Abstract
Background: The objective of this research was to determine whether pulmonary function is associated with epigenetic aging (GrimAge) and whether GrimAge predicts emphysema. Methods: This prospective study examined 1042 participants enrolled as part of a community-based longitudinal cohort. The cross-sectional associations between pulmonary function and GrimAge, measured at study year (Y) 20 (participant ages 40-45 years), and prospective associations with emphysema at Y25 were examined. Results: At Y20, forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) and FEV1/forced vital capacity (FVC) were negatively associated with GrimAge; for Y0-Y10 cumulative measures, only the FEV1/FVC ratio was associated with GrimAge at Y15 and Y20. Emphysema at Y25 was associated with GrimAge at Y15 and Y20. Conclusion: Pulmonary function was associated with GrimAge during early and mid-life; GrimAge partially mediated the association between pulmonary function and emphysema.

Abstract
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated healthcare system in the United States (US) providing healthcare to an increasing number of middle-aged and older adults who remain at greater risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) compared to their civilian counterparts. The VHA has obligated research funds, drafted clinical guidelines, and built programmatic infrastructure to support the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of Veterans with COPD. Despite these efforts, COPD remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Veterans. This paper provides a narrative review of research conducted with US Veteran samples targeting improvement in COPD outcomes. We review key physiological, physical, and psychological health outcomes and intervention research that included US Veteran samples. We conclude with a discussion of directions for future research to continue advancing the treatment of COPD in Veterans and inform advancements in COPD research within and outside the VHA.

Abstract
Background and Objective A mounting body of evidence suggests that lung function may deteriorate over time with the development of chronic lung diseases (CRDs). Pulmonary rehabilitation has been proved to improve exercise capacity and quality of life in individuals with CRDs. However, PR remains grossly underutilized all around the world. This study aimed to analyze the research trends on PR over the past 10 years. Methods The publications related to pulmonary rehabilitation in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from 2011 to 2020 were searched. VOSviewer (1.6.15) and CiteSpace Software (5.5.R2) were used to analyze authors and co-cited authors, countries and institutions, journals and co-cited journals, co-cited references, and keywords. Results A total of 4,521 publications were retrieved between 2011 and 2020, and the number of annual publications on pulmonary rehabilitation has shown an overall upward trend in the past decade. The USA was the most productive country, the University of Toronto from Canada was both the first in publications and citations. Spruit MA was both the most productive author and the one with the highest number of co-citations. The first productive journal was the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, while the first co-cited journal was the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. The hot keywords were grouped into three clusters, while “Asthma” and “Respiratory society statement” were determined as the frontier topics. Conclusions The present study successfully revealed the research status and development trends of pulmonary rehabilitation from 2011 to 2020 by using bibliometric analysis, which may help researchers explore and discover new research directions in the future.
