Abstract
Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is highly contagious and poses a serious threat to sericulture production. Because there are currently no effective treatments for BmNPV, a rapid and simple detection method is urgently needed. This paper describes an electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of BmNPV. The immunosensor was fabricated by covalently immobilizing anti-BmNPV, a biorecognition element, onto the surface of the working gold electrode via 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA)/β-mercaptoethanol (ME) hybrid self-assembled monolayers. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to characterize the electrochemical performance and morphology of the immunosensor, respectively. Under optimum conditions, the developed immunosensor exhibited a linear response to BmNPV polyhedrin in the range of 1 × 102-1 × 108 fg/mL, with a low detection limit of 14.54 fg/mL. The immunosensor also exhibited remarkable repeatability, reproducibility, specificity, accuracy, and regeneration. Normal silkworm blood was mixed with BmNPV polyhedrin and analyzed quantitatively using this sensor, and the recovery was 92.31 %-100.61 %. Additionally, the sensor was used to analyze silkworm blood samples at different time points after BmNPV infection, and an obvious antigen signal was detected at 12 h post infection. Although this result agreed with that provided by the conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, the electroanalysis method established in this study was simpler, shorter in detection period, and lower in material cost. Furthermore, this innovative electrochemical immunosensor, developed for the ultra-sensitive and rapid detection of BmNPV, can be used for the early detection of virus-infected silkworms.

Abstract
Ascorbic acid (AA), which plays a vital role in the metabolism of the human body, is closely correlated with various diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, scurvy, Parkinson's disease, urinary stones, and diarrhea. The detection of AA is of great significance for early prevention and diagnosis of related diseases. In this paper, a high-performance photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was constructed based on cadmium sulfide-gold (CdS-Au) composite nanomaterials for ultrasensitive ascorbic acid (AA) detection. Due to the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), the PEC performance of CdS-Au composite nanomaterials was significantly improved compared to CdS semiconductor nanomaterials. Under the optimal conditions, the AA concentration was linearly related to the photocurrent signal in the range of 0.01 μM-200 μM, with the detection limit being 0.2 nM (S/N = 3) and the sensitivity being 642.9 μA mM-1 cm-2. In addition, the mechanism of the PEC sensor based on CdS-Au composite nanomaterials for ultrasensitive AA detection was discussed. Lastly, the self-constructed PEC sensors have been successfully applied in detecting AA in vitamin C tablets and actual blood samples, meeting the detection criteria required by the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (CP, 2020 edition). The self-fabricated PEC sensors in this paper are expected to be used for quality assessment of AA-related drugs and diagnosis of relevant diseases.

Abstract
Small biomolecules play a critical role in the fundamental processes that sustain life and are essential for the proper functioning of the human body. The detection of small biomolecules has garnered significant interest in various fields, including disease diagnosis and medicine. Electrochemical techniques are commonly employed in the detection of critical biomolecules through the principle of redox reactions. It is also a very convenient, cheap, simple, fast, and accurate measurement method in analytical chemistry. Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are a unique type of metal-organic framework (MOF) composed of porous crystals with extended three-dimensional structures. These frameworks are made up of metal ions and imidazolate linkers, which form a highly porous and stable structure. In addition to their many advantages in other applications, ZIFs have emerged as promising candidates for electrochemical sensors. Their large surface area, pore diameter, and stability make them ideal for use in sensing applications, particularly in the detection of small molecules and ions. This review summarizes the critical role of small biomolecules in the human body, the standard features of electrochemical analysis, and the utilization of various types of ZIF materials (including carbon composites, metal-based composites, ZIF polymer materials, and ZIF-derived materials) for the detection of important small biomolecules in human body fluids. Lastly, we provide an overview of the current status, challenges, and future outlook for research on ZIF materials.

Abstract
Rapid and accurate determination of luteolin is of great significance for pharmaceutical quality control. Herein, a disposable and sensitive luteolin sensor was fabricated by a hydrothermal method with carbon paper as substrate where ZIF-8 grew on GR in situ. Notably, the large specific surface area of ZIF-8 provided active sites on the electrode surface and the ability of GR to promote electron transfer greatly improved the sensitivity towards the oxidation of luteolin. Under the optimum conditions, the ZIF-8@GR/CP showed excellent detection performance for luteolin with a linear detection range of 0.04-3.2 μM and 3.2-120 μM, with LOD of 12 nM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, this disposable and sensitive sensor was successfully applied for the quantitative detection of luteolin in a capsule of Lamiophlomis rotata.

Abstract
Protein-protected metal nanomaterials are becoming the most promising fluorescent nanomaterials for biosensing, bioimaging, and therapeutic applications due to their obvious fluorescent molecular properties, favorable biocompatibility and excellent physicochemical properties. Herein, we pioneeringly prepared a cellulase protected fluorescent gold nanoclusters (Cel-Au NCs) exhibiting red fluorescence under the excitation wavelength of 560 nm via a facile and green one-step method. Based on the fluorescence turn-off mechanism, the Cel-Au NCs were used as a biosensor for specificity determination of ascorbic acid (AA) at the emission of 680 nm, which exhibited satisfactory linearity over the range of 10-400 µM and the detection limit of 2.5 µM. Further, the actual sample application of the Au NCs was successfully established by evaluating AA in serum with good recoveries of 98.76%-104.83%. Additionally, the bacteria, including gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) and gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli), were obviously stained by Cel-Au NCs with strong red emission. Thereby, as dual-functional nanoclusters, the prepared Cel-Au NCs have been proven to be an excellent fluorescent bioprobe for the detection of AA and bacterial labeling in medical diagnosis and human health maintenance.

Abstract
In this paper, a novel electrochemical sensor was constructed for the detection of purine bases. Ultrafine carbide nanocrystals confined within porous nitrogen-doped carbon dodecahedrons (PNCD) were synthesized by adding molybdate to ZIF-8 followed by annealing. With MoC-based PNCDs (MC-PNCDs) as the carrier, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were deposited on the electrode surface via potentiostatic deposition as the promoter of electron transfer, forming a AuNPs/MC-PNCDs/activated glassy carbon electrode (AGCE) sensor. MC-PNCDs had a large specific surface area, which combined with the excellent electrocatalytic activity of AuNPs, synergistically improved the electrocatalytic activity. The morphology and structure of the electrode surface modifier were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis, and electrochemical characterization. Under the optimal conditions, the linear detection range of guanine (G) and adenine (A) was 0.5-160.0 μM, and the detection limits (S/N=3) were 72.1 and 69.6 nM, respectively. AuNPs/MC-PNCDs/AGCE was successfully constructed, and was used to simultaneously detect G and A with high sensitivity and selectivity. Moreover, the sensor was successfully used to detect G and A in herring sperm DNA samples.

Abstract
Ascorbate oxidase (AAO) and ascorbic acid (AA) play an important role in delaying lives senescence and metabolism. In this study, a sensitive ratiometric fluorescence sensing system based on the inner filter effect (IFE) between persistent luminescent particles (PLPs) and 2, 3-diaminophenazine (DAP), was designed for the detection of AA and AAO activity. Wherein, PLPs emit blue fluorescence at 475 nm with an excitation wavelength of 370 nm. CoOOH nanosheets with oxidase-like activity can oxidize o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to produce 2, 3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with orange fluorescence at 558 nm. The generated DAP quenched the fluorescence of PLPs by an inner filter effect (IFE). When AA was introduced to the system, CoOOH nanosheets were destroyed and reduced to Co2+, thereby inhibiting the oxidization of OPD and effectively preserving the blue fluorescence of PLPs at 475 nm. Besides, AAO can catalyse AA to produce the oxided dehydroascorbic acid (DHA). The dissipative AA can recover orange fluorescence of DAP with weakening the blue fluorescence of PLPs. Therefore, a sensitive ratio fluorescence sensing strategy was established by using PLPs as the reference signal and DAP as a reported signal for the detection of AA and AAO activity. Under optimal conditions, the obtained linear ranges were 1-45 μM and 1-20 mU/mL, and detection limits were 0.2 μM and 0.25 mU/mL, respectively. Finally, this proposed ratiometric fluorescent analytical strategy was used to detect AA in real samples (lemon, orange, tomato), which exhibited satisfactory results comparing with commercial kit.

Abstract
The rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of ascorbic acid (AA) is of significance in medical assays and diagnostics. In this work, a new amino perylenediimide derived (APDI) ratiometric fluorescent probe based on the specific redox reaction of cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoOOH) and AA was constructed. APDI exhibited dual fluorescence emission peaks at 549 and 596 nm with an excitation wavelength of 494 nm. In the presence of CoOOH, the dual fluorescence could be quenched. The dominant fluorescence quenching mechanism was caused by the inner filter effect. Using the red emission as a reference, the fluorescence intensity ratio (F549 /F596 ) was linearly correlated with the concentration of AA over a range of 0.05 to 1 μM. The limit of detection for AA was found to be 17 nM. Importantly, the probe was successfully used to detect AA in living cells. Therefore, this high sensitivity and selectivity strategy could directly survey the AA levels in real samples.

Abstract
A novel enzyme-free photoelectrochemical (PEC) potential measurement system based on Dy-OSCN was designed for ascorbic acid (AA) detection. The separation and transmission of internal carriers were accelerated and the chemical properties became more stable under light excitation due to the regular microstructure of the prepared Dy-OSCN monocrystal. More importantly, the PEC potential method (OCPT, open circuit potential-time) used in this work was conducive to the reduction of photoelectric corrosion and less interference introduced during the detection process, which effectively ensured the repeatability and stability of the electrode. Under optimal conditions, the monocrystal successfully served as a matrix for the detection of AA, and the prepared PEC sensor exhibited a wide linear range from 7.94 × 10−6 mol/L to 1.113 × 10−2 mol/L and a sensitive detection limit of 3.35 μM. Practical human urine sample analysis further revealed the accuracy and feasibility of the Dy-OSCN-based PEC platform. It is expected that such a PEC sensor would provide a new way for rapid and non-invasive AA level assessment in human body constitution monitoring and lays a foundation for the further development of practical products.

Abstract
A new rapid and accurate method was developed for simultaneous determination of pyridoxine and pyridoxal in ginkgo seeds, using ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) equipped with a fluorescence detector. Diluted hydrochloric acid solution was used as the extracting solvent. For the pretreatment of extracts, a zeolitic imidazolate framework material (ZIF-8) was prepared and characterized. An ODS-BP column (4.6 mm × 250 mm × 5 μm) was used for separation. The conditions of sample extraction, cleaning and separation were optimized. The linear correlation coefficient (R2) of the analyte was better than 0.9999, indicating good linearity. The limits of detection (LODs) of pyridoxal and pyridoxine were 0.0065 mg/kg and 0.0057 mg/kg, respectively, and limits of quantitation (LOQs) were 0.022 mg/kg and 0.019 mg/kg, respectively. The recovery of the two substances ranged from 86.2% to 110.4%, and the relative standard deviation (n = 6) was less than 7.5%. The method was applied to determine the contents of pyridoxine and pyridoxal in actual ginkgo seed samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
We demonstrate the density and shape of platinum nanoparticles (PtNP) on carbon-fiber microelectrodes with fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) directly impacts detection of adenosine. Previously, we showed that metal nanoparticle-modified carbon significantly improves adenine-based purine detection; however, how the size and shape of the particles impact electrochemical detection was not investigated. Electrochemical investigations of how the surface topology and morphology impacts detection is necessary for designing ultrasensitive electrodes and for expanding fundamental knowledge of electrode-analyte interactions. To change the density and shape of the PtNP's on the surface, we varied the concentration of K2PtCl6 and electrodeposition time. We show that increasing the concentration of K2PtCl6 increases the density of PtNP's while increasing the electrodeposition time impacts both the density and size. These changes manipulate the adsorption behavior which impacts sensitivity. Based on these results, an optimal electrodeposition procedure was determined to be 1.0 mg/mL of K2PtCl6 deposited for 45 s and this results in an average increase in adenosine detection by 3.5 ±0.3-fold. Interestingly, increasing the size and density of PtNPs negatively impacts dopamine detection. Overall, this work provides fundamental insights into the differences between adenosine and dopamine interaction at electrode surfaces.

Abstract
In this study, a clustered carbon aerogel interconnected by carbon balls (CCAI-CB) was prepared as an electrode material to construct a multi-functional electrochemical sensor. CCAI-CB derived from taros (Colocasia esculenta (L). Schott) possesses meso-macroporous structure and plenty of defective sites, and shows notable activity in electrocatalysis as an electrode material. We investigated the application of CCAI-CB modified glassy carbon electrode (CCAI-CB/GCE) for determination of ascorbic acid (AA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Compared with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified GCE (CNTs/GCE) and bare GCE, CCAI-CB/GCE shows lower detection limit (0.23 μM for AA and 1.31 μM, S/N = 3), higher sensitivities (220.53, 148.86 or 94.39 μA mM-1 cm-2 for AA and 83.06 or 49.07 μA mM-1 cm-2 for H2O2). Concentrations of AA and H2O2 in real samples were determined at CCAI-CB/GCE with satisfactory detection results obtained. In addition, when the CCAI-CB/GCE was used for electrocatalysis of other biomolecules, it also exhibits high electrochemical activity. Thus, CCAI-CB could be a promising electrode material for the construction of multi-functional electrochemical sensors.
