Copper-catalyzed amination of potassium aryl trifluoroborates using aqueous ammonia

Chemoselective Primary Amination of Aryl Boronic Acids by PIII/PV═O-Catalysis: Synthetic Capture of the Transient Nef Intermediate HNO

A catalytic approach to intercept the transient HNO for a chemoselective primary amination of arylboronic acids is reported. A phosphetane-based catalyst operating within P^III/P^V═O redox cycling is shown to capture HNO, generated in situ by Nef decomposition of 2-nitropropane, to selectively install the primary amino group at aryl C_sp2 centers. The method furnishes versatile primary arylamines from arylboronic acid substrates with the preservation of otherwise reactive functional groups.

High Catalytic Activity of Peptide Nanofibres Decorated with Ni and Cu Nanoparticles for the Synthesis of 5-Substituted 1H-Tetrazoles and N-Arylation of Amines

A rapid development of a new methodology for decarboxylative N-arylation of carboxylic acids and the preparation of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles catalysed by peptide nanofibres decorated with Cu and Ni nanoparticles is presented. Compared with conventional aryl halides, benzoic acids are extremely interesting and environmentally friendly options for the synthesis of secondary aryl amines.

Electrochemical C-H amination: synthesis of aromatic primary amines via N-arylpyridinium ions

We have developed a new method for C-H amination of aromatic compounds based on electrochemical oxidation of aromatic compounds in the presence of pyridine followed by the reaction of the resulting N-arylpyridinium ions with an alkylamine. This new transformation serves as a powerful method for synthesizing aromatic primary amines from aromatic compounds without using metal catalysts and harsh chemical reagents. High chemoselectivity of the present method is demonstrated by C-H amination of aromatic compounds bearing a nitro group to give a key intermediate for the synthesis of VLA-4 antagonist.

Elusive metal-free primary amination of arylboronic acids: synthetic studies and mechanism by density functional theory

Herein, we disclose the first metal-free synthesis of primary aromatic amines from arylboronic acids, a reaction that has eluded synthetic chemists for decades. This remarkable transformation affords structurally diverse primary arylamines in good chemical yields, including a variety of halogenated primary anilines that often cannot be prepared via transition-metal-catalyzed amination. The reaction is operationally simple, requires only a slight excess of aminating agent, proceeds under neutral or basic conditions, and, importantly, can be scaled up to provide multigram quantities of primary anilines. Density functional calculations reveal that the most likely mechanism involves a facile 1,2-aryl migration and that the presence of an ortho nitro group in the aminating agent plays a critical role in lowering the free energy barrier of the 1,2-aryl migration step.
