Abstract
We report the first case of relapsing anti-GBM disease secondary to alemtuzumab in a 24-year-old female with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Initial anti-GBM disease was detected 10 months after alemtuzumab was given and was diagnosed by demonstrating high anti-GBM antibody titers and with a confirmatory kidney biopsy. The patient presented with a rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with no pulmonary involvement. After appropriate treatment, the patient went into remission with undetectable anti-GBM antibodies. However, 20 months later, the patient re-presented with relapsing anti-GBM disease. Despite aggressive treatment, the patient became dialysis-dependent.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) is clinically manifestations as a rapidly progressive renal failure and pathologically as crescentic and necrotizing lesions with infiltration of inflammatory cells in the glomeruli. Uremic encephalopathy (UE) usually develops in patients who are suffering from acute or chronic renal failure. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this article is to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of renal disease complicated with seizures. Patients Two cases of anti-glomerular basement membrane type rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis complicated with seizures were reported. MATERIALS & METHODS In case 1, a 40-year-old woman was hospitalized for the treatment of nausea, anorexia, and fever. On admission, she presented with elevated serum inflammatory indicators, moderate anemia, and advanced acute kidney injury requiring hemodialysis. Her anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibody in serum and renal tissues was found to be extremely high. She was finally diagnosed with anti-GBM disease. She was treated with a combination of corticosteroid pulse therapy, oral cyclophosphamide and prednisolone, and plasma exchange, while continued to require maintenance hemodialysis for end-stage kidney disease. During treatment, she suddenly suffered blindness, seizure, and consciousness disturbance. She was diagnosed as posterior reversible leukoencephalopathy syndrome by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The posterior reversible leukoencephalopathy syndrome subsided quickly after control of her hypertension and reinforcement of immunosuppressive treatment. In case 2, the patient also developed epileptic symptoms on the basis of GBM disease, and was given treatment similar to that of Case 1, so that the epileptic symptoms were controlled. RESULT Reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, especially when accompanied by cerebral hemorrhage, may lead to irreversible and lethal neurological abnormalities, and nephrologists should, therefore, be aware of the potential risk of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome in patients with anti-GBM disease. We can discuss the current two cases in the light of the previous literature.

Abstract
Anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease or Goodpasture syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by anti-GBM autoantibodies targeting the type 4 collagen of the basement membrane, resulting in rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with or without alveolar hemorrhage. Pulmonary manifestations are less common in the elderly. Isolated pulmonary manifestations are rare in all age groups, and even more so in the elderly. We present the case of a lady in her late 70s, who presented initially with massive hemoptysis in the absence of renal dysfunction, which was presumed to be secondary to underlying bronchiectasis and infection. However, she later developed rapidly progressive acute kidney injury despite improvement in pulmonary symptoms and was diagnosed with anti-GBM disease. The delay in diagnosis and subsequent treatment due to the atypical presentation resulted in irreversible renal injury and the need for lifelong dialysis. This case demonstrates the need to consider atypical presentations of rare disorders, to ensure early diagnosis and optimal prognosis, especially when the clinical history cannot be explained by findings on examination and investigation.

Abstract
Anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies are significantly specific for detecting anti-glomerular basement membrane disease. These antibodies are typically targeted against the non-collagenous (NC1) domain of the alpha 3 chain of type IV collagen and, to a lesser extent, the α4(IV) or α5(IV) chains, which create a triple-helical structure in the glomerular basement membrane. The modification of the hexameric structure of NC1 (α3(IV)) results in the exposure of new epitopes, leading to an immune reaction and the subsequent deposition of linear antibodies along the glomerular basement membrane, culminating in crescentic glomerulonephritis. Anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies that are positive are believed to be pathogenic and capable of binding to the glomerular basement membrane in vivo, particularly in the context of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. Herein, we present a patient with positive serum anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies but negative IgG deposition. The current findings are significant for raising physicians' awareness of the probable errors in detecting anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody disease as a possible cause of irreversible kidney failure.

Abstract
Anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease with isolated diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is rare. We herein report a 91-year-old man admitted with hypoxia and diagnosed with anti-GBM disease with DAH based on positive bronchoalveolar lavage and serum antibody test results. There was no renal involvement. Although remission was achieved using glucocorticoids and plasmapheresis, the patient experienced DAH relapse one week after the last plasmapheresis. Rituximab 375 mg/m2 was administered 4 times weekly; thereafter, DAH relapse was not observed, and the glucocorticoid dosage was tapered. Rituximab was thus effective in treating anti-GBM disease with isolated DAH in an extremely elderly patient.

Abstract
Background Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease is characterized by crescentic necrotizing glomerulonephritis, with linear deposits of immunoglobulin G (IgG) in the GBM. Classic anti-GBM disease is clinically associated with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with or without pulmonary hemorrhage. Some patients have a better renal prognosis and milder symptoms than those with classic anti-GBM disease, which is termed atypical anti-GBM disease. Case presentation A 43-year-old Japanese woman was admitted to our hospital complaining of hematuria that had persisted for more than one month. Serological examination revealed negativity for anti-nuclear, anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic, and anti-GBM antibodies. However, renal biopsy showed cellular crescents. Immunofluorescence revealed strong diffuse linear capillary loop staining for IgG. An indirect immunofluorescence antibody method was performed by applying the patient serum to normal kidney tissue to confirm the presence of autoantibodies binding to the GBM. Using this method, anti-GBM antibodies were detected. The patient was treated with high-dose steroids, cyclophosphamide, and plasma exchange. Aggressive treatment resolved proteinuria and hematuria and improved renal function. Conclusions Renal biopsy is crucial in the diagnosis of anti-GBM disease, especially when serological tests are negative. Accurately identifying the presence of anti-GBM disease is important to initiate optimal treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several lines of evidence implicate that there are distinct differences between patients with myeloperoxidase (MPO)-antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) and anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibody double-seropositive patients (DPPs) and single-positive patients. Hence, we conducted a retrospective study from a single center in China to analyze the clinical and pathological features, and prognosis of DPPs. METHODS 109 patients with MPO-ANCA-associated vasculitis (MPO-AAV), 20 DPPs and 23 patients diagnosed with anti-GBM disease from a large center in China were included in this study. The ratio of patients with renal biopsy in three groups were 100%, 50% and 100%, respectively. Their clinical and pathological characteristics, and outcomes were analyzed. The intensity of immune deposits in the kidney at diagnosis was detected by immunofluorescence (IF). Furthermore, multivariate Cox hazard model analysis was used to assess the clinical and histological predictors of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and death for DPPs. RESULTS In our study, we found that patients in the DPPs group were older than the other two groups (p = 0.007, MPO-AAV vs. DPPs; p < 0.001, DPPs vs. anti-GBM). The DPPs group had a higher value of serum creatinine (p = 0.041) and lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (p = 0.032) compared with MPO-AAV patients. On the contrary, the DPPs group had a lower serum creatinine (p = 0.003) compared with patients with anti-GBM group. The proportion of patients with cardiac system involvement in the DPPs group was higher than anti-GBM patients (p = 0.014). Cellular crescents could be generally observed in renal biopsy of DPPs and patients with anti-GBM glomerulonephritis. In addition, Bowman's capsule rupture was more common in DPPs than MPO-AAV patients (p = 0.001). MPO-AAV had a better renal and overall survival outcome than DPPs (p < 0.001). There was no significant difference of renal and overall survival outcome between DPPs and patients with anti-GBM disease. The incidence of ESRD in DPPs was negatively associated with lymphocyte count (HR 0.153, 95% CI 0.027 to 0.872, p = 0.034) and eGFR (HR 0.847, 95% CI 0.726 to 0.989, p = 0.036). Elevated serum creatinine was confirmed as a risk factor of both renal (HR 1.003, 95% CI 1.000 to 1.005, p = 0.019) and patient survival in DPPs (HR1.461, 95% CI 1.050 to 2.033, p = 0.024). CONCLUSION In summary, compared with anti-GBM disease, DPPs tended to involve multi-organ damage rather than limited to the kidney. It is highlighted that serologic DPPs have a worse renal and patient prognosis than MPO-AAV. Moreover, we found that the risk factors of renal survival of DPPs include low lymphocyte count, elevated serum creatinine and reduced eGFR, and serum creatinine can predict patient survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease is a rare autoimmune disease manifesting as acute progressive nephritis syndrome with or without varying degrees of pulmonary hemorrhage. Anti-GBM disease coexisting with Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy is rarer and has different clinical manifestations and prognoses than simple anti-GBM disease. We describe a case of coexistence of these two diseases.
CASE SUMMARY A 49-year-old man with hematuria and proteinuria accompanied by a slight elevation of serum creatinine was admitted to our hospital. The pathological results of renal biopsy and the elevated serum anti-GBM antibody titer supported a diagnosis of anti-GBM disease combined with IgA nephropathy. After treatment with corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide, the patient's serum creatinine was relatively stable, and the hematuria and proteinuria moderately improved in the subsequent six months.
CONCLUSION Anti-GBM disease coexisting with IgA nephropathy is rare. The clinical manifestations and prognosis are better than those of simple anti-GBM disease. In this case, the patient's condition was improved and his renal function remained relatively stable with corticosteroid and cyclophosphamide treatment. New detection methods to identify whether the crescents in this case were derived from anti-GBM disease or IgA nephropathy are worthy of further exploration.

Abstract
The inflammasome is an immune multiprotein complex that activates pro-caspase 1 in response to inflammation-inducing stimuli and it leads to IL-1β and IL-18 proinflammatory cytokine production. NLRP1 and NLRP3 inflammasomes are the best characterized and they have been related to several autoimmune diseases. It is well known that the kidney expresses inflammasome genes, which can influence the development of some glomerulonephritis, such as lupus nephritis, ANCA glomerulonephritis, IgA nephropathy and anti-GBM nephropathy. Polymorphisms of these genes have also been described to play a role in autoimmune and kidney diseases. In this review, we describe the main characteristics, activation mechanisms, regulation and functions of the different inflammasomes. Moreover, we discuss the latest findings about the role of the inflammasome in several glomerulonephritis from three different points of view: in vitro, animal and human studies.

Abstract
Autoimmunity is a process by which the loss of self-tolerance results in an immune attack against the body own tissues and organs. For autoimmunity to occur, various elements serving as triggers were described by which infections are considered one of the leading factors. In turn, renal involvement in autoimmune diseases, whether by an organ-specific attack, or as part of a systemic disease process, is well known. As bacterial and viral infections are considered to be common triggers for autoimmunity in general, we aimed to study their association with renal autoimmunity in particular. We performed an extensive search of the recent and relevant medical literature regarding renal autoimmunity syndromes such as infection-associated glomerulonephritis and vasculitis, associated with bacterial and viral infections. By utilizing PubMed and Google Scholar search engines, over 200 articles and case reports were reviewed. Among other mechanisms, direct infection of the renal parenchyma, molecular mimicry, induction of B-cells or secretion of superantigens, bacterial and viral pathogens were found to correlate with the development of renal autoimmunity. Nevertheless, this was not true for all pathogens, as some mimic autoimmune diseases and others show a surprisingly protective effect. The exact immunopathogenesis is yet to be determined, however. For conclusion, bacterial and viral infections are linked to renal autoimmunity by both direct damage and as mediators of systemic diseases. Further research particularly on the immunopathogenetic mechanisms of renal autoimmunity associated with infections is required.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) leads to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Glomerulonephritis (GN) is the second leading cause of CKD resulting in end stage renal failure. The most severe and rapidly progressive type of GN is characterized by glomerular crescent formation. The current therapies for crescentic GN, which consist of broad immunosuppressive drugs, are partially effective, non-specific, toxic and cause many serious side effects including infections, cancer, and cardiovascular problems. Therefore, new and safer therapies are needed. Human amniotic epithelial cells (hAECs) are a type of stem cell which are isolated from the placenta after birth. They represent an attractive and novel therapeutic option for the treatment of various inflammatory conditions owing to their unique and selective immunosuppressive ability, as well as their excellent safety profile and clinical applicability. In this review, we will discuss the immunopathogenesis of crescentic GN, issues with currently available treatments and how hAECs offer potential to become a new and harmless treatment option for this condition.

Abstract
An 18-year-old woman was treated for acute kidney injury (AKI) secondary to antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease with prednisolone, cyclophosphamide and plasma exchange. She also had epistaxis at initial presentation with no other organ involvement and achieved good recovery of her kidney function. Two weeks after completing induction treatment, she re-presented with further AKI and pulmonary haemorrhage. She was recommenced on plasma exchange and steroids and was given rituximab. She recovered from her illness with significant improvement to her kidney function. The cause of her relapse was thought to be possibly due to the use of hair dye. This case highlights the importance of acknowledging potential environmental exposures to prevent relapses of disease. We were also able to demonstrate a case of successful treatment of anti-GBM disease with rituximab.

Abstract
Background. Acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring dialysis during pregnancy is uncommon. We present a case of a young female diagnosed with antiglomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease during pregnancy. Case Presentation. A 23-year-old woman approximately 15 weeks pregnant experienced weakness, nausea, vomiting, and anorexia for one week and anuria for 48 hours. No known drug allergies and no significant social or family history for kidney or genitourinary disease were reported. Laboratory analysis revealed anemia, life-threatening hyperkalemia, AKI, and elevated antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies. Renal biopsy revealed 100% cellular crescents, confirming the diagnosis. The patient was treated using plasmapheresis and methylprednisolone followed by oral steroids, azathioprine, and tacrolimus. At 24 weeks and 4 days of gestation, the patient had hypoxic respiratory failure as well as preterm premature rupture of membranes. Due to the development of infection and lack of renal recovery, immunosuppression was discontinued. At 28 weeks and 0 days of gestation, the patient developed uncontrollable hypertension requiring emergent delivery. Postpartum, her hypertension improved without signs of preeclampsia though still requires dialysis. Discussion. Pregnancy presents a unique challenge for providers treating patients with anti-GBM disease. Fetal safety should be considered and risks thoroughly discussed with the patient when choosing an immunosuppressive regimen for this condition.

Abstract
Since the first clinicopathologic description by Ernest Goodpasture of a patient whom he considered to have died of influenza in 1919, substantial progress has been made in our knowledge of anti-glomerular basement membrane disease. This has led to a significant decrease in the morbidity and mortality associated with this disease. In this paper, we aim to review the literature that has enhanced our understanding of classic anti-glomerular basement membrane disease and its clinic-pathologic variants in the key areas of immunopathogenesis and histopathology. We also summarize varied clinical presentations and therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
One cannot discuss anti-dsDNA antibodies and lupus nephritis without discussing the nature of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SLE is insistently described as a prototype autoimmune syndrome, with anti-dsDNA antibodies as a central biomarker and a pathogenic factor. The two entities, "SLE" and "The Anti-dsDNA Antibody," have been linked in previous and contemporary studies although serious criticism to this mutual linkage have been raised: Anti-dsDNA antibodies were first described in bacterial infections and not in SLE; later in SLE, viral and parasitic infections and in malignancies. An increasing number of studies on classification criteria for SLE have been published in the aftermath of the canonical 1982 American College of Rheumatology SLE classification sets of criteria. Considering these studies, it is surprising to observe a nearby complete absence of fundamental critical/theoretical discussions aimed to explain how and why the classification criteria are linked in context of etiology, pathogenicity, or biology. This study is an attempt to prioritize critical comments on the contemporary definition and classification of SLE and of anti-dsDNA antibodies in context of lupus nephritis. Epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, and measures of therapy efficacy are implemented as problems in the present discussion. In order to understand whether or not disparate clinical SLE phenotypes are useful to determine its basic biological processes accounting for the syndrome is problematic. A central problem is discussed on whether the clinical role of anti-dsDNA antibodies from principal reasons can be accepted as a biomarker for SLE without clarifying what we define as an anti-dsDNA antibody, and in which biologic contexts the antibodies appear. In sum, this study is an attempt to bring to the forum critical comments on the contemporary definition and classification of SLE, lupus nephritis and anti-dsDNA antibodies. Four concise hypotheses are suggested for future science at the end of this analytical study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Goodpasture's syndrome is a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease. While Goodpasture's syndrome is well described in Caucasian and Asian populations, its prevalence and outcomes among African American and Hispanic populations are unclear. We conducted this study to assess the impacts of race on hospital outcomes among patients with Goodpasture's syndrome. METHODS The National Inpatient Sample database was used to identify hospitalized patients with a principal diagnosis of Goodpasture's syndrome from 2003 to 2014. Goodpasture's syndrome patients were grouped based on their race. The differences in-hospital supportive care for organ failure and outcomes between Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic Goodpasture's syndrome patients were assessed using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Nine hundred and sixty-four patients were hospitalized with a primary diagnosis of Goodpasture's syndrome. Of these, 786 were included in the analysis: 622 (79%) were Caucasian, 73 (9%) were African American, and 91 (12%) were Hispanic. Hispanics had significantly lower use of plasmapheresis. The use for mechanical ventilation, noninvasive ventilation support, and renal replacement therapy in African Americans and Hispanics were comparable to Caucasians. There was no significant difference in organ failure, sepsis, and in-hospital mortality between African Americans and Caucasians. In contrast, Hispanics had higher in-hospital mortality than Caucasians but similar risk of organ failure and sepsis. CONCLUSION African American and Hispanic populations account for 9% and 12% of hospitalizations for Goodpasture's syndrome, respectively. While there is no significant difference in in-hospital mortality between African Americans and Caucasians, Hispanics with Goodpasture's syndrome carry a higher in-hospital mortality compared to Caucasians.

Abstract
Background: Atypical cases of anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease had absent circulating antibodies but linear IgG deposits along GBM in the kidneys. Herein, we reported the clinical-pathological features and outcome of these rare cases. Methods: Linear IgG deposit along GBM were examined by immunofluorescence on renal specimens, with exclusion of diabetic kidney disease. Circulating anti-GBM antibodies were tested by commercial ELISA assay. Clinical, pathological and follow-up data were retrospectively analyzed. Results: From 2013 to 2018, a total of 60 patients were diagnosed as atypical anti-GBM disease. They had a male predominance, with an average age of 51.7 ± 15.6 years. Three (5.0%) patients had alveolar hemorrhage. Forty five percent of them presented with acute kidney disease. All patients had linear IgG deposit along GBM, some in addition on tubular basement membrane and/or Bowmans' capsules. C3 deposition was found in 65.0% of the patients. 41.7% (25/60) of the patients showed crescent formation and the percentage of crescent was (34.7 ± 23.5)% in those patients. They had higher prevalence of hematuria and C3 deposit, higher levels of serum creatinine, worse renal and patient survival than those without crescent (P < 0.05). During the follow-up of 35.7 ± 21.4 months, 14 (23.3%) patients progressed to ESRD. The serum creatinine on diagnosis [per 200 μmol/L increase, HR (95% CI): 2.663 (1.372, 5.172), P = 0.004], serum C3 [per 0.1 g/L increase, HR (95% CI): 0.689(0.483, 0.984), P = 0.040] and the intensity of kidney C3 staining [per 1+ increase, HR (95% CI): 2.770 (1.115, 6.877), P = 0.028] were independent predictive factors for kidney outcome. Nine (15.0%) patients died of all causes. Conclusions: Atypical anti-GBM disease manifested milder kidney injury and scarce pulmonary hemorrhage compared to the classical cases. Though heterogeneous, a substantial number of the patients had complement activation and crescent formation. Patients having crescents presented with more severe clinical course and worse outcomes. The poor kidney and patient prognosis emphasize prompt interventions from physicians. The immunosuppressive intervention was not associated with kidney or patient outcome. Further studies are needed to address the optimal therapeutic regimen.

Abstract
Systemic vasculitides represent uncommon conditions characterized by the inflammation of blood vessels that can lead to different complex disorders limited to one organ or potentially involving multiple organs and systems. Systemic vasculitides are classified according to the diameter of the vessel that they mainly affect (small, medium, large, or variable). The pathogenetic mechanisms of systemic vasculitides are still partly unknown, as well as their genetic basis. For most of the primary systemic vasculitides, a single gold standard test is not available, and diagnosis is often made after having ruled out other mimicking conditions. Current research has focused on new management protocol and therapeutic strategies aimed at improving long-term patient outcomes and avoiding progression to multiorgan failure with irreversible damage. In this narrative review, authors describe different forms of systemic vasculitides through a review of the literature, with the aim of highlighting the current knowledge and recent findings on etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy.

Impact of ANCA-Associated Vasculitis on Outcomes of Hospitalizations for Goodpasture's Syndrome in the United States: Nationwide Inpatient Sample 2003-2014. Abstract
Background and objectives: Goodpasture’s syndrome (GS) is a rare, life-threatening autoimmune disease. Although the coexistence of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) with Goodpasture’s syndrome has been recognized, the impacts of ANCA vasculitis on mortality and resource utilization among patients with GS are unclear. Materials and Methods: We used the National Inpatient Sample to identify hospitalized patients with a principal diagnosis of GS from 2003 to 2014 in the database. The predictor of interest was the presence of ANCA-associated vasculitis. We tested the differences concerning in-hospital treatment and outcomes between GS patients with and without ANCA-associated vasculitis using logistic regression analysis with adjustment for other clinical characteristics. Results: A total of 964 patients were primarily admitted to hospital for GS. Of these, 84 (8.7%) had a concurrent diagnosis of ANCA-associated vasculitis. Hemoptysis was more prevalent in GS patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis. During hospitalization, GS patients with ANCA-associated required non-significantly more mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation support, but non-significantly less renal replacement therapy and plasmapheresis than those with GS alone. There was no significant difference in in-hospital outcomes, including organ failure and mortality, between GS patients with and without ANCA-associated vasculitis. Conclusions: Our study demonstrated no significant differences between resource utilization and in-hospital mortality among hospitalized patients with coexistence of ANCA vasculitis and GS, compared to those with GS alone.

Abstract
Background: Goodpasture’s syndrome is a rare, life-threatening, small vessel vasculitis. Given its rarity, data on its inpatient burden and resource utilization are lacking. We conducted this study aiming to assess inpatient prevalence, mortality, and resource utilization of Goodpasture’s syndrome in the United States. Methods: The 2003–2014 National Inpatient Sample was used to identify patients with a principal diagnosis of Goodpasture’s syndrome. The inpatient prevalence, clinical characteristics, in-hospital treatment, end-organ failure, mortality, length of hospital stay, and hospitalization cost were studied. Multivariable logistic regression was performed to identify independent factors associated with in-hospital mortality. Results: A total of 964 patients were admitted in hospital with Goodpasture’s syndrome as the principal diagnosis, accounting for an overall inpatient prevalence of Goodpasture’s syndrome among hospitalized patients in the United States of 10.3 cases per 1,000,000 admissions. The mean age of patients was 54 ± 21 years, and 47% were female; 52% required renal replacement therapy, whereas 39% received plasmapheresis during hospitalization. Furthermore, 78% had end-organ failure, with renal failure and respiratory failure being the two most common end-organ failures. The in-hospital mortality rate was 7.7 per 100 admissions. The factors associated with increased in-hospital mortality were age older than 70 years, sepsis, the development of respiratory failure, circulatory failure, renal failure, and liver failure, whereas the factors associated with decreased in-hospital mortality were more recent year of hospitalization and the use of therapeutic plasmapheresis. The median length of hospital stay was 10 days. The median hospitalization cost was $75,831. Conclusion: The inpatient prevalence of Goodpasture’s syndrome in the United States is 10.3 cases per 1,000,000 admissions. Hospitalization of patients with Goodpasture’s syndrome was associated with high hospital inpatient utilization and costs.
