Abstract
A BF3·OEt2 catalyzed highly chemoselective formal CC double bond cleavage reaction of α,β-enones with diazoamides for the synthesis of 3-alkylated oxindoles is developed. Boron trifluoride etherate is found to be an effective catalyst for the chemoselective Cα-Cβ cleavage of enones to obtain 3-alkylated oxindoles. The product formation indicates a selective β-carbon elimination pathway of α,β-enones using the inexpensive BF3·OEt2 as a catalyst, transition metal-free conditions, an open-air environment, good functional tolerance and broad substrate scope. The synthetic utility of this protocol is highlighted by synthesizing spiro-indolooxiranes.

Abstract
The Stille coupling reaction is one of the most important coupling reactions. It is well known that the triphenylarsine ligand can accelerate the reaction rate of Stille coupling. However, other arsine ligands have never been investigated for the Stille coupling reaction so far. In this work, we prepared 13 kinds of C3-symmetrical tertiary arsine ligands and discovered that tri(p-anisyl)arsine is the best ligand for the reaction of tributylvinyltin and p-iodoanisole. The reaction mechanism was studied by dispersion-corrected density functional theory calculations to demonstrate the energetic feasibility of the Stille coupling reactions mediated by tri(p-anisyl)arsine.

Abstract
We report a Rh-catalyst for accessing olefins from primary alcohols by a C-C bond cleavage that results in dehomologation. This functional group interconversion proceeds by an oxidation-dehydroformylation enabled by N, N-dimethylacrylamide as a sacrificial acceptor of hydrogen gas. Alcohols with diverse functionality and structure undergo oxidative dehydroxymethylation to access the corresponding olefins. Our catalyst protocol enables a two-step semisynthesis of (+)-yohimbenone and dehomologation of feedstock olefins.

Abstract
While acid fluorides can readily be made from widely available or biomass-feedstock-derived carboxylic acids, their use as functional groups in metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions is rare. This report presents the first demonstration of Pd-catalyzed decarbonylative functionalization of acid fluorides to yield trifluoromethyl arenes (ArCF3 ). The strategy relies on a Pd/Xantphos catalytic system and the supply of fluoride for transmetalation through intramolecular redistribution to the the Pd center. This strategy eliminated the need for exogenous and detrimental fluoride additives and allows Xantphos to be used in catalytic trifluoromethylations for the first time. Our experimental and computational mechanistic data support a sequence in which transmetalation by R3 SiCF3 occurs prior to decarbonylation.

Abstract
Carbon monoxide (CO) and styrene derivatives that can be both generated by a palladium on carbon (Pd/C)-catalyzed carbon-carbon (C-C) bond cleavage reaction of cinnamaldehyde derivatives were effectively utilized in further palladium-catalyzed C-C bond forming reactions in a direct and practical way. CO derived from simple and affordable CO carriers such as cinnamaldehyde or terephthalaldehyde was efficiently employed in the in situ CO fixation with various aromatic iodides through a palladium-catalyzed carbonylation followed by an inter- or intramolecular coupling reaction with alcohols to afford the corresponding esters or lactones, respectively. Styrene derivatives were also efficient substrates in an in situ Mizoroki-Heck-type cross-coupling reaction with aryl iodides, leading to the effective formation of asymmetric stilbenes. The decarbonylation of cinnamaldehyde derivatives and the subsequent independent syntheses of both esters/lactones and 1,2-diarylethenes could be achieved in a virtual one-pot and in situ reaction using a H-shaped pressure-tight glass-sealed tube consisting of two independent but laterally connected reaction tubes in the gas space.
