Abstract
New tranexamic acid (TXA) complexes of ferric(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zirconium(IV) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis (CHN), conductimetric (Λ), magnetic susceptibility investigations (μeff), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), ultraviolet visible (UV-vis.), optical band gap energy (Eg) and thermal studies (TG/DTG and DTA). TXA complexes were established in 1 : 2 (metal: ligand) stoichiometric ratio according to CHN data. Based on FT-IR and 1H-NMR data the disappeared of the carboxylic proton supported the deprotonating of TXA and linked to metal ions via the carboxylate group's oxygen atom as a bidentate ligand. UV-visible spectra and magnetic moment demonstrated that all chelates have geometric octahedral structures. Eg values indicated that our complexes are more electro conductive. DTA revealed presence of water molecules in inner and outer spheres of the complexes. DTA results showed that endothermic and exothermic peaks were identified in the degradation mechanisms. The ligand and metal complexes were investigated for their antimicrobial and herbicidal efficacy. The Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes showed antimicrobial activity against some tested species. The obtained results showed a promising herbicidal effect of TXA ligand and its metal complexes particularly copper and zirconium against the three tested plants.

Abstract
Novel bis Schiff base ligand, [N1,N3-bis(furan-2-ylmethylene)propane-1,3-diamine], was prepared by the condensation of furan-2-carboxaldehyde with propane-1,3-diamine. Its conformational changes on complexation with transition metal ions [Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Mn(II), Cd(II), Zn(II) and Fe(III)] have been studied on the basis of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, spectral (infrared, (1)H NMR, electronic), magnetic and thermogravimetric studies. The conductance data of the complexes revealed their electrolytic nature suggesting them as 1:2 (for bivalent metal ions) and 1:3 (for Fe(III) ion) electrolytes. The complexes were found to have octahedral geometry based on magnetic moment and solid reflectance measurements. Thermal analysis data revealed the decomposition of the complexes in successive steps with the removal of anions, coordinated water and bis Schiff base ligand. The thermodynamic parameters were calculated using Coats-Redfern equation. The Anticancer screening studies were performed on human colorectal cancer (HCT), hepatic cancer (HepG2) and breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines. The antimicrobial activity of all the compounds was studied against Gram negative (Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris) and Gram positive (Bacillus vulgaris and Staphylococcus pyogones) bacteria. It was observed that the coordination of metal ion has a pronounced effect on the microbial activities of the bis Schiff base ligand. All the metal complexes have shown higher antimicrobial effect than the free bis Schiff base ligand.

Abstract
A series of complexes of the type [M(L)(dppe)X2]; where M=Zn(II) or Cd(II); L=4-(2'-thiazolylazo)chlorobenzene (L1), 4-(2'-thiazolylazo)bromobenzene (L2) and 4-(2'-thiazolylazo) iodobenzene (L3); dppe=1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane; X=N3- or NCS- have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their microanalysis, molar conductance, thermal, IR, UV-vis and 1H NMR spectral studies. IR spectra show that the ligand L is coordinated to the metal atom in bidentate manner via azo nitrogen and thiazole nitrogen. An octahedral structure is proposed for all the complexes. The thermal behavior of the complexes revealed that the thiocyanato complexes are thermally more stable than the azido complexes. All the complexes exhibit blue-green emission with high quantum yield as the result of the fluorescence from the intraligand emission excited state.

Abstract
Seven transition metal complexes of benzimidazole ligand (HL) are reported and characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance and thermal analyses (TGA and DTA). From the obtained data, the complexes were proposed to have the general formulae [MX(2)(HL)(H(2)O)].yH(2)O, where M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cr(III); X=Cl(-), SO(4)(2-) and y=0-4. The molar conductance data revealed that all the metal chelates were non-electrolytes. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it was found that the geometrical structure of these complexes is octahedral. The thermal behaviour of these chelates showed that the hydrated complexes loss water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the anions and ligand molecules in the subsequent steps. Fungicidal activity of the prepared complexes and free ligand was evaluated against three soil borne fungi. Data obtained showed the higher biological activity of the prepared complexes than the parent Schiff base ligand. Formulation of the most potent complex was carried out in the form of 25% WP. Fungicidal activity of the new formulation was evaluated and compared with the standard fungicide Pencycuron (Monceren 25% WP). In most cases, the new formulation possessed higher fungicidal activity than the standard fungicide under the laboratory conditions.

Abstract
Ten coordination compounds based on a sulfonated monoazo dye, formulated as M(H(2)O)(2)(4,4'-abs)(2) (M = Mn , Co , Cu , Zn , Cd and Pb ; 4,4'-abs = 4-aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic anion), Ag(4,4'-abs) (), [Ln(H(2)O)(phen)(2)(4,4'-abs)(3)].3H(2)O (Ln = Gd , Tb , and Ho ; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), as well as the parent ligand L [(4,4'-Habs)(2).4H(2)O] and precursor NaL.HL [Na(4,4'-abs)(4,4'-Habs)] were successfully isolated. Structural analyses revealed that the structures of compounds, and vary according to the coordination geometries of the metal ions, and vary from double-strand chain structures () to a 3-D pillared-layer framework to mononuclear complexes. The double-strand chain structures of are isostructural, and are built on octahedral metal centers and double bridging 4,4'-abs ligands coordinating via terminal N- and O-donors. The silver-containing compound displays a pillared-layer structure constructed from 4.8(2) silver sulfonate nets pillared by the linear backbones of 4,4'-abs ligands. Compounds , which are also isostructural, possess mononuclear structures consisting of a metal cation, three 4,4'-abs anions, two auxiliary phen ligands, one aqua ligand and three non-coordinated water molecules. Evidence on two series of isostructural compounds indicates that structures of d- and f-block metal derivatives are dominated by the coordination mode of the ligands. The surface chemistry of compound has been investigated based on the LBL (layer-by-layer) technique. The as-synthesized multilayer films with different composite components exhibit different surface behaviours.

Abstract
Metal complexes of Schiff base derived from condensation of o-vanilin (3-methoxysalicylaldehyde) and sulfametrole [N(1)-(4-methoxy-1,2,5-thiadiazole-3-yl)sulfanilamide] (H2L) are reported and characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, mass spectra, UV-vis and thermal analysis (TGA). From the elemental analyses data, the complexes were proposed to have the general formulae [M2X3(HL)(H2O)5].yH2O (where M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II), X=Cl, y=0-3); [Fe2Cl5(HL)(H2O)3].2H2O; [(FeSO4)2(H2L)(H2O)4] and [(UO2)2(NO3)3(HL)(H2O)].2H2O. The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal chelates were non-electrolytes. The IR spectra show that, H2L is coordinated to the metal ions in a tetradentate manner with ON and NO donor sites of the azomethine-N, phenolic-OH, enolic sulphonamide-OH and thiadiazole-N. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it is found that the geometrical structures of these complexes are octahedral. The thermal behaviour of these chelates shows that the hydrated complexes losses water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the anions and ligand molecules in the subsequent steps. The activation thermodynamic parameters, such as, E*, DeltaH*, DeltaS* and DeltaG* are calculated from the DrTG curves using Coats-Redfern method. The synthesized ligand, in comparison to their metal complexes also were screened for their antibacterial activity against bacterial species, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Bacillus subtillus, Staphylococcus aureus and Fungi (Aspergillus terreus and Aspergillus flavus). The activity data show that the metal complexes to be more potent/antimicrobial than the parent Shciff base ligand against one or more microbial species.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pd(II) and UO2(II) chelates of 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthalenol (TAN) were reported. The dissociation constants of the ligand and the stability constants of the metal complexes were calculated pH-metrically at 25 degrees C and 0.1 M ionic strength. The solid complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, molar conductance, IR, magnetic and diffuse reflectance spectra. The complexes were found to have the formulae [M(L)2] for M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II); [M(L)X].nH2O for M = Cu(II) (X = AcO, n = 3), Pd(II) (X = Cl, n = 0) and UO2(II) (X = NO3, n = 0), and [Fe(L)Cl2(H2O)].2H2O. The molar conductance data reveal that the chelates are non-electrolytes. IR spectra show that the ligand is coordinated to the metal ions in a terdentate manner with ONN donor sites of the naphthyl OH, azo N and thiazole N. An octahedral structure is proposed for Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and UO2(II) complexes and a square planar structure for Cu(II) and Pd(II) complexes. The thermal behaviour of these chelates shows that water molecules (coordinated and hydrated) and anions are removed in two successive steps followed immediately by decomposition of the ligand molecule in the subsequent steps. The relative thermal stability of the chelates is evaluated. The final decomposition products are found to be the corresponding metal oxides. The thermodynamic activation parameters, such as E*, delta H*, delta S* and delta G* are calculated from the TG curves.

Abstract
The ternary piroxicam (Pir; 4-hydroxy-2-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxamide 1,1-dioxide) complexes of Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with various amino acids (AA) such as glycine (Gly) or DL-phenylalanine (PhA) were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, IR, UV-Vis, magnetic moment, diffuse reflectance and X-ray powder diffraction. The UV-Vis spectra of Pir and the effect of metal chelation on the different interligand transitions are discussed in detailed manner. IR and UV-Vis spectra confirm that Pir behaves as a neutral bidentate ligand coordinated to the metal ions via the pyridine-N and carbonyl group of the amide moiety. Gly molecule acted as a uninegatively monodentate ligand and coordinate to the metal ions through its carboxylic group, in addition PhA acted as a uninegatively bidentate ligand and coordinate to the metal ions through its carboxylic and amino groups. All the chelates have octahedral geometrical structures while Cu(II)- and Zn(II)-ternary chelates with PhA have square planar geometrical structures. The molar conductance data reveal that most of these chelates are non electrolytes, while Fe(III)-Pir-Gly, Co(II)-, Ni(II)-, Cu(II)- and Zn(II)-Pir-PhA chelates were 1:1 electrolytes. X-ray powder diffraction is used as a new tool to estimate the crystallinity of chelates as well as to elucidate their geometrical structures.
