Abstract
Toxic intermediates in food caused by chloramphenicol (CP) and furazolidone (FZ) have gained interest in research toward their detection. Hence, fast, reliable, and accurate detection of CP and FZ in food products is of utmost importance. Here, a novel molybdenum disulfide-connected carbon nanotube aerogel/poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) [MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT] nanocomposite materials are constructed and deposited on the pretreated carbon paste electrode (PCPE) by a facile eletropolymerization method. The characterization of MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry. The modified MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite has improved sensing characteristics for detecting CP and FZ in PBS solution. For this work, we have studied various parameters like electrocatalytic activity, the effect of scan rates, pH variation studies, and concentration variation studies. Under optimum conditions, the modified electrode exhibited superior sensing ability compared to the bare and pretreated CPE. This improvement in electrocatalytic activity can be the higher conductivity, larger surface area, increased heterogeneous rate constant, and presence of more active sites in the MoS2/CNTs aerogel/PEDOT nanocomposite. The modified electrode demonstrated distinct electrochemical sensing toward the individual and simultaneous analysis of CP and FZ with a high sensitivity of 0.701 µA. µM-1 .cm-2 for CP and 0.787 µA. µM-1 .cm-2 for FZ and a low detection limit of 3.74 nM for CP and 3.83 nM for FZ with good reproducibility, repeatability, and interferences. Additionally, the prepared sensor effectively detects CP and FZ in food samples (honey and milk) with an acceptable recovery range and a relative standard deviation below 4%.

Abstract
The development of electrochemical sensors for flutamide detection is a crucial step in biomedical research and environmental monitoring. In this study, a composite of Actinidia-derived carbon particles (CPs) and tungsten disulfide (WS2) was formed and used as an electrocatalyst for the electrochemical detection of flutamide. The CPs had an average diameter of 500 nm and contained surface hydroxyl and carbonyl groups. These groups may help anchor the CPs onto the WS2 platelets, resulting in the formation of a CPs-WS2 nanocomposite with a high surface area and a conducting network, enabling electron transfer. Using the CPs-WS2 composite supported at a glassy carbon electrode, a linear concentration range extending from 1 nM to 104 μM, a limit of detection of 0.74 nM, and a sensitivity of 26.9 ± 0.7 μA μM-1 cm-2 were obtained in the detection of flutamide in a phosphate buffer. The sensor showed good recovery, ranging from 88.47 to 95.02%, in river water samples, and exhibited very good selectivity in the presence of inorganic ions, including Al3+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Zn2+, NO3 -, SO4 2-, CO3 2-, and Cl-.

Abstract
Nitrofurans are important synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs with the basic structure of 5-nitrofuran. Due to their toxicity, it is essential to develop a sensitive sensor with strong anti-interference capabilities for their detection. In this work, two {P4Mo6O31}12--based compounds, [H4(HPTTP)]2{CuI[Mo12O24(OH)6(PO4)3(HPO4)(H2PO4)4]}·xH2O (x = 13 for (1), 7 for (2); HPTTP = 4,4',4″,4‴-(1H-pyrrole-2,3,4,5-tetrayl)tetrapyridine), exhibiting similar coordination but distinct stacking modes. Both compounds were synthesized and used for the electrochemical detection of nitrofuran antibiotics. The tetrapyridine-based ligand was generated in situ during assembly, and its potential mechanism was discussed. Composite electrode materials, formed by mixing graphite powder with compounds 1-2 and physically grinding them, proved to be highly effective in the electrochemical trace detection of furazolidone (FZD) and furaltadone hydrochloride (FTD·HCl) under optimal conditions. Besides, the possible electrochemical detection mechanisms of two nitro-antibiotics were studied.

Abstract
In this work, novel modified electrode (MXene/MIL-101(Cr)/GCE) are manufactured through simple layer-by-layer immobilization procedure. The fabricated electrochemical sensor was utilized for electrochemical sensing of flutamide in biological fluids. The immobilization of both MXene and metal-organic framework (MOF) materials on the electrode surface could improve the electrochemical performance of the modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) towards flutamide due to the synergic effects. The established sensor illustrated the significant sensing ability for the determination of flutamide. The influence of solution pH and volume ratio of MXene/MIL-101(Cr) on electrochemical performance of the modified GCE was researched and optimized. The sensor demonstrated a favorable detection limit of 0.009 μM and a linear range of 0.025-100 μM using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique. The suggested assay illustrated an excellent sensing efficiency towards flutamide in body fluids with recoveries ranging from 97.7% to 102.5%, which indicates its potential in real matrices. In addition, the MXene/MIL-101(Cr)/GCE was illustrated some advantages including simple preparation, good selectivity and reproducibility, and rapid flutamide detection.

Abstract
In this study, bio-Ag/ZnO NCs were synthesized via a microwave-assisted biogenic electrochemical method using mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) peel extract as a biogenic reducing agent for the reduction of Zn2+ and Ag+ ions to form hybrid nanoparticles. The as-synthesized NC samples at three different microwave irradiation temperatures (Z 70, Z 80, Z 90) exhibited a remarkable difference in size and crystallinity that directly impacted their electrocatalytic behaviors as well as electrochemical sensing performance. The obtained results indicate that the Z 90 sample showed the highest electrochemical performance among the investigated samples, which is attributed to the improved particle size distribution and crystal microstructure that enhanced charge transfer and the electroactive surface area. Under the optimal conditions for carbaryl pesticide detection, the proposed nanosensor exhibited a high electrochemical sensitivity of up to 0.303 μA μM-1 cm-2 with a detection limit of LOD ∼0.27 μM for carbaryl pesticide detection in a linear range of 0.25-100 μM. Overall, the present work suggests that bio-Ag/ZnO NCs are a potential candidate for the development of a high-performance electrochemical-based non-enzymatic nanosensor with rapid monitoring, cost-effectiveness, and eco-friendly to detect carbaryl pesticide residues in agricultural products.

Abstract
The unabated usage of priority anthropogenic stressors is a serious concern in the global environmental context. Pharmaceutical drugs such as furazolidone (FL) and nilutamide (NL) have far-reaching repercussions due to the presence of the reactive nitroaromatic moiety. Despite the widespread awareness regarding the dangers posed by nitroaromatic drugs, the promises to alleviate the environmental consequences of drug pollution are often unmet. Accordingly, implementing practices to monitor their presence in various media is a highly desirable, but challenging undertaking. With the advent of deep eutectic solvent-assisted synthesis, it has become possible to fabricate LDH-based sensor materials with minimal energy inputs in a sustainable and scalable manner. In this work, we have framed a series of CoFe-LDH electrocatalysts utilizing deep eutectic solvent-assisted hydrothermal strategies for the simultaneous detection of FL and NL. The CoFe-LDHs intercalated with three distinct anions, namely, (i) Cl-, (ii) SO42-, and (iii) CO32- are compared so as to establish a relationship between anion intercalation and electrochemical activity. Amongst the prepared electrodes, the CF-LDH-ii/SPCE displays highly appreciable selectivity, linear response range (0.09-237.9 μM), low detetion limits (FL = 1.2 nM and NL = 3.8 nM), high sensitivity (FL = 29.71 μA μM⁻1 cm⁻2 and NL = 19.29 μA μM⁻1 cm⁻2), good reproducibility and repeatability towards FL and NL in water and urine samples. Thus, with tailored gallery anions, the proposed electrocatalyst establishes enhanced electrocatalytic performance for the real-time analysis of pharmaceutical contaminants.

Abstract
Herein, an innovative way of designing a star-shaped gold nanoconfined multiwalled carbon nanotube-engineered sensoring interface (AuNS@MWCNT//GCE) is demonstrated for quantification of methionine (MTH); a proof of concept for lung metastasis. The customization of the AuNS@MWCNT is assisted by surface electrochemistry and thoroughly discussed using state-of-the-art analytical advances. Micrograph analysis proves the protrusion of nanotips on the surface of potentiostatically synthesized AuNPs and validates the hypothesis of Turkevich seed (AuNP)-mediated formation of AuNSs. In addition, a facile synthesis of electropotential-assisted transformation of MWCNTs to luminescent nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (Nd-GQDs avg. ∼4.3 nm) is unveiled. The sensor elucidates two dynamic responses as a function of CMTH ranging from 2 to 250 μM and from 250 to 3000 μM with a detection limit (DL) of ∼0.20 μM, and is robust to interferents except for tiny response of a similar -SH group bearing Cys (<9.00%). The high sensitivity (0.44 μA·μM-1·cm-2) and selectivity of the sensor can be attributed to the strong hybridization of the Au nanoparticle with the sp2 C atom of the MWCNTs, which makes them a powerful electron acceptor for Au-SH-MTH interaction as evidenced by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The validation of the acceptable recovery of MTH in real serum and pharma samples by standard McCarthy-Sullivan assay reveals the holding of great promise to provide valuable information for early diagnosis as well as assessing the therapeutic consequence of lung metastasis.

Abstract
Rising rates of drug abuse and pharmaceutical pollution throughout the world as a consequence of increased drug production and utilization pose a serious risk to public health and to environmental integrity. It is thus critical that reliable analytical approaches to detecting drugs and their metabolites in a range of sample matrices be developed. Recent advances in the design of nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors and biosensors have enabled promising new approaches to pharmaceutical analysis. In particular, the development of a range of novel metal nanocomposites with enhanced catalytic properties has provided a wealth of opportunities for the design of rapid and reliable platforms for the detection of specific pharmaceutical compounds. The present review provides a comprehensive overview of representative metal nanocomposites with synergistic properties and their recent (2017-2022) application in the context of electrochemical sensing as a means of detecting specific antibiotic, tuberculostatic, analgesic, antineoplastic, antipsychotic, and antihypertensive drugs. In discussing these applications, we further explore a variety of testing-related principles, fabrication approaches, characterization techniques, and parameters associated with the sensitivity and selectivity of these sensor platforms before surveying the future outlook regarding the fabrication of next-generation (bio)sensor platforms for use in pharmaceutical analysis.

Abstract
The present research presents synthesis and substantial utilization of a nanocomposite of reduced graphene oxide/polypyrrole nanotubes to modify graphite screen printed electrode (rGO/PPy NTs-GSPE) for detection of sulfite. The nanocomposite preparation was done by hydrothermal protocol, followed by characterization by energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) and field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Electrocatalytic sensing of sulfite is carried out using differential pulse voltammetric (DPV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), cyclic voltammetric (CV), and Chronoamperometry. Electrochemical behaviors of modified and unmodified electrodes were explored with CV method. In addition, DPV was employed for anodic peak and quantitatively detecting sulfite. The DPV results unveiled a linear response of the sensor to various sulfite contents (0.04-565.0 μM) with a narrow detection limit (0.01 μM) and admirable sensitivity (0.0483 μA/μΜ). The diffusion coefficient (D) for sulfite using rGO/PPy NTs-GSPE, 9.9 × 10-6 cm 2/s was obtained. The sensor was also successful in the sulfite detection in real specimens.

Abstract
Surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE) is an efficient surface-enhanced fluorescence method based on the near-field coupling process of surface plasmons and fluorophores. Based on this, we developed multiple coupling structures for an SPCE system by introducing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with different architectures by adjusting different modification methods and configurations. By assembling AuNPs on a gold substrate through electrostatic adsorption and spin-coating, 40- and 55-fold enhancements were obtained compared to free space (FS) emission, respectively. After theoretical simulations and the optimization of experimental conditions, a novel "hot-spot" plasmonic structure, an intense electromagnetic field within the system, plasmonic properties, and the coupled process were found to be mainly responsible for the diverse enhancement effects observed. For the spin-coating deposition method, new enhancing systems with high efficiency can be easily built without complex modification. Additionally, the subsequent detection system based on the uniform modification of AuNPs through electrostatic adsorption is convenient to establish with high sensitivity and stability, which can broaden the application of SPCE in both fluorescence-based sensing and imaging. This AuNP-enhanced SPCE using an electrostatic adsorption method was designed as an immunosensor to prove feasibility.

Abstract
Conducting polymers are extensively studied due to their outstanding properties, including tunable electrical property, optical and high mechanical properties, easy synthesis and effortless fabrication and high environmental stability over conventional inorganic materials. Although conducting polymers have a lot of limitations in their pristine form, hybridization with other materials overcomes these limitations. The synergetic effects of conducting polymer composites give them wide applications in electrical, electronics and optoelectronic fields. An in-depth analysis of composites of conducting polymers with carbonaceous materials, metal oxides, transition metals and transition metal dichalcogenides etc. is used to study them effectively. Here in this review we seek to describe the transport models which help to explain the conduction mechanism, relevant synthesis approaches, and physical properties, including electrical, optical and mechanical properties. Recent developments in their applications in the fields of energy storage, photocatalysis, anti-corrosion coatings, biomedical applications and sensing applications are also explained. Structural properties play an important role in the performance of the composites.
