A rich array of reactions occur using N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) or N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) as reactants, these two amides being able to deliver their own H, C, N, and O atoms for the synthesis of a variety of compounds. This account highlights the literature published since June 2018, completing previous reviews by the author.

Recent Progress in the Synthesis of Heterocycles Based on 1,3-Diketones

N,O-heterocycles containing the dicarbonyl ring play a significant role in heterocyclic and therapeutic chemistry. Since the discovery of 1,3-diketones, numerous research works have been achieved regarding the synthesis and its chemical reactivity. In this review, we have described the most relevant publications involving β-diketone compounds published during the period between 2018 to date. In addition, we include the 1,3-diketones-based heterocyclic compounds prepared by various synthetic methodologies.

The copper-catalyzed selective monoalkylation of active methylene compounds with alkylsilyl peroxides

A novel method for a mild copper-catalyzed selective monoalkylation of active methylene compounds with various alkylsilyl peroxides has been developed. The reaction has a broad substrate scope and our mechanistic studies suggest the participation of radical species in this alkylation reaction.

Progress and prospects in copper-catalyzed C-H functionalization

Copper-catalyzed C-H functionalization is becoming a significant area in organic chemistry. Copper is now widely used as a catalyst in organic synthesis as it is inexpensive and not very toxic. Functionalization of C-H bonds to construct wide varieties of organic compounds has received much attention in recent times. This review focuses on the recent advances in Cu-catalyzed C-H functionalization and covers literature from 2018-2020.
