Abstract
Monitorable AIE polymers with a bioactive pattern are employed in advanced biomedical applications such as functional coatings, theranostic probes, and implants. After the global COVID-19 pandemic, interest in developing surfaces with superior antimicrobial, antiproliferative, and antiviral activities dramatically increased. Many formulations for biocide surfaces are based on hybrid organic/inorganic materials. Palladium (II) complexes display relevant activity against common bacteria, even higher when compared to their uncoordinated ligands. This article reports the design and synthesis of two series of orthopalladated polymers obtained by grafting a cyclopalladated fragment on two different O, N chelating Schiff base polymers. Different grafting percentages were examined and compared for each organic polymer. The fluorescence emission in the solid state was explored on organic matrixes and grafted polymers. DFT analysis provided a rationale for the role of the coordination core. The antibacterial response of the two series of hybrid polymers was tested against the total coliform group of untreated urban wastewater, revealing excellent inactivation ability.

Abstract
Advanced chromophoric tools, besides being biologically active, need to meet the expectations of the technological demands including stability, colour retention, and proper solubility for their target. Many coordination compounds of conjugated ligands are antibacterial dyes, able to combine a strong dyeing performance with a useful biological activity. Specifically, palladium (II) complexes of Schiff base ligands are known for their relevant activity against common bacteria. In this article, we report the synthesis and comprehensive experimental and theoretical characterization of two novel Pd(II) chromophore complexes obtained from a cyclopalladated Schiff base as two different chelating azo dyes. The antibacterial response of these two novel complexes was tested against the ubiquitous Escherichia coli bacterium in an aqueous medium and revealed a noteworthy antimicrobial activity, higher than when compared with their uncoordinated biologically active ligands.

Abstract
In the title Schiff base compound, C26H22N4O2, the hydroxy group forms a intramolecular hydrogen bond to the imine N atom and generates anS(6) ring motif. The conformation about the C=N and N=N bonds isE. The 4-methoxybenzene ring and thep-phenylenediamine ring are inclined to the phenol ring by 11.61 (17) and 46.04 (17)°, respectively. The terminalN-phenyl ring is inclined to thep-phenylenediamine ring by 50.72 (17)°. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds, involving thep-phenylenediamine ring and the phenol ring, forming chains along [001]. The chains are linked by a number of C—H...π interactions, forming slabs propagating parallel to (100).

Abstract
The Schiff base compound, N,N'-(2,2-dimetylpropane)-bis(dihydroxylacetophenone) (NDHA) is synthesized through the condensation of 2-hydroxylacetophenone and 2,2-dimethyl 1,3-amino propane in methanol at ambient temperature. The yellow crystalline precipitate is used for X-ray single-crystal determination and measuring Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV-visible, (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectra. Electronic structure calculations at the B3LYP, PBEPBE and PW91PW91 levels of theory are performed to optimize the molecular geometry and to calculate the FTIR, (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectra of the compound. Time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) method is used to calculate the UV-visible spectrum of NDHA. Vibrational frequencies are determined experimentally and compared with those obtained theoretically. Vibrational assignments and analysis of the fundamental modes of the compound are also performed. All theoretical methods can well reproduce the structure of the compound. The (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR chemical shifts calculated by all DFT methods are consistent with the experimental data. However, the NMR shielding tensors computed at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory are in better agreement with experimental (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectra. The electronic absorption spectrum calculated at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level by using TD-DFT method is in accordance with the observed UV-visible spectrum of NDHA. In addition, some quantum descriptors of the molecule are calculated and conformational analysis is performed and the results were compared with the crystallographic data.

Abstract
A novel Schiff base ligand 5-(phenylazo)-N-(2-amino pyridine) salicyliden is prepared through the condensation of 5-(phenylazo) salicylaldehyde and 2-amino pyridine in methanol at room temperature. The orange crystalline precipitate is used for X-ray crystallography and measuring Fourier transform (FTIR), 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP, MPWB1K and B3PW91 levels of theory is used to optimize the geometry and calculate the FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of the compound. The vibrational frequencies determined experimentally are compared with those obtained theoretically and a vibrational assignment and analysis of the fundamental modes of the compound is performed. We found that the MPWB1K method predicts low vibrational frequencies better than the commonly used B3LYP method. Although the B3PW91 method overestimates the 1H NMR chemical shifts, the values computed at the B3LYP level of theory are in accordance with experimental 1H NMR spectrum. However, both B3LYP and B3PW91 methods tend to overestimate 13C NMR chemical shifts. In addition, a few quantum descriptors of the molecule are calculated and conformational analysis is performed and the result was compared with crystallographic data.

Abstract
N-(4-nitrobenzylidene)-o-fluoroamine (1) and N-(3-nitrobenzylidene)-p-fluoroamine (2) have been synthesized. The crystal structures of both compounds have been defined by X-ray diffraction analysis, and characterized by FT-IR and UV-visible instrumental methods. The recorded spectrum by UV-visible spectroscopy for the investigated compounds show good transparency in the visible region, and have solvatochromic behavior in the UV region, implying nonzero microscopic first hyperpolarizability. We also report ab initio quantum chemical calculations of the electric dipole moments (mu) and the first hyperpolarizabilities (beta) of the studied compounds. Our results suggest that the investigated ligands might have microscopic nonlinear optical (NLO) behavior with nonzero values.
