Abstract
Arynes hold significance for the efficient fusion of (hetero) arenes with diverse substrates, advancing the construction of complex molecular frameworks. Employing multiple equivalents of arynes is particularly effective in the rapid formation of polycyclic cores found in optoelectronic materials and bioactive compounds. However, the inherent reactivity of arynes often leads to side reactions, yielding unanticipated products and underlining the importance of a detailed investigation into the use of multiple arynes to fine-tune their reactivity. This review centers on methodologies and syntheses in organic reactions involving multiple arynes, categorizing based on mechanisms like cycloadditions, σ-bond insertions, nucleophilic additions, and ene reactions, and discusses aryne polymerization. The categorization based on these mechanisms includes two primary approaches: the first entails multiple aryne engagement within a single step while the second approach involves using a single equivalent of aryne sequentially across multiple steps, with both requiring strict reactivity control to ensure precise aryne participation in each respective step. Additionally, the review provides an in-depth analysis of the selection of aryne precursors, organized chronologically and by activation strategy, offering a comprehensive background that supports the main theme of multiple aryne utilization. The expectation remains that this comprehensive review will be invaluable in designing advanced syntheses engaging multiple arynes.

Abstract
A series of benzotrithiophene-based compounds (DCTM1-DCTM6) having D1-π1-D2-π2-A configuration were designed using a reference molecule (DCTMR) via incorporating pyrrole rings (n = 1-5) as the π-spacer (π2). Quantum chemical calculations were performed to determine the impact of the pyrrole ring on the nonlinear optical (NLO) behavior of the above-mentioned chromophores. The optoelectronic properties of the compounds were determined at the MW1PW91/6-311G(d,p) functional. Among all of the derivatives, DCTM5 exhibited the least highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) band gap (Eg) 0.968 eV with a high softness of 0.562 eV-1, and hence possessed the highest polarizability. Interestingly, transition density matrix (TDM) findings demonstrated that DCTM5 with an effective diagonal charge transmission proportion at the acceptor group supports the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) results. Additionally, the exciton binding energy values for DCTM1-DCTM6 were found to be less than that for DCTMR and thus, the effective charge transfer was examined in the derivatives. All of the derivatives exhibited effective NLO outcomes with the highest magnitude of linear polarizability ⟨α⟩, and first (βtot) and second (γtot) hyperpolarizabilities relative to the parent compound. Nevertheless, the highest βtot and γtot were obtained for DTCM1 and DTCM6, 7.0440 × 10-27 and 22.260 × 10-34 esu, respectively. Hence, through this structural tailoring with a pyrrole spacer, effective NLO materials can be obtained for optoelectronic applications.

Abstract
The organic compounds are known as an emerging class in the field of nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. In this paper, D-π-A configured oxygen containing organic chromophores (FD2-FD6) were designed by incorporating various donors in the chemical structure of FCO-2FR1. This work is also inspired by the feasibility of FCO-2FR1 as an efficient solar cell. Theoretical approach involving DFT functional i.e., B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) was utilized to achieve useful information regarding their electronic, structural, chemical and photonic properties. The structural modifications revealed significant electronic contribution in designing HOMOs and LUMOs for the derivatives with lowered energy gaps. The lowest HOMO-LUMO band gap obtained was 1.223 eV for FD2 compound in comparison to the reference molecule (FCO-2FR1) i.e., 2.053 eV. Moreover, the DFT findings revealed that the end-capped substituents play a key role in enhancing the NLO response of these push-pull chromophores. The UV-Vis spectra of tailored molecules revealed larger λ max values than the reference compound. Furthermore, strong intramolecular interactions showed the highest stabilization energy (28.40 kcal mol-1) for FD2 in the natural bond orbitals (NBOs) transitions, combined with the least binding energy (-0.432 eV). Successfully, the NLO results were favorable for the same chromophore (FD2) which showed the highest value for dipole moment (μ tot = 20.049 D) and first hyper-polarizability (β tot = 11.22 × 10-27 esu). Similarly, the largest value for linear polarizability ⟨α⟩ was obtained as 2.936 × 10-22 esu for FD3 compound. Overall, the designed compounds were calculated with greater NLO values as compared to FCO-2FR1. The current study may provoke the researchers towards designing of highly efficient NLO materials via using the suitable organic linking species.

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Polyanilines and Their Nanocomposites: A Critical Review. Polymers (Basel) 2022; 15:polym15010133. Abstract
The mechanochemical synthesis of polyanilines (PANIs), made by oxidative polymerization of anilines, is reviewed. First, previous knowledge of the polymerization reaction in solution is discussed to understand the effect of different parameters: oxidant/monomer ratio, added acid, oxidant, temperature and water content on the properties of the conducting polymers (molecular weight, degradation, doping/oxidation level, conductivity, and nanostructure). The work on mechanochemical polymerization (MCP) of anilines is analyzed in view of previous data in solution, and published data are critically reconsidered to clarify the interpretation of experimental results. A key factor is the production of acids during polymerization, which is often overlooked. The production of gaseous HCl during MCP of aniline hydrochloride is experimentally observed. Since some experiments involves the addition of small amounts of water, the kinetics and heat balance of the reaction with concentrated solutions were simulated. A simple experiment shows fast (<2 min) heating of the reaction mixture to the boiling point of water and temperature increments are observed during MCP in a mortar. The form and sizes of PANI nanostructures made by MCP or solution are compared. The extensive work on the production of nanocomposites by MCP of anilines together with different nanomaterials (porous clays, graphene, carbon nanotubes, metal, and oxide nanoparticles) is also described.

Abstract
This review addresses the latest advancements in the integration of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) materials with polymer electrospinning, to accomplish fine-scale electrospun fibers with tunable photophysical and photochemical properties. Micro- and nanoscale fibers augmented with AIE dyes (termed AIEgens) are bespoke composite systems that can overcome the limitation posed by aggregation-caused quenching, a critical deficiency of conventional luminescent materials. This review comprises three parts. First, the reader is exposed to the basic concepts of AIE and the fundamental mechanisms underpinning the restriction of intermolecular motions. This is followed by an introduction to electrospinning techniques pertinent to AIE-based fibers, and the core parameters for controlling fiber architecture and resultant properties. Second, exemplars are drawn from latest research to demonstrate how electrospun nanofibers and porous films incorporating modified AIEgens (especially tetraphenylethylene and triphenylamine derivatives) can yield enhanced photostability, photothermal properties, photoefficiency (quantum yield), and improved device sensitivity. Advanced applications are drawn from several promising sectors, encompassing optoelectronics, drug delivery and biology, chemosensors and mechanochromic sensors, and innovative photothermal devices, among others. Finally, the outstanding challenges together with potential opportunities in the nascent field of electrospun AIE-active fibers are presented, for stimulating frontier research and explorations in this exciting field.

Abstract
A family of fully bridged triphenylamines with embedded 5- and 7-membered rings is presented. The compounds are potent electron donors capable to undergo donor/acceptor interactions with strong cyano-based acceptors both in the solid state and solution. These interactions were evaluated by IR and UV/vis spectroscopy as well as X-ray crystallography. The vinylene-bridged compound was oxidized to the corresponding 1,2-diketone which readily underwent acid-catalyzed condensation with selected 1,2-phenylenediamines. The resulting π-extended quinoxaline derivatives represent valuable building blocks for the development of functional chromophores upon appropriate functionalization.

Enriching NLO efficacy via designing non-fullerene molecules with the modification of acceptor moieties into ICIF2F: an emerging theoretical approach. RSC Adv 2022; 12:13412-13427. Abstract
Non-fullerene (NF)-based compounds have attracted much attention as compared to fullerene-based materials because of their promising optoelectronic properties, lower synthetic cost and greater stability. Usually, the end-capped groups have a promising impact in magnifying the nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristics in the non-fullerene molecules. Based on this, a series of new NLO active non-fullerene molecules (NFAD2-NFAD6) have been established. The non-fullerene molecules (NFAD2-NFAD6) were designed by end-capped modification in acceptor moieties of the reference (NFAR1), while donor and π-bridge moieties were kept the same in the entire series. Quantum chemistry-based calculations at the M06/6-311G(d,p) level were done to determine the NLO characteristics and for other supportive analyses. The acceptor and donor moieties were utilized at the opposite terminals of NFAD2-NFAD6, which proved to be an effective approach in tuning the FMO band gap. Overall the results of natural bond orbital (NBO), density of state (DOS) and transition density matrices (TDMs) analyses supported the NLO properties of the designed compounds. Among all the studied compounds, NFAD4 was proven to be the most suitable candidate due to its promising NLO properties, well supported by a lower bandgap of 1.519 eV and a maximum absorption wavelength of 999.550 nm. Therefore, NFAD4 was reported with greater amplitude of dipole polarizability (10.429 e.s.u), average polarizability (2.953 × 10-22 e.s.u), first hyperpolarizability (13.16 × 10-27 e.s.u.) and second hyperpolarizability (2.150 × 10-31 e.s.u.) than other derivatives and NFAR1. Subsequently, the present study depicted the significance of utilizing different non-fullerene (NF)-based acceptor moieties to achieve the promising NLO material. This computational study may lead towards new plausible pathways for researchers to design potent NLO substances for impending hi-tech applications.

Abstract
We synthesized a new poly(triphenylamine), having a hyperbranched structure, and employed it in lithium-ion batteries as an organic cathode material. Two types of monomers were prepared with hydroxyl groups and nitro leaving groups, activated by a trifluoromethyl substituent, and then polymerized via the nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction. The reactivity of the monomers differed depending on the number of hydroxyl groups and the A2B type monomer with one hydroxyl group successfully produced poly(triphenylamine). Based on thermal, optical, and electrochemical analyses, a composite poly(triphenylamine) electrode was made. The electrochemical performance investigations confirmed that the lithium-ion batteries, fabricated with the poly(triphenylamine)-based cathodes, had reasonable specific capacity values and stable cycling performance, suggesting the potential of this hyperbranched polymer in cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract
The crystal structure was determined for the first time for 4-[(di-p-tolyl-amino)benzylidene]-(5-pyridin-4-yl-[1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-imine (trans-PPL9) by X-ray diffraction. The imine crystallized in the monoclinic P21/n space group with a = 18.9567(7) Å, b = 6.18597(17) Å, c = 22.5897(7) Å, and β = 114.009(4)°. Intermolecular interactions in the PPL9 crystal were only weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds investigated using the Hirshfeld surface. The electronic and geometric structure of the imine were investigated by the density functional theory and the time-dependent density-functional theory. The properties of the imine in neutral and protonated form with camforosulphonic acid (CSA) were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Theoretical and experimental studies showed that for the 1:1 molar ratio the protonation occured on nitrogen in pyridine in the PPL9 structure, as an effect of Brönsted acid-base interactions. Thermographic camera was used to defined defects in constructed simple devices with ITO/PPL9 (or PPL9:CSA)/Ag/ITO architecture. In conclusion, a thermally stable imine was synthesized in crystalline form and by CSA doping, a modification of absorption spectra together with reduction of overheating process was observed, suggesting its potential application in optoelectronics.

Abstract
A new unsymmetrical imine with four thiophene rings was synthesized in a one-step reaction, starting from the commercially available and relatively inexpensive reagents. The obtained imine in the form of thin films exhibited photoluminescence properties in the 1.8-2.4 eV energy range and a photoluminescence lifetime of about 0.3 ns. The HOMO and LUMO levels of the imine determined by cyclic voltammetry were at about -5.19 eV and -3.05 eV, respectively. The density functional theory was applied to calculate the geometric and electronic structure of the imine. The UV-Vis spectra showed that the absorption range of the imine overlaps with that of PC70BM, and the absorption peak at the maximum of the imine at 424 nm is located between the two maxima at 404 nm and 461 nm of the fullerene derivative. The electron acceptor and donor activity of the imine was tested in the solar cell architecture: glass/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/active layer/In/Al. The best photovoltaic parameters, with very good reproducibility for each 8 pixels in the cell, were found for the active layer based on ternary mixture PTB7:PC70BM:imine at a weight ratio 8 : 13 : 1, with the power conversion efficiency of about 4%. The external quantum efficiency of devices with the imine was found to be about 40% at 3.3 eV. The thermal imaging together with the recorded current response at increasing potential showed that the presence of imine in the composition has a beneficial impact in terms of current flow stability at temperatures above 200 °C, compared to two component layers with the same imine as an additive.

Abstract
A new electroactive monomer with two 2,5-di(2-thienyl)pyrrole (SNS) units and one diphenylpyrenylamine (DPPA) subunit, namely N,N-bis(4-(2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-phenyl)-1-aminopyrene (DPPA-2SNS), was synthesized from 1,4-di-(2-thienyl)butane-1,4-dione with N,N-di(4-aminophenyl)-1-aminopyrene through the Paal–Knorr condensation reaction. Visible and near-infrared (NIR) electrochromic polymer films could be facilely generated on the ITO-glass surface by the electrochemical polymerization of DPPA-2SNS in an electrolyte solution. The electro-synthesized polymer films exhibit multi-staged redox processes and multi-colored anodic electrochromic behavior. A multi-colored electrochromism, with yellowish orange, greyish blue, and purplish black colors, was observed in the polymer film by applying a positive potential. The polymer films exhibit reasonable coloration efficiency, fast response time, and good cycling stability, especially when switched between neutral and the first oxidation states. For comparison, N-(1-pyrenyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)pyrrole (Py-SNS) was also prepared and characterized with electrochemical and electro-optical properties.

Abstract
In this paper, four new aromatic imines containing at least one thiazole-based heterocycle were analyzed in detail by UV-Vis spectroscopy, taking into consideration their chemical structures and interactions with PTB7, a known polymeric electron donor widely used in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells. It is demonstrated that the absorption spectra of the investigated active compositions can be modified not only by changing the chemical structure of imine, but also via formulations with PTB7. For all investigated imines and PTB7:imine compositions, calibration curves were obtained in order to find the optimum concentration in the composition with PTB7 for expansion and optimization of absorption spectra. All imines and PTB7:imine compositions were investigated in 1,2-dichlorobenzene by UV-Vis spectroscopy in various concentrations, monitoring the changes in the π-π* and n-π* transitions. With increasing imine concentrations, we did not observe changes in absorption maxima, while with increasing imine concentrations, a hypochromic effect was observed. Finally, we could conclude that all investigated compositions exhibited wide absorptions of up to 800 nm and isosbestic points in the range of 440-540 nm, confirming changes in the macromolecular organization of the tested compounds. The theoretical calculations of their vibration spectra (FTIR) and LUMO-HOMO levels by Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods are also provided. Finally, IR thermal images were measured for organic devices based on imines and the imine:PTB7 composite.

Abstract
The electropolymerized films of poly(L)n on an indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrode was prepared by anodic electrooxidation of a dichloromethane solution of a triphenylamine-carrying organic molecule L and were characterized/studied by ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and photoelectrochemical measurements. Poly(L)n films were found to show surface-controlled TPA•+1/0 associated quasi-reversible redox and exceptionally high photocurrent generation properties. At a zero external bias potential and under 100 mW/cm2 white light irradiation, a photoelectrochemical device composed of a poly(L)1-modified ITO as the working electode, a platinum disk counter electrode, and saturated calomel electrode reference electrode in a 0.1 M Na2SO4 aqueous solution exhibited a significant cathode photocurrent density of 2.2 μA/cm2, which could be switched to be anodic and outperform most previously reported molecule-based modified ITO electrodes under similar experimental conditions. The results indicate that poly(L)n films offer a number of future perspectives ranging from organic photovoltaic to photoelectrochemical catalysis and sensing.

Abstract
3,6-Di-O-hexanoyl-N-[4-(N,N-diphenylamino)-1-phenyl] thiocarbamoyl chitosan was prepared from 3,6-di-O-hexanoyl chitosan isothiocyanate in a 78% yield, and spin-coated films of the chitosan derivative and tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium (Ir(ppy)3) were fabricated. Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra and photoluminescence spectra of the films indicated efficient Förster energy transfer from the chitosan derivative to the Ir(ppy)3. An electroluminescent device using both compounds emitted green luminescence when voltage was applied. The results suggested that the regio-selectively substituted chitosan derivative could be used as a scaffold in the emitting layer of organic light emitting diode.

Abstract
Organic molecules with electron acceptors or withdrawal substituents terminal at π-conjugated system are promising candidates to be explored as materials with high linear and nonlinear optical properties. On the basis of these features, a novel asymmetric azine ( 7E, 8E)-2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-benzylidene)-1-(4-nitrobenzylidene)hydrazineC15H13N3O4 (NMZ) was synthesized. The molecular structure of NMZ was elucidated by X-ray crystallography and the supramolecular arrangement was analyzed from Hirshfeld surface methodology. An iterative electrostatic scheme using a super molecule approach, where neighboring molecules are represented by charge points, was employed to investigate optical dipole moment (μ), the linear polarization (α) and the first (β) and second (γ) hyperpolarizabilities. The NMZ crystallized in the centrosymetric space group P21/n and packs via combined O-H···O, C-H···O, and N···π interactions. The macroscopic property of third order χ(3) found for the NMZ is 298.62 times greater than values reported for chalcone derivative (2 E)-1-(3-bromophenyl)-3-[4 (methylsulfanyl)phenyl]prop-2-en-1-one. The results for NMZ indicate a good nonlinear optical effect.

Abstract
Animals such as chameleons possess a natural ability to adjust their skin color as a preventive measure to deter any potential threat and to self-heal damaged skin tissues. Inspired by this, we present here a copolymer film possessing biomimetic properties that simultaneously integrates electrochromic triphenylamine and self-healing Diels-Alder groups. The flexible and stretchable copolymer film acts like natural chameleon skin, which exhibits significant color variation and also possesses excellent self-healing properties. These remarkable features make it a promising material for overcoming the crack-generation issue inherited by conventional biomimetic chameleon skin. Moreover, a flexible and wearable skin device based on the copolymer film with silver fabric as a electrode has also been fabricated. The electrochromic and self-healing properties were verified for the copolymer film, and it has been elucidated that the intelligent biomimetic "chameleon skin" was a new step toward the development of highly advanced biomimetic materials and devices.

Abstract
Three soluble hyperbranched polyazomethines containing oligosiloxane end group HBP-PAZ-SiOn were successfully synthesized. HBP-PAZ-SiOns were used as modifiers of ethyl cellulose (EC) and polysulfone (PS) membranes. Blend membranes, HBP-PAZ-SiOn /EC and HBP-PAZ-SiOn /PS were prepared by blending the THF solution of HBP-PAZ-SiOn with ethanol solution of EC and dichloromethane solution of PS, respectively. Surprisingly, the permeabilities for CO2 of the blend membranes were more than 15-16 times higher than those of pure EC and PS membranes without any drop of pemselectivity to N2. This unusual improvement has been achieved by both enhancement of diffusivity for carbon dioxide and nitrogen by the oligosiloxane groups and enhancement of affinity of the amino groups with carbon dioxide at the end groups of HBP-PAZ-SiOn .

Abstract
Two electropolymerizable monomers with a methoxytriphenylamine core linked via amide groups to two triphenylamine (TPA) or N-phenylcarbazole (NPC) terminal groups, namely 4,4'-bis(4-diphenylaminobenzamido)-4''-methoxytriphenylamine (MeOTPA-(TPA)₂) and 4,4'-bis(4-(carbazol-9-yl)benzamido)-4''-methoxytriphenylamine (MeOTPA-(NPC)₂), were synthesized and characterized by FTIR and ¹H NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical polymerization reactions of these MeOTPA-cored monomers over indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode allow the generation of electroactive poly(amide-amine) films. The electro-generated polymer films exhibited reversible redox processes and multi-colored electrochromic behaviors upon electro-oxidation, together with moderate coloration efficiency and cycling stability. The optical density changes (ΔOD) were observed in the range of 0.18⁻0.68 at specific absorption maxima, with the calculated coloration efficiencies of 42⁻123 cm²/C. Single-layer electrochromic devices using the electrodeposited polymer films as active layers were fabricated for the preliminary investigation of their electrochromic applications.

Abstract
Two series of polyamides and polyimides containing bulky trityl-substituted triphenylamine units were synthesized from condensation reactions of 4,4′-diamino-4′′-trityltriphenylamine with various dicarboxylic acids and tetracarboxylic dianhydrides, respectively. The polymers showed good solubility and film-forming ability. Flexible or robust films could be readily obtained via solution-casting. The use of aliphatic diacid or dianhydride reduces interchain charge transfer complexing and leads to colorless polyamide and polyimide films. These polymers showed glass-transition temperatures in the range of 206–336 °C. Cyclic voltammograms of the polyamide and polyimide films displayed reversible electrochemical oxidation processes in the range of 0–1.0 or 0–1.3 V. Upon oxidation, the color of polymer films changes from colorless to blue-green or blue. As compared to the polyimide counterparts, the polyamides showed lower oxidation potentials and thus a higher electrochromic stability and coloration efficiency. Simple electrochromic devices were also fabricated as a preliminary investigation for electrochromic applications of the prepared polymers.

Abstract
Two bisimide compounds, TPA–TPDI and NPC–TPDI, consisting of a triptycene core and two triphenylamine (TPA) or N-phenylcarbazole (NPC) end groups were successfully synthesized by the condensation reactions from 1,4-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)triptycene dianhydride with 4-aminotriphenylamine and N-(4-aminophenyl)carbazole, respectively. These two monomers could polymerize electrochemically via the oxidative coupling reactions of triarylamine units. The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of the electro-generated triptycene poly(ether-imide)s (TPA–TPPI and NPC–TPPI) were studied. Both polymers have two colored oxidation states, and TPA–TPPI showed better electrochromic performance than NPC–TPPI.

Abstract
Two kinds of polyarylates with diphenylamine-fluorene units were synthesized from the bisphenol monomer “ N, N-di(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-amino-9,9-dimethylfluorene” with two different benzenedicarbonyl chlorides. These polyarylates were highly soluble in N, N-dimethylacetamide, tetrahydrofuran, and chloroform and could be easily solution-cast into transparent films. Both of the polyarylates exhibited a couple of reversible redox with half-wave potentials in the range of 0.87–0.90 V. During the electrochromic process, the color of the film changed from colorless (neutral state) to grey green (oxidation state) with a high coloration efficiency of 242 cm2 C−1. Compared with the polyarylates prepared from terephthaloyl chloride, the polyarylates prepared from isophthaloyl chloride exhibited enhanced fluorescence because of the reduced charge-transfer effect. Furthermore, its fluorescence could be reversibly switched under the applied potentials.
