Abstract
Tin(II) sulfide (SnS2) has emerged as a promising candidate for visible light photocatalytic materials. As a member of the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) family, SnS2 features a band gap of approximately 2.20 eV and a layered structure, rendering it suitable for visible light activation with a high specific surface area. However, the application of SnS2 as a visible light photocatalyst still requires improvement, particularly in addressing the high recombination of electrons and holes, as well as the poor selectivity inherent in its perfect crystal structure. Therefore, ongoing research focuses on strategies to enhance the photocatalytic performance of SnS2. In this comprehensive review, we analyze recent advances and promising strategies for improving the photocatalytic performance of SnS2. Various successful approaches have been reported, including controlling the reactive facets of SnS2, inducing defects in the crystal structure, manipulating morphologies, depositing noble metals, and forming heterostructures. We provide a detailed understanding of these phenomena and the preparation techniques involved, as well as future considerations for exploring new science in SnS2 photocatalysis and optimizing performance.

Activation of chloride by oxygen vacancies-enriched TiO 2 photoanode for efficient photoelectrochemical treatment of persistent organic pollutants and simultaneous H 2 generation. Abstract
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) activation of chloride ions (Cl-) to degrade persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is a promising strategy for the treatment of industrial saline organic wastewater. However, the wide application of this technology is greatly restricted due to the general photoanode activation of Cl- with poor capability, the propensity to produce toxic by-products chlorates, and the narrow pH range. Herein, oxygen vacancies-enriched titanium dioxide (Ov-TiO2) photoanode is explored to strongly activate Cl- to drive the deep mineralization of POPs wastewater in a wide pH range (2-12) with simultaneous production of H2. More importantly, nearly no toxic by-product of chlorates was produced during such PEC-Cl system. The degradation efficiency of 4-CP and H2 generation rate by Ov-TiO2 were 99.9% within 60 min and 198.2 μmol h-1 cm-2, respectively, which are far superior to that on the TiO2 (33.1% within 60 min, 27.5 μmol h-1 cm-2) working electrode. DFT calculation and capture experiments revealed that Ov-TiO2 with abundant oxygen vacancies is conducive to the activation of Cl- to produce more reactive chlorine species, evidenced by its high production of free chlorine (48.7 mg L-1 vs 7.5 mg L-1 of TiO2). The as-designed PEC-Cl system in this work is expected to realize the purification of industrial saline organic wastewater coupling with green energy H2 evolution.

Abstract
The activation of carbon atoms in biochar is an important approach for realizing the reuse of discarded woody biomass resources. In this work, a strategy for the construction of carbon-based catalysts was proposed with Magnoliaceae root biomass as a carbon source, doped by SnS2 and further decorated with heteropoly acid. The introduction of SnS2 can activate the carbon atom and destroy the electronic inertness of the disordered biochar with 002 planes. In addition, the synergy between the Keggin unit of phosphotungstic acid and biochar/SnS2 can suppress recombination of e--h+ carriers. The adsorption and photocatalysis experiments results showed that the efficiency of removing As(III) by biochar/SnS2/phosphotungstic acid (biochar/SnS2/PTA) systems was 1.5 times that of biochar/SnS2 systems, and the concentration of total arsenic in the biochar/SnS2/PTA composite system gradually decreased during the photocatalysis process. The formation of As-POMs can simultaneously realize As(III) photooxidation and As(V) coprecipitation. The phase transfer of arsenic by As-POMs could significantly increase the As adsorption capacity. Specifically, the composites achieved the conversion of S atoms at the interface of biochar into SO4•- radicals to enhance the As(III) photooxidation performance.

Abstract
Although photocatalysis is frequently employed to remove various pollutants in water, it still suffers from low efficiency due to the rapid recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. In this study, a red phosphorus/tin disulfide (RP/SnS2) composite photocatalyst is fabricated by loading nano-sized RP on flower-like SnS2 films with a facile hydrothermal method. It is noteworthy that the 2D heterojunction formed between SnS2 and RP provided channels for the rapid transfer of photon-generated carriers and their effective separation. Furthermore, the separated electrons can react with absorbed O2 for the generation of superoxide radicals (˙O2 -), thereby impacting the photocatalytic degradation oxidation reaction. The application of photocatalytic synchronous removal of Cr(vi) and RhB over RP/SnS2 was implemented first. Compared with pristine SnS2, the photocatalytic degradation activity of Cr(vi) and RhB over the RP/SnS2 composite was significantly enhanced and the kinetic rate constant reached 8.2, which is 10.8 times that of pristine SnS2. Moreover, the hybrid photocatalysts exhibited prominent reusability and stability. Therefore, a photocatalytic degradation mechanism and pathway of carriers are proposed in the study. Furthermore, it is considered that the present study is a promising method in the treatment of wastewater by photocatalysis.
