Abstract
"Homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, in which the central boron atom links to four identical atoms, are a special and important family of boron compounds. During the past decades, they have been extensively employed in inorganic, organic, macromolecular, and materials chemistry. Many of them exhibit a diverse range of outstanding properties, and therefore, the synthesis and application of those compounds have emerged as a hot research topic in modern boron chemistry. This review summarizes and discusses the "homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, which are organized according to the kinds of atoms coordinated to the central boron.

Abstract
Reaction of complex [TpMe2Ir(η4-CH2C(Me)C(Me)C2)] (1) with a series of aromatic ketones at 130 °C renders, by means of a selective ortho-CH activation, Ir(III)-metallacycles 2-5, which display an Ir-H bond. When [TpMe2Ir(C6H5)2N2] (6) is treated with 2-(trifluoromethyl)acetophenone and 2-fluoroacetophenone at 80 °C, the formation of dimeric (7) and trimeric architectures (8) is achieved through the meta- and para-CH activation of the aromatic ketone, respectively. The generation of complexes 2-5 is proposed to occur by the initial formation of Ir(III) η1-ketone adducts as key intermediates, followed by aromatic CH activations and the release of a butadiene ligand. The formation of complexes 7 and 8 involves an assisted process in which a metal center activation of the less sterically hindered C-H bond of the aromatic ketone takes place (releasing a benzene molecule), followed by the coordination of the carbonyl group, which generates the respective dimeric and trimeric structures. Complexes 7 and 8 are efficient catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of ketones and aldehydes using isopropanol as the hydrogen source. All complexes have been fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR, elemental analysis and, in the cases of 7 and 8, X-ray crystallography. Details of the reaction conditions, isolation of the products, and proposals for the pathways of formation of complexes 2-5 and 7-8 are discussed.

Abstract
Several dihydridoborate group 7 metal complexes have been synthesized and their structural aspects have been described from various N,S-, N,N-, and N,O-chelated borate species, such as Na[(H3B)mp] (mp = 2-mercaptopyridyl), Na[(H3B)amt] (amt = 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazolyl), Na[(H3B)hp] (hp = 2-hydroxypyridyl), Na[(H2B)bap] (bap = bis(2-aminopyridyl)), and Na[(H2B)bdap] (bdap = bis(2,6-diaminopyridyl)). Room temperature photolysis of [M2(CO)10] (M = Mn or Re) with these borate species afforded dihydridoborate complexes [(CO)3M(μ-H)2BHL] 1-6 (1, M = Mn, L = mp; 2, M = Re, L = mp; 3, M = Mn, L = amt; 4, M = Mn, L = hp; 5, M = Mn, L = ap; 6, M = Mn, L = dap, ap = 2-aminopyridyl, dap = 2,6-diaminopyridyl). In complexes 1-3, the corresponding (H2BHL) units are coordinated to the metal centers through the (κ3-H,H,S) mode. However, in complexes 4 and 5 (or 6), the connection is via (κ3-H,H,O) and (κ3-H,H,N) modes of coordination, respectively. Complexes 1 and 5 underwent hydroboration reactions with terminal alkynes that yielded trans-hydroborated species [Mn(CO)3(μ-H)2(NC5H4E)B(PhC═CH2)] (7, E = S; 8, E = NH). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been carried out to investigate the electronic structures of these dihydridoborate species as well as the nature of bonding in them.

Abstract
We report synthetic strategies for installing platinum group metals (PGMs: Pd, Rh, Ir, and Pt) on a scorpionate-derived linker (TpmC*) within a metal-organic framework (MOF), both by room-temperature postsynthetic metalation and by direct solvothermal synthesis, with a wide range of metal loadings relevant for fundamental studies and catalysis. In-depth studies for the palladium adduct Pd(II)@Zr-TpmC* by density-functional-theory-assisted extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy reveals that the rigid MOF lattice enforces a close Pd(II)-Napical interaction between the bidentate palladium complex and the third uncoordinated pyrazole arm of the TpmC* ligand (Pd-Napical = 2.501 ± 0.067 Å), an interaction that is wholly avoided in molecular palladium scorpionates.

Abstract
Reaction of [Ir(μ-Cl)(COE)2]2 (COE = cis-cyclooctene) with tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane (MeTpm) affords [IrCl(κ1-N-MeTpm)(COD)] (1) (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene). The formation of 1 implies the transfer dehydrogenation of a COE ligand to give COD and COA (cyclooctane). A mechanistic proposal based on DFT calculations that explains this iridium promoted process has been disclosed. Additionally, reactivity studies have allowed the preparation and characterization, including determination of the molecular structures of a number of iridium complexes with the MeTpm ligand in κ1, κ2 or κ3-N coordination modes. Moreover, the first example of an Ir-cyclooctyl complex featuring hydride and carbonyl ligands, whose solid state structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods, is reported.

Abstract
A series of new bis(σ)borate and agostic complexes of group 7 metals have been synthesized and structurally characterized from various borate ligands, such as trihydrobis(benzothiazol-2-yl)amideborate (Na[(H3 B)bbza]), trihydro(2-aminobenzothiazolyl)borate (Na[(H3 B)abz]), and dihydrobis(2-mercaptopyridyl)borate (Na[(H2 B)mp2 ]) (bbza=bis(benzothiazol-2-yl)amine, abz=2-aminobenzothiazolyl, and mp=2-mercaptopyridyl). Photolysis of [Mn2 (CO)10 ] with Na[(H3 B)bbza] formed bis(σ)borate complex [Mn(CO)3 (μ-H)2 BHNCSC6 H4 (NR)] (1; R=NCSC6 H4 ). Octahedral complex [Re(CO)2 (N3 C2 S2 C12 H8 )2 ] (2) was generated under similar reaction conditions with [Re2 (CO)10 ]. Similarly, when [Mn2 (CO)10 ] was treated with Na[(H3 B)abz], bis(σ)borate complex [Mn(CO)3 (μ-H)2 BH(HN2 CSC6 H4 )] (3) and the agostic complex [Mn(CO)3 (μ-H)BH(HN2 CSC6 H4 )2 ] (4) were formed. To probe the potential formation of agostic complexes of the heavier group 7 metals, we carried out the photolysis of [M2 (CO)10 ] with Na[(H2 B)mp2 ] and found that [M(CO)3 (μ-H)BH(C5 H4 NS)2 ] (5: M=Re; 6: M=Mn) was formed in moderate yield. Complexes 1 and 3 feature a (κ3 -H,H,N) coordination mode, whereas 4, 5, and 6 display both (κ3 -H,N,N) and (κ3 -H,S,S) modes of the corresponding ligands. To investigate the lability of the CO ligands of 1 and 3, we treated the complexes with phosphine ligands that generated novel bis(σ)borate complexes [Mn(μ-H)2 (BHNCSC6 H4 )(NR)(CO)2 PL2 L'] (R=NCSC6 H4 ; 7 a: L=L'=Ph; 7 b: L=Ph, L'=Me) and [Mn(μ-H)2 BHN(NCSC6 H4 )R(CO)2 PL2 L'] (R=NCSC6 H4 ; 8 a: L=L'=Ph; 8 b: L=Ph, L'=Me). Complexes 7 and 8 are structural isomers with different coordination modes of the bbza ligand. In addition, DFT calculations were performed to shed some light on the bonding and electronic structures of these complexes.

Abstract
The Ir(i) complexes [TpMe2Ir(η4-1,4-diene)] 2b and 2c react thermally with a variety of aromatic aldehydes, 3a-e, to generate the metallabicyclic compounds 4e-k and the Fischer-type carbenes 5a-b in moderate yields. These reactions are proposed to take place with the initial formation of η1-aldehyde adducts as key intermediates. The formation of the metallabicyclic compounds 4e-k involves a formal decarboxylation process at the exo-2-oxazolidinone diene and an ortho metallation of the aromatic ring. The generation of the Fischer-type carbenes 5a-b is the result of a series of metal-based rearranged intermediates with no decarboxylation observed. Treatment of the η4-diene complex 2b with a variety of Lewis bases induces a change in the binding mode of the diene ligand from η4:π2 to η2:σ2 to form the Ir(iii) derivatives 6b-d of composition TpMe2Ir-(η4:π2-1,4-diene)(L) (L = CO, MeCN, and C5H5N). A study of reactions of complex 2b with either mono- or poly-deuterated aldehydes was performed to understand the mechanisms of such processes. The results of these studies were used to determine plausible formation mechanisms of the metallabicyclic compounds 4e-4k and Fischer-type carbenes 5a-b compound series. These mechanisms were corroborated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the free energy profiles.

Abstract
When Cp*Rh(C(2)H(4))(2)H(+) (2) is exposed to C(2)H(4) in the gas phase, inside the cell of an FT-ICR mass spectrometer, the most notable feature is the lack of any bimolecular reactivity. Collisional activation of 2 leads to ethylene loss and formation of Cp*Rh(C(2)H(4)-mu-H)(+) (3). In contrast to the reactivity of 2 in solution, ethylene dimerisation is negligible in the gas phase. Coordinatively unsaturated 3, rather than 2, is the major species in which reactivity is observed to occur. Compound 3 reacts with ethylene in three parallel processes: (a) Slow addition of ethylene to give 2; (b) rapid, intermolecular hydrogen atom exchange (monitored in separate reactions with free C(2)D(4) to give 3-d(1-5)); (c) ligand substitution of ethylene in 3. DFT calculations reproduce these observations, showing low barriers for hydrogen scrambling, high barrier to ligand loss in 2, and even higher barriers to elimination of either H(2) or ethane. Mechanistic models for the elimination and scrambling processes are discussed.
