Abstract
PURPOSE This is the second article in this series on the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) and ANPs (advanced nurse practitioners) regarding prehabilitation advice in oncology patients, exploring the barriers and facilitators to giving prehabilitation advice by CNSs and ANPs in oncology patients. METHODS A Cross-sectional online questionnaire opens for 3 months to establish the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of ANPs and CNSs to prehabilitation disseminated through professional organisations and social media. RESULTS The questionnaire gained (n = 415) responses. Prehabilitation advice was routinely given by 89% (n = 371) of respondents. Many (60%) identified a lack of guidance and referral processes as a barrier to giving prehabilitation advice; this corresponded between respondents' confidence to give prehabilitation advice and subsequent referrals (< 0.001). Other factors included time (61%), a lack of patient interest (44%) and limited relevance to patients (35%). CONCLUSION The implementation of standardised nurse prehabilitation advice resources would enable CNSs and ANPs to provide personalised prehabilitation advice in their consultations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this secondary analysis was to describe the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and perceived stress among women newly diagnosed with breast cancer and the impact of baseline and changes in anxiety on cognitive functioning following exercise and mind-body prehabilitation interventions. METHODS The sample consisted of 49 women with newly diagnosed breast cancer (stages I-III) who planned to undergo breast cancer surgery at two academic cancer centers. Participants were randomized to receive an exercise or mind-body prehabilitation intervention between the time of diagnosis and breast cancer surgery. Participants completed self-report measures of anxiety, depression (HADS), perceived stress, and cognitive functioning (EORTC-QLQ-C30) at study enrollment and prior to surgery (post-intervention). The relationships between change in cognitive functioning and change in anxiety among all participants were estimated using linear regression modeling. RESULTS A significant proportion of women with newly diagnosed breast cancer had clinically significant anxiety (34.0%). Greater anxiety was moderately associated with worse cognitive functioning (r = -0.33) at baseline. Linear modeling found that changes in cognitive functioning and anxiety were inversely related: Each one-unit decrease in anxiety was associated with a two-unit improvement in cognitive function (p = .06). CONCLUSIONS Anxiety was common in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer and was related to worse cognitive functioning. Assessment of anxiety at the time of diagnosis may allow for earlier anxiety management and subsequent improvement in cognitive functioning.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/SCOPE Malnutrition is a common problem among patients with head and neck cancer and can have adverse effects on overall health and treatment outcomes. Nutritional and physical prehabilitation are potential strategies to optimize the nutritional status of these patients. This systematic review aimed to identify and describe prehabilitative interventions that can promote an improvement in nutritional status. METHODS A systematic review of the literature was conducted in the databases PubMed/Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus and on the platform Web of Science and in Cochrane Library. The selected studies concern adults with head and neck tumours, not malnourished at the time of diagnosis, who undergo nutritional or physical prehabilitation. RESULTS Out of 1369 results, 7 studies were included. Multimodal prehabilitation interventions that combine nutritional counseling, oral nutritional supplements, and swallowing exercises to prevent dysphagia have shown positive outcomes in maintaining caloric intake, body weight, swallowing ability, and a reduced incidence of fibrosis in the upper gastrointestinal tract, as well as improving quality of life. CONCLUSION Despite the limited number of clinical studies available in the literature, the results suggest that nutritional and physical prehabilitation interventions have a positive effect on the nutritional status and clinical outcomes of patients with head and neck cancer, helping mitigate the risk of malnutrition and improve general well-being.

Abstract
PURPOSE Despite clear evidence-based supporting a benefit to exercise on physical and psychological metrics in patients with cancer, recruitment to exercise trials amongst cancer survivors is suboptimal. We explore current recruitment rates, strategies, and common barriers to participation in exercise oncology trials in cancer survivorship. METHODS A systematic review was conducted using a pre-defined search strategy in EMBASE, CINAHL, Medline, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. The search was performed up to 28/02/2022. Screening of titles and abstracts, full-text review, and data extraction was completed in duplicate. RESULTS Of the 3204 identified studies, 87 papers corresponding to 86 trials were included. Recruitment rates were highly variable with a median rate of 38% (range 0.52-100%). Trials recruiting prostate cancer patients only had the highest median recruitment rate (45.9%) vs trials recruiting colorectal cancer patients only which had the lowest (31.25%). Active recruitment strategies such as direct recruitment via a healthcare professional were associated with higher recruitment rates (rho = 0.201, p = 0.064). Common reasons for non-participation included lack of interest (46.51%, n (number of studies) = 40); distance and transport (45.3%, n = 39); and failure to contact (44.2%, n = 38). CONCLUSIONS Recruitment of cancer survivors to exercise interventions is suboptimal with barriers being predominantly patient-oriented. This paper provides the benchmark for current recruitment rates to exercise oncology trials, providing data for trialists planning future trial design and implementation, optimise future recruitment strategies, and evaluate their own recruitment success against current practice. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Enhanced recruitment to cancer survivorship exercise trials is necessary in facilitating the publication of definitive exercise guidelines, generalisable to varying cancer cohorts. Abstract
INTRODUCTION Radical cystectomy (RC) is the standard treatment for patients with non-metastatic muscle-invasive bladder cancer, as well as for patients with therapy refractory high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. However, 50-65% of patients undergoing RC experience perioperative complications. The risk, severity and impact of these complications is associated with a patient's preoperative cardiorespiratory fitness, nutritional and smoking status and presence of anxiety and depression. There is emerging evidence supporting multimodal prehabilitation as a strategy to reduce the risk of complications and improve functional recovery after major cancer surgery. However, for bladder cancer the evidence is still limited. The aim of this study is to investigate the superiority of a multimodal prehabilitation programme versus standard-of-care in terms of reducing perioperative complications in patients with bladder cancer undergoing RC. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This multicentre, open label, prospective, randomised controlled trial, will include 154 patients with bladder cancer undergoing RC. Patients are recruited from eight hospitals in The Netherlands and will be randomly (1:1) allocated to the intervention group receiving a structured multimodal prehabilitation programme of approximately 3-6 weeks, or to the control group receiving standard-of-care. The primary outcome is the proportion of patients who develop one or more grade ≥2 complications (according to the Clavien-Dindo classification) within 90 days of surgery. Secondary outcomes include cardiorespiratory fitness, length of hospital stay, health-related quality of life, tumour tissue biomarkers of hypoxia, immune cell infiltration and cost-effectiveness. Data collection will take place at baseline, before surgery and 4 and 12 weeks after surgery. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval for this study was granted by the Medical Ethics Committee NedMec (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) under reference number 22-595/NL78792.031.22. Results of the study will be published in international peer-reviewed journals. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT05480735.

Abstract
PURPOSE Vaginal changes, a frequently reported late effect among women treated with pelvic radiotherapy, can result in sexual dysfunction and distress. Women are recommended vaginal dilator therapy after completed radiotherapy; however, low adoption has been recognized. This study aims to provide insight into women's difficulties with carrying out vaginal dilator therapy and their experiences of information. METHODS Face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 12 pelvic cancer survivors in a selected sample of women with difficulties adopting the therapy. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. RESULTS One overarching theme, Being unprepared, emerged from three identified categories relating to Experience of received information, Experience of performing the therapy, and Motivation to perform the therapy. The women experienced the information as unrealistic and insufficient, and requested clearer and earlier information. Bleeding, pain, fear of cancer recurrence, and recalling memories from treatments were experienced. Women described intestinal symptoms, fatigue, and feeling that the therapy was self-harm as barriers to performing the therapy. They described creating routines, breathing exercises, relaxation, pre-warming the dilator and performing therapy together with their partner as helpful strategies. CONCLUSIONS Careful discussion, early and clear communication, psychoeducation and supportive follow-up of vaginal changes should be integrated into cancer treatment and follow up. Healthcare professionals should be aware of potential difficulties with vaginal dilator therapy and identify women in need of extended support. Research is required to investigate interventions that suit the needs of female pelvic cancer survivors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To review the recent literature around patient-centric prehabilitation in oncology patients and propose a conceptual framework to inform development of interdisciplinary prehabilitation services leading to focused, individualized prehabilitation interventions. DATA SOURCES A review of recent peer-reviewed literature, national guidance, and government strategy on prehabilitation in oncology patients. CONCLUSION Patient- centric prehabilitation is key to improving patient's experiences of cancer throughout the cancer journey while improving population health and reducing financial costs. Successful personalized prehabilitation interventions are comprised of an interplay between individual interdisciplinary roles, as illustrated in the conceptual framework. The role of the nurse underpins this whole process in patient screening, assessment, implementation of the intervention, and patient reassessment, ensuring care is dynamic and tailored to patient need. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE The review has discussed the key role that nurses play in the process but warrants more research in the area. The conceptual framework provides a basis to develop interdisciplinary prehabilitation services underpinned by the nurse's role. The review advocates the use of educational interventions to equip all health professionals with prehabilitation knowledge to enable interdisciplinary prehabilitation services to be developed.

Abstract
Purpose Prehabilitation is increasingly offered to patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) undergoing surgery as it could prevent complications and facilitate recovery. However, implementation of such a complex multidisciplinary intervention is challenging. This study aims to explore perspectives of professionals involved in prehabilitation to gain understanding of barriers or facilitators to its implementation and to identify strategies to successful operationalization of prehabilitation. Methods In this qualitative study, semi-structured interviews were performed with healthcare professionals involved in prehabilitation for patients with CRC. Prehabilitation was defined as a preoperative program with the aim of improving physical fitness and nutritional status. Parallel with data collection, open coding was applied to the transcribed interviews. The Ottawa Model of Research Use (OMRU) framework, a comprehensive interdisciplinary model guide to promote implementation of research findings into healthcare practice, was used to categorize obtained codes and structure the barriers and facilitators into relevant themes for change. Results Thirteen interviews were conducted. Important barriers were the conflicting scientific evidence on (cost-)effectiveness of prehabilitation, the current inability to offer a personalized prehabilitation program, the complex logistic organization of the program, and the unawareness of (the importance of) a prehabilitation program among healthcare professionals and patients. Relevant facilitators were availability of program coordinators, availability of physician leadership, and involving skeptical colleagues in the implementation process from the start. Conclusions Important barriers to prehabilitation implementation are mainly related to the intervention being complex, relatively unknown and only evaluated in a research setting. Therefore, physicians’ leadership is needed to transform care towards more integration of personalized prehabilitation programs. Implications for cancer survivors By strengthening prehabilitation programs and evidence of their efficacy using these recommendations, it should be possible to enhance both the pre- and postoperative quality of life for colorectal cancer patients during survivorship.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer is a leading cause of illness globally. Advancements in screening and treatment have led to improved survivorship. Physiotherapy is integral in improving survivorship for people with cancer, with strong evidence supporting the use of various physiotherapy services. However, the scope and extent of these services within clinical practice in Australia is unknown. AIM Identify and describe physiotherapy service provision for cancer survivors in Australia and describe the scope of physiotherapy services provided to cancer survivors. METHODS This cross-sectional study recruited physiotherapists and their respective managers involved in cancer service/s provision across Australia. Physiotherapy departments of tertiary hospitals and known oncology rehabilitation programs were contacted through a government directory and snowball sampling. The online survey included questions related to the extent and scope of service provision of physiotherapy for cancer survivors. Quantitative data were descriptively analyzed whereas open-ended responses were analyzed and presented narratively. RESULTS Seventy-nine physiotherapy services were identified from 159 hospitals and/or health networks. Of the 55 (70%) responses received, 87% were from metropolitan areas, whereas 13% were regionally/rurally based services. Prehabilitation services mostly offered individual programs whereas rehabilitation programs had a mix of individual and group-based programs. The service content between prehabilitation and rehabilitation were similar, comprising primarily exercise-based interventions, followed by education and impairment-based therapies. CONCLUSION Few designated physiotherapy services for cancer survivors exist in Australia. There is also disparity between service provision between metropolitan and regional/rural areas highlighting a need for clinicians, managers, and policy makers to invest more resources in establishing oncology physiotherapy services.

Sexual health and wellbeing among female pelvic cancer survivors following individualized interventions in a nurse-led clinic. Support Care Cancer 2022; 30:8981-8996. Abstract
PURPOSE Treatment-induced sexual and intestinal dysfunctions coexist among women after pelvic radiotherapy. We aimed to explore if sexual health and wellbeing may be improved after radiotherapy following nurse-led interventions and if an association exists between improved intestinal health and sexual health. METHODS A population-based cohort of women treated with pelvic radiotherapy underwent interventions at a nurse-led clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Sweden, from 2011 to 2017. Self-reported questionnaires were used, pre- and post-intervention, to compare self-reported changes in sexual health and wellbeing. A regression model was performed to explore the association between intestinal and wellbeing variables. RESULTS Among the 260 female pelvic cancer survivors included in the study, more women reported increased than decreased satisfaction with overall sexual health post-intervention (26.0% vs. 15.3%, p = 0.035). They also reported significantly reduced superficial genital pain (25.8% vs. 13.1%, p ≤ 0.025), reduced deep genital pain (23.1% vs. 8.0%, p ≤ 0.001), increased QoL (42.7% vs. 22.4%, p < 0.001), and reduced levels of depression (43.1% vs. 28.0%, p = 0.003) or anxiety (45.9% vs. 24.4%, p < 0.001) post-intervention. We found a significant association between reduced urgency to defecate and improved satisfaction with overall sexual health (RR 3.12, CI 1.27-7.68, p = 0.004) and between reduced urgency to defecate with fecal leakage and reduced anxious mode (RR 1.56, CI 1.04-2.33, p = 0.021). CONCLUSION Sexual health and wellbeing can be improved by interventions provided in a nurse-led clinic focusing on physical treatment-induced late effects. Further research to optimize treatment strategies in female pelvic cancer survivors is needed.

Abstract
Exercise is an essential component of healthy living and well-being. While there is a global acceptance of the benefits of exercise for the general population, there exists hesitancy and confusion among health-care professionals, particularly oncologists, as to whether these benefits translate to cancer patients. Patient referrals to accessible, structured exercise programs in this setting are often overlooked by physicians when formulating a cancer management plan. There is however increasing awareness and acceptance of cancer survivorship as a part of the cancer care continuum, identifying multiple factors that contribute to well-being beyond just cancer outcomes. Efforts to optimize cancer survivorship have stimulated further academic interest in the benefits of healthy living and particularly exercise oncology. There is now compelling evidence that exercise, which includes daily activities such as walking, as well as structured programs, improves multiple-cancer outcomes such as fatigue, quality of life and likely survival, and warrants consideration in the multidisciplinary care of cancer patients. International guidelines have been established that recommend counseling cancer patients with regard to healthy lifestyle changes including exercise. However, there still remains a reluctance from oncology physicians to prescribe exercise for these patients, largely due to uncertainty with regard to their patients' ability to tolerate such an intervention, coupled with insufficient understanding of the potential benefits of these programs. There also exist patient barriers and attitudes that must be overcome. Exercise strategies and bespoke programs that are tailored to the unique abilities and goals of the patients will enhance participation. To move the field forward and integrate exercise oncology into standard practice, it is imperative to raise awareness of the benefits of exercise to cancer patients and their health-care providers. This will facilitate the prescription of exercise as part of the multimodal treatment plan with the ultimate aim of promoting an active lifestyle to optimize patient care and well-being.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Physical activity (PA) has been shown to improve patient-centered care for cancer-related symptoms, treatment-related side effects, and health-related quality of life. OBJECTIVES This feasibility study aimed to explore PA preferences and changes in functional capacity and symptoms during a two-week self-prescribed PA intervention prior to treatment in men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. METHODS Men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer were recruited from a community hospital, part of an academic comprehensive cancer center in the southeastern United States. An individualized PA intervention prescription was developed using baseline measures. Baseline and two-week measures consisted of functional capacity, PA participation, and symptom impact. Descriptive statistics and t tests were used. FINDINGS Thirteen men aged an average of 66.14 years (SD = 6.82) participated. Participants significantly improved functional capacity. Most common PAs were walking (n = 9) and yard work (n = 6).

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to reveal information that can be used for composing a prehabilitation program tailored to elderly gynecological oncological patients and is applicable to healthcare professionals. We investigated possible content and indications for prehabilitation, and what potential barriers might exist. MATERIALS AND METHODS Because of the primary exploratory study aim, inductive thematic template analysis on semi-structured interviews with gynecologic oncological patients aged ≥60 years and healthcare professionals were used. RESULTS 16 patients and 20 healthcare professionals were interviewed. Three themes important for prehabilitation were found: (1) "Motivation," (2) "Practical issues and facilitators," and (3) "Patient-related factors." A short time interval between diagnosis and surgery was reported as a potential barrier for prehabilitation. Given components for a tailor-made prehabilitation program are: (1) The first contact with a nurse who screens the patients, gives tailor-made advice on prehabilitation and keeps patients motivated and supports them mentally; (2) If patients are referred to a more extensive/supervised program, this should preferably be arranged close to a patients' home. CONCLUSION Based on our findings, an outline of a patient-tailored prehabilitation program was developed. The main important themes for prehabilitation were "Motivation," "Practical issues and facilitators," and "Patient-related factors."IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONPatients and healthcare professionals are positive about prehabilitation.Main themes for designing a prehabilitation program are "Motivation," "Practical issues and facilitators," and "Patient-related factors."Nursing staff can play a key role in prehabilitation.It is important to screen patients for specific impairments to obtain a tailor-made prehabilitation program.For some patients, general advice on prehabilitation might be sufficient, while others may need more supervision.The time interval between diagnosis and surgery is often short and is perceived as a potentially significant barrier for an effective prehabilitation program.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although preoperative physical exercise has been demonstrated to be associated with clinical improvements among abdominal cancer patients, there remains heterogeneity in exercise strategies and uncertainty of what the optimal strategies should be. PURPOSE This scoping review aimed to review and summarize the existing knowledge about preoperative exercise strategies for abdominal cancer patients. METHODS The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) framework for conducting scoping reviews was adopted to investigate preoperative physical exercise strategies for patients undergoing major abdominal cancer surgery. RESULTS A total of 1563 studies were identified and 24 were included in this review. Most of the study populations were colorectal cancer (n = 14). The most common type of exercise was a combination of aerobic and resistance exercises (n = 19). The most common form of aerobic exercise was walking (n = 13) or cycling (n = 12). Most resistance exercises were targeting at major muscle groups (n = 12). Most of the studies were performed at moderate intensity (n = 14) with frequency of 2 ~ 3 times/week (n = 14). The time of a training session was 30 ~ 60 min in half studies (n = 12). The intervention duration for most studies was less than 4 weeks (n = 11). Exercise locations included home (n = 10), facility (n = 7), and a combination of home and facility (n = 5). Phone calls were utilized by nearly half of the home-based exercise studies to supervise the exercise adherence (n = 7). CONCLUSIONS This review provides a comprehensive summary of preoperative physical exercise strategies. It has the potential to inform clinical practice and future studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess exercise levels and exercise counselling /programming preferences among older cancer survivors. MATERIALS AND METHODS A mixed-methods study design was employed. Quantitative instruments on exercise levels, exercise counselling and programming preferences, frailty status, and cancer-related symptoms were administered to 290 post-treatment older cancer survivors aged ≥65. Twelve participants with different exercise levels and different views on exercise counselling and programming were purposively selected to participate in semi-structured interviews. RESULTS Overall, 58.3% of participants did not meet the recommended exercise guidelines, and 44.1% were not engaging in any vigorous or moderate exercise. Frail survivors were less likely to meet the guidelines (aOR = 0.194, 95%CI = 0.053, 0.712) compared to their robust counterparts. However, 66.9% and 62.8% of participants expressed a definite or possible interest in receiving exercise counselling and participating in an exercise program, respectively. Particularly, survivors who are male, did not receive chemotherapy, are less educated, and have higher symptom burden were less likely to show interest. Most preferred low-intensity exercise (59.8%) and wanted to start the exercise program after treatment (68.2%), which differs from the literature on general adult survivors. The major trigger to initiate and maintain exercise behaviors was the benefits of exercise and a common barrier to exercising was lack of time. CONCLUSION Most older cancer survivors did not meet the recommended exercise guidelines, but they were open to exercise counselling and programming. Reviewing education on the benefits of exercise is especially important after treatment completion to promote healthy lifestyles.

Abstract
Background Substantial postoperative complications occur after tumor resection for esophagogastric cancers. Physical prehabilitation programs aim to prepare patients for surgery by improving their functional status with the aim of reducing postoperative complications. This systematic review aims to summarize the effects of physical prehabilitation programs on exercise capacity, muscle strength, respiratory muscle function, postoperative outcomes, and health-related quality of life and to determine the optimal design of such a program to improve these outcomes in esophagogastric cancer patients undergoing tumor resection. Methods A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Scopus, and PEDro databases to identify studies evaluating the effects of physical prehabilitation program on exercise capacity, muscle strength, respiratory muscle function, postoperative complications, length of hospital stay, mortality, and health-related quality of life in patients with esophagogastric cancer awaiting surgery. Data from all studies meeting the inclusion criteria were extracted. The quality of each selected study was determined using the Downs and Black checklist. Results Seven studies with 645 participants were included. The preoperative exercise program consisted of respiratory training alone in three studies, a combination of aerobic and resistance training in two studies, and a combination of respiratory, aerobic, and resistance training in two studies. Training frequency ranged from three times a day to twice a week and each session lasted between 20 and 75 min. Four studies were of fair quality and three of good quality. Some studies reported improvements in maximal inspiratory pressure, inspiratory muscle endurance, postoperative (pulmonary) complications, and length of hospital stay in the preoperative exercise group compared to the control group. Conclusion This systematic review reports the current evidence for physical prehabilitation programs in patients with esophagogastric cancer awaiting surgery. However, due to the limited number of randomized controlled trials, the significant heterogeneity of exercise programs, and the questionable quality of the studies, higher quality randomized controlled trials are needed. Abstract
SummaryCancer prehabilitation uses the pretreatment time period to prevent a treatment-related functional decline and its subsequent consequences, and therefore occurs between the time of cancer diagnosis and the beginning of acute cancer treatment. This intervention has been shown to improve functional status, physical and psychological health outcomes and decrease overall health care costs. Currently there are several unimodal and one multimodal cancer prehabilitation regimens. Unimodal cancer prehabilitation includes exercise only, and multimodal cancer prehabilitation regimens are combinations of different interventions such as exercise, patient information and education, nutrition, psychologic counseling such as psycho-oncology, smoking cessation and reduction of alcohol consumption. Both approaches have the goal to improve physical capacity and mental health and to enable cancer patients to cope with the upcoming stress of the specific cancer-related treatment they need. Furthermore, cancer prehabilitation can support cancer patients to better participate in cancer rehabilitation after cancer treatment and maintain their ability to engage in premorbid activities. A growing body of scientific evidence confirms the importance of cancer prehabilitation. Further research is needed to study effectiveness and efficiency as well as clinical aspects of unimodal and multimodal cancer prehabilitation interventions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Exercise support for people with cancer is a national priority. The purpose of this study was to identify the success factors necessary to create a model of exercise support for people affected by cancer in a large city in the north of England. METHOD Two groups of participants were recruited; people affected by cancer (n = 26) and professional stakeholders (n = 14) contributing to either focus groups or semi-structured interviews. Data were analysed using framework analysis. RESULTS Results from this study suggest that the promotion of exercise is not a priority in routine cancer care. Patients identified a lack of support and difficulty attaining information as a barrier to becoming active, emphasising a gulf between the patients' needs and the health professionals' priorities. People affected by cancer and professionals agreed that exercise was beneficial to cancer patients both during and after treatment. For an exercise pathway to be successful, key factors were identified including accessibility; tailored support; social interaction; affordability; competence of exercise delivery staff. CONCLUSIONS There was consensus on the importance of exercise and critical factors required to develop a sustainable, accessible and effective service. Evidence to inform the development of an exercise pathway for people affected by cancer is provided.Implications for rehabilitationExercise should be an included component of a cancer treatment plan, discussed and initiated from diagnosis.Health professionals have a responsibility to provide clear, consistent evidence-based advice on exercise.Exercise professionals must be appropriately trained in cancer rehabilitation according to National Institute for Health and care Excellence (2014).Individual assessments of exercise needs, preferences and cancer limitations will result in a bespoke plan of recommendations and support.The option of group activities has the advantage of increased social interaction, peer support and shared experiences.Available exercise/physical activity services should be accessible and affordable but may involve a modest contribution.
