO2, including vacancy introduction, morphological control, heterojunction construction, and co-catalyst loading, are emphasized. Finally, the future prospects of Bi-based photocatalysts are prospected, and it is pointed out that future research directions should be focused on improving the selectivity and stability of catalysts, deeply exploring reaction mechanisms, and meeting industrial production requirements.

Abstract
Photocatalysis CO2 reduction into high-value-added chemical feedstocks is desirable for simultaneously addressing the solar energy storage, CO2 excess and energy shortage issues. In this work, a kind of original S-scheme BiOBr-(001)/Bi2SiO5/Bi (OSB) heterostructure photocatalyst with rich oxygen vacancies is in-situ synthesized, which significantly promotes the photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance. Interestingly, the lower formation energy of oxygen vacancy exhibits the easy feasibility on the BiOBr-(001) surface via the assistant of ultrasound. There exists the highest photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity to CO of 234.05 μmol g-1h-1 for OSB-20 sample (ultrasound time: 20 min), higher 3.3 times than OSB-0 sample (without ultrasound). Combined with experimental and calculated results, the significative formation mechanism, widened light-response range, highly-efficient separation/transfer paths and improved redox-reduction abilities of photogenerated electron-hole pairs for S-scheme OSB-20 heterostructure are investigated and proposed. Our findings provide new insights for the construction and synthesis of the S-scheme Bi-based heterojunction photocatalyst system.

Abstract
The photocatalytic technology illustrates an eco-friendly and sustainable route to overcome environmental and energy issues. The successful construction of a photocatalyst depends on four key elements: light absorption ability, the density of active sites, redox capacity, and photoinduced electron-hole recombination rate. Sincemost of intrinsic semiconductor photocatalysts cannot meet all these requirements, they are often modified to boost their photocatalytic properties. Many strategies have been adopted to design novel and efficient photocatalysts for diverse applications. Herein, we review the most efficient of these strategies and methods focused on effectively overcoming the efficiency limitations of photocatalysts to promote their large-scale application. Subsequently, a particular aim is put on the most current studies for photocatalytic applications, including CO2 reduction, N2 fixation, H2 evolution, and pollutants degradation. Finally, key challenges and future perspectives in designing and implementing semiconductor photocatalysts for large-scale applications are discussed. Therefore, it is foreseen that this review will work as a guide for future research and provides a variety of strategies to develop novel and high-performance photocatalysts for various applications.

Abstract
The utilization of solar energy for CO2 conversion not only enables a green and low-carbon recycling of CO2 with renewable energy, but also solves ecological problems. BixMOy (M = V, Mo, W) materials have typical layered structures and unique electronic properties that provide suitable band gaps and potential to meet the basic conditions for CO2 reduction. However, pristine BixMOy faces with problems such as small specific surface area, insufficient active sites, low charge carriers' separation and utilization efficiency. This review comprehensively described the basic principles and reaction pathways of photocatalytic CO2 reduction, and further presented the research progress of BixMOy catalysts in CO2 conversion reactions. In this perspective, we further focus on the design concepts and modification strategies to improve the photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity of BixMOy, such as morphology control, constructing surface vacancies and heterojunction fabrication. Finally, based on representative researches, the present review will be expected to provide updated information and insights for developing advanced BixMOy materials to further improve CO2 reduction activity and selectivity.

Abstract
To disclose the effect of crystal plane on the adsorption-photocatalytic activity of MnS, octahedral MnS was prepared via the hydrothermal route to enhance the adsorption and photocatalytic efficiencies of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) in visible light region. The optimal MnS treated at 433 K for 16 h could remove 94.83% TCH solution of 260 mg L-1 within 180 min, and its adsorption-photocatalytic efficiency declined to 89.68% after five cycles. Its excellent adsorption-photocatalytic activity and durability were ascribed to the sufficient vacant sites of octahedral structure for TCH adsorption and the feasible band-gap structure for visible-light response. In addition, the band gap structure (1.37 eV) of MnS with a conduction band value of -0.58 eV and a valence band value of 0.79 eV was favorable for the generation of O2-, while unsuitable for the formation of OH. Hence, octahedral MnS was a potential material for the removal of antibiotics from wastewater.

Abstract
A novel 2D/3D S-scheme carbon nitride/iodine-deficient bismuth oxyiodide (g-C3N4/BiO1.2I0.6) heterojunction was constructed for the first time by calcining a mixture of g-C3N4 nanosheets and flower-like BiOI. Irradiated by visible light, this g-C3N4/BiO1.2I0.6 heterojunction exhibited excellent photocatalytic hydrogen production and BPA degradation activity with high cycle stability. In particular, the photocatalytic activity of 0.2-C3N4/BiO1.2I0.6 could reach 1402.7 μmol g-1 h-1 (hydrogen production rate) and 0.01155 min-1 (apparent rate of bisphenol A degradation), which were 3.5 and 3.2 times that of g-C3N4 respectively. The remarkable photocatalytic performance was due to the efficient charge separation of g-C3N4/BiO1.2I0.6 and the formation of S-scheme heterojunction, which maintained strong photocatalytic reduction and oxidation potentials. Noticeably, the charge density difference and band offsets of the g-C3N4/BiO1.2I0.6 were calculated. The results revealed that a built-in electric field (IEF) was created. The values of the valence band offset (ΔEVBO) and the conduction band offset (ΔECBO) were -0.84 and -1.27 eV, respectively, which further demonstrated the formation of S-scheme photocatalytic charge transfer mechanism.

Abstract
Semiconductor photocatalytic degradation of pollutants is considered to be one of the promising sustainable energy routes. Nevertheless, it is challenging for photocatalysts to have excellent visible light absorption and suppress photo-generated electron-hole recombination at the same time. Here, we prepared nitrogen-doped ZnO carbon skeleton by directly calcining the metal-organic framework. Then hierarchical Bi2MoO6 nanosheets are grown in situ on its surface to synthesize S-scheme heterojunction. This special 3D layered and oxygen vacancies work together to make photo-generated electrons and holes easier to separate and migrate. Therefore, the pseudo-first-order kinetic constant of N-doped ZnO carbon skeleton@Bi2MoO6 degradation of sulfamethoxazole reaches 0.022 min-1, which is almost 10 times that of ZIF-8 derived ZnO and 27.5 times Bi2MoO6 under visible light irradiation. Meanwhile, the mechanism of driving charge transfer of S-scheme heterojunction, and the photocatalytic degradation pathway of sulfamethoxazole are also analyzed. This work will provide a new way to construct S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst to degrade antibiotic pollutants.

Abstract
Cu species doped defective Ag/TS-1 owns Ti3+–Vo which could play an vital part in stabilizing Cu2O. It shows high selectivity for CO and C2H5OH under light excitation and photoelectric condition. The possible pathway of CO2RR process is proposed.

Abstract
The formation of interfacial chemical bonding in heterostructures plays an important role in the transport of carriers. Herein, we firstly prepared ultrathin InVO4 nanosheet (Ns) with a thickness of 1.5 nm. Diethylenetriamine-modified CdSe (CdSe-DETA) nanobelts are in-situ deposited on the surface of ultrathin InVO4 Ns to build a InVO4/CdSe-DETA step-scheme (S-scheme) heterojunction photocatalysts. The protonated DETA acts as an amine-bridge to promote the formation of a tight chemical bond at the interface of InVO4/CdSe-DETA, thereby promoting the transfer of carriers at the interface. For photocatalytic CO2 reduction, the rationally designed InVO4/CdSe-DETA S-scheme photocatalyst exhibits a remarkable CO generation rate of 27.9 µmol h-1 g-1 at 420 nm, which is 3.35 and 3.39 times higher than that of CdSe-DETA and InVO4 Ns, respectively. The new method by using interfacial chemical bonding to facilitate interfacial charge transportation provide a promising strategy for improve photocatalysis.
