Abstract
The oxyanionic ring-opening polymerization of propylene oxide (PO) from an exogenous alcohol activated with benign (complexed) metal-alkali carboxylates is described. The equimolar mixture of potassium acetate (KOAc) and 18-crown-6 ether (18C6) is demonstrated to be the complex of choice for preparing poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) in a controlled manner. In the presence of 18C6/KOAc, hydrogen-bonded alcohols act as soft nucleophiles promoting the PO SN 2 process at room temperature and in solvent-free conditions while drastically limiting the occurrence of parasitic hydrogen abstraction generally observed during the anionic ROP of PO. The resulting PPO displays predictable and unprecedented molar masses (up to 20 kg mol-1 ) with low dispersities (ĐM < 1.1), rendering the 18C6/KOAc complex the most performing activator for the oxyanionic polymerization of PO reported to date. Preliminary studies on the preparation of block and statistical copolyethers are also reported.

Abstract
The trans-chelating bis(oxazoline) ligand (R,R)-4,6-dibenzofurandiyl-2,2'-bis(4-phenyloxazoline) [(R,R)-DBFOX/Ph] coordinates metal ions to give C2-symmetric complexes which effectively catalyze a variety of asymmetric reactions. (R,R)-DBFOX/Ph·Ni(ClO4)2·3H2O, whose crystal structure is octahedral with three aqua ligands, can be stored under air for several months without loss of catalytic activity and promotes highly enantioselective reactions even in the presence of excess amounts of water, alcohols, amines, and acids. The complex shows remarkable chiral amplification in asymmetric Diels-Alder (DA) reactions. This review focuses on enantioselective reactions catalyzed by (R,R)-DBFOX/Ph·metal complexes.

Abstract
The metal-catalyzed asymmetric conjugate addition (ACA) reaction has emerged as a general and powerful approach for the construction of optically active compounds and is among the most significant and useful reactions in synthetic organic chemistry. In recent years, great progress has been made in this area with the use of various chiral metal complexes based on different chiral ligands. This review provides comprehensive and critical information on the enantioselective 1,4-conjugate addition of nonorganometallic (soft) nucleophiles and their importance in synthetic applications. The literature is covered from the last 10 years, and a number of examples from before 2007 are included as background information. The review is divided into multiple parts according to the type of nucleophile involved in the reaction (such as C-, B-, O-, N-, S-, P-, and Si-centered nucleophiles) and metal catalyst systems used.

Abstract
Octahedral iridium(III) complexes containing two bidentate cyclometalating 5-tert-butyl-2-phenylbenzoxazole (IrO) or 5-tert-butyl-2-phenylbenzothiazole (IrS) ligands in addition to two labile acetonitrile ligands are demonstrated to constitute a highly versatile class of asymmetric Lewis acid catalysts. These complexes feature the metal center as the exclusive source of chirality and serve as effective asymmetric catalysts (0.5-5.0 mol % catalyst loading) for a variety of reactions with α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, namely Friedel-Crafts alkylations (94-99% ee), Michael additions with CH-acidic compounds (81-97% ee), and a variety of cycloadditions (92-99% ee with high d.r.). Mechanistic investigations and crystal structures of an iridium-coordinated substrates and iridium-coordinated products are consistent with a mechanistic picture in which the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds are activated by two-point binding (bidentate coordination) to the chiral Lewis acid.
