Abstract
The role of parents in fostering children's healthy habits is a robust area of research. However, most of the existing literature predominantly focuses on mothers' parenting practices. Given the emergence of nuclear, dual earning families and the recent surge in maternal employment in urban India, fathers' engagement in child rearing and feeding warrants attention. The purpose of this research was to document the views of Indian fathers about paternal parenting practices, with an emphasis on children's diet among other health behaviors. Thirty-three fathers of children aged 6-59 months from Kolkata, India took part in semi-structured interviews conducted either face-to-face or over Zoom/telephone in Hindi, Bengali, and English. The interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim, and translated to English. The transcribed data were subjected to thematic analysis informed by the Template Analysis technique. Themes were detected using the NVivo software program. Overall, these Indian fathers played an important role in early childhood care and feeding as reflected in the following seven themes: (i) Involvement of fathers in various childcare activities; (ii) Implementation of responsive and non-responsive feeding practices; (iii) Concerns regarding fussy and slow eating; (iv) Concerns regarding excessive screen time; (v) Paternal vs maternal parenting; (vi) Barriers to routine engagement of fathers in childcare; (vii) Desire for more nutrition and health knowledge. This enhanced understanding of paternal parenting behavior supports the inclusion of fathers in future family-focused lifestyle interventions aimed at improving children's health outcomes, including their dietary habits.

Abstract
Industrial and human activities contribute significantly to the environmental contamination of heavy metal ions (HMIs), which have detrimental effects on aquatic life, plants, and animals, causing major toxicological problems. The commercially available 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonic acid (DSD) has been playing a vital role in the detection of heavy metal ions and has significantly inhibited a variety of cancer cells in numerous field of modern science. The current investigation aimed to ensure the detection of heavy metals ions from the environment and fluorescence imaging of DSD in the treatment of cancer cells. Fluorescence and UV-Visible spectroscopic analysis was performed to sense the selective behavior of the probe DSD with several heavy metal ions, including Fe2+, K1+, Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Sn2+, and Cr3+. Furthermore, DSD was subjected to examine enzyme inhibition such as anti-Alzheimer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, and antimicrobial activities in search of multifaceted drugs. Test compounds have demonstrated dose-dependent responses in the in-vitro enzyme inhibition assays for acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), cyclooxygenase (COX), and lipoxygenase (LOX), as well as antioxidant [DPPH = 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and ABTS = 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid]. The DSD were shown to be more effective than the conventional medication galantamine in inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), with an IC50 value of 12.18 and 20.87 μM, which is equivalent to the standard drug. The results obtained has revealed that DSD has the potential to become an effective sensor for the detection of Sn2+ ions over competing metal ions due to the inhibition of photo-induced electron transfer pathway (PET). The MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide tetrazolium) test, demonstrated that DSD had strong anticancer effects against the brain cancer cell line NIH/3T3, HeLa and MCF-7 with an IC50 value of 32.59, 15.31 and 96.46 μM respectively. The antimicrobial testing has shown that DSD outperforms the standard drug cefixime against Candida albicans and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. This study makes a substantial contribution to the ongoing search for efficient treatments for breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Investigate the association between the dietary diversity of preschool children and proximate factors including household food insecurity, maternal food choice, preferences, khat use, and levels of depressive symptoms. DESIGN Cross-sectional survey of randomly selected households. SETTING Haramaya Health and Demographic Surveillance site in Eastern Ethiopia, predominantly smallholder farming households. PARTICIPANTS 678 preschool children (24-59 months) and their mothers. METHODS The key outcome, the adequacy of dietary diversity of preschool children, was calculated using a 24-hour parental dietary recall. Binary logistic regression was then used to identify maternal and household factors associated with dietary adequacy versus inadequacy. RESULTS The majority (80.53%) of surveyed children had low dietary diversity (mean Dietary Diversity (MDD)) score of 3.06±1.70 on a 7-point scale). Approximately 80% of households exhibited food insecurity. Households with greater food security (adjusted OR (AOR)=1.96, 95% CI 1.19 to 3.23), healthier maternal food choice (AOR=2.19, 95% CI 1.12 to 4.31) and broader maternal food preferences (AOR=4.95, 95% CI 1.11 to 21.95) were all associated with higher dietary diversity of their preschool children (p≤0.05). Other covariates associated with adequate child dietary diversity included improved household drinking water sources (AOR=1.84, 95% CI 1.16 to 2.92) and family planning use (AOR=1.69, 95% CI 1.00 to 2.86). Despite predictions, however, maternal depression and khat consumption were not identified as factors. CONCLUSIONS The dietary diversity of preschool children is extremely low-a pattern observed in both food-secure and food-insecure households. Key factors include maternal selection of food for convenience and ease, preferences that do not include animal protein or healthier food choices, and lack of access to improved drinking water sources. Interventions around maternal food choice and preferences could improve preschool children's nutritional health.

Abstract
Child undernutrition persists in Cambodia despite recent progress. As Cambodia undergoes a shift in dietary consumption that coincides with economic, demographic, and epidemiologic changes, there is risk of ultra-processed foods and sugar-sweetened beverages displacing nutrient-dense foods during the critical period of infant growth in the first 24 months. The aim of this study was to assess the introduction and intake of foods of low nutritional value and sugar-sweetened beverages and their association with undernutrition among children 24 months of age in rural and semi-urban Cambodia. Cross-sectional analyses of a 24-h dietary recall from a sample (n = 377) of 24-month-olds found that the majority of infants had been introduced to packaged salty snacks and sweets by 12 months of age and to sugar-sweetened beverages by 15 months. By 24 months of age, 78% of children had consumed foods of low nutritional value and 57% consumed a sugar-sweetened beverage on the previous day. Multivariate logistic regression analyses demonstrated that infant intake of a flavored sugary drink on the previous day was associated with over two times the odds of both stunting and wasting, and consumption of packaged sweets on the previous day was associated with over two times the odds of wasting, but no association was found with stunting. These findings underscore the need to improve educational and policy interventions to support healthy feeding practices for infants and young children.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Efforts to prevent malnutrition in children under five are crucial for both short-term and long-term impact, especially in resource-constrained low- and middle-income countries, where ensuring minimal food diversity remains an urgent challenge. Our organization implemented initiatives to improve dietary diversity among children under five in rural areas of Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). METHODS We carried out educational and awareness programs directed at caregivers of children aged 6-59 months. These programs were delivered by healthcare professionals and trained community volunteers in specific areas of Xaybouathong District, Khammouane Province. To evaluate the impact of our interventions, we conducted surveys both at the beginning and end of the project. We designated the Individual Dietary Diversity Score IDDS as the objective variable, serving as an indicator of child dietary diversity. Using sociodemographic and economic indicators as explanatory variables, we assessed the impact of the intervention through multivariate analysis with a generalized linear model as well as a bivariate analysis. RESULTS The comparison between 210 children at baseline and 205 children at endline revealed a significant increase in IDDS among children aged 6-23 months (from 3.36 to 4.22) and children aged 24-59 months (from 3.29 to 3.83). Multivariate analysis indicated a significant association between the intervention effect (baseline vs. endline) and the village of residence. Furthermore, significant improvements were observed in each food group that constitute IDDS, including vegetables and fruits, eggs, and legumes and nuts. CONCLUSIONS Even in resource-limited settings, such as rural areas of Lao PDR, it is possible to improve child dietary diversity through educational approaches that encourage the utilization of locally available foods.

Abstract
The relative research on investigating the association between dietary diversity scores and anthropometric status among young children is few and inconsistent. Since understanding this association is quite essential to give more detailed advice about diet to ensure young children's healthy growth, we sought to determine the association between dietary diversity levels and anthropometric status among young children under 24 months. The study included 1408 mother-child pairs from the Tongji Maternal and Child Health Cohort, whose children range in age from 12 to 24 months. Multivariable logistic regressions were used to examine the effect of dietary diversity on children's anthropometric failure and obesity. All obese children aged 12 and 24 months had low-medium diverse diets in their first year of life. Risks of anthropometric failure for 12-month young children consumed low-medium diverse diets in their first year and 24-month young children consumed low-medium diverse diets in their second year are, respectively, 1.27 (odds ratio [OR], 95% confidence interval [CI] = [1.06-1.53]) and 1.19 (OR, 95% CI = [1.02-1.40]) times of those who consumed high diverse diets in corresponding year. The risk of anthropometric failure for 24-month-old children who consumed low-medium diverse diets during their first year of life is 4.70 (OR, 95% CI = [1.62-19.91]) times that of young children who consumed highly diverse diets during their first year of life. Introducing more diverse diets to young children under 24 months of age may be an effective strategy to prevent anthropometric failure and obesity in young children in later life.

Abstract
In Somalia, where a poorly diversified diet is leading to adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes, there is a significant dearth of evidence that needs to be studied. Hence, this study was to identify factors associated with minimum dietary diversity among pregnant women in Somalia. A facility-based survey was conducted among 361 pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) using a structured questionnaire. Dietary diversity was measured using consumption of 10-food groups. Bivariable and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses were used, along with odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. About 48.2% (42.9-53.5) of women had an inadequately diversified diet. The risk of having an inadequately diversified diet was higher among rural residents (AOR = 1.20; 0.30-4.75), multigravida (AOR = 2.85; 1.43-5.68), young women (AOR = 2.15; 0.82-5.61), extended families (AOR = 1.19; 0.68-2.10), with infrequent ANC visits (AOR = 4.12; 2.06-8.27), fewer frequent meals (AOR = 1.84; 1.09-3.10) and from food-insecure households (AOR = 3.84; 2.28-6.49) as compared to their counterparts. Consumption of poorly diversified diet was prevalent and associated with dietary diversity was prevalent among women which could be strongly predicted by parity, ante-natal care and food security, which needs to be targeted for interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The first 2 y of life mark critical changes in children's diet from milk-based food to diverse food rich in taste and texture, but few studies in low-resource settings have explored the changes in diet quality during this period. OBJECTIVES We examine temporal dietary diversity patterns between 6 and 25 mo of age and their associations with child growth outcomes in rural Vietnam. METHODS We used data from a prospective cohort (PRECONCEPT) and included 781 children that had dietary diversity data for 4 age windows: 6-8, 11-13, 17-19, and 23-25 mo of age. The temporal dietary diversity patterns were constructed by tracking how minimum dietary diversity changed over the 4 age windows. Multivariate logistic and linear regressions were used to assess the associations of dietary patterns with stunting and wasting at the 23-25 mo window and with relative linear and ponderal growth between 6 and 25 mo, respectively. RESULTS Two key aspects of diet quality (the introduction and the stability of diverse diet) were used to define 5 temporal dietary diversity patterns: timely-stable (30% of the sample), timely-unstable (27%), delayed-stable (16%), delayed-unstable (15%), and super-delayed (12%). Compared with timely-stable pattern (the most optimal pattern), timely-unstable and super-delayed patterns were associated with a higher risk of stunting (odds ratio [OR]: 1.78; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.05, 3.04 and OR: 1.98; 95% CI: 1.02, 3.80, respectively) and slower linear growth (β: -0.24; 95% CI: -0.43, -0.06 and β: -0.25; 95% CI: -0.49, -0.02, respectively). No associations were found for wasting and relative ponderal growth. CONCLUSIONS Delayed introduction of a diverse diet and failure to maintain a diverse diet are associated with slower linear growth but not ponderal growth in the first 2 y of age. Abstract
This narrative review revises the scientific evidence of recent years on healthy eating in children and adolescents, making sense of promising avenues of action, from a food system perspective. A conceptual framework is provided to better understand how eating habits of children and adolescents are shaped to identify key multisectoral approaches that should be implemented to promote healthier diets. The following influencing factors are discussed: individual factors (physiological and psychological factors, food preferences and food literacy competencies), factors within the personal and socio-cultural food environments, external food environments, and the supply chain. In each section, the main barriers to healthy eating are briefly discussed focussing on how to overcome them. Finally, a discussion with recommendations of actions is provided, anchored in scientific knowledge, and transferable to the general public, industry, and policymakers. We highlight that multidisciplinary approaches are not enough, a systems approach, with a truly holistic view, is needed. Apart from introducing systemic changes, a variety of interventions can be implemented at different levels to foster healthier diets in children through fostering healthier and more sustainable food environments, facilitating pleasurable sensory experiences, increasing their food literacy, and enhancing their agency by empowering them to make better food related decisions. Acknowledging children as unique individuals is required, through interpersonal interactions, as well as their role in their environments. Actions should aim to enable children and adolescents as active participants within sustainable food systems, to support healthier dietary behaviours that can be sustained throughout life, impacting health at a societal level.

Abstract
Concurrent wasting and stunting (WaSt) is a serious form of malnutrition among young children, particularly vulnerable groups affected by the conflict. Understanding the prevalence and risk factors of WaSt among vulnerable children is important to develop effective intervention measures to reduce the burden of WaSt. The present study aimed to identify the prevalence of and risk factors for WaSt among marginalised children aged 6-59 months in Sana'a city, Yemen. A community-based cross-sectional design was conducted on a total sample size of 450 marginalised children aged 6-59 months who lived at home with their mothers. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed and the prevalence of WaSt was found to be 10⋅7 %. Children aged 24-59 months were protected from WaSt (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 0⋅40, 95 % confidence interval (CI) 0⋅21, 0⋅75). A higher prevalence of WaSt was associated with male sex (AOR 2⋅31, 95 % CI 1⋅13, 4⋅71), no history of being breastfed (AOR 3⋅57, 95 % CI 1⋅23, 10⋅39), acute diarrhoea (AOR 2⋅12, 95 % CI 1⋅12, 4⋅02) and family income sources of assistance from others (AOR 2⋅74, 95 % CI 1⋅08, 6⋅93) or salary work (AOR 2⋅22, 95 % CI 1⋅10, 4⋅47). Continued breast- and bottle-feeding were not associated with WaSt in children aged 6-23 months. Mothers' age, education and work status, family size and drinking water source were not associated with WaSt. Overall, we found that the prevalence of WaSt among marginalised children remained high. Interventions to improve household income, hygienic conditions and child feeding practices are necessary to promote child growth.

Abstract
Adequate dietary quality is necessary for children's appropriate development and may be influenced by family factors. This study with 24 healthy 3-5-year-old children assessed the associations of parental stress and household food insecurity (HFI) with a child's dietary quality. Parents completed three 24 h dietary recalls, and the Healthy Eating Index was calculated to assess dietary quality. Parents also completed a questionnaire, including The Perceived Stress Scale (assessing overall parental stress) and the Hunger Vital Sign screen (assessing HFI). Children's height/weight were measured, and BMIz was calculated. Separate multivariable linear regression models assessed the association of dietary quality components with HFI and parental stress, adjusting for household income, child sex, and child BMI z-score. In bivariate analyses, children with HFI consumed more added sugars, and parental stress was associated with the child's greens/beans intake. In multivariable analysis, HFI was associated with lower total protein scores and higher added sugar intake, while parental stress was associated with lower greens/beans intake. Higher household income was associated with higher total vegetable and sodium intake, and children with a higher BMIz had a lower total protein intake. Parental stress and HFI can impact a child's dietary quality; providers should counsel families on strategies to improve diet quality.

Abstract
Background The prevalence of stunting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is one of the highest globally. However, only a few studies have attempted to measure the association between stunting and vegetation, which is an important food source. The leaf area index (LAI) is an excellent measure for the vegetation state. Objective This paper intended to measure the association between the LAI and stunting among children under five years of age in the DRC. Its aim was to better understand the boundary conditions of stunting and explore potential links to climate and environmental change. Methods This paper adopts a secondary data analysis approach. We used data on 5241 children from the DRC Demographic Health Survey (DHS) 2013-2014, which was collected from a nationally representative cross-sectional survey. We used the satellite-derived LAI as a measure for the state of vegetation and created a 10-km buffer to extract each DHS cluster centroid's corresponding mean leaf-area value. We used a generalised mixed-effect logistic regression to measure the association between LAI and stunting, adjusting the model for mother's education, occupation and birth interval, as well as child's age and national wealth quintile. A height-for-age Z-score (HAZ) was calculated and classified according to WHO guidelines. Results Children in communities surrounded by high LAI values have lower odds of being stunted (OR [odds ratio] = 0.63; 95% CI [confidence interval] = 0.47-0.86) than those exposed to low LAI values. The association still holds when the exposure is analysed as a continuous variable (OR = 0.84; 95% CI = 0.74-0.95).When stratified in rural and urban areas, a significant association was only observed in rural areas (OR = 0.6; 95% CI = 0.39-0.81), but not in urban areas (OR = 0.9; 95% CI = 0.5-0.5). Furthermore, the study showed that these associations were robust to LAI buffer variations under 25 km. Conclusions Good vegetation conditions have a protective effect against stunting in children under five years of age. Further advanced study designs are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
The BLOOM study (co-Benefits of Largescale Organic farming On huMan health) aims to determine if a government-implemented agroecology programme reduces pesticide exposure and improves dietary diversity in agricultural households. To achieve this aim, a community-based, cluster-randomised controlled evaluation of the Andhra Pradesh Community-managed Natural Farming (APCNF) programme will be conducted in 80 clusters (40 intervention and 40 control) across four districts of Andhra Pradesh state in south India. Approximately 34 households per cluster will be randomly selected for screening and enrolment into the evaluation at baseline. The two primary outcomes, measured 12 months post-baseline assessment, are urinary pesticide metabolites in a 15% random subsample of participants and dietary diversity in all participants. Both primary outcomes will be measured in (1) adult men ≥18 years old, (2) adult women ≥18 years old, and (3) children <38 months old at enrolment. Secondary outcomes measured in the same households include crop yields, household income, adult anthropometry, anaemia, glycaemia, kidney function, musculoskeletal pain, clinical symptoms, depressive symptoms, women's empowerment, and child growth and development. Analysis will be on an intention-to-treat basis with an a priori secondary analysis to estimate the per-protocol effect of APCNF on the outcomes. The BLOOM study will provide robust evidence of the impact of a large-scale, transformational government-implemented agroecology programme on pesticide exposure and dietary diversity in agricultural households. It will also provide the first evidence of the nutritional, developmental, and health co-benefits of adopting agroecology, inclusive of malnourishment as well as common chronic diseases. Abstract
Background: Based on the Indonesian Toddler Nutrition Status Survey in 2021, it was found that the stunting rate in Indonesia reached 24.4%, which means there were 5.33 million indicated stunting.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to detect the causative factors and effectiveness of stunting interventions in the E stunting application.
Methods: The type of the research is quantitative analytic with cross sectional approach using double linear regression analytic test with p = 0.05. The difference test used an unpaired sample test analytic by looking at the difference in mean in the control and treatment groups. The population uses totality sampling with the rule of thumb technique. This research instrument uses a minimum diet diversity questionnaire, diet diversity, parenting model, as well as a questionnaire with a Likert scale and has been through validity and reliability tests.
Results: The results of the determinant coefficient test have a relationship between the independent and dependent variables, while Adjusted R2 = 0.803 which means 80.3% of all variables affect the z score in children, while the difference test result obtained a result of sig 2 tailed = 0.001 and the value of Sig Levene's test for equality variance of 0.44 > 0.001
Conclusion: There is an effect of frequency of eating, number of types of food, eating culture, history of breastfeeding, complementary feeding, perception, knowledge of the z score (stunting events). And E stunting is effective in assessing the causative factors and treatment in cases of infants with stunting
