Abstract
A comparative analysis of mass-volume characteristics of structural and morphological components of hen eggs before incubation and on the fifth (HH25-HH27) and 10th (HH36) days of incubation was carried out. During incubation, egg weight decreased by 9.25% (10 days), mainly due to a decrease in albumen weight (35.8%). The ratio of lipid-soluble fraction (LSF) and water-soluble fraction (WSF) in the mixed components and yolk did not change significantly. The total amount of solids in the mixed substances practically does not change during incubation. Antiradical activity of substances increased significantly by more than three times on the fifth day and additionally by 38.6% at the 10th day in relation to the fifth day. Total antioxidant activity increased by 18.9% on the fifth day and by 24.3% on the 10th day, compared to eggs before incubation. Transformation of the main components of WSF and LSF of albumin, yolk, and chicken embryo (CE) was studied using high-performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. On the 10th day, an increase in the number of high-molecular proteins is recorded, which indicates the activation of enzymatic processes of transformation of the main albumen proteins into proteins of organs and tissues of CE. This may cause an increase in the biological activity of substances. It was found that in conditions of in vitro digestion, antiradical activity increases by two times, anti-inflammatory activity increases by 2.4 times, and an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitory effect occurs in the mixed components of a 10-day incubation egg.

Abstract
Storage duration affects the biological value of hatching eggs. The study evaluated the composition and characteristics of hatching eggs from Rosa 1 hens, the morphometric traits of embryos and chicks, and hatching results based on storage time. A total of 1 200 hatching eggs were divided into three groups: NS (control, non-stored), S4 (stored up to day 4), and S7 (stored up to day 7). Storage conditions were 17 °C and approx. 60% relative humidity. Each group's egg quality was measured for 30 eggs. Weight loss during storage was monitored. Lysozyme activity and viscosity were analysed from fresh eggs and incubated eggs on days 7 and 14, using thin and thick albumen or amniotic fluid. Embryo morphometry was measured on days 7, 10, 14, and 18, and posthatching results and the quality of 1-day-old chicks were assessed. Eggs stored for 7 days (S7) had higher (P < 0.05) weight loss compared to the NS group. The proportions of eggshell and yolk increased (P < 0.05) after storage, and the yolk index decreased. Vitelline membrane strength was lower (P < 0.001) in the S4 and S7 groups than in the NS group. The lowest (P < 0.05) pH levels of thin, thick albumen and yolk were observed in the NS group. Lysozyme activity increased (P < 0.001) in the thin albumen of eggs in the NS and S4 groups and the thick albumen from the NS group than in others. On day 7 of incubation, group S7 showed higher (P < 0.05) lysozyme activity in thick albumen, with no activity in amniotic fluid. By day 14, lysozyme activity increased (P < 0.001) in group S7's thick albumen and S4 and S7 groups' amniotic fluid. Viscosity was highest (P < 0.05) in fresh eggs' thin and thick albumen from group S7, but on day 7, thick albumen viscosity was lowest. On day 14, amniotic fluid viscosity was higher (P = 0.009) in group S4 than in NS. Seven-day-old embryos in group S7 had lower (P = 0.004) weight than others. Eye diameter in S7 embryos was also smaller on days 7 and 18. On day 10, NS group embryos had shorter body diagonal lengths. Storage up to 7 days adversely affected hatching efficiency. Storage affected the navel area of 1-day-old chicks, with the highest neck length in male chicks from group S4 and the lowest in females from group S4. It is concluded that egg storage at 17 °C and 60% relative humidity could be limited to 4 days to maintain hatchability and qualitative features.

Abstract
A healthy gut is one of the main factors influencing bird response. Over the years, efforts have been made to improve intestinal health. One of the supporting methods may be enriching the diet with bioactive ingredients, including sodium butyrate (SB). One of the possible ways of administering such supplementation is in ovo technology. Over the years, research has shown that administering bioactive substances this way has a positive effect on the health status of chickens. The current study aimed to modify the gut microbiota of broiler chickens by in ovo stimulation on d 12 of egg incubation with SB and to determine the changes occurring in intestines. One thousand eggs were incubated and injected with 0.1, 0.3, or 0.5% SB on d 12 of incubation. The control group was injected with physiological saline. Samples collected for analysis were obtained postmortem from 42-day-old ROSS 308 broiler chickens. Growth performance parameters were also monitored during broiler rearing. Gene expression analysis showed significant changes in the levels of IL4, IFNγ, AvBD1, TJAP and MUC6 genes in the ileum. However, the IL8, MUC2 and MUC6 genes were significantly expressed in the cecal mucosa. These changes depended on the administered dose of butyrate. There was no effect of in ovo administration of various doses of SB on digesta pH, SCFA level and histological parameters. However, a significant increase in Bifidobacterium bacteria was detected in the ileum after administration of a dose of 0.5% SB and in the cecum after administration of a dose of 0.3%. Administration of SB in ovo has the potential to support intestinal health in poultry. The effects depend on the administered dose, while the results indicate a dose of 0.3% as the most optimal.

Abstract
Low hatchability has been a persistent challenge in the goose industry. Establishing standard atlases and comprehending embryonic development patterns are essential to improving the hatching rates of goose eggs. However, comprehensive descriptions of normal atlases, embryonic development, and energy requirements in geese are lacking. In this study, a total of 120 fertile eggs from well-known large Shitou goose were incubated using 12 nesting purebred female geese. During hatching, both the temperature of the eggshells and the weight of eggs were recorded, and daily photographs of the embryos were captured to monitor their development closely. After hatching, counted the number of pores per unit area of eggshells by choosing eggs from without sperm, dead embryos, and normally hatched. Furthermore, 150 Shitou goose eggs were hatched by automatic incubator, with adjustments made based on observed normal developmental stages that incubated by female geese. The eggs were carefully opened to meticulously document embryonic morphology and create a detailed development map. Measurements were taken of the eye diameter, length of the lower beak, tarsometatarsus bone, and embryo length. Subsequently, an analysis was conducted to assess the calcium, phosphorus, crude protein, and crude fat content to study the energy requirements for embryo development. characteristics on the 7th, 15th, 23rd and 28th days of Shitou goose hatching corresponded to the 5th, 10th, 17th and 19th days of chicken egg incubation, respectively. These days were distinguished individually by "visible embryo's eye", "closure", "sealing the door", and "flashing hair". Besides, the hatch rate of the incubator reached 86.67%, and the cumulative water loss rate increased with embryo age. Notably, normally developing embryos displayed a significantly higher number of pores on the eggshell surface compared to dead embryos (P < 0.05). Additionally, embryonic body length, eyeball diameter, and lower beak length exhibited continuous growth until day 19 of incubation, while tarsometatarsus length increased steadily from days 12 to 31. Liver size measurement began on the 10th day of incubation, while both leg and chest muscles showed continuous growth from the 12th day. For energy demand, the embryo primarily relied on protein sourced from the egg yolk within the first 10 days of development. Afterward, the egg yolk provided both protein and fat for embryonic growth. In summary, this study has generated a comprehensive developmental map for Shitou goose embryos, offering valuable insights into their growth and morphological changes throughout the incubation period. This map can serve as a reference for optimizing machine incubation techniques to enhance goose egg hatching rates and provide fresh perspectives on the development of geese.

Abstract
The proportions in the size of the avian egg albumen, yolk, and shell are crucial for understanding bird survival and reproductive success because their relationships with volume and surface area can affect ecological and life history strategies. Prior studies have focused on the relationship between the albumen and the yolk, but little is known about the scaling relationship between eggshell mass and shape and the mass of the albumen and the yolk. Toward this end, 691 eggs of six precocial species were examined, and their 2-D egg profiles were photographed and digitized. The explicit Preston equation, which assumes bilateral symmetrical geometry, was used to fit the 2-D egg profiles and to calculate surface areas and volumes based on the hypothesis that eggs can be treated as solids of profile revolution. The scaling relationships of eggshell mass (Ms), albumen mass (Ma), and yolk mass (My), as well as the surface area (S), volume (V), and total mass (Mt) were determined. The explicit Preston equation was validated in describing the 2-D egg profiles. The scaling exponents of Ma vs. Ms, My vs. Ms, and My vs. Ma were smaller than unity, indicating that increases in Ma and My fail to keep pace with increases in Ms, and that increases in My fail to keep pace with increases in Ma. Therefore, increases in unit nutrient contents (i.e., the yolk) involve disproportionately larger increases in eggshell mass and disproportionately larger increases in albumen mass. The data also revealed a 2/3-power scaling relationship between S and V for each species, that is, the simple Euclidean geometry is obeyed. These findings help to inform our understanding of avian egg construction and reveal evolutionary interspecific trends in the scaling of egg shape, volume, mass, and mass allocation.

Abstract
The impact of fluid flow shear stresses, generated by the movement of blood through vasculature, on the organization and maturation of vessels is widely recognized. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether external fluid flows outside of the vasculature in the surrounding tissue can similarly play a role in governing these processes. In this research, we introduce an innovative technique called superfusion-induced vascular steering (SIVS). SIVS involves the controlled imposition of external fluid flow patterns onto the vascularized chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), allowing us to observe how this impacts the organization of vascular networks. To investigate the concept of SIVS, we conducted superfusion experiments on the intact chick CAM cultured within an engineered eggshell system, using phosphate buffered saline (PBS). To capture and analyze the effects of superfusion, we employed a custom-built microscopy setup, enabling us to image both superfused and non-superfused regions within the developing CAM. This study provides valuable insights into the practical application of fluid superfusion within an in vivo context, shedding light on its significance for understanding tissue development and manipulation in an engineering setting.

Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the qualitative features of Cherry Valley duck' hatching eggs during storage at different temperatures. Eggs were divided into 3 equal groups with 30 eggs each: fresh egg and stored at 7 °C and 17 °C within one week. Qualitative analyses of duck eggs were carried out, considering the morphological composition, physicochemical characteristics, lysozyme activity, and albumen viscosity. The highest weight of yolk and its percentage was found in the 17 °C group. The weight and percentage of albumen were significantly the highest in the group of fresh eggs. Higher egg weight loss was observed in the group stored at higher temperatures. Higher thick albumen height and Haugh units were found in fresh eggs and eggs stored at 7 °C. Different temperatures of egg storage did not affect lysozyme activity in thick and thin albumen. Stored eggs were characterized by lower albumen viscosity only at a shear rate of 10 rpm. The higher viscosity of thick albumen compared to thin ones was demonstrated at 10 and 20 rpm shear rates. The presented research results indicate a large diversity of selected qualitative indicators of hatching duck eggs, which may affect their storage and suitability for incubation.

Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the biological value of eggs and extra-embryonic structures affecting pheasant hatchability depending on the eggshell's color. Eggs (1,415) from 62-wk-old pheasants were used. The quality of fresh blue (BL), brown (BR), and green (G) eggs were analyzed. Incubation lasted for 25 d. Thick albumen (d 0, 1, 7, 14), amniotic fluid (d 14, 18), and the yolk (d 0-14) were collected. The pH, viscosity, lysozyme activity, crude protein (CP) content in albumen and amnion, pH, vitelline membrane strength, and fatty acids (FA) content in the yolk were performed. The lowest hatchability was in the BL group, and the highest was in the G group. BL group showed lower eggshell thickness and strength and higher egg weight. In thick albumen and amniotic fluid, the pH decreased with the incubation. In the yolk, there was an increasing trend (P = 0.015), with a decrease on d 18 (P < 0.001). The vitelline membrane strength decreased after 1 d of incubation, excluding BR eggs (P < 0.001). Thick albumen viscosity was higher on d 14 in the G group than in other dates and groups, the lowest in amniotic fluid, and slightly higher in BL and BR eggs. On d 18, amniotic fluid viscosity increased (P < 0.001). The lowest viscosity was indicated in BL eggs (P < 0.001). The lysozyme activity in thick albumen on d 14 was the highest (uniquely in BR and G groups), and the lowest values were found in amniotic fluid on d 14; after four d, the activity increased (P < 0.001). The CP content was higher in the BL group on d 14. In amnion, on d 14, the CP content was the lowest (<1%) and increased on d 18 (P < 0.001). There was a higher FA content (especially UFA) in the G group and a decrease in FA content after d 14 (P < 0.001). It was found that eggs with green eggshells have the highest biological value, and blue eggs are the least useful for incubation.

Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the hatching egg and physiochemical features of eggshells, thick albumen, amniotic fluid, and yolk during the incubation of Ross 308 chicken eggs. Eggs (n = 755) were incubated for 21 d. Quality analysis of fresh eggs was performed. Eggshells, albumen, and yolk were collected from fresh eggs and incubation d 1, 7, and 14. Eggshell thickness and strength, pH, vitelline membrane strength, fatty acid (FA) in the yolk, pH, viscosity, lysozyme activity, and crude protein content in thick albumen and amniotic fluid were analyzed. Hatching parameters were calculated. Egg weight loss was constant (8.04% overall). Lower egg surface temperature was found on d 7 compared to d 4, 14, and 18. A lower thickness of posthatch eggshells was found. The strength of the vitelline membrane significantly decreased within 24 h (by over 58%). During incubation, there was a decrease in thick albumen/amniotic fluid pH; an opposite trend was found in yolk pH. The vitelline membrane strength was negatively correlated with the albumen pH. Lysozyme activity was higher in fresh thick albumen and up to 2 wk of incubation. On d 7, the lowest activity was found in the amniotic fluid. On d 14, lysozyme activity increased in amniotic fluid. The higher viscosity of the thick albumen was demonstrated on d 7 and 14 of incubation. The lowest viscosity in amniotic fluid was found on the same days. Crude protein content was higher in thick albumen (d 7 and 14) and lowest in amniotic fluid on d 7. The FA content changed between d 0 and 14. The results indicate different use of FA, where PUFA decreased. Eggshell is used in the last week of incubation. The thick albumen is reduced, while the biological value of amniotic fluid is increasing. Lysozyme activity, viscosity, and crude protein content may be interdependent. It may indicate the flow of substances and the transfer of functions from the thick albumen to the amniotic fluid during chicken embryogenesis.

Abstract
Duckling embryogenesis should be deepened due to the hatching technology and its modification possibilities. Many changes occur in incubated eggs, which expose the embryo to hazards. The study aimed to analyse the physicochemical properties of eggshell, yolk, thick albumen (TA), and amniotic fluid (AF) of incubated hatching eggs from 52-week-old Cherry Valley ducks. The morphological features of 18 fresh eggs were analysed. Over 28 days, a total of 800 eggs underwent incubation. Eggshell surface temperature and egg weight loss were measured on days 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 18, 21, and 25. Eggshell, TA, AF, and yolk were collected from eggs at incubation days 1-21 (every week). TA was collected on days 0, 1, and 7, while AF on days 7, 14, and 21. The analysis covered a range of physicochemical parameters. Eggshell thickness decreased with incubation, reaching its lowest point posthatch (P < 0.001). The highest pH for TA was recorded on day 1, while the lowest was on day 7 when comparing days 0, 1, and 7 (P < 0.001). TA pH was consistently higher than in AF (P < 0.001). However, the pH of TA was the highest on day 1 and the lowest on day 7 (P < 0.001). Yolk pH increased from days 1 to 21 (P < 0.001). There was also a noticeable in egg weight loss (0.34% daily) (P < 0.001). Vitelline membrane strength decreased from day 0 to day 1 (P < 0.001). Lysozyme activity in thick albumen on day 7 was higher than on days 0 and 1 (P < 0.001). Lysozyme activity in AF was higher on day 21 than days 7 and 14 (P < 0.001). TA viscosity was highest on day 0 and lowest on day 1, compared to other days (P < 0.001). AF viscosity and CP content exhibited an increase on day 21 as compared to days 7 and 14 (P < 0.001). The CP content in TA was notably higher on day 7 than on days 0 and 1 (P < 0.001). Polyunsaturated fatty acids declined, while monounsaturated and transfatty acids increased (P < 0.001). Viscosity and lysozyme activity increased on day 7 in TA and day 21 in AF. TA and the amniotic cavity appeared to facilitate the transfer of substances, particularly CP. Viscosity could be an indicator for optimising incubation conditions, as incorrect changes can affect embryo mortality. The results showed the different utilisation of nutrients, such as fatty acids. It could support research on the in-ovo administration of various substances.
