Abstract
The pumpkin leaf was extracted by the decoction method, and it was used as an eco-friendly, nontoxic inhibitor of copper in 0.5 M H2SO4 corrosion media. To evaluate the composition and protective capacity of the pumpkin leaf extract, Fourier infrared spectroscopy, electrochemical testing, XPS, AFM, and SEM were employed. The results showed that the pumpkin leaf extract (PLE) is an effective cathode corrosion inhibitor, exhibiting exceptional protection for copper within a specific temperature range. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the PLE against copper reached 89.98% when the concentration of the PLE reached 800 mg/L. Furthermore, when the temperature and soaking time increased, the corrosion protection efficiency of 800 mg/L PLE on copper consistently remained above 85%. Analysis of the morphology also indicated that the PLE possesses equally effective protection for copper at different temperatures. Furthermore, XPS analysis reveals that the PLE molecules are indeed adsorbed to form an adsorption film, which is consistent with Langmuir monolayer adsorption. Molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemical calculations were conducted on the main components of the PLE.

Abstract
The high content of nitrogen and sulfur-doped carbon dots (N, S-CDs) was designed to prevent the corrosion of X65 steel in an acidic medium. The corrosion-inhibiting abilities of related nanomaterials for X65 steel were acquired by electrochemical experiments, and the corroded products were investigated by FT-IR, XPS, and Raman analysis. The conclusions confirm that the N, S-CDs are a high-efficiency inhibitor. When the concentration is 200 mg/L, the inhibitive efficiency of X65 steel can reach up to 99.1% and it interacts with X65 steel through chemical and physical adsorption. Additionally, results from the spectroscopic studies show that the S-group is the main contributor to the chemical adsorption process.

Abstract
In this paper, Solanum lyratum leaves were prepared into a corrosion inhibitor by a pure water extraction method. As a natural plant, S. lyratum leaf extract as a corrosion inhibitor has green features. S. lyratum leaf extract (SLLE) can effectively inhibit the corrosion of Cu in H2SO4 solution. The protective effect on copper in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution was studied by electrochemical measurement, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and theoretical calculation. These results showed that the maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency (η) of SLLE for copper obtained in the electrochemical measurement at different temperatures is more than 90%. The adsorption of SLLE on copper surfaces conforms to the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model. FTIR and XPS showed the bonding information. SEM and AFM proved that the SLLE can protect the copper from corrosion media. The interaction and inhibition mechanism between the SLLE and copper surface was further revealed at the molecular level by theoretical calculation.

Abstract
In the present research, the ability of Ranunculus arvensis (RA) and Glycine max (GM) extracts as green corrosion inhibitors of mild steel (MS) in 1 M HCl was investigated. The inhibiting potential of RA and GM was analysed employing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), polarization curves, potentiometry, and theoretical investigations. An enhancement in the inhibition efficiency (I.E) with increasing inhibitors concentrations indicated by EIS data and polarization curves. According to obtained results both extracts indicated inhibitory effect, with their effectiveness following the order of RA > GM. In addition, the interactions between the inhibitors on the MS surface were assessed using B3LYP/6-311g(d,p) theory level in liquid water phase. The interaction energies for three orientations of RA and GM depicted that inhibitors have located parallel to the alloy surface. The preferred complex orientation is one in which the maximum number of inhibitor donor atoms interacted with the alloy surface. Finally, experimental and theoretical results were in accordance which confirmed the inhibition effect of RA and GM extracts.

Sulfhydryl grafted palygorskite amendment with varying loading rates: Characteristic differences and dose-effect relationship for immobilizing soil Cd. Abstract
Heavy metal contamination in agricultural soil and immobilization remediation have generated widespread concern in all areas of society. Sulfhydryl-functionalized materials as emerging amendments exhibit application potential, but the dose-effect relationship and immobilization mechanism are poorly understood. To understand the relationship between the immobilization effect and total sulfhydryl content, sulfhydryl-grafted palygorskite (SGP) with three sulfhydryl loading rates (0.88 mmol/g, 1.83 mmol/g, and 2.77 mmol/g) was prepared and characterized in the current study. The Cd immobilization efficiency and the dose-effect relationship were investigated via sorption in solutions, soil incubation, and field-scale wheat cultivation. 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, zeta potential, and potentiometric titration analyses confirmed that the sulfhydryl loading rates had little impact on the mineral structure but had a significant effect on the SGP surface properties. The sorption process of Cd2+ on SGP can be described by the 2nd order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm. The maximal sorption capacities had a linear relationship with the experimental sulfhydryl content in SGP. Meanwhile, SGP with three loading rates under different doses reduced available Cd concentrations in alkaline soil by 28.40 %-87.78 % in soil incubation and wheat grain Cd by 21.95 %-80.19 % in field-scale demonstration The relationship between immobilization efficiency and the total sulfhydryl group could be adequately described using the Michaelis-Menten equation. The sulfhydryl group was the key site for SGP amendments, which when added to the soil, reduced the bioavailability of soil Cd. Clarification of the dose-effect relationship will provide theoretical support for the accurate regulation of safe utilization of Cd-contaminated farmland.

Abstract
In this study, the inhibitive performance of pyridine-2-thiol added to a corrosive solution was investigated for brass using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrochemical experiments were performed with different inhibitor concentrations in 0.5 M H2SO4 as the corrosive medium. For potentiodynamic polarization, icorr values decreased significantly for the inhibited solutions in contrast with the uninhibited solution. Pyridine-2-thiol had an optimum inhibition concentration of 0.25 mM, giving an icorr value of 1.8 µA/cm2 compared to 26 µA/cm2 for the blank solution. EIS data indicated that Rp and Rct values increased substantially after the addition of the corrosion inhibitor and corrosion inhibition efficiencies of more than 85% was achieved for the majority of the inhibited solutions. Scanning electron microscopy showed defect free and less scale formation for the inhibited surface but the bare brass surface had larger amounts of scale formation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy was used to investigate surface chemical composition and inhibitor structural changes over time.

Abstract
Electrochemical, surface, and density functional theory (DFT)/Monte Carlo (MC) simulation studies were used in investigating the characteristics of N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-dimethylphenyl)formimidamide) (DS1), N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)formimidamide) (DS2), N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-dimesitylformimidamide) (DS3), and N,N'-(disulfanne-1,2-dicarbonothioyl)bis(N,N'-bis(2,6-dichlorophenyl)formimidamide) (DS4) as inhibitors of acid corrosion of mild steel. The inhibitors were found to effectively reduce the rates of steel dissolution at the anode as well as cathodic hydrogen evolution. The order of inhibition efficiencies of studied compounds is DS1 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 98.60/97.98/96.94%) > DS2 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 98.36/96.86/96.90%) > DS3 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 94.66/87.44/94.30%) > DS4 (PDP/LPR/EIS: 83.57/77.02/75.17%) at 1.00 mM, and the overall efficiencies appeared to depend on the molecular and electronic structures of the compounds. The compounds offered high resistance to charge transfer across the electrode/electrolyte system by forming adsorbed film whose resistance increased with an increase in concentration. Findings suggested that the adsorption process involved combined chemisorption and physisorption. DFT calculations and MC simulations provided theoretical justifications for the experimental results.
