Abstract
The design and development of new luminescent metallogels formed by cyclometalated palladium(II) complexes in protic solvents were investigated by a combination of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM), and rheology. Cyclometalated palladium(II) complexes based on imine ligand and ancillary benzoylthiourea (BTU) ligand showed red emission in solid and gel states. The formation of a lyotropic liquid crystal phase was observed for the complex bearing shorter alkyl groups on the BTU ligand. This complex also behaved as a thermotropic liquid crystal that displays a monotropic smectic A phase (SmA). Dynamic rheology measurements (frequency sweep in the 5-90 °C range) of the 1-decanol solution of palladium(II) complexes highlighted their supramolecular self-association ability to generate 3D networks and form gels as a final result.

Abstract
The rotational spectrum of the binary adduct of formamide (HCONH2) with dimethyl sulfide (DMS) has been investigated employing cavity-based Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy combined with theoretical computations. Experimentally, only one isomer of the adduct was unambiguously observed and assigned according to the theoretically predicted spectroscopic parameters, and its rotational spectrum displays the hyperfine splittings associated with the 14N nuclear quadrupole coupling effect. The observed isomer exhibits Cs symmetry, such that the ∠CSC angle of the DMS subunit is bisected by the ab-plane of the HCONH2 moiety. The two moieties in the detected isomer are connected via one primary NH···S and two secondary CH···O hydrogen bonds. Quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM), non-covalent interaction (NCI), natural bond orbital (NBO) and symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) approaches were utilized for characterizing the intermolecular interactions occurring in the titled adduct. Additionally, the adduct of HCONH2 with dimethyl ether (DME) was also theoretically investigated to compare the difference in structure and energy characteristics between the NH···S and NH···O hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
Considering the astounding biomedicine properties of pharmaceutically active drug, 4-aminophenazone, also known as 4-aminoantipyrine, the work reported in this manuscript details the formation of novel cocrystals of rearranged 4-aminophenazone and 4-nitro-N-(4-nitrobenzoyl) benzamide in 1:1 stoichiometry under employed conditions for thiourea synthesis by exploiting the use of its active amino component. However, detailed analysis via various characterization techniques such as FT-IR, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and single crystal XRD, for this unforeseen, but useful cocrystalline synthetic adduct (4 and 5) prompted us to delve into its mechanistic pathway under provided reaction conditions. The coformer 4-nitro-N-(4-nitrobenzoyl) benzamide originates via nucleophilic addition reaction following tetrahedral mechanism between para-nitro substituted benzoyl amide and its acid halide (1). While the enamine nucleophilic addition reaction by 4-aminophenazone on 4-nitrosubstituted aroyl isothiocyanates under reflux temperature suggests the emergence of rearranged counterpart of cocrystal named N-(1,5-dimethyl-3-oxo-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonothioyl)-4-nitrobenzamide. Crystallographic studies reveal triclinic system P-1 space group for cocrystal (4 and 5) and depicts two different crystallographically independent molecules with prominent C–H···O and N–H···O hydrogen bonding effective for structure stabilization. Hirshfeld surface analysis also displays hydrogen bonding and van der Waals interactions as dominant interactions in crystal packing. Further insight into the cocrystal synthetic methodologies supported the occurrence of solution-based evaporation/cocrystallization methodology in our case during purification step, promoting the synthesis of this first-ever reported novel cocrystal of 4-aminophenazone with promising future application in medicinal industry.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Hybrid moieties of ethynylated-thiourea, Th1 and Th2 have been synthesised via the addition reaction between ethynyl derivatives and 4-tert-butylbenzoyl isothiocyanate in acetone, and were characterised by selected spectroscopic methods (i.e., 1H and 13C NMR, UV-visible, FT-IR) and elemental analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated that Th1 and Th2 were relatively stable up to ca. 210 °C. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction was used to identify the crystal structure of Th2 in which the centre of 1-acyl thiourea moiety (-C(O)NHC(S)NH) exhibits S conformation. The Hirshfeld surface analysis has allowed visualizing the crystal packing, which is characterised by the prolonged intermolecular N-H⋯O = C and N-H⋯S = C hydrogen-bonding interactions within Th2 molecule. Electrochemical data of both compounds correspondingly exhibit irreversible redox potential processes. Besides, frontier molecular orbitals and Natural Bond Orbital population analysis were computed at the B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) level of approximation, suggesting strong delocalization of the electronic density through a conjugated π-system involving the ethynyl-phenyl and thiourea groups. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT Figure of molecular structure for acyl thiourea-ethynyl derivative. Two derivatives of acyl thiourea-ethynyl were synthesised and characterised by selected spectroscopic methods such as 1H and 13C NMR, UV-visible, FT-IR, elemental, thermal, electrochemical, X-ray diffraction, and density functional theory (DFT) calculation for molecular orbitals and natural bond orbital population analysis.

Abstract
A series of novel N-acyl-N'-aryl thiourea derivatives were designed and prepared with the aim to develop dual responsive receptors for anions and cations. The structure of the new products was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy (13C and 1H), elemental analysis, and IR spectroscopy. Their thermal stability was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and it was found that these acyl thiourea derivatives are stable up to 160 °C. The ion recognition and sensing properties of the acyl thiourea compounds were investigated by UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy in organic media upon the addition of various salts. The UV-VIS studies revealed that these acyl thiourea derivatives are able to sense biological important ions such as fluoride and copper (II) ions.

Abstract
Detection and removal of metal ion contaminants have attracted great interest due to the health risks that they represent for humans and wildlife. Among the proposed compounds developed for these purposes, thiourea derivatives have been shown as quite efficient chelating agents of metal cations and have been proposed for heavy metal ion removal and for components of high-selectivity sensors. Understanding the nature of metal-ionophore activity for these compounds is thus of high relevance. We present a theoretical study on the interaction between substituted thioureas and metal cations, namely, Cd2+, Hg2+, and Pb2+. Two substituent groups have been chosen: 2-furoyl and m-trifluoromethylphenyl. Combining density functional theory simulations with wave function analysis techniques, we study the nature of the metal-thiourea interaction and characterize the bonding properties. Here, it is shown how the N,N'-disubstituted derivative has a strong affinity for Hg2+, through cation-hydrogen interactions, due to its greater oxidizing capacity.

Abstract
The effect of halogen substituents (X = Br, Cl, and F) on the crystal packing and intra- and intermolecular interactions in four adamantane-thiourea hybrid derivatives is investigated using different theoretical tools. The bromo and chloro derivatives exhibit 3D isostructurality as evident from lattice parameters, molecular conformation, and crystal packing. The density functional theory study suggests that the molecular conformation of the parent (unsubstituted) and fluoro derivatives exhibits a stable low energy anti-syn conformation. In contrast, bromo and chloro derivatives adopt stable and relatively high energy minima on their potential energy surfaces. Hirshfeld surface analysis reveals the effect of halogen substituents on the intermolecular contacts. The halogen atoms mainly reduce the contribution of H···H contacts toward crystal packing. PIXEL energy analysis indicates the strong dimer formed by N-H···S hydrogen bonds in all four structures. It also revealed that a vast number of H···H contacts observed in different dimers of these structures either presented along with other conventional interactions or solely stabilize the dimeric topology. The topological parameters for intermolecular interactions in these structures suggest an intermediate bonding character between shared and closed-shell interactions for N-H···S hydrogen bonds in the parent and chloro derivatives. In contrast, the N-H···S hydrogen bond in other structures is of a closed-shell interaction. Among four derivatives, the fluoro derivative is weakly packed in the solid state based on the PIXEL method's lattice energy calculation.

Abstract
The present study reports the convenient synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, bio-assays and computational evaluation of a novel series of N-acyl-1H-imidazole-1-carbothioamides. The screened derivatives displayed excellent antioxidant activity, moderate antibacterial and antifungal potential. The screened derivatives were found to be highly biocompatible against hRBCs. Molecular docking ascertained the mechanism and mode of action towards the molecular target delineating that ligands and complexes were stabilized at the active site by electrostatic and hydrophobic forces in accordance to the corresponding experimental results. Docking simulation provided additional information about the possibilities of inhibitory potential of the compounds against RNA. Computational evaluation predicted that N-acyl-1H-imidazole-1-carbothioamides 5c and 5g can serve as potential surrogates for hit to lead generation and design of novel antioxidant and antibacterial agents.

Abstract
In order to explore the effect of methylation on the stability and spectral shift of hydrogen bond complexes, the complexes of 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) with propylene oxide (PO) and isobutylene oxide (IBO) were investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and ab initio computations. The comparable OH-stretching red shifts were observed upon complexation, and an enhancement of the OH-stretching band is shown with the partial pressure of monomers increasing. The OH-stretching frequency of TFE is red shifted by 180 and 201 cm-1 with PO and IBO, respectively. By using quantum chemical calculations, we predicted the geometric parameters, binding energies, and spectral shifts of TFEPO/IBO hydrogen bond complexes. The calculated and observed spectral shifts follow the same trends. Compared with the TFEethylene oxide (EO) complex, the strength of the hydrogen bond in complex increases with the addition of methyl group, which likely results from the increase in basicity of the hydrogen bond acceptor. By combining the experimental integrated absorbance and the calculated IR intensity of the OH-stretching vibrational transition, the equilibrium constant for the complex formation was determined. In addition, atoms-in-molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analyses were carried out to explain the red shift and the nature of the interaction in these complexes.

Abstract
A multi-hydroxyl Schiff-base derivative, N-2'-hydroxyl-1'-naphthyl methylene-2-amino phenol (HNMAP), was synthesized and characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy. It was noted to find there was great effect for solvent and pH on the UV-vis spectroscopy of HNMAP. Especially, some metal ions could make its UV-vis spectra changed regularly with different time-resolved effects. For example, a real-time and multi-wavelength response to Fe2+ at 520 nm, 466 nm and 447 nm and a quite slow one about 26 min to Fe3+ at 447 nm and 466 nm, respectively. Under the optimized conditions, the changes in the corresponding absorption intensities at above wavelengths were in proportion to cFe2+ or cFe3+ during respectively partitioned linear ranges, which realized to quantitatively detect Fe2+ or Fe3+ with a large linear range more than two orders of magnitude. A 1:1 complex mode for HNMAP-Fe2+ and 1:2 for HNMAP-Fe3+ were proposed from UV-vis spectral titration and Job's plot. HNMAP would be a potential sensor for colorimetric detection of Fe2+ and Fe3+ in practice.

Abstract
1-Acyl thioureas [R1C(O)NHC(S)NR2R3] are shown to display conformational flexibility depending on the degree of substitution at the nitrogen atom. The conformational landscape and structural features for two closely related thioureas having R1=2-furoyl have been studied. The un-substituted 2-furoyl thiourea (I) and its dimethyl analogue, i.e. 1-(2-furoyl)-3,3-dimethyl thiourea (II), have been synthesized and fully characterized by spectroscopic (FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR) and elemental analysis. According to single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, compounds I and II crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c. In the compound I, the trans-cis geometry of the almost planar thiourea unit is stabilized by intramolecular NH⋯OC hydrogen bond between the H atom of the cis thioamide and the carbonyl O atom. In compound II, however, the acyl thiourea group is non-planar, in good agreement with the potential energy curve computed at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level of approximation. Centrosymmetric dimers generated by intermolecular NH⋯SC hydrogen bond forming R22(8) motif are present in the crystals. Intermolecular interactions have been rationalized in terms of topological partitions of the electron distributions and Hirshfeld surface analysis, which showed the occurrence of S⋯H, O⋯H and H⋯H contacts that display an important role to crystal packing stabilization of both thiourea derivatives.

Abstract
The title paper [1] reports a study on the spectroscopic and physicochemical properties of 1-(5-methyl- [1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-pyrrolidin-2-ol (MTPN) based on experimental and theoretical data. The latter ones are based on the computed molecular structure for a rather unusual conformer. Here, after a careful analysis of the conformational space of MTPN, the most stable conformation was determined for the molecule isolated in a vacuum, which results to be 21.9kJ/mol more stable than the conformer reported previously. Our study also includes the closely related species 1-(5-trifluoromethyl- [1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-pyrrolidin-2-ol (FMTPN). An intramolecular OH⋯N hydrogen bond determines the conformational behavior of the [1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-pyrrolidin-2-ol group as demonstrated by Natural Bond Orbital population analysis.

Abstract
The 2-(phenyl-hydrazono)-succinic acid dimethyl ester compound was synthesized by reacting phenylhydrazine with dimethylacetylene dicarboxylate at room temperature and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, Raman, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry. Its solid state structure was determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The X-ray structure determination corroborates that the molecule is present in the crystal as the hydrazone tautomer, probably favored by a strong intramolecular N-H···O=C hydrogen bond occurring between the carbonyl (-C=O) and the hydrazone -C=N-NH- groups. A substantial fragment of the molecular skeleton is planar due to an extended π-bonding delocalization. The topological analysis of the electron densities (Atom in Molecule, AIM) allows characterization of intramolecular N-H···O interaction, that can be classified as a resonant assisted hydrogen bond (RAHB). Moreover, the Natural Bond Orbital population analysis confirms that a strong hyperconjugative lpO1→σ*(N2-H) remote interaction between the C2=O1 and N2-H groups takes place. Periodic system electron density and topological analysis have been applied to characterize the intermolecular interactions in the crystal. Weak intermolecular interactions determine the crystal packing, and the prevalence of non-directional dispersive contributions are inferred on topological grounds. The IR spectrum of the crystalline compound was investigated by means of density functional theory calculations carried out with periodic boundary conditions on the crystal, showing excellent agreement between theory and the experiments. The vibrational assignment is complemented with the analysis of the Raman spectrum.

Abstract
We designed and synthesized new pyrazole thiourea chimeric derivatives and confirmed their structures by NMR and IR spectra. Apoptotic effects were studied in human cancer cells. The N-[(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)carbonyl]-N'-(3-bromophenyl)-thiourea compound (4b) exhibited the highest apoptosis-inducing effect. Compound 4b and the thiazole derivatives, 5b and 6b, increased the expression of tumor necrosis factor receptors TRAIL-R2 and TRAIL-R1, accompanied by down-modulation of pro-caspase 3 levels, and the augmentation of cleaved caspase 3. They also reduced the levels of apoptosis inhibitory proteins and the expression of the heat-shock proteins Hsp27 and Hsp70. All the tested pyrazole derivatives induced a concentration-dependent increase of cells in G2/M phases. The analysis of the experimental data indicates the reduction of Akt phosphorylation as the most probable cellular mechanism of action for the tested compounds. The in vitro study indicated that compound 4b could be a promising anti-cancer drug, to be further developed in animal models of cancer.
