Abstract
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are synthetic antibodies developed to bind selectively with specific molecules. They function through a particular recognition process involving their cavities and functional groups. Nevertheless, functional groups located outside these cavities are the main cause of non-specific molecule binding, thus reducing the effectiveness of MIPs in sensing applications. This work focused on enhancing the selectivity and performance of MIPs through electrostatic modification with surfactants. The study investigates the use of two surfactants, namely sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), to eliminate non-specific adsorption in MIPs. The binding isotherms of the target molecule sulfamethoxazole (SMX) on MIPs and non-imprinted polymers (NIPs) were analyzed, showing higher adsorption capacity of MIPs due to the specific cavities. The modification with SDS or CTAB effectively eliminated non-specific adsorption in MIPs. The kinetic adsorption behavior further demonstrated the efficacy of MIP+--SDS/CTAB in the selective adsorption of SMX. Calibration curves showcase the methodology's analytical capabilities, achieving low limit of detection for SMX 6 ng mL-1 using MIP +-SDS. The stability study confirmed that the developed MIP +/--SDS/CTAB remains stable even at high temperatures, demonstrating its suitability for on-site applications. The methodology was successfully applied to detect SMX in milk and water samples, achieving promising recoveries. Overall, the electrostatic modification of MIPs with surfactants emerges as a valuable strategy for enhancing selectivity and performance in target molecule recognition and detection.

Abstract
Paper-based electrochemical analytical devices (ePADs) have gained significant interest as promising analytical units in recent years because they can be fabricated in simple ways, are low-cost, portable, and disposable platforms that can be applied in various fields. In this sense, paper-based electrochemical biosensors are attractive analytical devices since they can promote diagnose several diseases and potentially allow decentralized analysis. Electrochemical biosensors are versatile, as the measured signal can be improved by using mainly molecular technologies and nanomaterials to attach biomolecules, resulting in an increase in their sensitivity and selectivity. Additionally, they can be implemented in microfluidic devices that drive and control the flow without external pumping and store reagents, and improve the mass transport of analytes, increasing sensor sensitivity. In this review, we focus on the recent developments in electrochemical paper-based devices for viruses' detection, including COVID-19, Dengue, Zika, Hepatitis, Ebola, AIDS, and Influenza, among others, which have caused impacts on people's health, especially in places with scarce resources. Also, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the main electrode's fabrication methods, device designs, and biomolecule immobilization strategies. Finally, the perspectives and challenges that need to be overcome to further advance paper-based electrochemical biosensors' applications are critically presented.

Abstract
In this study, simultaneous analysis on electrochemical detection of SMX and TMP in tablet formulation has been made using graphene oxide (GO) and ZnO QDs (GO-ZnO QDs) based nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The functional group presence was observed using FTIR study. The electrochemical characterization for GO, ZnO QDs and GO-ZnO QDs was studied using cyclic voltammetry using [Fe(CN)6]3- medium. In order to estimate the electrochemical redox behavior of SMX and TMP from tablet, the developed electrodes GO/GCE, ZnO QDs/GCE and GO-ZnO QDs/GCE are initially tested for electrochemical activity towards the SMX tablet in BR pH 7 medium. Later their electrochemical sensing has been monitored using square wave voltammetry (SWV). On observing the characteristic behavior of developed electrodes, GO/GCE exhibited detection potential of +0.48 V for SMX and +1.37 V for TMP whereas, ZnO QDs/GCE with +0.78V for SMX and for TMP 1.01 V respectively. Similarly, for GO-ZnO QDs/GCE, its 0.45 V for SMX and 1.11 V for TMP are observed using cyclic voltammetry. The obtained potential results on detecting SMX and TMP are in good agreement with previous results. Under optimized conditions, the response has been monitored with linear concentration range 50 μg/L to 300 μg/L for GO/GCE, ZnO QDs/GCE and GO-ZnO QDs/GCE in SMX tablet formulations. Their detection limits for the individual detection using GO-ZnO/GCE for SMX and TMP are found to be 0.252 ng/L and 19.10 μg/L and for GO/GCE it was 0.252 pg/L and 2.059 ng/L respectively. It was observed that ZnO QDs/GCE could not provide the electrochemical sensing towards SMX and TMP which may be due to the ZnO QPs can act as a blocking layer impeding the electron transfer process. Thus, the sensor performance lead to promising biomedical applications in real-time monitoring on evaluating selective analysis with SMX and TMP in tablet formulations.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor detection of sulfamethoxazole was performed using a copper oxide Molybdenum sulfide modified glassy carbon electrode using Molybdenum sulfide (CuO/MoS2) functionalization. As part of the characterization process, materials were characterized via cyclic voltammetry (CV), Square wave voltammetry (SWV), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To optimize the performance of the experiment, parameters like the scan rate and pH, the electrolytes study, the stability, the comparative study and repeatability were optimized. In comparison to CuO, MoS2 and bare Glassy carbon electrode (GCE), an electrochemical sensor that incorporated CuO/MoS2 exhibited exceptional electrochemical performance. CuO/MoS2 modified electrodes showed a higher peak current for oxidation compared with bare, CuO and MoS2 modified electrodes, which demonstrated enhanced electrochemical conductivity for detection of SMX by minimizing oxidation potential from +0.18 V to +0.10 V. In the range of 100-800 μl SMX concentrations, the peak current linearly correlated with the concentration of SMX. In the calibration plot, the modified electrode showed linearity under ideal circumstances for SMX concentrations starting at 0.3 μM. This study investigated the presence of SMX with a detection limit of 0.34 Pg/L. CuO/MoS2 based electrochemical sensor, according to our analysis, are potentially useful in applications requiring the detection of trace amounts of SMX.

Abstract
The present paper reports a simple, fast, and inexpensive process of manufacturing a disposable pencil graphite electrode (PGE) from widely available materials, which showed a reproducibility of at least 7.5%. The electrode was compared to the commercial glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and showed superior electroanalytical performance for sulfanilamide (SFA) with approximately 3.9-fold higher current density. Additionally, a displacement of the oxidation peak from approximately 80 mV to more cathodic regions was observed. Therefore, a method based on square wave voltammetry (SWV) was developed for the determination of the antimicrobial SFA in honey and tap water samples using the proposed sensor. The optimized method presented good detectability (LOD = 2.37 μmol L-1), with excellent precision and accuracy (relative standard deviation < 4.2%) and percent recovery from spiked samples ranging from 92 to 97%. In addition, the sensor did not suffer significant interference from sample matrix components and other commonly evaluated antimicrobials, which demonstrates the potential of these electrodes for implementation in routine analysis and quality control.

Abstract
Silver materials are known to present excellent properties, such as high electrical and thermal conductivity as well as chemical stability. Silver-based inks have drawn a lot of attention for being compatible with various substrates, which can be used in the production uniform and stable pseudo-reference electrodes with low curing temperatures. Furthermore, the interest in the use of disposable electrodes has been increasing due to the low cost and the possibility of their use in point-of-care and point-of-need situations. Thus, in this work, two new inks were developed using Ag as conductive material and colorless polymers (nail polish (NP) and shellac (SL)), and applied to different substrates (screen-printed electrodes, acetate sheets, and 3D-printed electrodes) to verify the performance of the proposed inks. Measurements attained with open circuit potential (OCP) attested to the stability of the potential of the pseudo-reference proposed for 1 h. Analytical curves for β-estradiol were also obtained using the devices prepared with the proposed inks as pseudo-references electrodes, which presented satisfactory results concerning the potential stability (RSD < 2.6%). These inks are simple to prepare and present great alternatives for the development of pseudo-reference electrodes useful in the construction of disposable electrochemical systems.

Abstract
The degradation of sulfacetamide with the formation of sulfanilamide leads to a deterioration in the quality of pharmaceuticals. In this work, potentiometric sensors for the simultaneous determination of sulfanilamide, sulfacetamide and inorganic ions, and for assessing the degradation of pharmaceuticals were developed. A multisensory approach was used for this purpose. The sensor cross-sensitivity to related analytes was achieved using perfluorosulfonic acid membranes with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) or polyaniline as dopants. The composite membranes were prepared by oxidative polymerization and characterized using FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and SEM. The influence of the preparation procedure and the dopant concentration on the membrane hydrophilicity, ion-exchange capacity, water uptake, and transport properties was investigated. The characteristics of the potentiometric sensors in aqueous solutions containing sulfanilamide, sulfacetamide and alkali metals ions in a wide pH range were established. The introduction of proton-acceptor groups and π-conjugated moieties into the perfluorosulfonic acid membranes increased the sensor sensitivity to organic analytes. The relative errors of sulfacetamide and sulfanilamide determination in the UV-degraded eye drops were 1.2 to 1.4 and 1.7 to 4%, respectively, at relative standard deviation of 6 to 9%.

Abstract
A simple and time-saving colorimetric method was developed to quantify sulfonamides (SAAs) in milk via inhibition of the human carbonic anhydrase II (hCAII)-like activity of ZIF-8 that can hydrolyze p-nitrophenyl acetate (pNPA) to p-nitrophenol (pNP), following the color change from yellow to colorless. Effects of different reaction conditions, including pH, temperature, amount of ZIF-8, and incubation time, were investigated. The value of Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) is measured to be 0.15 mM, which exhibits high affinity to pNPA. The IC50 (0.17, 0.24, and 0.60 mM) and inhibition constant (Ki) (0.09, 0.13, and 0.33 mM) of sulfamethazine (SD), sulfadimethoxine (SDM), and sulfathiazole (ST) on ZIF-8 were measured, respectively. Moreover, the activity of ZIF-8 remains more than 90.0% of its initial activity after 30 days' storage. The colorimetric method for SD, SDM, and ST determination was established at the linear ranges of 6.3-750.0 μM (1.75-208.75 mg/kg), 6.3-750.0 μM (1.96-232.75 mg/kg), and 5.0-1250.0 μM (1.28-319.15 mg/kg) with limit of detection of 4.3, 3.2, and 3.9 mΜ (1.2, 0.99, and 0.96 mg/kg), respectively. In addition, the spiked recoveries of SAAs in milk sample are in the range of 81.6%-106.7% with RSD less than 6.5%. In short, the developed colorimetric method can achieve rapid analysis of SAAs in milk with simple operations.
