Abstract
Based on the mixed ligand strategy, two new isostructural CdII coordination polymers: {[Cd3(tcpa)2(bima)(DMF)]‧3DMF} (CP 1), {[Cd3(tcpa)2(bmima)(DMF)]‧3DMF} (CP 2) were synthesized by combining two flexible anthracene-based and a triphenylamine-based ligands with large π-electron-rich structure using a solvothermal method (H3tcpa = tris(4-carboxyphenyl)amine; bima = 9,10-bis(1H-imidazole-1-yl)methyl)anthracene and bmima = 9,10-bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)anthracene). CP 1 and CP 2 show an unreported new 3D (3,14)-c net structure with the {430·648·813}{43}4 topology. Both CPs could detect Cr2O72-, Nitroaromatic explosives 2,4,6-Trinitrophenol (TNP) and 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) through rapid fluorescence quenching response with high quenching efficiency Ksv and low LOD with 0.19 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.54 μM (TNP), 0.76 μM (DNP) for CP 1 and 0.28 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.23 μM (TNP), 0.65 μM (DNP) for CP 2, respectively. In addition, the mechanism of quenching Cr2O72-, TNP and DNP by CPs is proposed through experimental research and theoretical simulation. The quenching of Cr2O72- by CPs is mainly competitive absorption (CA), while the quenching of TNP/DNP is achieved through the coexistence of competitive absorption CA, photo induced electron transfer (PET) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). Moreover, we have been developed a portable smartphone-assisted on-site detection platform, which can perform semi-quantitative analysis of Cr2O72- acconding to fluorescence color changes. This work constructed a ratiometric sensing platform for quickly and conveniently detection of Cr2O72-, TNP and DNP pollutants.

Abstract
A rhodamine based chemoprobe BESN was engineered and employed as a selective ''OFF-ON'' chromo-fluorogenic sensor for Al3+ in H2O:MeOH (1:9, v:v). Notable changes in the absorption and emission spectra of BESN were clearly detectable upon the addition of Al3+. Sensitivity and binding mechanism studies demonstrated a good sensing performance of BESN with nanomolar detection limit (130 nM), and it was found to be highly selective towards interfering metal ions. Besides, the binding constant between BESN and Al3+ was found to be 3.19 × 103 M-1. Then, the validation study of BESN for Al3+ was performed based on significant analytical parameters and statistical tests. The binding of Al3+ with BESN (1:1) was probed via infrared, high-resolution mass and emission (Job's plot) spectroscopy measurements. The sensing performance of BESN could make it ideal chemosensor for real applications including vegetable, tuna fish and water samples, also for Smartphone and test-kit applications. The recovery values of the BESN to Al3+ were estimated within a range from 95.13% to 105.30% for water, 94.63% to 109.62% for tuna fish and 94.80% to 109.80% for vegetable samples. Additionally, the BESN has very low cytotoxicity and was triumphantly utilized for the recognition of Al3+ in living-cells.

Abstract
With outstanding detection selectivity and sensitivity characteristics, samarium/europium-metal organic frameworks (Sm/Eu-MOF) is capable of functioning as a versatile light-emitting sensor particularly for detecting acetone, Cr3+, and Pb2+ in aqueous environment. While considering maximum detectable concentrations of 0.85 μM, 0.46 μM, and 1.04 μM, respectively, competitive energy interactions for acetone, absorption of energy for Cr3+, and substitution of ions for Pb2+ are the elucidated mechanisms of detecting these substances by Sm/Eu-MOF. Successful formulation and synthesis of a core-shell structured Sm/Eu-MOF, which has endurance to acid/alkali conditions and hydration/heat-stability, can be accomplished by utilizing Samarium and Europium nitrate ions, terephthalic acid, and 2, 5-furandicarboxylic acid. The recovery rate of acetone, Cr3+, and Pb2+ detection from real samples were 95.0-101.0 %, 99.8-101.0 %, and 99.9-104.0 %, respectively.

Abstract
A new 3D metal-organic framework {[Cd16(tr2btd)10(dcdps)16(H2O)3(EtOH)]∙15DMF}n (MOF 1, tr2btd = 4,7-di(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzo-2,1,3-thiadiazole, H2dcdps = 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid) was obtained and its luminescent properties were studied. MOF 1 exhibited bright blue-green luminescence with a high quantum yield of 74 % and luminescence quenching response to a toxic natural polyphenol gossypol and luminescence enhancement response to some trivalent metal cations (Fe3+, Cr3+, Al3+ and Ga3+). The limit of gossypol detection was 0.20 µM and the determination was not interfered by the components of the cottonseed oil. The limit of detection of gallium(III) was 1.1 µM. It was demonstrated that MOF 1 may be used for distinguishing between the genuine sunflower oil and oil adulterated by crude cottonseed oil through qualitative luminescent and quantitative visual gossypol determination.

Abstract
2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid (DPA) is an exceptional biomarker of notorious anthrax spores. Therefore, the rapid, sensitive, and selective quantitative detection of DPA is extremely significant and urgent. This paper reports a Zn(II) metal-organic framework with the formula of {[Zn6(NDA)6(DPBT)3] 2H2O·3DMF}n (MOF-1), which consists of 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (2,6-NDA), 4,7-di(4-pyridyl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole (DPBT), and Zn(II) ions. Structural analysis indicated that MOF-1 is a three-dimensional (3D) network which crystallized in the monoclinic system with the C2/c space group, revealing high pH, solvent, and thermal stability. Luminescence sensing studies demonstrated that MOF-1 had the potential to be a highly selective, sensitive, and recyclable fluorescence sensor for the identification of DPA. Furthermore, fluorescent test paper was made to detect DPA promptly with color changes. The enhancement mechanism was established by the hydrogen-bonding interaction and photoinduced electron transfer transition between MOF-1 and DPA molecules.

Abstract
Based on the dual response of RhB@UiO-67 (1:6) to Cu2+ and Fe3+, a proportional fluorescent probe with (I392/I581) as the output signal was developed to recognize Cu2+ and Fe3+. Developing highly sensitive and selective trace metal ions probes is crucial to human health and ecological sustainability. In this work, a series of ratio fluorescent probes (RhB@UiO-67) were successfully synthesized using a one-pot method to enable fluorescence sensing of Cu2+ and Fe3+ at low concentrations. The proportional fluorescent probe RhB@UiO-67 (1:6) exhibited simultaneous quenching of Cu2+ and Fe3+, which was found to be of interest. Furthermore, the limits of detection (LODs) for Cu2+ and Fe3+ were determined to be 2.76 μM and 0.76 μM, respectively, for RhB@UiO-67 (1:6). These values were significantly superior to those reported for previous sensors, indicating the probe's effectiveness in detecting Cu2+ and Fe3+ in an ethanol medium. Additionally, RhB@UiO-67 (1:6) demonstrated exceptional immunity and reproducibility towards Cu2+ and Fe3+. The observed fluorescence quenching of Cu2+ and Fe3+ was primarily attributed to the mechanisms of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), photoinduced electron transfer (PET), and competitive absorption (CA). This work establishes a valuable foundation for the future study and utilization of Cu2+ and Fe3+ sensing technologies.

Abstract
The accurate and rapid detection of antibiotics and heavy-metal-based toxic oxo-anions in water media employing coordination polymers (CPs) as luminescent probes has attracted a lot of attention. Three new Cd(II)-based ternary CPs derived from first-presented L ligands, including [Cd(DCTP)(L)(OH)]n (1), [Cd(TBTA)(L)(OH)]n (2), and [Cd(NPHT)(L)(H2O)]n (3) (L = 2-((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)-5,6-dimethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole, H2DCTP = 2,5-dichloroterephthalic acid, H2TBTA = tetrabromoterephthalic acid and H2NPHT = 3-nitrophthalic acid), were successfully assembled and characterized. 1 and 2 show 2D hcb layers, which can be further extended into a 3D supramolecular framework via classic hydrogen bonding interactions. 3 features a 1D double chain that ultimately spreads into a 2D network through weak hydrogen bonding interactions. With the advantages of high stability and excellent luminescent properties, the three CPs display high sensitivity, selectivity, and good anti-interference for the sensing of pefloxacin (PEF) and Cr2O72- ions (LOD values toward PEF: 3.82 × 10-7 mol L-1 for 1, 4.06 × 10-7 mol L-1 for 2, and 1.36 × 10-8 mol L-1 for 3, and toward Cr2O72- ions: 5.97 × 10-7 mol L-1 for 1, 5.87 × 10-7 mol L-1 for 2, and 8.21 × 10-8 mol L-1 for 3). These CPs are the first examples of bifunctional luminescent sensors to detect PEF and Cr2O72- in aqueous solutions. The luminescence quenching mechanisms are explored in detail.

Abstract
Schiff base (HNPD) was achieved by reacting 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with N-phenyl-o-phenylenediamine in enthanol medium. The spectroscopic analyses were done to establish the formation of Schiff base apparently. Further, synthesized Schiff base conjugate was successfully used as a fluorogenic chemosensor to detect aluminium ions (Al3+) with high fluorescence amplification among the other interfering various metal ions. The limit of detection of 0.0248 × 10-6 M and a binding constant of 6.19 × 103 M-1 were obtained by the receptor HNPD for Al3+ detection. A high influence of intramolecular charge transfer kinetics was established to realize the selective responsiveness towards Al3+ ions. Density functional theory approximation formulated the band energy modulation and localization and delocalization of electron density for the HNPD and Al3+ complexation. The developed sensor ultimately inspected on the real soil and water samples and ascertained the practical ability of Al3+ ions detection of HNPD chemosensor.

Two isostructural Zn/Co-MOFs with penetrating structures: multifunctional properties of both luminescence sensing and conversion of CO 2 into cyclic carbonates. Dalton Trans 2024; 53:3654-3665. Abstract
Two new metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely, {[Zn(HL)(bpea)]·DMF}n (Zn-MOF-1) and {[Co(HL)(bpea)]·DMF}n (Co-MOF-2) (H3L = 3-(3,5-dicarboxybenzyloxy)benzoic acid, bpea = 1,2-di(pyridyl)ethane), were obtained by the reaction of H3L and N-containing ligand bpea with Zn(NO3)2·6H2O and Co(NO3)2·6H2O, respectively. The isomorphic Zn-MOF-1 and Co-MOF-2 featured a 3D penetrating framework with different stabilities, luminescence, and catalytic properties. Luminescence measurement indicated that Zn-MOF-1 could be used to detect Al3+ through a turn-on effect with a detection limit of 0.42 μM. The sensing mechanism experiments showed that the enhanced luminescence of Zn-MOF-1 toward Al3+ may be due to the weak interaction between Al3+ and Zn-MOF-1 and the absorbance-caused enhancement (ACE) mechanism. Meanwhile, both Zn-MOF-1 and Co-MOF-2 showed interesting CO2 adsorption properties and could catalyze the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides resulting in 96 and 92% ideal products within 12 hours, respectively. They can be cycled up to 5 times without significant loss of catalytic efficiency.

Abstract
Two new ZnII/CdII luminescent coordination polymers (CPs) based on the V-shaped bis(imidazole) ligand 3,6-bis (1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-9-methyl-9H-carbazole (bbimc) with [1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H2bpdc) have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions: {[Zn(bbimc)(bpdc)]·DMF·2.5H2O} (CP 1), {[Cd(bbimc)(bpdc)]·2DMF} (CP 2). CP 1 and CP 2 both display a uninodal 4-c unimodal sql topology 2D framework with vertex symbols of {44·62}. In addition, the two identical 2D nets of CP 2 were interpenetrated each other to form a 2D + 2D → 3D and generate a 2-fold interpenetrating architecture. Moreover, sensing investigations of CP 1 and CP 2 revealed that both of compounds can be used as a highly sensitive and selective multi-responsive luminescent sensor for sensing Cr2O72-, CrO42- and antibiotics (TC: Tetracycline; CTC: Chlortetracycline) in H2O by exhibiting fluorescence quenching with significant quenching constants (Ksv = 1.369 × 104 M-1 (Cr2O72-), 2.003 × 104 M-1 (CrO42-), 5.343 × 104 M-1 (TC), 8.706 × 104 M-1 (CTC) for CP 1 and 4.452 × 104 M-1 (Cr2O72-), 2.119 × 104 M-1 (CrO42-), 4.175 × 104 M-1 (TC), 1.257 × 105 M-1 (CTC) for CP 2). The detection limit are 0.67 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.48 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.23 μM (TC), 0.14 μM (CTC) for CP 1 and 0.28 μM (Cr2O72-), 0.54 μM (CrO42-), 0.31 μM (TC), 0.098 μM (CTC) for CP 2, respectively. In addition, the probable fluorescence quenching mechanism was studied through experiment and theoretical calculation and the co-existance of competitive absorption (CA) and photoinduced electron transfer (PET) progress contributed to such sensing processes.

Abstract
One 3D Cd-MOF, namely, {[(HDMA)2][Cd3(L)2]·5H2O·2DMF}n (LCU-124, LCU indicates Liaocheng University), was synthesized from an ether-containing ligand 1,3-bis(3,5-dicarboxylphenoxy)benzene (H4L). Its Ln3+-postmodified samples, Eu3+@LCU-124 and Tb3+@LCU-124, were obtained through cation exchange of dimethylamine cation (HDMA) with Eu3+ and Tb3+. The successful entry of rare earth into LCU-124 by cation exchange modification was verified by IR, XRD, XPS, EDS mapping, and luminescence spectra. The proportion of Eu3+/Tb3+ was adjusted during the modification process, leading to fluorescent materials with different emissions. Luminescence measurements indicated that these complexes exhibited interesting multiresponsive sensing activities toward biomarkers urine acid (UA), quinine (QN), and quinidine (QND). First, LCU-124 has a pronounced quenching effect toward UA with the detection limit of 31.01 μM. After modification, the visualization of the detection was improved significantly and the detection limit of Eu3+@LCU-124 was reduced to 0.868 μM. Second, when QN and QND were present in the suspensions of Eu3+@LCU-124 and Tb3+@LCU-124, strong blue light emission peaks occurred, while the characteristic emission of Eu3+/Tb3+ decreased, forming ratiometric fluorescent sensors with the detection limit in the range of 0.199-9.49 μM. The fluorescent probes have high selectivity, excellent sensitivity recycling, and fast response time (less than 1 min). Besides, a simple logic gate circuit and a range of luminescent mixed matrix membranes were designed to provide simple and fast detection of above biomarkers. Our work indicated that modification of Eu3+/Tb3+ could improve the detection ability significantly.

Abstract
Rapid industrialization and agricultural development have resulted in the accumulation of a variety of harmful contaminants in water resources. Thus, various approaches such as adsorption, photocatalytic degradation and methods for sensing water contaminants have been developed to solve the problem of water pollution. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of coordination networks comprising organic-inorganic hybrid porous materials having organic ligands attached to inorganic metal ions/clusters via coordination bonds. MOFs represent an emerging class of materials for application in water remediation owing to their versatile structural and chemical characteristics, such as well-ordered porous structures, large specific surface area, structural diversity, and tunable sites. The present review is focused on recent advances in various MOFs for application in water remediation via the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of water contaminants. The sensing of water pollutants using MOFs via different approaches, such as luminescence, electrochemical, colorimetric, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopic techniques, is also discussed. The high porosity and chemical tunability of MOFs are the main driving forces for their widespread applications, which have huge potential for their commercial use.

Abstract
We successfully synthesized a stable anionic microporous metal-organic framework (MOF) HDU-1 ([Me2NH2]2In2[(TATAB)4(DMF)4](DMF)4(H2O)4) and constructed a fluorescent probe Tb@HDU-1 by an exchange strategy. Because of its suspension distinct fluorescent response of Tb(III) characteristic transition and ligand emission, the Tb@HDU-1 can be used as fluorescent probe for sensing towards Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions. It is surprising that Tb@HDU-1 is used as a ratiometric fluorescent probe for Cu2+ ions while only single peak detection for Fe3+ ions, which describes a particular rare example of a sensor based on Ln-MOFs to distinguish quenching Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions. Hence we designed a molecular logic gate device for making the distinction of Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions more clearly and appropriately. In addition, the different quenching effect between Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions may be ascribed to the differences of competitive absorption and interaction between frameworks and metal ions.

Abstract
Rapid, sensitive and portable analytical methods for on-site detection of tetracycline (TC) in food samples is of critical importance for food safety and public health. In this study, a dual-emission ratio fluorescent probe (Gd0.9@Eu0.1) was prepared and utilized for the detection of tetracycline (TC) by observing the fluorescence color change from blue to red. The detection process exhibits a wide linear range (0-52.0 μM), good selectivity and low detection limit (14 nM). A paper-based probe and a colorimetric card was constructed for the visual detection of TC. Furthermore, a novel and portable detection platform combining smartphone and test strip was exploited for the quantitative and on-site detection of TC in real pork sample. The developed method was validated through intra- (n = 5) and inter-day (n = 2) measurements, as well as comparison with a traditional HPLC method. These statistical result validate the reliability and accuracy of the developed method. This intelligent detection platform represents a promising approach for the rapid, sensitive and visual detection of TC in food samples.

Abstract
In this study, a test strip for fluorometric analysis of iron ion (Fe3+) was constructed based on nitrogen, zinc and copper codoped carbon dots (NZC-CDs) as fluorescence probes. NZC-CDs were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The morphology, size, components, crystal state and optical properties of NZC-CDs were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy techniques, respectively. NZC-CDs exhibited bright blue fluorescence under UV lamp with a quantum yield at 17.76%. The fluorescence of NZC-CDs was quenched by Fe3+possibly due to the static quenching. The possible fluorescence quenching mechanism was also discussed. The quenching fluorescence was linear with the concentration of Fe3+in the range of 2.5-400μM with a low detection limit of 0.5μM. For the convenient detection, the test strips based on filter paper were employed for Fe3+assay. Moreover, the present approach was successfully applied in the determination of Fe3+in real samples including black fungus, duck blood and pork liver. The sensing method had the potential application in more food analysis.

Abstract
Cr3+ is one of the most essential trace elements in living organisms and plays a vital role in human metabolism. However, both deficiency and excess intake of Cr3+ can be harmful to the human body. Therefore, the quantitative determination of Cr3+ is of great significance in the field of life science. Based on this, in this study, a g-CNQDs@p-acetaminophenol fluorescence sensing system was developed for the quantitative detection of Cr3+ in actual complex samples. G-CNQDs were synthesized with sodium citrate and urea as precursors. The fluorescence signal was enhanced by the synergistic effect between p-acetaminophenol (APAP) and g-CNQDs. The fluorescence quenching phenomenon can be produced when Cr3+ is introduced into the fluorescence-enhanced g-CNQDs@p-acetaminophenol system. An "on-off" fluorescence sensing system was constructed based on g-CNQDs@p-acetaminophenol for the quantitative detection of Cr3+. The experimental data showed a wide linear region in the concentration range of 0.64-63.0 μM, and the detection limit was as low as 0.23 μM. The construction of the sensor system broadens the research field for the practical application of Cr3+.

Abstract
A series of bifunctional Ln(III)-based coordination polymers (CPs) {Ln(L)(DMA)2(NO3)}n [Ln(III) = Eu (1), Gd (2), and Dy (3); organic ligand H2L = 2,2'-(1,3,5,7-tetrahydroxyoctahydro-4,8-ethanopyrrolo[3,4-f]isoindole-2,6(1H,3H)-diyl)diacetic acid)] have been successfully synthesized. CPs 1-3 are isostructural and constructed from the dimeric Ln2 unit in which two adjacent LnIII ions are bridged by two μ3-carboxyl oxygens, and the Ln2 dimeric unit is connected by two NO3- ions, four DMA molecules, and four completely protonated L2- ligands forming a 2D layer structure. The magnetic research reveals that CP 2 shows a significant cryogenic magnetocaloric effect (-ΔSm = 22.9 J kg-1 K-1; T = 2.0 K and ΔH = 7.0 T), whereas CP 3 exhibits slow magnetic relaxation property under Hdc = 0 Oe field. Additionally, the luminescence explorations revealed that CP 1 can act as a recyclable luminescent probe for pollutant acetylacetone among various small organic solvent molecules, and the corresponding detection limit is 10-7 mol/L. More importantly, CP 1 also exhibits good catalytic performance in the cycloaddition reaction of CO2 and epoxides or cyanamides under mild conditions. As far as we know, CP 1 represents the first bifunctional lanthanide homogeneous catalyst that can efficiently catalyze the reaction of cyanamides/epoxides with CO2 simultaneously.

Abstract
The reactions of Zn(NO3)2, 3,6-bis(pyridin-3-yl)-9H-carbazole (bpycz), and 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid (H4dhbdc) or 2-bromoterephthalic acid (Br-1,4-H2bdc) under hydro(solvo)thermal conditions yielded corresponding coordination polymers (CPs) {[Zn(H2dhbdc)(bpycz)]•0.5H2O}n (1) and [Zn(Br-1,4-bdc)(bpycz)]•2DMAc•H2O (2), respectively, with high thermal stability approaching 350 °C. CP 1 adopts a ring-and-rod layer structure, which is topologically described as a 4-connected net with the point symbol of 2•65. Two layers are interpenetrated in parallel interlocking mode to form a double 2D → 2D polyrotaxane entanglement with extra-framework void space of 19.6%. CP 2 has a non-interpenetrating ring-and-rod layer structure of 4-connected 2•65 net topology, with extra-framework void space of 16.6%. Thermally activated 1 and 2 revealed CO2 uptakes of 101.1 and 98.6 cm3 g-1, respectively, at P/P0 = 1 and 195 K. X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) patterns confirmed that 1 and 2 both possessed high chemical stability in H2O, CH3OH, acetone, and DMF, and framework stability during gas adsorption-desorption. The H2O suspension of 1 displayed excitation-dependent dual-emissive properties, appearing at 432 nm upon excitation at 300 nm and at 528 nm upon excitation at 365 nm. Of note, 1 was capable of detection of Fe3+, Cr3+, and Al3+ ions in H2O, showing good anti-interference ability, excellent selectivity, and high sensitivity. More interesting, the dual-emissive properties make 1 to be an excellent luminescence chemosensor to screen Fe3+, Cr3+, and Al3+ from a pool of metal ions in H2O upon excitation at 300 nm via luminescence quenching effect and then discriminate Fe3+, Cr3+, and Al3+ upon excitation at 365 nm via luminescence quenching, unaltered, and enhancement responses, respectively. On the other hand, the H2O suspension of 2 demonstrated an excitation-independent emission appearing at around 430 nm, which could be utilized to sensitively detect Fe3+ and Cr3+ ions with good anti-interference ability and excellent selectivity via luminescence quenching effect. Further, 1 and 2 were recyclability and possessed cycling stability. The plausible sensing mechanisms for 1 and 2 toward Fe3+, Cr3+, and Al3+ were also explored in detail.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a unique class of multifunctional hybrid crystals that have been successfully utilized in diverse ranges of applications. However, since MOFs are prone to aqueous degradation, the development of stable luminescent MOF platforms in aqueous media is still a huge challenge. Here, a novel dual-ligand Eu3+/DUT-52-COOH composite is prepared based on the luminescent DUT-52 prototype structure via a dual-ligand strategy and a post-synthetic modification (PSM) method. The functionalized Eu3+/DUT-52-COOH material exhibits dual emission and good photothermal stability in aqueous media. Thus, Eu3+/DUT-52-COOH is developed as a ratiometric luminescent sensor to achieve highly selective and sensitive detection of Cu2+ and Cr2O72- in aqueous solutions and has a low detection limit of 3.43 μM and 25.7 nM, respectively. This work is one of the few cases of detecting Cu2+ and Cr2O72- in aqueous media based on a DUT-52, and the detection signals can be observed by the bare eye without using sophisticated analytical instruments. The possible sensing mechanism is discussed in detail. The results obtained in this project may provide broad prospects for developing smart sensing systems to accomplish highly efficient, easily operable and quantitative intelligent recognition of Cu2+ and Cr2O72-.

Abstract
The development of a rapid and selective method for the identification of dipicolinic acid (DPA), a specific biomarker in Bacillus anthracis spores, is of great importance for the avoidance of anthrax infection. Herein, a chain-based EuIII metal-organic framework with the formula {[Eu3(BTDB)3(μ3-OH)3(H2O)]·solvents}n (JXUST-38, H2BTDB = (benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)dibenzoic acid) was obtained using 2-fluorobenzoic acid as the pH regulator. JXUST-38 exhibits good chemical and thermal stability and can specifically recognize DPA in N,N-dimethylformamide solution through luminescence enhancement and blue-shift effects with a detection limit of 0.05 μM. Furthermore, the significant luminescence enhancement and blue shift under UV lamps are obviously observable by the naked eye. The luminescence sensing mechanism is attributed to absorbance-induced enhancement between JXUST-38 and DPA. Test paper and mixed-matrix membrane based on JXUST-38 are designed for DPA detection. In addition, the feasibility of using JXUST-38 in biosensing is discussed in detail.

Abstract
Herein, we propose a simple and effective strategy for designing a zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) fluorescent probe with a two-dimensional leaf-like structure. By doping ZIF-L with phosphate, we developed a fluorescent probe for iron (Fe3+) in systems with high salinity. The fluorescence of P-ZIF-L was quenched effectively with the presence of Fe3+. The physicochemical structure, surface morphology, selectivity, stability and composition of the probe were investigated. Under optimized conditions, the fluorescent probe had a detection limit of 0.5 μM. Furthermore, the results that the probe exhibited desirable salt-tolerance and was suitable for determination of Fe3+ in brine water samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
An easy-to-use, highly selective, and real-time organic solvent quality assessment is desirable to detect water contamination in organic solvents. Herein, a one-step procedure using ultrasound irradiation was used for encapsulating nanoscale carbon dots (CDs) into metal-organic framework-199 (HKUST-1) to form CDs@HKUST-1 composite. The CDs@HKUST-1 exhibited very weak fluorescence due to photo-induced electron transfer (PET) from the CDs to the Cu2+ centers, acting as a fluorescent sensor in its off-state. The designed material can detect and discriminate water from other organic solvents, driven by turn-on fluorescence. This highly sensitive sensing platform could be applied for the detection of water in ethanol, acetonitrile, and acetone with wide linear detection ranges of 0-70% v/v, 2-12% v/v, and 10-50% v/v and limits of detection of 0.70% v/v, 0.59% v/v, and 1.08% v/v, respectively. The detection mechanism is attributed to the interruption of the PET process due to the release of fluorescent CDs after treatment with water. A smartphone-based quantitative test was successfully developed to monitor the water content in organic solvents utilizing CDs@HKUST-1 and a phone color processing application, thus making it possible to develop an on-site, real time and easy-to-use sensor for water detection.

Abstract
Metallic nanoclusters (NCs) have attracted special attention from researchers due to their interesting optical properties. In this experiment, we proposed a facile one-step method for the synthesis of bimetallic gold-copper nanoclusters (AuCuNCs). The prepared AuCuNCs were characterized by fluorescence spectroscopy (FL), UV-vis absorption spectrum, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), etc. The emission peak of the prepared AuCuNCs was located at 455 nm and showed blue luminescence under the excitation of 365 nm UV light. Furthermore, after the addition of Cr3+ and S2O82- ions, the FL emission intensity of AuCuNCs was significantly reduced at 455 nm and there was a color change of diminished blue luminescence under UV lamp. The AuCuNCs exhibited excellent linearity and sensitivity for the detection of Cr3+ and S2O82- ions. The limits of detection (LOD) for the Cr3+ and S2O82- ions were calculated to be 1.5 and 0.037 μM, respectively. Finally, the recoveries of Cr3+ and S2O82- ions in Runxi Lake and tap water were measured by standard addition recovery test and were 96.66 ∼ 116.29 %, 95.75 ∼ 119.4 %.

Abstract
A novel three-dimensional Eu3+-based metal-organic framework with the formula {[(CH3)2NH2][Eu(BTDI)]·H2O·DMF}n (JXUST-25) was prepared by solvothermal method based on Eu3+ and 5,5'-(benzothiadiazole-4,7-diyl)diisophthalic acid (H4BTDI) with benzothiadiazole (BTD) luminescent groups. Due to the presence of Eu3+ and organic fluorescence ligand, JXUST-25 displays turn-on and blue-shift fluorescence toward Cr3+, Al3+ and Ga3+ with limits of detection (LOD) of 0.073, 0.006 and 0.030 ppm, respectively. Interestingly, the alkaline environment can change the fluorescence of JXUST-25 toward Cr3+/Al3+/Ga3+ and the addition of HCl solution realizes the reversible change of the fluorescence of JXUST-25 toward Cr3+/Al3+/Ga3+. It is noteworthy that the fluorescent test paper and light-emitting diode lamp based on JXUST-25 can effectively detect Cr3+, Al3+ and Ga3+ by the visual changes. In addition, the turn-on and blue-shift fluorescence between JXUST-25 and M3+ ions may be caused by the host-guest interaction and the absorbance caused enhancement mechanism.

Abstract
Two supramolecular Co-MOF isomers, namely, {[Co(L)0.5(m-bimb)]·3H2O}n (LCU-115) and {[Co(L)0.5(p-bimb)]·3H2O}n (LCU-116), were synthesized from an amide-containing carboxylic acid N,N″-(3,5-dicarboxylphenyl)benzene-1,4-dicarboxamide (H4L) and two flexible positional isostructural N-containing ligands m-bimb and p-bimb (m-bimb = 1,3-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene; p-bimb = 1,4-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene). The carboxylate ligands connect Co(II) centers to form 2D metal-carboxylate sheets, which are extended further by m-bimb and p-bimb to form a 2D bilayer with parallel stacking (LCU-115) and a 3D framework (LCU-116), respectively. Luminescence measurements indicated that these two complexes exhibited interesting multiresponsive sensing activities toward pH, biomarker N-acetylneuraminic acid, and trivalent cations Ga3+/In3+. They show highly sensitive turn-on fluorescence responses in the acidic range and can also be regarded as on-off-on vapoluminescent sensors to typical acidic and basic gases HCl and Et3N. It is worth noting that these complexes have excellent turn-on ratiometric fluorescence sensing ability for N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA) with detection limits as low as 7.39 and 8.06 μM, respectively. Furthermore, they were successfully applied for the detection of NANA in simulated urine and serum samples with satisfactory results. For ion detection, LCU-116 could detect both Ga3+ and In3+, while LCU-115 could distinguish Ga3+ from In3+ with the latter showing luminescence quenching. The sensing mechanism was investigated in detail by XRD, UV-vis, EDS, XPS, SEM, and TEM. The results of interday and intraday precision studies gave low RSD values in the range of 1.19-3.53%, ascertaining the reproducibility of these sensors. The recoveries for the sensing analytes in simulated urine/serum or real water are satisfactory from 96.7 to 103.3% (toward NANA) and 96.6 to 115.0% (toward Ga3+ and In3+), indicating that these two complexes also possess acceptable reliability for monitoring in real samples. The results indicated that the supramolecular isomers LCU-115 and LCU-116 are promising material candidates for application in biological and environmental monitoring.

Abstract
A novel water-stable CdII-based metal-organic framework, namely {[Cd(BIBT)(TDC)]·2H2O}n (JXUST-28, BIBT = 4,7-bi(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzo-[2,1,3]thiadiazole and H2TDC = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid), was synthesized using a mixed-ligand strategy. Structural analysis demonstrates that JXUST-28 exhibits a two-dimensional layer structure with 4-connected sql topology. Intriguingly, JXUST-28 presents good stability in boiling water (at least 5 days), common organic solvents and aqueous solutions with different pH values of 2-12 (more than 24 hours). Furthermore, fluorescence experiments revealed that JXUST-28 could sense Hg2+ ions in aqueous solution via a quenching effect with a detection limit of 0.097 μM. Meanwhile, JXUST-28 can also be regenerated at least 5 times to detect Hg2+ ions. In addition, light-emitting diode lamps, luminescent films, and test papers of JXUST-28 have been successfully developed for practical applications.

Abstract
A d-f heterometallic MOF using the 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H2LZ) was obtained by solvothermal synthesis, namely [EuZn(LZ)2(HCOO)(H2O)3]n (1). The structure analysis shows that compound 1 comprises heterometallic Zn2+ and Eu3+ ions, which are connected by LZ2- and HCOO- anions to form a three-dimensional framework. MOF 1 exhibited high stability of fluorescence intensity in the scope of pH 2-11 in an aqueous solution. Furthermore, MOF 1 served as an excellent selective sensing material for the detection of folic acid in the presence of some imitating materials of the human body and discerned sulfaquinoxaline in sulfonamide drugs with high sensitivity, selectivity, and reusability. Moreover, we designed and manufactured a sensor paper based on MOF 1 as a portable device for the visual detection of folic acid and sulfaquinoxaline. More crucially, this is the first example in which luminescent MOF is used to identify sulfaquinoxaline molecules in an aqueous solution. In addition, the luminescence sensing mechanisms of MOF 1 for the detection of the above analytes were explored in detail.

Abstract
To develop Al3+ fluorescent sensor is significant because the abnormal levels of Al3+ in environment may pose great threat to human body. Herein, a novel metal-organic framework {Zn(Dpada)(Imdba)·H2O}n (Dpada = 3, 6-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl) pyridazine and Imdba = 2, 2'-iminodibenzoic acid), named Zn-MOF, has been architected with one-dimensional channel under hydrothermal conditions. Zn-MOF exhibits good thermal and solvent stability and can also keep structural integrity over the pH range of 5.0 - 9.0. Fluorescent experiments show that Zn-MOF has high selectivity and sensitivity towards Al3+ via ratiometric fluorescence signal changes (F470 nm/F390 nm) and the detection limit is evaluated to be 0.69 μM. In addition, Zn-MOF performs good recyclability in sensing of Al3+ with at least 5 cycles. Besides, an INHIBIT logic gate has been constructed with chemical ions (Al3+, Cr3+, Fe3+ and Hg2+) as input signals and emission ratio (F470 nm/F390 nm) as output signal. Significantly, Zn-MOF can be applied to tracing Al3+ using real water samples, presenting great potential in water quality monitoring application.

Abstract
Trivalent metal ions (Cr3+, Al3+, and Fe3+) constitute a major section of the environmental pollutants, and their excess accumulation has a detrimental effect on health, so their detection in trace quantity has been a hot topic of research. A highly scalable 3D porous Zn-based luminescent metal-organic framework (MOF) has been synthesized by exploiting the mixed ligand synthesis concept. The strategic selection of an aromatic π-conjugated organic linker and N-rich spacer containing the azine functionality as metal ion binding sites immobilized across the pore spaces, have made this MOF an ideal turn-on sensor for Al3+, Cr3+, and Fe3+ ions with very high sensitivity, selectivity, and recyclability. An in-depth study revealed absorbance caused enhancement mechanism (ACE) responsible for such turn-on phenomena. In order to make the detection process straightforward, convenient, portable, and economically viable, we have fabricated MOF test paper strips (the MOF could be simply immobilized onto the paper strips) for naked eye visual detection under UV light, which, thus, manifests its potential as a real-time smart sensor for these trivalent ions.

Abstract
Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) are one of the most promising materials for being implemented as active layers in the fabrication of photonic devices such as luminescent sensors of harmful chemicals. It is highly desirable that these materials undergo quantifiable spectroscopic (absorption or emission) changes in the presence of vapors of those analytes, as in many industrial processes, these toxic compounds are in the gas phase. Although great progresses have been achieved in the field, in most of the examples reported hitherto, the detection of chemicals by LMOFs is attained in solution. Herein, we present a novel approach consisting of the encapsulation of proton transfer dyes (8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid trisodium salt, HPTS, and 3-hydroxyflavone, 3-HF) within the pores of two distinct MOFs. The trapped proton transfer dyes (PT-dyes) may exist as different structures (enol, anion, or zwitterion), each of these exhibiting unique optical properties. Indeed, our findings reveal that the dyes can be encapsulated as anionic or enol species. Remarkably, the PT-dye@MOF composites exhibit a high luminescence quantum yield (up to 30%), which is sensitive (showing shifting in the emission wavelengths with a concomitant quenching/enhancement of the intensity) in the presence of vapors of an acid (HCl) and a base (triethylamine). These results open a novel avenue for the development of smarter vapoluminescent MOF-based materials.

Abstract
A terbium-based metal-organic framework, namely {[Tb2(ADIP)(H2ADIP)(HCOOH)(H2O)2]·2DMF·2H2O}n (Tb-MOF, H4ADIP = 5,5'-(anthracene-9,10-diyl) diisophthalic acid), was synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal structure analysis shows that the Tb-MOF crystallizes in the C2/C space group in the monoclinic system and its asymmetric unit contains two TbIII ions, one ADIP4-, one H2ADIP2-, one coordinating formic acid and two coordination water molecules. Tb-MOF has a three-dimensional porous structure with a porosity of 41.5%. Tb-MOF is a highly selective and sensitive fluorescence turn-on and blue-shift sensor for L-aspartate (Asp), L-glutamine (Glu), Al3+ and Ga3+with detection limits of 0.25, 0.23, 0.069 and 0.079 μM, respectively. Experimental studies and theoretical calculations show that the sensing process is mainly attributed to the energy transfer and the absorbance caused enhancement (ACE) mechanism. Therefore, Tb-MOF is a good multi-response fluorescence sensor for acidic amino acids and Al3+, Ga3+cations.

Abstract
Distinct from predominately known fluorescence quenching (turn-off) detection, turn-on response to hazardous substances by luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) could greatly avoid signal loss and susceptibility to environmental stimulus. However, such detection rarely occurs and lacks theoretical elucidations. Here, we present the first example of unique turn-on and unprecedented turn-off-on responses to a variety of acids by a stable 12-connected hexanuclear Y(III)-cluster-based LMOF material─JLU-MOF111, featuring the nondefault pcu topology. Benefiting from the "pocket" structures formed by the carbazole-containing ligands, JLU-MOF111 can sense multiple inorganic and organic acids via different degrees of fluorescence turn-on behaviors. Particularly, turn-on sensing of HNO3, HCl, HBr, and TFA is hypersensitive with LODs as low as the ppb level. Theoretical calculations confirm weak interactions in acid-ligand complexes, which lead to constrained rotations of benzene moieties of the ligands when the complexes decay from excited states. These account for the turn-on response through reduced nonradiative energy consumption that competes with emissive decay. The turn-off-on response to 4-NBA and 3,5-DNBA involves an excited-state electron transfer process that dominates the turn-off stage and prohibited nonradiative decay that competes with the intrinsic emission of the ligand and dominates the turn-on stage. This work has a guiding significance for the full-scale understanding of turn-on and turn-off-on sensing performance in LMOF materials and beyond.

Abstract
Due to their important role in biological systems, it is urgent to develop a material that can rapidly and sensitively detect the concentration of Fe3+ and Al3+ ions. In this work, a brand-new CdII-based metal-organic framework [Cd(BTBD)2(AIC)]n (JXUST-18, BTBD = 4,7-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole and H2AIC = 5-aminoisophthalic acid) with a 4-connected sql topology was designed and synthesized. The symmetrical CdII centers are linked by AIC2- ligands with μ3-η1:η1:η1:η1 coordination mode to form a [Cd2(COO)2] secondary building unit (SBU). The contiguous SBUs are further connected by BTBD ligands to form a two-dimensional (2D) layer structure. JXUST-18 can remain stable in aqueous solutions with pH values of 3-12 or in boiling water. Luminescent experiments suggest that JXUST-18 displays more than eightfold fluorescence enhancement in the presence of Fe3+ and Al3+ ions, and the detection limits for Fe3+ and Al3+ ions are 0.196 and 0.184 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the change in luminescence color is uncomplicatedly distinguishable with the naked eye under ultraviolet light at 365 nm. In addition, a series of devices based on JXUST-18 including fluorescence test strips, lamp beads, and composite films were developed to detect metal ions via visual changes in luminescence color. Significantly, JXUST-18 is a rare MOF-based turn-on fluorescence sensor for the detection of Fe3+ ions. The theoretical calculation suggests that the complexation of Fe3+/Al3+ ions and the -NH2 group contributes to fluorescence enhancement.
