Abstract
Two catecholase-like biomimetic catalysts, namely, two dinuclear copper complexes [Cu2(L1)(OH)(H2O)(EtOH)][ClO4]2 (C1) and [Cu2Ac2O(L1)ClO4] (C2) with the 2,6-bis(4-methyl piperazin-1-yl-methyl)-4-formyl-phenoxy ligand (L1) together with the mononuclear complex Cu(ClO4)2(L2) (C3) containing ligand 1,2-(C5H4N-6-OCH3-2-CHN)2CH2CH2 (L2), were synthesized. Their catalytic pathways were investigated and compared. The evaluation of the catalytic activity of compound C1 (and C2, C3) using the Michaelis-Menten model was represented by values of KM = 272.93 (223.02; 1616) μmol L-1 and Vmax of 0.981 (1.617; 1.689) μmol L-1 s-1. The role of water content in the solvent is also discussed. The dinuclear complexes C1 and C2 were found to be more efficient catalysts than mononuclear complex C3. The mode of catalytic action was characterized via cyclic voltammetry, spectrophotometry, and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The catalytic mechanism of 3,5-di-tert butyl catechol oxidation in the presence of oxygen was proposed. The reaction circle was proved by the confirmation of the chemical reversibility of complex reduction. The advantage of the in situ spectroelectrochemical measurement enabled to control the reduction of quinone formed by the chemical reaction of catechol with oxygen in solution. At this step, the simultaneous change in the absorption spectrum indicated a change in the copper redox state of the catalyst.

Abstract
A copper(II) dimer with the deprotonated anion of 2-bromo-nicotinic acid (2-BrnicH), namely, tetrakis(μ-2-bromonicotinato-κ2 O:O')bis[aquacopper(-II)](Cu-Cu), [Cu2(H2O)2(C6H3BrNO2)4] or [Cu2(H2O)2(2-Brnic)4], (1), was prepared by the reaction of copper(II) chloride dihydrate and 2-bromo-nicotinic acid in water. The copper(II) ion in 1 has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment, achieved by four carboxyl-ate O atoms in the basal plane and the water mol-ecule in the apical position. The pair of symmetry-related copper(II) ions are connected into a centrosymmetric paddle-wheel dinuclear cluster [Cu⋯Cu = 2.6470 (11) Å] via four O,O'-bridging 2-bromo-nicotinate ligands in the syn-syn coordination mode. In the extended structure of 1, the cluster mol-ecules are assembled into an infinite two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network lying parallel to the (001) plane via strong O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of various hydrogen-bond ring motifs: dimeric R 2 2(8) and R 2 2(16) loops and a tetra-meric R 4 4(16) loop. The Hirshfeld surface analysis was also performed in order to better illustrate the nature and abundance of the inter-molecular contacts in the structure of 1.

Abstract
A series of heteroleptic metal(II) complexes of formulation [M(Tm)(diimine)](ClO4) (1-8), [Tm = hydrotris(methimazolyl)borate, diimine = 2,2'-bipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline and M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) or Zn(II)] have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The geometric parameters of the complexes were determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The analyses of HOMO and LUMO have been used to explain the charge transfer within the molecule. Antimicrobial activity of the synthesized heteroleptic complexes were evaluated against two Gram (-ve) (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae) and two Gram (+ve) (Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial, and three fungal (Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Candida krusei) strains with respect to the standard drugs erythromycin and amphotericin-B. The copper(II) complex 6 showed better scavenging activity against DPPH when compared to other complexes. The cytotoxic activity of copper(II) complexes 5 and 6 against MCF-7 cell line was assessed by MTT assay, which showed exponential responses toward increasing concentration of complexes. In the molecular docking studies, the complexes showed π-π, σ-π, hydrogen bonding, van der Waals and electrostatic interactions with FGFR kinase receptor.

Abstract
The reaction of soft tripodal scorpionate ligand, sodium hydrotris(methimazolyl)borate with M(ClO4)2·6H2O [MMn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) or Zn(II)] in methanol leads to the cleavage of B-N bond followed by the formation of complexes of the type [M(MeimzH)4](ClO4)2·H2O (1-4), where MeimzH=methimazole. All the complexes were fully characterized by spectro-analytical techniques. The molecular structure of the zinc(II) complex (4) was determined by X-ray crystallography, which supports the observed deboronation reaction in the scorpionate ligand with tetrahedral geometry around zinc(II) ion. The electronic spectra of complexes suggested tetrahedral geometry for manganese(II) and nickel(II) complexes, and square-planar geometry for copper(II) complex. Frontier molecular orbital analysis (HOMO-LUMO) was carried out by B3LYP/6-31G(d) to understand the charge transfer occurring in the molecules. All the complexes exhibit significant antimicrobial activity against Gram (-ve) and Gram (+ve) bacterial as well as fungal strains, which are quite comparable to standard drugs streptomycin and clotrimazole. The copper(II) complex (3) showed excellent free radical scavenging activity against DPPH in all concentration with IC50 value of 30μg/mL, when compared to the other complexes. In the molecular docking studies, all the complexes showed hydrophobic, π-π and hydrogen bonding interactions with BSA. The cytotoxic activity of the complexes against human hepatocellular liver carcinoma (HepG2) cells was assessed by MTT assay, which showed exponential responses toward increasing concentration of complexes.

Abstract
A new class of phenol based unsymmetrical side-off tetra and hexa coordinate homobinuclear Cu(II) and heterobinuclear Cu(II)-Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by elemental and spectral analysis. The electronic spectra of all the complexes show "Red shift" in LMCT band, for the ligand H(2)L(2) compared to that of the ligand H(2)L(1) due to the relatively higher electron donating nature of their substitutents. The homobinuclear Cu(II) complexes (1 and 2) illustrate an antiferromagnetic interaction (μ(eff): 1.58 and 1.60BM) at 298K with a broad EPR signal. Variable temperature magnetic moment study of the binuclear copper (II) complexes shows that the extent of antiferromagnetic coupling is greater in the case of H(2)L(2) complexes than H(2)L(1) complexes (-2J values: 192cm(-1) and 184cm(-1) respectively). The heterobinuclear Cu(II)-Zn(II) complexes (3 and 4) have a magnetic moment value close to the spin only value with four hyperfine EPR signals. Electrochemical studies of the complexes reveal that all the binuclear complexes show two irreversible one-electron transfer reduction waves in the cathodic region. There is an "anodic shift" in the first reduction potential of the complexes, of the ligand H(2)L(1) when compared to that of the ligand H(2)L(2) due to the presence of relatively higher electron donating N-substituents in the later case than in the former case. The catecholase activity of the complexes reveals that the homobinuclear Cu(II) complexes show higher catalytic activity than the corresponding heterobinuclear Cu(II)-Zn(II) complexes. In the hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenylphosphate, the heterobinuclear Cu(II)-Zn(II) complexes show better catalytic activity than the corresponding homobinuclear Cu(II) complexes.

Abstract
A novel (N6O4) macrocyclic ligand (L) and its Cu(II) complexes have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, spectral, thermal (TG/DTG), magnetic, and conductivity measurements. Quantum chemical calculations have also been carried out at B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) to study the structure of the ligand and one of its complexes. The results show a novel macrocyclic ligand with potential amide oxygen atom, amide and amine nitrogen atoms available for coordination. Distorted square pyramidal ([Cu(L)Cl]Cl·2.5H2O (1), [Cu(L)NO3]NO(3)·3.5H2O (2), and [Cu(L)Br]Br·3H2O (4) and octahedral ([Cu(L)(OAc)2]·5H2O (3)) geometries were proposed. The EPR data of 1, 2, and 4 indicate d1x2(-y)2 ground state of Cu(II) ion with a considerable exchange interaction. The measured cytotoxicity for L and its complexes (1, 2) against three tumor cell lines showed that coordination improves the antitumor activity of the ligand; IC50 for breast cancer cells are ≈8.5, 3, and 4 μg/mL for L and complexes (1) and (2), respectively.
