Abstract
Vitamins comprise a group of organic chemical compounds that contribute significantly to the normal functioning of living organisms. Although they are biosynthesized in living organisms, some are also obtained from the diet to meet the needs of organisms, which is why they are characterized as essential chemical compounds. The lack, or low concentrations, of vitamins in the human body causes the development of metabolic dysfunctions, and for this reason their daily intake with food or as supplements, as well as the control of their levels, are necessary. The determination of vitamins is mainly accomplished by using analytical methods, such as chromatographic, spectroscopic, and spectrometric methods, while studies are carried out to develop new and faster methodologies and techniques for their analysis such as electroanalytical methods, the most common of which are voltammetry methods. In this work, a study is reported that was carried out on the determination of vitamins using both electroanalytical techniques, the common significant of which is the voltammetry technique that has been developed in recent years. Specifically, the present review presents a detailed bibliographic survey including, but not limited to, both electrode surfaces that have been modified with nanomaterials and serve as (bio)sensors as well as electrochemical detectors applied in the determination of vitamins.

Abstract
Analysis of protein content of food is necessary for quality control and is essential for precise labeling. Protein analysis is an issue of great economic and social fondness. Cereals are one of the most important sources of protein in food, livestock and poultry feed. In this article, the technique of extracting protein in 4 types of grains and measuring it by the Bradford method is discussed. The results obtained from this method are compared with the data obtained by the Kjeldahl method. This comparison showed that the Bradford method is more accurate in measuring proteins. Extraction of protein using NaOH at pH 13 can be used as a modified method to release proteins in soybean meal and consequently a Fast and accurate high-performance laboratory determination method for protein content via the Bradford method. The optimum pH value was identified as that of 13 in optimum temperature 40 °C for maximum protein extraction yield (43.6%, w/w). The new method used in this paper has resulted in the measurement of grain protein in the shortest time and with the least toxicity and the highest accuracy.

Advancement in electrochemical strategies for quantification of Brown HT and Carmoisine (Acid Red 14) Drom Azo Dyestuff class. Food Chem Toxicol 2022; 165:113075. [PMID: 35487338 DOI: 10.1016/j.fct.2022.113075] [Citation(s) in RCA: 9] [Impact Index Per Article: 4.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/01/2022] [Revised: 04/16/2022] [Accepted: 04/22/2022] [Indexed: 12/24/2022]
Abstract
Brown HT and carmoisine, which are the most used dyestuffs in pharmaceuticals, textiles, cosmetics and foods, are important components of the Azo family. Although the Azo group is not toxic or carcinogenic under normal conditions, these dyestuffs require great care due to the reduction of the Azo functional group to amines. In particular, fast, reliable, easy, on-site and precise determinations of these substances are extremely necessary and important. In this review, the properties, applications, and electrochemical determinations of brown HT and carmoisine, which are used as synthetic food colorants, are discussed in detail. Up to now, sensor types, detection limits (LOD and LOQ), and analytical applications in the developed electrochemical strategies for both substances were compared. In addition, the validation parameters such as the variety of the sensors, sensitivity, selectivity and electrochemical technique in these studies were clarified one by one. While the electrochemical techniques recommended for brown HT were mostly used for the removal of dyestuff, for carmoisine they included fully quantitative centered studies. The percentiles of voltammetric techniques, which are the most widely used among these electroanalytical methods, were determined. The benefits of a robust electrochemical strategy for the determination of both food colors are summed up in this review. Finally, the brown HT and carmoisine suggestions for future perspectives in electrochemical strategy are given according to all their applications.

Abstract
Environment contamination is a colossal worriment across the world, owing to its detrimental and negative impact on health and ecological systems. Dyes are one of the synthetic organic chemicals that are utilised in a variety of fields, including textiles. As a result, throughout one's production and subsequently in fibre colouring, these are becoming frequent industry-contributed contaminants. Increasing globalisation of international market has presented a problem to textile sector in terms of consistency and production. Textile processors' primary concern, as the highly competitive environment and environmental standards grow more severe is about being mindful of the grade of goods and even non-toxicity of their production processes. There seems to be an immediate necessity to look for methods and technologies which are useful in removing dye colours. Even though each has benefits and weaknesses, many physical, chemical, and biological approaches were explored and used with the application being dependent on the effluent properties, technical feasibility, and cost. Several remediation technologies are already developed, but they seem to be ineffective at removing dyes completely. There is a fast growth of nanoparticles applications in the past few years which has opened up newer, innovating, highly efficient, and low-cost dyes remediation systems. Nanomaterials with large surface areas change surface characteristics and distinctive electron conducting capabilities which make them ideal candidate for the treatment of wastewater that contains dyes. In this review, we have highlighted not only the role of nanotechnology in dye remediation processes but also different types of nanomaterials that can be used for the remediation of dyes.

Abstract
A tripod organic compound, (4,4',4''-[1,3,5-Triazine-2,4,6-triyltris(oxy)] tribenzoic acid, TCPT), with donor triazine core and multiple fluorophore carboxylic motives, was prepared as an efficient ligand with high emission properties. The TCPT fluorescence emission properties as a chemical sensor were studied (λex = 370nm) upon the addition of an appropriately diverse set of metal cations. The obtained results revealed the highly selective and efficient role of Cu2+ in quenching of TCPT, even with relevant interfering metal ions. The emission of TCPT was independent of the pH. The interaction of the sensor with Cu2+ and followed by absorption spectra and linear trend of the Stern-Volmer diagram, suggested a static quenching process. The density functional theory calculations were carried out to explore the identity of the electronic transition levels, HOMO-LUMO, and bandgap energies of TCPT. The linear range 1.00×10-7-1.00×10-6 M was obtained by fluorescence titration of a TCPT solution with Cu2+ ions at optimum conditions. The detection limit was calculated as 5.45×10-8 M from the established calibration of titration data. The effect of various ions was studied, and there was no significant interference from the studied metal ions. For the real sample analysis, trace levels of Cu2+ ions were successfully determined in the tomato.

Abstract
This work reports the synthesis of the silver-platinum bimetallic nanoparticles (N@Pt-Ag BNPs) reduced by an ethanolic extract of black seed (Nigella sativa, N) using the green synthesis method, these nanoparticles show a great antibacterial, anticancer, and catalytic activity. The characterization of physicochemical properties of Ag-Pt BNP was carried out using UV-visible spectroscopy (Uv-vis), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. The structural morphology shows that the N@Pt-Ag BNPs are spherical particles with a diameter of 5.6 nm. The cytotoxic effects of N@Pt-Ag BNPs were examined by MTT test in human breast cancer, human colon cancer, human pancreatic cancer, L929-Murine fibroblast cells. N@Pt-Ag BNPs have been observed to be much more effective in breast cancer cell lines. The cytotoxic effect of N@Pt-Ag BNPs against healthy L929-murine fibroblast cell lines was not observed. Also, high antibacterial activity on each of the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli), Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), where we note that most strains of E. coli and S. aureus were damaged with a 73% percentage, 67% bacterial inhibition respectively. The results of the catalytic activities of N@Pt-Ag BNPs were obtained by performing the hydrolysis experiments of sodium borohydride (NaBH4). According to the results obtained, TOF, enthalpy, entropy, and activation energy, values were found to be 2497.14 h-1, 13.52 kJ/mol, -137.47 J/mol.K, 16.02 kJ/mol, respectively. N@Pt-Ag BNPs were found to be highly effective catalysts for hydrogen production which this was also confirmed by the machine learning model. The photocatalytic activity of N@Pt-Ag BNPs was tested against methylene blue (MB) dye and the highest activity was found as 80%.

Abstract
This study provides a comprehensive review of the latest developments in the electrochemical impressions of the important dyestuffs including amaranth and carminic acid. Food colors are organic substances that have important effects on human health and food safety. While these substances do not pose a problem when used in the daily intake (ADI) amounts, they harm human health when consumed excessively. Amaranth and carminic acid are synthetic and natural food colors ingredients, respectively. Analysis of these substances in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and textile samples is extremely important because of their genotoxicity, cytostatic and cytotoxic effects. Electroanalytical methods, which have great advantages over traditional analytical methods, shed light on the scientific world. Electrochemical monitoring modules, which are fast, simple, accurate, reliable, and highly selective, are promising for the determination of both substances. Until now, amaranth and carminic acid food determinations have been carried out successfully with electrochemical monitoring techniques in many numbers in the literature. Voltammetric techniques are the most widely used among these electroanalytical methods. In particular, square wave and differential pulse voltammetric techniques, which have extraordinary properties, have been heavily preferred. Limits of detection (LOD) comparable to the standard analytical method have been achieved using these methods, which have very quick analysis durations, high precision and accuracy, do not require long preprocessing, and have great selectivity. In addition, more sensitive and selective analyses of amaranth and carminic acid in natural samples were carried out with numerous indicator electrodes. The merits of powerful electrochemical monitoring studies for the determination of both food colors during the last decade are presented in this study. Moreover, parameters such as analytical applications, detection limits, electrochemical methods, selectivity, working electrodes, and working ranges are summarized in detail.

Abstract
A highly sensitive and selective modified electrode was successfully developed for the monitoring of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) in the presence of folic acid. In this regard, a carbon paste electrode (CPE) was functionalized by the nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots/tin oxide (N-CQDs/SnO2) nanocomposite and 1-butyl-2,3-dimethyl imidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C4DMIM][PF6]) ionic liquid (IL). The structure and surface morphology of the nanocomposite were characterized by various methods, including field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The modified electrode displayed powerful and long-lasting electron mediating activity, with well-separated NADH and folic acid oxidation peaks. The sensing response of the developed [C4DMIM][PF6]/N-CQDs/SnO2/CPE platform was evaluated by determining NADH via the voltammetric technique under the optimized operating conditions. The current peaks of the square wave voltammograms of NADH and folic acid increased linearly with enhancing its concentrations within the ranges of 0.003-275μM NADH and 0.4-380μM folic acid. The detection limits for NADH and folic acid were obtained at 0.8 nM and 0.1μM, respectively. Interference species such as glucose, urea, tryptophan, glycine, methionine, and vitamin B12had no influence on the ability of the fabricated modified electrode to detect the target species. The low detection limit, high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, superior stability, and cost-effectiveness made it suitable for the quantification of NADH in the real biological samples with the recovery percent values in the range of 97.5%-103%.

Abstract
In this study, we prepared graphene oxide (GO)/ZIF-67 nanocomposites. Therefore, GO/ZIF-67 nanocomposites were used as a modifier on a screen-printed electrode (GO/ZIF-67/SPE) for studying the electrochemical behavior of epinine in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) at pH 7.0 with voltammetry techniques. The GO/ZIF-67/SPE showed greater electrocatalytic activities than the bare SPE. As a result, the GO/ZIF-67/SPE was utilized for additional electrochemical examinations. The epinine concentration determination was in the range 9.0 × 10-8 M to 5.0 × 10-4 M, and the limit of detection (LOD) as well as the limit of quantification (LOQ) equaled 2.0 and 6.6 nM, respectively. From the scan rate study, the oxidation of epinine was found to be diffusion-controlled, and the simultaneous detection of epinine and dobutamine were well achieved with the differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) technique. Moreover, the stability and reproducibility of epinine at the GO/ZIF-67/SPE was studied, and the use of the GO/ZIF-67/SPE to detect epinine and dobutamine in real samples was furthermore successfully demonstrated.

Electroanalytical Sensor. CURR ANAL CHEM 2022. [DOI: 10.2174/1573411017666210111095822] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/22/2022]
Abstract
Background:
A drug sensor (salicylic acid, in this case) was designed and made up of this research. The senor
was made by modification of paste electrode (MPE) with CuO-SWCNTs and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride
(HMICl). The MPE/CuO-SWCNTs/HMICl showed catalytic activity for the oxidation signal of salicylic acid in
phosphate buffer solution.
Methods:
Electrochemical methods were used as a powerful strategy for the determination of salicylic acid in
pharmaceutical samples. Aiming at this goal, carbon paste electrode was amplified with conductive materials and used as
a working electrode.
Results:
The MPE/CuO-SWCNTs/HMICl was used for the determination of salicylic acid in the concentration range of
1.0 nM – 230 µM using differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method. At pH=7.0, as optimum condition, the MPE/CuOSWCNTs/HMICl displayed a high-quality ability for the determination of salicylic acid in urine, pharmaceutical serum,
and water samples.
Conclusion:
The MPE/CuO-SWCNTs/HMICl was successfully used as a new and high performance working electrode
for the determination of salicylic acid at a nanomolar level and in real samples.

Liu G, Yang X, Ye W, Zhu J, Xie K, Fu L. Application of Solid-state Electrochemical Analysis in Ancient Ceramic
Identification and Characterization: A Review. CURR ANAL CHEM 2022. [DOI: 10.2174/1573411016999200806155426] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/22/2022]
Abstract
Background:
Ceramics can reflect ancient technology and art, therefore, it has a very important position in
archaeology. However, it is far from enough just to study the shape of pottery and porcelain. It is necessary to use advanced
scientific and technological means to conduct a comprehensive analysis of pottery and porcelain, so as to study the
information hidden deep in the remains of ceramic objects.
Methods:
The solid voltammetric method can be used to obtain information about the composition of materials used in
ancient ceramics. This new method can be applied to insoluble solids for example, providing qualitative and quantitative
information and structural information with little soluble solids. The method requires only ng-μg sample.
Results:
In this review, we first describe the development of solid-state voltammetric method and our work in this field.
Then, we describe in detail the application of this method in archaeology, especially in the analysis of ceramics. Finally, we
describe the analytical applications of other electrochemical techniques for ceramics analysis.
Conclusion:
Due to the low demand for samples and the high-cost performance of analytical instruments, this method has
been widely studied in Europe. To sum up, we propose to establish a microsampling method for ancient ceramics. A new
method for the protection of fine ancient ceramics by the suitable carrier and the fixation on the surface of the electrode.
These improvements can enable solid-state electroanalytical chemistry technology to achieve more comprehensive and
accurate quantitative analysis of ancient ceramics particles. We also propose the current challenges and future directions of
solid-state electroanalytical chemistry.

Abstract
Background:
Modified electrodes have advanced from the initial studies aimed at understanding
electron transfer in films to applications in areas such as energy production and analytical
chemistry. This review emphasizes the major classes of modified electrodes with mediators
that are being explored for improving analytical methodology. Chemically modified electrodes
(CMEs) have been widely used to counter the problems of poor sensitivity and selectivity faced in
bare electrodes. We have briefly reviewed the organometallic and organic mediators that have been
extensively employed to engineer adapted electrode surfaces for the detection of different compounds.
Also, the characteristics of the materials that improve the electrocatalytic activity of the
modified surfaces are discussed.
Objective:
Improvement and promotion of pragmatic CMEs have generated a diversity of novel
and probable strong detection prospects for electroanalysis. While the capability of handling the
chemical nature of the electrode/solution interface accurately and creatively increases , it is predictable
that different mediators-based CMEs could be developed with electrocatalytic activity and
completely new applications be advanced.

Abstract
:
N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium-ion liquids is one of the important ionic liquids with a wide range of application as
conductive electrolyte and in electrochemistry. The modified electrodes create a new view in fabrication of
electroanalytical sensors. Many modifiers have beeen suggested for modification of electroanalytical sensor since many
years ago. Over these years, ionic liquids and especially room temperature ionic liquids have attracted more attention due
to their wide range of electrochemical windows and high electrical conductivity. N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium-ion liquids are
one of the main important ionic liquids suggested for modification of bare electrodes and especially carbon paste
electrodes. Although many review articles have reported onthe use of ionic liquids in electrochemical sensors, no review
article has been specifically introduced so far on the review of the advantages of N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium ionic liquid.
Therefore, in this review paper we focused on the introduction of recent advantages of N,Nʹ-dialkyl imidazolium ionic
liquid in electrochemistry.

Abstract
Diagnosis of cancer in the early stages can help treat efficiently and reduce cancerrelated
death. Cancer biomarkers can respond to the presence of cancer in body fluids before the
appearance of any other symptoms of cancer. The integration of nanomaterials into biosensors as
electrochemical platforms offer rapid, sensitive detection for cancer biomarkers. The use of surface-
modified electrodes by carbon nanomaterials and metal nanoparticles enhances the performance
of electrochemical analysis in biosensing systems through the increase of bioreceptors loading
capacity on the surface. In this review, novel approaches based on nanomaterial-modified systems
in the point of care diagnostics are highlighted.

Abstract
Peroxidases are species-specific. Differences in peroxidase can objectively reflect the genetics among species. The use of peroxidase to assist in species identification is relatively simple and effective. In this work, we proposed a graphene-modified electrode. This electrode can amplify the signal of electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide. Since peroxidase can catalyze the reduction of hydrogen peroxide, this signal can be used as an indicator to demonstrate the content of peroxidase in different plant tissues. Twelve herbal medicines were selected for our study. The results show that this electrochemical-based detection technique was comparable to colorimetric method in terms of accuracy.

Abstract
Abstract
The objective of this study was the estimation of the content of 13 mycotoxins (diacetoxyscirpenol, T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin, nivalenol, deoxynivalenol, 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol, fusarenone X, aflatoxin B1, aflatoxin B2, aflatoxin G1, aflatoxin G2, ochratoxin A, and zearalenone) in various products from the eastern part of Poland. The content of mycotoxins in the analysed samples was assayed using the extraction method combined with HPLC-MS/MS analysis. We found mycotoxins in 25 of the 92 samples tested (27%). Contamination with mycotoxins was noted most frequently in samples of cereals – 56% – and also in samples of flour and cocoa, in which a content of mycotoxins was noted in 24 and 16% of the samples, respectively. The most frequently identified were the following – deoxynivalenol detected in 18 samples (72%), zearalenone detected in eight samples (32%), toxin HT-2 detected in four samples (16%), ochratoxin A identified in three samples (12%), and toxin T-2 detected in one sample (4%). In one analysed sample of mixed flour and in one analysed sample of wheat and rye flour, the maximum allowable concentration was exceeded in the case of two identified mycotoxins – deoxynivalenol (2,250 μg/kg) and ochratoxin A (15.6 and 17.1 μg/kg).

Abstract
Folic acid (FA) is the synthetic surrogate of the essential B vitamin folate, alternatively named folacin, pteroylglutamic acid or vitamin B9. FA is an electroactive compound that helps our body to create and keep our cells healthy: it acts as the main character in a variety of synthetic biological reactions such as the synthesis of purines, pyrimidine (thus being indirectly implied in DNA synthesis), fixing and methylation of DNA. Therefore, physiological folate deficiency may be responsible for severe degenerative conditions, including neural tube defects in developing embryos and megaloblastic anaemia at any age. Moreover, being a water-soluble molecule, it is constantly lost and has to be reintegrated daily; for this reason, FA supplements and food fortification are, nowadays, extremely diffused and well-established practices. Consequently, accurate, reliable and precise analytical techniques are needed to exactly determine FA concentration in various media. Thus, the aim of this review is to report on research papers of the past 5 years (2016-2020) dealing with rapid and low-cost electrochemical determination of FA in food or biological fluid samples.

Abstract
Vitamins are essential compounds to yeasts, and notably in winemaking contexts. Vitamins are involved in numerous yeast metabolic pathways, including those of amino acids, fatty acids, and alcohols, which suggests their notable implication in fermentation courses, as well as in the development of aromatic compounds in wines. Although they are major components in the course of those microbial processes, their significance and impact have not been extensively studied in the context of winemaking and wine products, as most of the studies focusing on the subject in the past decades have relied on relatively insensitive and imprecise analytical methods. Therefore, this review provides an extensive overview of the current knowledge regarding the impacts of vitamins on grape must fermentations, wine-related yeast metabolisms, and requirements, as well as on the profile of wine sensory characteristics. We also highlight the methodologies and techniques developed over time to perform vitamin analysis in wines, and assess the importance of precisely defining the role played by vitamins in winemaking processes, to ensure finer control of the fermentation courses and product characteristics in a highly complex matrix.

Abstract
A new electrochemical platform was suggested for the sensing of the dasatinib (DA) anticancer drug based on paste electrode modification (PE) amplified with Fe3O4-SWCNTs nanocomposite and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (mim-BF4−). The new platform showed a linear dynamic range from 0.001–220 µM with a detection limit of 0.7 nM to determine DA at optimal condition. Electrochemical investigation showed that the redox reaction of DA is relative to changing the pH of solution. Moreover, Fe3O4-SWCNTs/mim-BF4−/PE has improved the oxidation current of DA about 5.58 times which reduced its oxidation potential by about 120 mV at optimal condition. In the final step, Fe3O4-SWCNTs/mim-BF4−/PE was used as an analytical platform to determine the DA in tablets and a dextrose saline spike sample, and the results showed recovery data 99.58–103.6% which confirm the powerful ability of the sensor as an analytical tool to determine the DA in real samples.

Abstract
Background: Bionanotechnology, as a tool for incorporation of biological molecules into nanoartifacts, is gaining more and more importance in the field of food packaging. It offers an advanced expectation of food packaging that can ensure longer shelf life of products and safer packaging with improved food quality and traceability. Scope and approach: This review recent focuses on advances in food nanopackaging, including bio-based, improved, active, and smart packaging. Special emphasis is placed on bio-based packaging, including biodegradable packaging and biocompatible packaging, which presents an alternative to most commonly used non-degradable polymer materials. Safety and environmental concerns of (bio)nanotechnology implementation in food packaging were also discussed including new EU directives. Conclusions: The use of nanoparticles and nanocomposites in food packaging increases the mechanical strength and properties of the water and oxygen barrier of packaging and may provide other benefits such as antimicrobial activity and light-blocking properties. Concerns about the migration of nanoparticles from packaging to food have been expressed, but migration tests and risk assessment are unclear. Presumed toxicity, lack of additional data from clinical trials and risk assessment studies limit the use of nanomaterials in the food packaging sector. Therefore, an assessment of benefits and risks must be defined.

A portable selective electrochemical sensor amplified with Fe3O4@Au-cysteamine-thymine acetic acid as conductive mediator for determination of mercuric ion. Talanta 2021; 221:121669. Abstract
Mercury ion (Hg2+) is considered to be one of the most toxic heavy metal ions and can cause adverse effects on kidney function, the central nervous system, and the immune system. Therefore, it is important to develop a fast and simple method for sensitive and selective detection of Hg2+ in the environment. This research proposes a portable electrochemical sensor for rapid and selective detection of Hg2+. The sensor platform is designed based on thymine acetic acid anchored with cysteamine-conjugated core shell Fe3O4@Au nanoparticles (Fe3O4@Au/CA/T-COOH) immobilized on a sensing area of a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) with the aid of an external magnetic field embedded in a homemade electrode holder for ease of handling. In the presence of Hg2+, the immobilized thymine combines specifically with Hg2+ and forms a thymine-Hg2+-thymine mismatch (T-Hg2+-T). The resulting amount of Hg2+ was determined by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). Under optimal conditions, the sensor exhibited two wide linearities in a range from 1 to 200 μg L-1 and 200-2200 μg L-1 with the reliability coefficient of determination of 0.997 and 0.999, respectively. The detection limit (LOD) and the quantification limit (LOQ) were also determined to be 0.5 μg L-1 and 1.0 μg L-1, respectively. The sensor was further applied for determination of Hg2+ in water samples, a certified reference material and fish samples. The results were compared with flow injection atomic spectroscopy-inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (FIAS-ICP-OES) systems as a reference method. Results obtained with the proposed sensor were relatively satisfactory, and they showed no significant differences at a 95% confidence level by t-test from the standard method. Therefore, considering its fast and simple advantages, this novel strategy provides a potential platform for construction of a Hg2+ electrochemical sensor.

Abstract
A new protocol for the analysis of the azo-dye carmoisine (CMS) is presented by coupling differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) with a cathodically pretreated boron-doped diamond electrode (CPT-BDDE), in phosphate buffer solution (pH 2.0). The CMS presented diffusion-controlled oxidation and reduction peaks at +0.88 and -0.15 V vs Ag/AgCl, respectively. The effect of the pretreatment conditions, pH, and supporting electrolytes were evaluated to the voltammetric determination of CMS. Under optimized conditions, the differential pulse voltammetric signals for CMS were linear over the concentration range of 0.059-1.31 μmol L-1 and 0.010-0.079 μmol L-1 with limits of detection of 7.0 and 3.0 nmol L-1, for the anodic and cathodic processes respectively. The method was precise for CMS determination (RSD < 5.0%) and selective against other dyes. The developed protocol was successfully applied in the analysis of CMS in surface water and foodstuffs with accurate results in comparison with those obtained using a validated spectrophotometric method.

Abstract
Measurement of levodopa (LD) as the most efficient treatment accessible for controlling the symptoms of Parkinson's disease was investigated. The electrocatalytic measurement of LD was performed at the surface of pencil graphite electrode (PGE) modified with graphene oxide (GO) and silver nanoparticle@Dawson heteropolyacid (AgNPs@DHPA). For this purpose, GO and the intermediate (AgNPs@DHPA) were first synthesized using a simple, cost-effective and straightforward method. The synthetic compounds, morphology, and surface characteristics of the modified sensor were evaluated. The results demonstrated that AgNPs@DHPA well-dispersed on the GO/PGE surface with a mean size of 6.27 nm and thickness of 42 nm. The electrochemical behavior of the modified PGE was also investigated. The heterogeneous charge transfer rate constant (ks) and transfer coefficient (α) for the electron transfer between AgNPs@DHPA/GO and PGE were obtained as 16.44 s-1 and 0.59, respectively. Also, the diffusion coefficient of LD for AgNPs@DHPA/GO/PGE thin film was calculated using chronoamperometric experiments (D = 9.05 × 10-6 cm2 s-1). Optimal parameters were obtained to access the best response for the measurement of LD. The results revealed that the modified PGE was able to measure the trace amounts of LD in phosphate buffer solution (pH = 6.0) in the concentration ranges from 3.0 × 10-9 to 1.0 × 10-7 M and 1.0 × 10-7 to 1.0 × 10-5 M. The calculated limit of detection was obtained 7.6 × 10-10 M which was much better than the previously reported electrochemical sensors. The modified electrode was used to measure LD in tablet, blood serum and urine.

Abstract
In this study, a Pt-Pd-doped NiO nanoparticle decorated at the surface of single-wall carbon nanotubes (Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNTs) was synthesized using a simple chemical precipitation method and characterized by XRD, TEM, and EDS methods. The results confirmed that Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNTs were synthesized with good purity and at the nanoscale size. Moreover, a highly sensitive electroanalytical sensor was fabricated by incorporating synthesized Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNT nanocomposites into a carbon paste electrode (CPE) in the presence of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methanesulfonate (EMICH3SO3-) as binder. The Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNTs/EMICH3SO3-/CPE showed a powerful electro-catalytic activity for electro-oxidation of nalbuphine, and the results confirmed that the oxidation of nalbuphine was improved 6.34 times and relative oxidation potential was decreased about 110 mV compared to unmodified electrodes. The Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNTs/EMICH3SO3-/CPE also showed good catalytic activity for the determination of nalbuphine in the presence of tramadol and the oxidation potential of these opioid analgesic drugs separated with ΔE =460 mV. In the final step, the Pt-Pd/NiO-NPs/SWCNTs/EMICH3SO3-/CPE was used to determine nalbuphine with a detection limit of 0.9 nM and tramadol with a detection limit of 50.0 nM in drug samples. The results confirmed the powerful and interesting ability of the sensor in the analysis of a real sample.
