Abstract
The intrinsic limitation of low electrical conductivity of MoSe2 resulted in inferior dielectric properties, which restricts its electromagnetic wave absorption (EMWA) performances. Herein, a bimetallic selenide of MoSe2/CoSe2@N-doped carbon (NC) composites with hollow core-branch nanostructures are synthesized via the selenization treatment of MoO3 nanorods coated with ZIF-67. By adjusting the mass ratio of ZIF-67 to MoO3, the electromagnetic parameters and morphologies of composites are finely tuned, further ameliorating the impedance matching and EMWA performances. The involvement of NC improves the electronic conductivity of the composites. The synchronously formed heterostructure not only facilitates charge transfer but also leads to the accumulation and uneven distribution of charges, thus enhancing the conductive loss and polarization loss. The hollow core-branch nanostructure provides abundant conductive networks, heterointerfaces, and voids, significantly enhancing the EMWA property. Density functional theory implies that the heterostructures effectively boost charge transport and change charge distribution, which heightens the conductive loss and polarization loss. As a result, the composites demonstrate a minimum reflection loss value of -53.53 dB at 9.04 GHz, alongside a maximum effective absorption bandwidth of 6.32 GHz. This work offers invaluable insights into novel structural designs for future research and applications.

Abstract
Considering the increasing severity of electromagnetic wave pollution, the development of high-performance low-filler-content microwave absorbers possessing wide frequency bands and strong absorption for practical applications is a demanding research hotspot. In this study, from the perspectives of the electromagnetic component coordination and structural design, a three-dimensional (3D) interconnected CoFe2O4/MXene-melamine foam (MF) was constructed via simple impregnation and a single freeze-drying step. By changing the absorber (CoFe2O4/MXene) concentration, the pore opening and electromagnetic properties of the 3D foams can be effectively adjusted. When the absorber concentration is sufficiently high to clog the internal pores, the microwave absorption is hindered. When the filler (CoFe2O4/MXene-MF) content is just ∼5.8 wt % (at a density of ∼33.3 mg cm-3), a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -72.1 dB is achieved at a matching thickness of 3.32 mm, and an effective absorption bandwidth (4.54 GHz) covering the whole X band is achieved at a thickness of 3 mm. CoFe2O4/MXene-MF, which possesses a 3D porous electromagnetic network structure, optimizes impedance matching and enhances multiple polarization relaxations and reflections/scattering, resulting in superior absorption capabilities. In particular, the continuous network structure ensures the uniform distribution of electromagnetic fields in the microstructure, achieving high absorption at low filler contents. This work provides a reference for subsequent 3D absorber concentration studies and a novel engineering strategy for preparing a low-filler-content, lightweight, and efficient electromagnetic wave absorber, which could be applied in the fields of radar security and information communications.

Abstract
Composite materials that combine magnetic and dielectric losses offer a potential solution to enhance impedance match and significantly improve microwave absorption. In this study, Co3O4/ZnCo2O4 and ZnCo2O4/ZnO with varying metal oxide compositions are successfully synthesized, which are achieved by modifying the ratios of Co2+ and Zn2+ ions in the CoZn bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOF) precursor, followed by a high-temperature oxidative calcination process. Subsequently, a layer of polypyrrole (PPy) is coated onto the composite surfaces, resulting in the formation of core-shell structures known as Co3O4/ZnCo2O4@PPy (CZCP) and ZnCo2O4/ZnO@PPy (ZCZP) composites. The proposed method allows for rapid adjustments to the metal oxide composition within the inner shell, enabling the creation of composites with varying degrees of magnetic losses. The inclusion of PPy in the outer shell serves to enhance the bonding strength of the entire composite structure while contributing to conductive and dielectric losses. In specific experimental conditions, when the loading is set at 50 wt%, the CZCP composite exhibits an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 5.58 GHz (12.42 GHz-18 GHz) at a thickness of 1.53 mm. Meanwhile, the ZCZP composite demonstrates an impressive minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -71.2 dB at 13.04 GHz, with a thickness of 1.84 mm. This study offers a synthesis strategy for designing absorbent composites that possess light weight and excellent absorptive properties, thereby contributing to the advancement of electromagnetic wave absorbing materials.

Abstract
Electromagnetic wave absorbing materials (EWAMs) have made great progress in the past decades, and are playing an increasingly important role in radiation prevention and antiradar detection due to their essential attenuation toward incident EM wave. With the flourish of nanotechnology, the design of high-performance EWAMs is not just dependent on the intrinsic characteristics of single-component medium, but pays more attention to the synergistic effects from different components to generate rich loss mechanisms. Among various candidates, carbides and carbon materials are usually labeled with the features of chemical stability, low density, tunable dielectric property, and diversified morphology/microstructure, and thus the combination of carbides and carbon materials will be a promising way to acquire new EWAMs with good practical application prospects. In this review, we introduce EM loss mechanisms related to dielectric composites, and then highlight the state-of-the-art progress in carbides/carbon composites as high-performance EWAMs, including silicon carbide/carbon, MXene/carbon, molybdenum carbide/carbon, as well as some uncommon carbides/carbon composites and multicomponent composites. The critical information regarding composition optimization, structural engineering, performance reinforcement, and structure-function relationship are discussed in detail. In addition, some challenges and perspectives for the development of carbides/carbon composites are also proposed after comparing the performance of some representative composites.

Abstract
The emerging electromagnetic radiation and interference problems have promoted the rapid development of microwave absorption materials (MAMs). However, it remains a severe challenge to construct high-performance microwave absorption materials with broadband, lightweight and corrosion resistance within low filling contents. Herein, hierarchical dandelion-like CoS2 hollow microspheres were reasonably constructed via a solvothermal-hydrothermal etching-in situ vulcanization process. The structure morphology, composition and electromagnetic performance of all samples have been thoroughly tested. The research results demonstrated that the structure morphology of the prepared samples with a volume ratio of 1 : 1 between ethanol and H2O remained intact without serious damage. Notably, the as-obtained hierarchical dandelion-like CoS2 hollow microspheres (25 wt%) exhibited excellent microwave absorption capacity with a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -47.3 dB and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 8.4 GHz at 3.3 mm. Moreover, the broadest effective absorption bandwidth (EAB, RL < -10 dB) reached 9.0 GHz (9.0-18.0 GHz) at the matching thickness of 3.2 mm. The unparalleled multiple features including hierarchical hollow structure, tunable complex permittivity as well as the enhanced impedance matching endowed CoS2 great promise as high-performance microwave absorbers for solving the problem of electromagnetic pollution.

Abstract
The steadily increasing use of microwave stealth materials in aerospace flying vehicles needs the development of lightweight absorbers with low density and high thermal stability for printing or spraying. In that regard, the structural designability of typical microwave absorbers made of Fe3O4 seems to be a significant roadmap. In this work, a hollow spherical structure with a uniform carbon shell around the urchin-like Fe3O4 core (Fe3O4@C) was produced via a two-step hydrothermal method and annealing. The Fe3O4@C absorber exhibited a strong minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -73.5 dB at the matching thickness of 3.23 mm. The maximum effective absorption bandwidth (EABmax) was 4.78 GHz at 4.55 mm. The proposed urchin-like core-shell structure was shown to provide good impedance matching and electromagnetic loss ability due to the synergistic effect of Fe3O4 and C. In particular, the urchin-like structure increases the heterogeneous interfaces and effectively improves their polarization and relaxation. On the other hand, it reduces the density of the absorber and enhances multiple scattering attenuations of electromagnetic waves (EMWs). Therefore, the findings of the present study open up prospects for the design of high-efficiency lightweight microwave absorbers with specialized structures.
