Abstract
On the way to copper(I) iodide coordination polymers with specific luminescent properties, the in situ reduction of Cu(II) in the presence of KI and bidentate N-heteroatomic ligand, either pyrazine (pyz) or 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy), resulted in one two-dimensional and two three-dimensional new coordination networks. Starting from Cu(NO3)2·3H2O in the presence of pyz, successive precipitation of known yellow [(CuII)2(pyz)]n, new orange [CuII(pyz)]n, and new dark blue {[CuI(pyz)2]·I5}n polymeric solids was observed. Starting from the same salt in the presence of bpy resulted in the successive precipitation of known yellow [(CuII)2(bpy)]n and new brown {[CuII(NO3)(bpy)2]·I3·(dmf·H2O)}n coordination polymers. By using either Cu(CH3COO)2·H2O or Cu(BF4)2 as starting materials, both known forms, yellow [(CuII)2(bpy)]n and orange [CuII(bpy)]n, precipitated successively. The new solids were characterized by IR spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. [CuII(pyz)]n represents the missing member in the row of two-dimensional coordination networks with general formula [CuIX(pyz)]n (X = Cl, Br, I). Its steady state and time-resolved characterization together with DFT and TDDFT calculations revealed that the emission at room temperature is mainly delayed fluorescence originating from mixed singlet metal-to-ligand charge transfer and halide-to-ligand charge transfer states, while that at 77 K is phosphorescence, associated with the small singlet-triplet energy differences (ΔE = 70 meV).

Abstract
The reaction of the aqueous/acetonitrile solutions of K3[Cu(CN)4] and 3,5-dichloropyridine (3,5-dClpy), in the presence of Me3SnCl affords a new metal-organic framework (MOF), (3)∞[(CuCN)2·(3,5-dClpy)2], 1. The structure of the MOF 1 was characterized by IR, UV-visible, TGA and X-ray single crystal analysis. The structure of MOF 1 consists of CuCN building blocks which are connected by CN group forming 1D-zig-zag chains. Each chain is bridged to another chain by hydrogen bonding organizing 2D-sheets. The structure of 1 is further close packed by hydrogen bonds, π-π stacking and lp-π interactions creating 3D-network. The emission spectra and the thermodynamic parameters from TGA of the MOF 1 were discussed. The MOF 1 was used as heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidative discoloration of methylene blue dye (MB) by dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The in vitro cytotoxic activity has been evaluated against the human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7. The cytotoxic effect of the MOF 1 on the viability of MCF-7 cells was determined by MTT assay.

Abstract
Three novel Re(IV) mononuclear complexes of formulae NBu4[ReC15(pyz)] (1), NH2Me2[ReCl5(pyz)] (2) and NH4[ReCl5(pyz)].0.75H2O (3), (pyz being pyrazine; NBu4+ = tetra-n-butylammonium cation, NH2Me2+ = dimethylammonium cation and NH4+ = ammonium cation), were synthesized by ligand substitution reaction from [ReCl6]2- anion and pyrazine in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). In addition, two new heterobimetallic compounds, the salt namely [ReCl5(pyz)]2[Ni(cyclam)](4) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and the heterotrinuclear [{ReCl5(mu-pyz)}2Cu(DMF)4] (5) complex, were prepared by using as precursor 1 and 3, respectively. Compounds 1-5 were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1-3 are made up of discrete [ReCl5(pyz)]- anions and NBu4 (1), NH2Me2+ (2) and NH4+ (3) cations. [ReCl5(pyz)]- unit interacts toward Ni(II) (4) and Cu(II) (5) metal ions through different modes. In 4 two [ReCl5(pyz)]- anions weakly interact with a [Ni(cyclam)]2+ cation through chloro atoms, while compound 5 is a heterotrinuclear pyrazine-bridged Re(IV)2Cu(II) complex made up of [ReCl5(pyz)]- anions and [Cu(DMF)4]2+ cations. The magnetic properties of 1-5 were investigated in the temperature range 1.9-300 K. The magnetic behaviour of 1 is that of a magnetically diluted Re(IV) complex with a large value of zero-field splitting of the ground state (/2D/ is ca. 18.8(1) cm(-1)), whereas those of 2 and 3 are typical of antiferromagnetically coupled systems exhibiting susceptibility maxima at 10 (2) and 12 K (3). Compound 4 shows antiferromagnetic interactions between Re(IV) metal ions, Ni(II) being diamagnetic (because of its square-planar geometry), while 5 exhibits a ferromagnetic coupling between Re(IV) and Cu(II) metal ions across the pyrazine bridges with a J(ReCu), value of +11.8(1) cm(-1).

Abstract
Metal-organic networks of CuCN with diimines (L) = pyrazine (Pyz), 2-aminopyrazine (PyzNH(2)), quinoxaline (Qox), phenazine (Phz), 4,4'-bipyridyl (Bpy), pyrimidine (Pym), 2-aminopyrimidine (PymNH(2)), 2,4-diaminopyrimidine (Pym(NH(2))(2)), 2,4,6-triaminopyrimidine (Pym(NH(2))(3)), quinazoline (Qnz), pyridazine (Pdz), and phthalazine (Ptz) were studied. Open reflux reactions produced complexes (CuCN)(2)(L) for L = Qox, Phz, Bpy, PymNH(2), Pym(NH(2))(2), Qnz, and Pdz and (CuCN)(3)(L) complexes for L = Pyz, PyzNH(2), Qox, Bpy, Pym(NH(2))(3), and Pdz. Also produced were (CuCN)(3)(Pyz)(2), (CuCN)(PyzNH(2)), (CuCN)7(Pym)(2), (CuCN)(5)(Qnz)(2) and (CuCN)(5)(Ptz)(2). X-ray structures are presented for (CuCN)(2)(Pdz), (CuCN)(2)(PymNH(2)), and (CuCN)(7)(Pym)(2). Hydrothermal reactions yielded additional X-ray structures of (CuCN)(2)(PyzNH(2)), (CuCN)(3)(Pym(NH(2))(2)), (CuCN)(4)(Qnz), a second (CuCN)(2)(Pdz) phase, (CuCN)(5)(Pdz)2, (CuCN)(2)(Ptz), and (CuCN)(7)(Ptz)2. Structural trends, including cuprophilic interactions and cyano-bridged Cu(2)(CN)(2) dimer formation, are discussed. Particularly short Cu...Cu interactions are noted for the novel 4- and 5-coordinate Cu(2)(CN)(2) dimers. Thermal analyses show that most of the complexes decompose with loss of L around 160-180 degrees C. Luminescence behavior is relatively weak in the products.

Abstract
Three novel Re(iv) compounds, the mononuclear complex Bu(4)N[ReBr(5)(Hpyzc)] (1) and the heterobimetallic complexes [ReBr(5)(mu-pyzc)M(dmphen)(2)].2CH(3)CN [M = Co (2), Ni (3)] (Hpyzc = 2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid, dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized and their crystal structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 consists of [ReBr(5)(Hpyzc)](-) complex anions and tetrabutylammonium cations, Bu(4)N(+). The Re(iv) is surrounded by five bromide anions and a N-donor Hpyzc monodentate ligand, in a distorted octahedral environment. The structures of 2 and 3 consist of dinuclear units [ReBr(5)(mu-pyzc)M(dmphen)(2)], with the metal ions linked by a pyzc bridge ligand, being bidentate toward M(II) and monodentate toward Re(IV). The environment of Re(IV) is the same as in 1, whereas M(II) is six-coordinate, being surrounded by four nitrogen atoms of two bidentate dmphen ligands and one oxygen atom and one nitrogen atom of the pyzc anion. The magnetic properties of 1-3 were investigated in the temperature range 2.0-300 K. 1 shows the expected magnetic behavior for a mononuclear Re(IV) complex with a weak intermolecular antiferromagnetic coupling at low temperatures. The bimetallic complexes exhibit an intramolecular ferromagnetic coupling between Re(IV) and the M(II) ion (Co, Ni).

Abstract
Crystals of copper halide and pseudohalide compounds with pyrazine are synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The title compound, [Cu3Cl2CNPz] (1) (Pz = pyrazine), is a new copper compound exhibiting an unusual -(Cu3Cl2)- polymeric stair structural motif and three-coordinate cyanide. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m, with a = 3.6530(7) A, b = 17.160(3) A, c = 6.9800(14) A, beta = 90.58(3) degrees, and Z = 2. In addition, the series of complexes [Cu2X2Pz] for X = Cl (2), Br (3), and I (4) are also crystallized under hydrothermal conditions. The inorganic polymer [Cu2Br2Pz] (3) belongs to the triclinic space group P1, with a = 6.9671(14) A, b = 7.849(2) A, c = 8.099(2) A, alpha = 71.69(3) degrees, beta = 70.71(3) degrees, gamma = 85.43(3) degrees, and Z = 2. The structure of 3, is similar to the recently reported structure for [Cu2Cl2Pz] (2) (Kawata, S.; Kitagawa, S.; Kumagai, H.; Iwabuchi, S.; Katada, M. Inorg. Chim. Acta 1998, 267, 143). The third member of the series, [Cu2I2Pz], is found to be isostructural on the basis of X-ray powder diffraction results. The lattice parameters are refined from indexed reflections to a = 7.115(10) A, b = 8.321(19) A, c = 8.378(17) A, alpha = 71.1(3) degrees, beta = 67.3(1) degrees, and gamma = 83.0(2) degrees. Electronic spectra show that compounds 1-4 have optical band gaps in the range 2.2-2.4 eV. The infrared and Raman spectra as well as the thermal properties of all compounds are presented.
